Another Beautiful Day Interrupted
The sun is beaming down on I and coppers face as we take our daily walk, on the ocean shore in
Florida. The sun is a bright yellow surrounded with a blue sky, filled with clouds. The sand is
stretched alongside I and cooper; white and clear. Only my foot prints and coopers paw prints left
behind. The sand is very soft. My feet and coopers paws sink into it with every step. The salty ocean
air burns our noses. The waves sparkle and glitter from the sun beaming down on it. The ocean is a
dark blue color with white caps as far as we can see. The waves our small. "Go get it Copper!" I yell
throwing the stick into the the ocean. Cooper is a Labrador,he's been part of the family for 7 years
now. Cooper catches my eyes , he's holding something that is shiny. I can't tell what it is with the
sun in my eyes. It's most likely a can he's been bringing them back to shore lately. "Come on boy!" I
yell out to him, trying to encourage him to swim faster. I can now see what Cooper is holding , I was
right it's a can. For some reason I'm curious to find out whats in the can. As he's a few feet away
from shore, I run to the edge of the water, the wind is blowing water across my ankles. "Which you
got Cooper?" I ask him as he looses grip of the can, letting it fall on the sand. Coopers barking as I
pick up the can. The cans label reads " Del Monte Whole Kernel Corn". I straggle to open the can
led "It's sealed shut Cooper we have to wait until we get home to open it." Water is dripping of

James Fenimore Cooper 's Impact On American Literature
James Fenimore Cooper had a very interesting life, molded American literature, and influenced
many popular authors, such as Herman Melville, Richard Henry Dana, Jr., Francis Parkman, and
even Mark Twain, through his "literary offenses."(1) The experiences Cooper had throughout his life
shaped his rogue character and literary style. The evidence of Cooper's impact to American literature
is well documented.
James Fenimore Cooper was born on September 15, 1789 in Burlington, New Jersey to William
Cooper and Elizabeth Fenimore. James was the last of twelve children; only seven survived
childhood: Richard, Hannah, Isaac, Ann, William and Samuel. Within the first year of James' birth,
he moved from New Jersey to the source of the Susquehanna ... Show more content on

At the age of 12, William Cooper resolved to send James to a Latin based boarding school run by
Reverend Thomas Ellison. James' closest companion in boarding school was William Jay, the
second son of governor John Jay. They used to adventure around New York, especially in the
excavated plot of land which Saint Peter's Church would be built on, with other boys who would
later become business for the state. This foreshadowed James' trickster attitude. By the age of
thirteen, James entered Yale College.
Some evidence to the claims of James' rogue character surface during his time at Yale. Simply
stated: Cooper was a prankster. It is reported that he put a donkey in a teacher's classroom, and
many other tricks. James never got into large trouble until his biggest prank: he blew up another
student's dorm door with gunpowder. By the age of 16, James Fenimore Cooper was expelled from
Yale College.
Shortly after James left Yale, he enrolled in the Navy. There is little to no information about this
time of his life other than it being a basis for his first book: Afloat and Ashore: A Sea Tale. On
December 22, 1809, his father, William Cooper died from a blow to the back of the head delivered
by a political opponent; this was a devastating episode as James was at sea when his father passed.
Shortly after, James met Susan DeLancey, whom he married on on January 1, 1811. The DeLanceys

Purpose. The Overall Purpose/Hypothesis Of The Article,
Purpose The overall purpose/hypothesis of the article, was it to find out how physical activity is
linked to the preservation of neurocognition, but more specifically to address the fundamental
question–– "does exercise improve cognition?" (Masley et al., 2009). The secondary reason for this
study is to use a technological method to determine the field of cognitive domains, in relation to
memory, mental speed, reaction time, attention, and cognitive flexibility.
Subjects
The subjects from this study were volunteers from the Carillon Wellness Center, St Anthony's
Hospital, St. Petersburg, Florida. There were 91 male and female subjects who were between the
ages of 18–70. No subjects have a history of elevated heart levels or any major ... Show more

Findings and Statistics The comparison between demographic and physiological data was found on
Table 1. The statistics showed that there was no significant difference between both the control
group and the combined intervention group in relation it age, BMI, years of education, and VO2max
fitness. The only shown difference was gender, a higher percentage of women were added onto the
study. The study showed that there was no statistical significant change in VO2max levels.
"VO2max levels had increased by 6.5% in the control group, 12% in the moderate intervention
group, 17.3 % in the combined intervention group, and 21.3 % in the high exercise intervention
group" (Masley et al., 2009). The independent t–test showed the comparison between the control
group and the high exercise group was rather significant, with a p value of 0.53. Also, the Spearman
rank correlation coefficient compared the change from the control, to the moderate, to the high
exercise groups, with a coefficient of 0.23 and a VO2 max p value of 0.06. Neurocognitive data that
was analyzed by MANOVA, was collected in Table 2. For this study, there was a high significant
difference is the observes psychomotor speed, attention and cognitive flexibility, with a p value of
0.03. When t–test compared the change in the combined intervention group with the controlled
group, only cognitive flexibility

Twin Fans: A Narrative Fiction
"Lil?" Angela called, setting the groceries down on the kitchen counter. The television was on and
playing an old episode of Twin Peaks, Lillian's favorite show. Lillian, however, wasn't in there
watching it.
Angela put the small amount of groceries away before calling out again. "Lillian! I'm home!" Her
voice echoed through the house and empty halls. The only sound was the faint murmur of Agent
Dale Cooper asking for a damn fine cup of coffee.
The bathroom turned up empty. Angela went up to Lillian's writing room and turned on the light,
illuminating the corner desk with Lil's beloved MacBook on it. She looked at her collection of
mermaid antiques and souvenirs. Even the artwork on the walls were classic style painting of the

A place she had feared for the last eighteen years.
"Lil?" she said one last time before stepping down into a nightmare.
Everything was like it was the last time she'd been down there. The dryer there where her daddy did
his filthy deed. The window that opened to the ground level beside the house, where she had
assumed the other man had come in from that night.
And there was Lillian. Hanging from the rafters and swinging by her neck like a fucked–up piñata at
a kids party. Her pale blond hair hung limply in her bloated face and over eyes that bulged wildly
from their sockets. The room stank of piss and shit and a thin trail of vomit was splashed down the
front of Lil's pretty blue sweater.
Angela wasn't ready for the sight of her baby sister hanging from the joists like a piece of meat on a
hook. For a moment, all she could do was tremble and feel the hot tears run down her face. When
she screamed, people all down Walsh and Bishop turned on their lights and looked to see what could

