visited his father. While he had undergone some troubles, he overall was not a terrible kid. Although
he was notably young and minded his own business, others did not. On February 26, 2012, the
young boy's life was taken away from him. The man who killed him was George Michael
Zimmerman. He served as a neighborhood watch captain around the area where his old man lived.
CNN stated that all he had was skittles and tea in his hand. Now tell me does that seem threatening

In every small town there is a police district we depend on. We depend on them to protect us , and
serve in the most positive way for the people. The importance of this topic in my eyes is that the
Police get–away with things that they shouldn't. What inspired me the most is the Trayvon Martin
case, and the Eric Garner case that really opened my eyes to see that the black community is so
broken and we as a unit cannot seem to fix it.

Ted Nugent said people looking out for suspicious behavior are "The purest form of Americans
watching out for each other and being good neighbors" (Cover). I agree that people watching the
neighborhood is a good thing because they are making sure it is safe for themselves and their

I think Zimmerman pursued Trayvon because he was black and wore a hood out late at night. I feel
Zimmerman shot Trayvon because he was black being Trayvon held no real threat towards him. I
don't believe Zimmerman feared Trayvon at all, but just needed a reason to rid the world of another
black kid so he took it. I mean he could have easily over powered him at any time so why let
Trayvon attack him in the first place and then shoot him. Zimmer could have waited for the police to
get there to solve the problem, but instead let his hatred of blacks get in the way. I think Zimmerman
knew he wouldn't face any consequences for his actions. I think Nugent is trying to tell us not to

According to Central Florida Future " Black Lives Matter is simply us saying,"Our lives are valid".It
is not the same as "Our lives are more important than yours"(Debouse and Ellison). When this
movement was created it's not a movement for Black lives only matter, this movement is bringing

The Tragic Story of Trayvon Martin
Trayvon Martin Rival On February 26, 2012 was a day people felt that history repeated itself. How
being an African American young man can cause people to stereotype you and even look at you
different. Trayvon Martin a young 17 year old male wasn't given the chance to be recognized as the
young men he was but stereotype to be violent and doing criminal activities. The night a young men
life was lost, because he was stereotyped and racial profiled by George Zimmerman. The event had
a big impact on Americans mainly African American with question and obsession of what was really

I was on my way to pick up a pizza I just ordered, and I was driving my roommate car. It was a

Why Is Trayvon Martin Wrong
Trayvon Martin was an African American teenage boy who was killed by a neighborhood watch
volunteer named George Zimmerman. They had an altercation and Zimmerman shot and killed
Martin. Zimmerman states that it was self defense, even though Martin was unarmed.
Zimmerman was acquitted of second degree murder and manslaughter, even though an unarmed
teenager was killed wrongfully. An unknown author explicitly states "Neighborhood watch

It is a devastating tragedy that there were not enough evidence to bring the civil rights charges in the
case. This killing of this young African American hit home for most parents and black male teens.

and guns law off the walls. Everyone was feed up. The Trayvon Martin case was talked about all
over the world. In school, at home, everywhere because it was unbelievable that a grown man can

case was a nationwide wake up call. He got killed by the police. He was unarmed and a black

Rice was killed in Cleveland, Ohio Park. He was a 12 year old black young boy that got shot by the
police officer. The police officer said that he, Tamir Rice the 12 year old, to be carrying a pistol on a
swing set. "When officers arrived at the scene, they say Rice reached for his toy, he did not point it
at them, prompting a policemen to fire shots at Rice from a short distance (Strochlic, Nina)." Tamir
Rice only was playing with a bb gun. VonDerrit Myers Jr., yet, another African American that was
shot in the head not so far from where Michael Brown died. The 18 year old, VonDerrit, was shot by
an off duty police officer. "The officer fired at him 17 times (Strochlic, Nina)." Myers was unarmed
and only holding a sandwich. A crowed gathered at the scene and a lot of violence broke out. Police
vehicles were damaged and gunshots were being fired. Do this remind you of the riot in South

In 2012, President Obama secured his 2nd term in the oval against his opponent Mitt Romney. The
voter turnout was not as high as it was in 2008 but minority voters turned out in voted in such high
numbers again. According to pew research, minority votes determined the 2012 election. On
February 26, 2012, an African–American teen, Trayvon Martin, was fatally shot by a neighborhood
watchmen, George Zimmerman. Zimmerman assumed that Martin looked suspicious then he called
the police after being told not to pursue Martin he continues to and the situation ended in a tragedy.
The case gained national attention and stirred up many protests around the U.S. All the facts proved
that Zimmerman was guilty of wrongfully killing Martin and Martin was not an actual threat just a
black man wearing a hoody. After a year, George Zimmerman was acquitted of the murder of
Trayvon Martin. Once again, the justice system failed African American people. This case proved
although there was a Black man in the highest position in the U.S., the justice system was still