Maximal Oxygen Consumption And The Oxygen
Maximal oxygen consumption or VO2 max refers to the single maximum oxygen consumption that
an individual can utilize during graded–intensity exercise. VO2 max can be assessed through
properly administered submaximal oxygen consumption test which can include exercise test modes
of treadmill, cycle ergometer or step test. In an individual, VO2 max can be determined by the
cardiovascular system 's ability to deliver oxygenated blood to working muscles and then the muscle
's ability to extract that oxygen from the blood and generate energy for work. Influencing factors can
include genetics, decline of VO2 max with aging, and finally aerobic training can positively
influence an individual 's VO2 max and overall aerobic fitness. Individuals with high VO2 maxes
often have greater overall aerobic fitness, which includes high efficiency, or running economy,
better glycogen storage and is often an indicator of success when completing aerobic tasks of over
20 minutes. On the contrary, a low VO2 max can predict poor overall aerobic fitness which can
include cardiovascular disease and problems with transporting oxygen to working muscles. (3) In
these laboratory exercise test, submaximal intensity exercises were used to determine an individual
's predicted VO2 max which allowed the assessment of their overall aerobic fitness and the ability to
compare the correlations between tests. Before performing any submaximal exercise test, the
individual should be in the proper state of mine

Moralism In The Movie High Noon
High Noon, the shocking American film from the 1950's, shines light on the true nature of one
standing their ground when the world is against them. This movie was written to represent the Red
Scare, when Hollywood members were falsely accused of being communist. These actors were
forced to give names of others who they thought were "communists" or else they would be
punished. If the "communist" actors gave out names, however, they would be ruining other's careers.
Some of the people refused to give names. Like the Marshall in the movie High Noon, these brave
actors stood up for what they believed in. Nevertheless, the other members of Hollywood around
were not very willing to support. They were like the townspeople in High Noon. They didn't want to
risk their own reputation and safety. In the film, Zinnemann successfully revealed the hardships of
those falsely convicted, and exposed the hearts of those who saw the false conviction, but did
nothing about it in order to protect themselves. Directed by Fred Zinnemann, this thrilling motion
picture's main character is a marshal named Cain, played by the actor Gary Cooper. He's asked by
the townspeople to relocate because a few villains plan to kill him at high noon. Instead of heeding
to the advice of the townspeople, Cain stands up for what he believes in, and stays to fight all four of
the villains. People slowly remove themselves from him, and refuse to fight by his side. He has to
face his enemies alone.
High Noon is like many other works of literature which praised heroes who fought the fight alone.
Helen Hannah, in the movie Judgment was mocked and put on trial for her religious beliefs. Tousle,
in the novel Straw into Gold, broke out of the crowd, and spoke on behalf of innocent people being
claimed as rebels. These heroes were ready and willing to put their life on the line for what they
believe. However, it was not easy for any of them. Just like the other authors, Zinnemann wanted the
audience to see the internal struggle the hero was having. The look on the marshal's face, the
weariness in his gait, and his conflicting thoughts when he walked into the bar, and punched one of
the men in the face, and was about to leave on the horse, but changed his

A Short Note On Maximal Oxygen Consumption ( Vo2max )
Introduction Maximal oxygen consumption (VO2max), the highest recorded rate of oxygen
consumption during a graded and exhaustive exercise test, is a top indicator of cardio–pulmonary
endurance in humans and is believed to correlate with overall health (Strijk, Proper, Klaver, Beek, &
Mechelen, 2010). VO2max of an individual declines with age regardless of exercise status, but
exercise may lead to a significantly slower decline in VO2max during the aging process (Katzel,
Sorkin, & Fleg, 2001) Many factors related to aging such as decrease of maximal heart rate, stroke
volume, the gain of body mass, decreased muscle mass, and decreased health status are thought to
be the primary contributing factors leading to a decline in VO2max (Grimsmo, Arnesen, &
Maehlum, 2010). Individuals that have decreased their physical activity levels or developed health
problems had a greater decline in VO2max values, over a longitudinal study, than their healthy
counterparts (Grimsmo et al., 2010). Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) affects
individuals by causing airflow restriction, impairing their exercise capacity (Ortega, Montemayor,
Sanchez, & Cabello, 1995). A VO2max test has the ability to help identify COPD that may not have
been apparent prior to this test and can indicate the severity of the disease (Ortega et al, 1995). One
metabolic equivalent of task (MET) is the amount of energy used to sit in a chair for one minute
which is equivalent to a VO2max value of 3.5ml/kg/min

Anderson Cooper Stereotypes
Anderson Cooper is a well–known journalist. He is best known as an anchor on CNN. His show is
called "Anderson Cooper 360." He is a really good reporter whether it is reporting in the field,
reading off a teleprompter, or even interview a person. This paper is my feedback on four of his
performances which are "CNN Anchor Anderson Cooper reports "Miserable" situation in Tacloban,
Philippines" which focuses on his field reporting. "Anderson Cooper is surprised to find himself on
the RidicuList for smelly candles" which focuses on reading off a teleprompter. "Anderson Cooper,
Trump adviser clash over Russia report" which focuses on Anderson Cooper interviewing live from
the station with Kellyanne Conway at a different location. Finally "Anderson Cooper interviews
Nancy Pelosi" where he interviews Nancy Pelosi in the same room face to face. The video "CNN

The Big Bang Theory By Sheldon Cooper
Appendix:
I will be analyzing The Big Bang Theory, a popular TV show which features the lives of four gifted
scientists working at Caltech. I will be analyzing the communication issues that Sheldon Cooper, a
revered physicist faces on a day–to–day basis. It is safe to say that every character has been
frustrated with Sheldon at one point or another mainly down to his style of communication. Being
extremely gifted and unexposed to various groups of people, Sheldon's communication style has
been a difficult one for friends and strangers to get used to. Sheldon isn't rude or difficult to deal
with on purpose. It is due to his lack of experience with human interaction in different scenarios that
makes him socially awkward. However, with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This shows that Sheldon is not constructing his dispositions on cold hard facts, but rather because he
feels superior through the groups he belongs to. On countless occasions Sheldon can be caught
making fun of his friend Howard who is an engineer from MIT, Penny who is a simple waitress at
the Cheesecake Factory and other colleagues from his workplace. However, upon meeting Amy,
Sheldon begins to transition from his predisposed mindset to a more accepting one. This can be
attributed to Sheldon altering his spiritual self and finally knocking down barriers that were due to
association by similarity (Adler, 6). At first, Sheldon only wanted to communicate with people like
himself because his attitudes reflected that anyone unlike him was unworthy. However, through
interacting with Amy, her influence of biology (which he previously determined as a worthless field)
accompanied by her choice of friends (Bernadette and Penny) creates a major impact on Sheldon.
He becomes able to speak with people unlike himself and portray respect for their field, even if deep
down he doesn't care. Being able to present a social self that displays respect even if your beliefs are
different shows that you are in control of your communication and dialogue. That may seem like
very little progress however,

Wedding Crashers Stereotypes
Wedding Crashers Wedding Crashers was the return of the "R" rated adult comedy movie, it was the
sixth biggest grosser in 2005, it is a sex comedy about two men who crash weddings to meet single
woman and deceive them to get them into bed. I believe the movie "Wedding Crashers" is against
feminism. The two male characters treat women like sex objects to gain their need for sexual
satisfaction. The movie stereotypes women to make them seem like sex objects, disregarding their
personality and intelligence. I think the target audiences are men who are in their late 20s and early
30s that are successful and enjoy humorous adult comedy. The movie revolves around the two main
characters, John Beckwith and Jeremy Grey. John and Jeremy are ... Show more content on

John and Jeremy are doing by crashing these weddings. They do not want to get out of the phase
they were in as adolescence, because they do not want to grow up. Chazz Reingold is the man who
passed on all the rules to being a wedding crasher to John and Jeremy. He is a middle–aged man and
still lives with his mother at her house. He rarely crashes weddings anymore because he has found
an unlikely success in meeting girls by crashing funerals. He says "grief is nature 's most powerful
aphrodisiac", therefore implying he is using the vulnerability of women at funerals to gain his sexual
desires. He is taking advantage of women who are not in the right state of mind, which is very low
in standards because again he is treating them as an ordinary object disregarding their feelings and
intellect. Claire 's boyfriend Bradley is the testosterone–fueled person who assaults people but is
always dismissed as harmless. He also is a cheating rat who treats Claire with great disrespect.

The Dark is Rising by Susan Copper
The main theme in the book, The Dark is Rising, is obviously the conflict between the dark and
light. It is one of the many suspenseful fantasy books about the battle between good and evil, Susan
Cooper wrote about the dark, light, and the mystical powers. To start off, the evil side of the story is
about the Rider. The Rider is the antagonist who was very close to defeating the light and good to
rule over, but was triumphed over. Of course, the dark didn't expect this result to happen. He was
waiting and planning for the Old One's eleventh birthday to end the light once and for all. This part
of his plan was important because without that special occasion happening, he couldn't do anything
to gain eternal and strong powers. One of his plans was to stop Will from joining all the signs. So,
the rider had Maggie Barnes, the farm's rounded face, red cheeked dairymaid, to take it. This was
very close to being accomplished, but it wasn't thanks to Merriam, Wills' "guardian" as an Old One.
The Rider even tried to scare Will and his community to stop him, with the weather using lighting,
snow, rain, and any cold, spine chilling weather. Luckily, the light was there facing any threat to
come into the world. While the dark was throwing stratagems, the light was preparing as best as they
can with Will, the Old One. Will had so many things to learn and control in time before the dark
rules over. Fortunately, he had people like Merriam who he trusted to help him. And,

2005).
Cultural safety acknowledges and embraces the unique cultural backgrounds of individuals.
It means providing opportunities for people to express their ideas and beliefs and have their cultural
needs met. When people feel culturally safe they should feel freedom from fear, anxiety, as being
accepted and included. Being able to accept all people from cultures different to our own does not
only refer to people linguistic background, it also includes people who are from a different gender,
sexuality, age and ability.
To determining if the environment is culturally safe their needs to be evidence of any physical,
emotional, psychological and spiritual harm (Holly et al. 2005). Observing the atmospheres, body
language and the verbal communication between the people involved, whilst also having an
understanding that a safe space does not necessarily means that everybody is confortable and can
often be challenging (Holly et al. 2005).
OBSERVATION OF THE BIG BANG EPISODE:
The atmosphere appears to be friendly as they are eating and communicating in an acceptable
manner, Sheldon's behaviour does not provoke any argument or disharmony as there is no evidence
of physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual harm (Holly. et al. 2005).Therefore making the

Beta Alanine Essay
Beta–alanine (BA), only recently, has rapidly become one of the most popular performance–
enhancing compounds in the world. Since the first human study in 2006, BA is commonly found in
most popular pre– workout supplements on the market today (Trexler, et al., 2015). BA is a naturally
occurring amino acid produced in the liver. BA is also contained in animal proteins such as turkey
and beef, and therefore can be increased somewhat through the consumption of animal protein.
Significant increases, however, require various means of supplementation. Beta–alanine has been
cited as a rate–limiting precursor to carnosine synthesis (Harris, et al., 2006). BA supplementation
has been shown to increase levels of carnosine in skeletal muscle. ... Show more content on

Additional roles of carnosine beyond Ca2+ regulation and pH buffer include its ability to act as a
scavenger of free radicals and singlet oxygen, both of which are not only damaging, but also limit
performance (Kohen, et al.,1988). Regarding BA supplementation and administration, there has
been some opposing views on which means of supplementation is most beneficial. Some research
suggests that BA is most effective when front–loaded. Consuming 4 to 6g per day, preferably with
meals has demonstrated the maximum desired effect, with more significant benefits seen after four
weeks (Harris, et al., 2009; Stegen, et al., 2013). Some clinicians, however, maintain that oral
administration is minimally effective. A 2016 study by Sharpe, & Macias demonstrated a definite
improvement in performance in short duration, high–intensity exercise by athletes using a topical
gel to administer carnosine transdermally. The study does maintain that more testing does need to be
done, however, brings up scientific reasons why oral ingestion may be less efficient due to GI
damage to the supplement. The purpose of this literature review is to provide insight into the effects
of beta–alanine in performance. The research demonstrates that BA ingestion is, in fact, beneficial to
athletic performance, with a significant portion of data showing it is more efficient in shorter
duration, moderate to high–intensity activities lasting 60 to 240 seconds specifically.

The Dystopia For The Modern Society In John Rand's Anthem
Imagine a society that is so strict that even a simple rule break can result in a severe punishment. In
Anthem, this is just everyday life for the society that Equality 7–2521 lives in. The society that was
created in Anthem was an attempt to make a utopia but instead ended up in a dystopia. In this
society, people are assigned their jobs and are forced to take that job that was assigned to them. The
government controls everything and has taken many steps to eliminate all freedom from the society.
Much knowledge from modern day society has been erased in Anthem and has been replaced with
false facts that all of their citizens believe. "We learned that the earth is flat and the sun revolves
around it, which causes the day and night." (Rand 23). Once Equality 7–2521 has broken out of the
society, he discovers a place in the mountains away from the old society. He lives their with
International 4–8818 or the nickname that Equality 7–2521 dubbed her, The Golden One. While
living in the glass house on the mountain, Equality discovers freedom and starts using the forbidden
word from the old society, "I". Equality 7–2521 will abandon all the rules from his old society
because of technology, ego, and last but not least, freedom. In anthem, the society designates people
to create inventions that help the society with advancements. These advancements have not been
made due to the lack of accurate facts that the society has forgotten. Even with these setbacks some

girlfriend of Sheldon's best friends and that Sheldon most likely has a cold. The first reaction he has
to hear the woman is a doctor is to grill her and take advantage of her possible expertise. Thus, his
need to prove himself right allowed his fears of sickness to bypass any sense of uncomfortable
social cues. Stress is a steady component of American society. Being stressed has become part of

Narcissism is a hostile form of his use of competitiveness. When Leonard questions him on the
ethics of breaking into penny's house stating that he would have to stand in front of a jury to prove
his innocence, Sheldon's response is "Don't be ridiculous, I have no peers". Considering that
Leonard is also a Physicist and nearly identically qualified it would suggest that Sheldon does not
consider even his friends his equals. Such comments can negatively emotionally influence others
and are unconsciously hostile. Another pattern that aids the frequency of hostile behavior is Sheldon
will create challenges in order to defer responsibility for an action and follow through on his own
agenda. A key part of his tendency to continually cross social lines has been in his failure to consider
that others have valid needs and feelings beyond his own goals. When a challenge arises he will talk

Big Bang Theory Analysis
Feminism and The Big Bang Theory
In the two The Big Bang Theory episodes, "The Tangerine Factor" and "The Cognitive
Regeneration", there are feminist ideals being represented by the characters. In summary of the
episode "The Tangerine Factor", Penny says yes to going out with Leonard but is restless because he
is different from the guys she usually dates. While in "The Cognitive Regeneration", Penny and
Leonard are seen dating until troubles arise as Penny's ex–boyfriend appears. The ideal womanly
traits are shown through Penny's character; however, Penny's role in the TV show seem to give her
more of a feminist approach. At the same time, Leonard's traits of masculinity are put into question
due to his character but also creates a unique perspective on patriarchy. With an analysis of Penny's
character without watching the TV show, her personality would be characterized by her personality
just by her looks. Penny, a main character from The Big Bang Theory, is a white, blonde female
which arguably has many sexual politics prescribed by society even with just by being female.
Basically, Penny would be characterized as sexy, dumb (not as smart as men), dependent, and
beautiful just because she is blonde. This explains Melissa Leo's argument in "Bad Feminist".
Melissa Leo talked about how humans are labeled right when they come into the world by their hair,
gender, and ethnicity. With this, most stereotypes were created such as blondes are dumb and
women should be paid less

The Lifestyle change Program
The Program
Prior to commencing the Lifestyle Change Program the client must be educated in areas of her
lifestyle, which will be addressed over the course of the 4–week program. The initial assessment
highlights areas of weakness in the client; results indicate that the client currently falls below
average in some physical aspects when compared to normative values of her age category. Areas
that will be specifically targeted in the program include aerobic fitness and strength, dietary intake
requirements and lifestyle changes.
The client must be educated on the concept and the benefits associated with increasing aerobic
capacity and also increasing muscle strength, not only of the upper body but all major muscle
groups. In addition to educating the client on the benefits of increasing physical activity the client
must be made aware of the consequences associated with sedentary behavior and thus the emphasis
of lifestyle changes must be made. Dietary intake is another major area of the client's lifestyle that
must be addressed for the client's educational purposes. By educating the client in areas that will be
addressed this will aid the client in accepting the idea that areas in her lifestyle must be altered to
enhance her quality of life. Not only will education paired with alterations to the client's lifestyle
enhance the client's quality of life, it will also increase the chances and likelihood of her committing
to the program in the long term and post program.

Sergeant York : The Film Of The Movie : Sergeant York
For my history assignment, I viewed the movie, Sergeant York. Sergeant York is a film about the life
of Alvin York. Alvin York is one of the most decorated American soldiers of the World War 1
(Birdwell, M., Dr. (n.d.). It was released on July 2, 1941. This film was directed by Howard Hawks
starring Gary Cooper, Walter Brennan, and Joan Leslie. This film has been nominated for many
awards and has been ranked 57th out of 100 for the most inspirational American movies (Sergeant
York, n.d.). This movie is a great portrayal of Alvin York.
Sergeant York starts in Tennessee in the Valley of the 3 Forks of the wolf. His family is farmers but
they are poor. It starts out with his mother in church and Alvin interrupting the church service with
gunshots. Alvin was not a believer at the time. Alvin got drunk a lot of the time. When York was on
his way to make a bad decision he was struck by lightning. He took it as a sign and found religion.
Alvin decided to live life without anger and to marry his Gracie. Alvin starts to attend church and
makes peace with his "enemies." When the US entered WW1, Alvin did not register for the draft
because he believed that killing is against the bible. When Alvin gets talked into joining he goes in
as a 'C.O.' He was denied and drafted. When at camp, his shooting skills impressed his superior
officers and Alvin get promoted to corporal and made him an instructor. When Alvin's unit gets
deployed, they set off to France to fight in the Argonne offensive. Alvin was able to kill many and
make 132 of the Germans soldiers to surrender. Alvin and his remaining unit brought the German
prisoners back to the camp headquarters. Alvin was awarded many medals of honor. Alvin was then
known as the "greatest civilian soldier." After returning home to Texas Alvin is reunited with his
family and Gracie. Alvin was not proud of what happened and did not want to receive any attention.
The people in his community came together and bought land for Alvin and Gracie to build a home
and life a happy married life. This film was only made with the approval of Alvin York himself. It
was a great comparison because it was a biography of Alvin's life.

Physical Activity Level And Health Status
Benefits of Physical Activity:
Many evidences are now showing that regular exercise is an effective strategy to prevent and treat
several chronic diseases (e.g., cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, cancer, hypertension, depression,
and osteoporosis) [29]. It has been demonstrated that the current CPAG is sufficient to elicit health
benefits, especially in people who were previously sedentary [30]. Generally, a positive linear
relationship exists between physical activity level and health status [31]. Both aerobic and resistance
exercises have been shown to be associated with positive health outcomes [32–34].
Barriers Associated with Physical Activity:
Many barriers have been identified which attribute to why people do not exercise regularly to obtain
and maintain health benefits [35, 36]. Commitment towards family, work pressure, and time have
been rated as common barriers people face to be physically active [8]. Recent advances in
technology have resulted in an increases in time spent sedentarily, especially at work [37], but also
in leisure time [38, 39]. In addition, long hours of work is specifically a barrier for adults as they are
mentally exhausted and do not feel like exercising [40]. Specifically for older adults, fear of getting
injured from physical activity and self–efficacy restricts them from being sufficiently physically
active to observe optimal health benefits [40]. In addition to these, weather conditions, lack of
transportation, poor facility,

Literature Review On Aerobic Training
JOURNAL REVIEW: AEROBIC FITNESS
Title: The effect of high intensity and continuous endurance training on aerobic capacity
Aerobic fitness is the body ability to exercise for prolonged time whereby most of the energy came
from the aerobic capacity and cardiovascular endurance. The most popular way been used to

this method of training involves performing exercise at a low intensity (57% VO2 max or 70% of

Milton Glaser : The Father Of Modern Design
"'You want to do things like that, where you feel you can actually change things.'" (A Brief History
of the "I Love New York" Logo, 2017) Milton Glaser is an artist that focuses his art around public
figures and public events and creates posters of these in an abstract way giving them a whole new
meaning. His life has been about art form the start and after college he kept pursuing art with four
college friends and founded Push Pin Studios. Though he moved on from there, he continued to stay
focused on graphic design with such projects as editing newspapers, designing restaurants, and
making an emblem that would speak for a state. He has accomplished so much in his lifetime and
has left an impact on the world of art.
Sometimes referred to as The Father of Modern Design, Milton Glaser was born in New York in the

Cooper Industries Case Analysis Essay
Cooper Industries' Corporate Strategy
Case Analysis
Company Vision
The vision of Cooper Industries, as stated in the case, was to do an 'outstanding job at the
unglamorous part by making necessary products of exceptional quality.' The goal was to operate in
industries that had become somewhat of a necessity for consumers. Examples of such industries
include: power transmission, hand tools, drilling and others. Cooper industries had started in 1833,
as an iron foundry, and had existed most of its 150 years as a small sized maker of engines and
compressors. However, all this changed in the 1960s, when the management decided to expand the
company to lessen its dependence on the capital expenditures of the cyclical natural gas business. ...

Cooper also divested many less profitable businesses over an eighteen year period from 1970 to
1988. The benefit added by the Cooper conglomerate to its business units justifies the costs
associated with a corporate / centralized control. Furthermore, Cooper's corporate management
effectively managed and invested in the best opportunities for growth with little political bias.
Production
In order to achieve its goals clear guidelines were set that specified the degree and timing of
acquisitions – focusing only on companies that exhibited stable earnings or earnings countercyclical
to the gas transmission industry. Cooper focused on acquisition targets that possessed strong assets
with high quality manufacturing and market–leading positions. Cooper continued to refine this
acquisition model seeking companies with stable earnings using well–known technologies that
served a broad customer base. Furthermore, Cooper focused on firms with high quality products and
recognized brand names.
In addition to acquisitions, Cooper brought significant systematic value to its businesses. Examples
of these contributions include, but are not limited to:
Finance
* the flow of financial resources to the individual businesses; * unity of purpose and focus under a
common corporate strategy (further supporting the firm's strategy as it relates to acquisitions and
divestitures); * FMV

Susan Cooper and Native Activism
In her book Spirited Encounters, Cooper mentioned "during her young adult life and through her
museum career, she is interested in "Native activism," especially "protests that focused on
museums" (xv). According to her, Native Americans were protesting the museums in hoping that
museums would give them back items that were once belong to them and their ancestors. For
example, Native Americans' request to get back Alcatraz Island from the government was denied
even though it was supposed to be theirs from the beginning (8). Protesters also seek to correct the
false information regarding Native Americans' life that was being display at the museums
(information assumed "correct" for years). Furthermore, museums seemed to be ignoring the ...

To Native Americans, some of the objects were "created by their makers with the intent that the
objects would disintegrate naturally," so it is wrong to try to preserve those objects (67). Moreover,
Native Americans think that if the objects were to be return to them, then it is not right for museums
to tell them how to take care of the objects (72). A successful protest, for example, is the protest
against exhibits that were being set up in celebration of Columbus Quincentenary. While Columbus
is view as "hero" in many American's eyes, he left Native Americans with a painful memory of
enslaving and the bad treatment from the Colonists. In protesting to stop the celebration, protestors
also hoped to re–educate the public about Columbus' arrival in the Natives' point of view (109–113).
Due to these protests, many exhibitions were canceled. The exhibition, Seed of Change at the
National Museum of Natural History tried to avoid the discussion of Columbus by focusing on
things rather than people (117). 3. NAGPRA specifies that American Indians can regain their
materials from institution that receives federal funds as long as they can provide proofs that those
items were taken from them without their approval (63). This law requires that federally funded
institutions must "inventory their collections and send reports of the inventories" to the tribal groups

Sheldon Cooper: Obsessive-Compulsive Di
The fictional character I will be writing my paper on is Sheldon Cooper. Sheldon is a tall brilliant
man in his mid–twenties from the CBS Television show The Big Bang Theory. Sheldon Cooper is a
theoretical physicist at Caltech who shares an apartment with his best friend, Leonard Hofstadter.
The show primarily takes place in their apartment where they are often visited by their two friends,
Rajesh Koothrappali and Howard Wolowitz. All four of them often find themselves involved in

Another example of Sheldon OCD rigidity would be during dinner. He has a daily food routine that
can cause him a lot of distress in his life when it doesn't go as scheduled. The schedule goes as

burger or Cheesecake Factory burger, Thursdays: Dinner: Giacomo's Pizza (sausage, mushrooms,
and light olives) Fridays: Dinner: Chang's Chinese Food: diced chicken with brown rice, spicy
mustard, and low–sodium soy sauce (G, 2016). OCD has dramatically changed the order of his life,
symptoms such as a germaphobe or having a particular spot on the couch are some of the many
things that Sheldon does as a result of his OCD. Sheldon compulsion has also lead him to repeat his
own words or make repetitive movements. For example, knocking on the door three times while
calling out the name such as: knock knock knock Penny, knock knock Penny, knock knock Penny. If
Penny, his next–door neighbor, opens the door after the second set of knocks, Sheldon would have
to finish knocking the third set of knocks because it left him with an unfinished feeling. Sheldon has
clearly shown throughout the show his obsessive–compulsions towards sitting in the same spot on
the couch, having a routine dinner schedule, and having a repetition for words or actions. As shown

Essay on Big Bang Theory
There has been a lot of research done on the influence media can have on society, in particular the
degrading images of women that are often seen in media. Since the second wave of the women's
rights movements these images were the object of scrutiny and an easy example of how women
were viewed. In modern society where women have made many strides towards equality why are
there still instances in popular media were women are negatively depicted? Have women come as
far as they think? The popular sitcom The Big Bang Theory negatively depicts the female characters
by reverting to a binary view of gender, in which the female characters are lacking, they can be
beautiful or smart however they cannot be both.

The Capote Character Analysis
Although Capote appears to be providing information and accounts on the town after the murders,
his true purpose is to illuminate the corruption permeating Holcomb; thus asserting that all places
that are innocent and serene are not immune from wicked influence. Capote, as though taking his
own finger and running it down the reader's spine, creates an eerie and shiver–inducing air around
Holcomb using juxtaposition. The Clutter's new appearances, posthumously formed, are described:
"Nancy wore her dress of cherry–red velvet, her brother a bright plaid shirt; the parents were more
sedately attired... and – and it was this, especially, that lent the scene an awful aura– the head of
each was completely encased in cotton, a swollen cocoon twice the size or an ordinary blown–up
balloon, and the cotton, because it had been sprayed with a glossy substance, twinkled like
Christmas–tree snow" (Capote 95). A jarring and nauseous feeling accompanies this excerpt, as the
town's most revered inhabitants are degraded down to faceless shells, inert, Q–tip shaped reminders
of loss and evil. The innocence of Bonnie, the dependability of Herb, and the intelligence of Nancy
and Kenyon have been negatively replaced, and therefore the true identities of the Clutters are
forever lost. As the Clutters were the viewed as the most upstanding citizens of Holcomb, the hurt
felt by the remainder of the town is not just over the family, but of the purity that Holcomb will
never reattain. What was once the Clutter family, and thus Holcomb itself, is forever gone, replaced
by malicious, shimmering cotton.
Capote further presses the loss of innocence and gain of corruption through symbolism, witnessed
during the time in which men from the community set fire to the blood–stained and destroyed
Clutter property. Unfolding in the line, "[t]he couch, a relic that Kenyon had rescued and mended
and that Nancy had slip–covered and piled with mottowed pillows, was a blood–splashed ruin...it
would have to be burned.. [along with] blood–soiled bedclothes, mattresses, a bedside rug, a Teddy–
bear doll" (Capote 78). These items, representing the larger whole of the Clutter property, symbolize
everything the Clutters were: the couch a stand–in for work

Riverdale Character Analysis
Riverdale is an American television program that is based primarily on the Archie comics which
were first released in the 1940's. The comics focus largely on a love triangle between the three main
characters, Betty Cooper, Veronica Lodge, and Archie Andrews. Unlike the television show, Betty
and Veronica see one another as frenemies and are constantly at odds over Archie, who is never at
fault for any of the mishaps that happen. The Archie comics were never big advocates of feminism
and instead focused primarily on Archie and the two female characters invented to fight over him,
cementing the idea that girls are only around to win boys affection. In contrast, Riverdale the
television show focuses on Betty and Veronica as friends instead of frenemies and builds upon the
idea that girls are smart, capable, and are stronger when they work together. The new television spin
on the original comics brings together the old characters and main plot points and puts an innovative
feminist attitude towards them to mesh them with the beliefs and issues of today's society. The
characters in this show are much more than the typical jock, nerd, good, bad stereotypes that are
commonly depicted in teenage dramas viewed on the television today. The women of Riverdale
prove that for positive change to take place, friendship must take precedent and sticking together as
girls is the most important aspect of driving forward social change. In the series premiere, the

Maximal Oxygen Uptake And Vo2max Is The Highest Rate At...
Maximal oxygen uptake or Vo2max is the highest rate at which the oxygen can be taken up and
utilized by the body during severe exercise (Bassett & Howley, 2000). Vo2max is wide–ly used both
in sports and clinical practice and its measurement allows us to assess cardi–orespiratory fitness, one
of the most powerful markers of health (Mayorga–Vega, Aguilar–Soto & Viciana 2015; Bruce,
Kusumi & Hosmer 1973). Vo2max also provides essential di–agnostic and prognostic information
for clinical populations, such as patients with heart failure (Sartor, Vernillo, de Morree, et al., 2013).
The most precise method for the assessment of maximal oxygen consumption is the direct
measurement which is considered the 'gold standard' (Noonan & Dean, 2000). However, the use of
this method is limited in several settings such as in sports clubs, schools, or in large scale research
studies (Pescatello & American College of Sports Medicine, 2014) because it requires appropriate
and expensive equipment, supervision by trained personnel and a max–imal level of exertion which
cannot be achieved by all the individuals and especially those who may be limited by pain, fatigue,
abnormal gait, impaired balance or those with cardio–vascular problems(Evans, Ferrar, Smith, et al.,

home settings but there are sundry fac–tors which must be considered when we select one of them.

The Music Of Guns N ' Roses '
Guns N' Roses is a heavy metal band that helped the rise of heavy metal as the mainstream genre in
the 1980's. Their music has a unique sound with influences from heavy metal and hair metal/glam
metal periods. One song that illustrates both of these musical influences is the song "Welcome to the
Jungle" on the album "Appetite for Destruction".
The members of Guns N' Roses got their start as a band in Los Angeles, California. At the time of
their band rising to fame, America was still in the transition of heavy metal becoming a mainstream
genre again. Although metal was present throughout the 1980's it was not until the late 80's when it
achieved mainstream success. The popular music genres at the time were hip–hop, electronic music,
soft rock, alternative rock, and pop music. Country music was also a popular genre of music in the
early 1980's but eventually got less popular. While Guns n' Roses were building up their popularity
it took nearly a year to get the gigs they were looking for. In that year the odds were against the
band. They had a hard time when it came to getting gigs because "... a series of frenzied, violent
shows landed the Gunners on the shit list of everyone, including club owner, rival bands and the
press – everyone but the fans, who grew in numbers with each passing gig," (Del, "Axl Rose: The

How Does Leonard Have A Miscommunication

when Leonard realizes that Sheldon's responses have nothing to do with Leonard's issue, he says, "Is
it possible we're having two different conversations?" Sheldon

A Beautiful Day Takes a Tragic Turn

  • 1. Another Beautiful Day Interrupted The sun is beaming down on I and coppers face as we take our daily walk, on the ocean shore in Florida. The sun is a bright yellow surrounded with a blue sky, filled with clouds. The sand is stretched alongside I and cooper; white and clear. Only my foot prints and coopers paw prints left behind. The sand is very soft. My feet and coopers paws sink into it with every step. The salty ocean air burns our noses. The waves sparkle and glitter from the sun beaming down on it. The ocean is a dark blue color with white caps as far as we can see. The waves our small. "Go get it Copper!" I yell throwing the stick into the the ocean. Cooper is a Labrador,he's been part of the family for 7 years now. Cooper catches my eyes , he's holding something that is shiny. I can't tell what it is with the sun in my eyes. It's most likely a can he's been bringing them back to shore lately. "Come on boy!" I yell out to him, trying to encourage him to swim faster. I can now see what Cooper is holding , I was right it's a can. For some reason I'm curious to find out whats in the can. As he's a few feet away from shore, I run to the edge of the water, the wind is blowing water across my ankles. "Which you got Cooper?" I ask him as he looses grip of the can, letting it fall on the sand. Coopers barking as I pick up the can. The cans label reads " Del Monte Whole Kernel Corn". I straggle to open the can led "It's sealed shut Cooper we have to wait until we get home to open it." Water is dripping of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. James Fenimore Cooper 's Impact On American Literature James Fenimore Cooper had a very interesting life, molded American literature, and influenced many popular authors, such as Herman Melville, Richard Henry Dana, Jr., Francis Parkman, and even Mark Twain, through his "literary offenses."(1) The experiences Cooper had throughout his life shaped his rogue character and literary style. The evidence of Cooper's impact to American literature is well documented. James Fenimore Cooper was born on September 15, 1789 in Burlington, New Jersey to William Cooper and Elizabeth Fenimore. James was the last of twelve children; only seven survived childhood: Richard, Hannah, Isaac, Ann, William and Samuel. Within the first year of James' birth, he moved from New Jersey to the source of the Susquehanna ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the age of 12, William Cooper resolved to send James to a Latin based boarding school run by Reverend Thomas Ellison. James' closest companion in boarding school was William Jay, the second son of governor John Jay. They used to adventure around New York, especially in the excavated plot of land which Saint Peter's Church would be built on, with other boys who would later become business for the state. This foreshadowed James' trickster attitude. By the age of thirteen, James entered Yale College. Some evidence to the claims of James' rogue character surface during his time at Yale. Simply stated: Cooper was a prankster. It is reported that he put a donkey in a teacher's classroom, and many other tricks. James never got into large trouble until his biggest prank: he blew up another student's dorm door with gunpowder. By the age of 16, James Fenimore Cooper was expelled from Yale College. Shortly after James left Yale, he enrolled in the Navy. There is little to no information about this time of his life other than it being a basis for his first book: Afloat and Ashore: A Sea Tale. On December 22, 1809, his father, William Cooper died from a blow to the back of the head delivered by a political opponent; this was a devastating episode as James was at sea when his father passed. Shortly after, James met Susan DeLancey, whom he married on on January 1, 1811. The DeLanceys were a wealthy family related to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Overall Purpose/Hypothesis Of The Article, Purpose The overall purpose/hypothesis of the article, was it to find out how physical activity is linked to the preservation of neurocognition, but more specifically to address the fundamental question–– "does exercise improve cognition?" (Masley et al., 2009). The secondary reason for this study is to use a technological method to determine the field of cognitive domains, in relation to memory, mental speed, reaction time, attention, and cognitive flexibility. Subjects The subjects from this study were volunteers from the Carillon Wellness Center, St Anthony's Hospital, St. Petersburg, Florida. The statistics showed that there was no significant difference between both the control group and the combined intervention group in relation it age, BMI, years of education, and VO2max fitness. The only shown difference was gender, a higher percentage of women were added onto the study. The study showed that there was no statistical significant change in VO2max levels. "VO2max levels had increased by 6.5% in the control group, 12% in the moderate intervention group, 17.3 % in the combined intervention group, and 21.3 % in the high exercise intervention group" (Masley et al., 2009). The independent t–test showed the comparison between the control group and the high exercise group was rather significant, with a p value of 0.53. Also, the Spearman rank correlation coefficient compared the change from the control, to the moderate, to the high exercise groups, with a coefficient of 0.23 and a VO2 max p value of 0.06. Neurocognitive data that was analyzed by MANOVA, was collected in Table 2. For this study, there was a high significant difference is the observes psychomotor speed, attention and cognitive flexibility, with a p value of 0.03. • 7. Twin Fans: A Narrative Fiction "Lil?" Angela called, setting the groceries down on the kitchen counter. The television was on and playing an old episode of Twin Peaks, Lillian's favorite show. Lillian, however, wasn't in there watching it. Angela put the small amount of groceries away before calling out again. "Lillian! I'm home!" Her voice echoed through the house and empty halls. The only sound was the faint murmur of Agent Dale Cooper asking for a damn fine cup of coffee. The bathroom turned up empty. Angela went up to Lillian's writing room and turned on the light, illuminating the corner desk with Lil's beloved MacBook on it. She looked at her collection of mermaid antiques and souvenirs. "Lil?" she said one last time before stepping down into a nightmare. Everything was like it was the last time she'd been down there. The dryer there where her daddy did his filthy deed. The window that opened to the ground level beside the house, where she had assumed the other man had come in from that night. And there was Lillian. Hanging from the rafters and swinging by her neck like a fucked–up piñata at a kids party. Her pale blond hair hung limply in her bloated face and over eyes that bulged wildly from their sockets. The room stank of piss and shit and a thin trail of vomit was splashed down the front of Lil's pretty blue sweater. Angela wasn't ready for the sight of her baby sister hanging from the joists like a piece of meat on a hook. For a moment, all she could do was tremble and feel the hot tears run down her face. • 11. Maximal Oxygen Consumption And The Oxygen Maximal oxygen consumption or VO2 max refers to the single maximum oxygen consumption that an individual can utilize during graded–intensity exercise. VO2 max can be assessed through properly administered submaximal oxygen consumption test which can include exercise test modes of treadmill, cycle ergometer or step test. In an individual, VO2 max can be determined by the cardiovascular system 's ability to deliver oxygenated blood to working muscles and then the muscle 's ability to extract that oxygen from the blood and generate energy for work. Influencing factors can include genetics, decline of VO2 max with aging, and finally aerobic training can positively influence an individual 's VO2 max and overall aerobic fitness. Individuals with high VO2 maxes often have greater overall aerobic fitness, which includes high efficiency, or running economy, better glycogen storage and is often an indicator of success when completing aerobic tasks of over 20 minutes. On the contrary, a low VO2 max can predict poor overall aerobic fitness which can include cardiovascular disease and problems with transporting oxygen to working muscles. (3) In these laboratory exercise test, submaximal intensity exercises were used to determine an individual 's predicted VO2 max which allowed the assessment of their overall aerobic fitness and the ability to compare the correlations between tests. Before performing any submaximal exercise test, the individual should be in the proper state of mine ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Moralism In The Movie High Noon High Noon, the shocking American film from the 1950's, shines light on the true nature of one standing their ground when the world is against them. This movie was written to represent the Red Scare, when Hollywood members were falsely accused of being communist. These actors were forced to give names of others who they thought were "communists" or else they would be punished. If the "communist" actors gave out names, however, they would be ruining other's careers. Some of the people refused to give names. Like the Marshall in the movie High Noon, these brave actors stood up for what they believed in. Nevertheless, the other members of Hollywood around were not very willing to support. They were like the townspeople in High Noon. They didn't want to risk their own reputation and safety. In the film, Zinnemann successfully revealed the hardships of those falsely convicted, and exposed the hearts of those who saw the false conviction, but did nothing about it in order to protect themselves. Directed by Fred Zinnemann, this thrilling motion picture's main character is a marshal named Cain, played by the actor Gary Cooper. He's asked by the townspeople to relocate because a few villains plan to kill him at high noon. Instead of heeding to the advice of the townspeople, Cain stands up for what he believes in, and stays to fight all four of the villains. People slowly remove themselves from him, and refuse to fight by his side. He has to face his enemies alone. High Noon is like many other works of literature which praised heroes who fought the fight alone. Helen Hannah, in the movie Judgment was mocked and put on trial for her religious beliefs. Tousle, in the novel Straw into Gold, broke out of the crowd, and spoke on behalf of innocent people being claimed as rebels. These heroes were ready and willing to put their life on the line for what they believe. However, it was not easy for any of them. Just like the other authors, Zinnemann wanted the audience to see the internal struggle the hero was having. The look on the marshal's face, the weariness in his gait, and his conflicting thoughts when he walked into the bar, and punched one of the men in the face, and was about to leave on the horse, but changed his ... • 15. A Short Note On Maximal Oxygen Consumption ( Vo2max ) Introduction Maximal oxygen consumption (VO2max), the highest recorded rate of oxygen consumption during a graded and exhaustive exercise test, is a top indicator of cardio–pulmonary endurance in humans and is believed to correlate with overall health (Strijk, Proper, Klaver, Beek, & Mechelen, 2010). VO2max of an individual declines with age regardless of exercise status, but exercise may lead to a significantly slower decline in VO2max during the aging process (Katzel, Sorkin, & Fleg, 2001) Many factors related to aging such as decrease of maximal heart rate, stroke volume, the gain of body mass, decreased muscle mass, and decreased health status are thought to be the primary contributing factors leading to a decline in VO2max (Grimsmo, Arnesen, & Maehlum, 2010). Individuals that have decreased their physical activity levels or developed health problems had a greater decline in VO2max values, over a longitudinal study, than their healthy counterparts (Grimsmo et al., 2010). Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) affects individuals by causing airflow restriction, impairing their exercise capacity (Ortega, Montemayor, Sanchez, & Cabello, 1995). A VO2max test has the ability to help identify COPD that may not have been apparent prior to this test and can indicate the severity of the disease (Ortega et al, 1995). One metabolic equivalent of task (MET) is the amount of energy used to sit in a chair for one minute which is equivalent to a VO2max value of 3.5ml/kg/min ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He is a really good reporter whether it is reporting in the field, reading off a teleprompter, or even interview a person. • 19. The Big Bang Theory By Sheldon Cooper Appendix: I will be analyzing The Big Bang Theory, a popular TV show which features the lives of four gifted scientists working at Caltech. I will be analyzing the communication issues that Sheldon Cooper, a revered physicist faces on a day–to–day basis. It is safe to say that every character has been frustrated with Sheldon at one point or another mainly down to his style of communication. Being extremely gifted and unexposed to various groups of people, Sheldon's communication style has been a difficult one for friends and strangers to get used to. Sheldon isn't rude or difficult to deal with on purpose. It is due to his lack of experience with human interaction in different scenarios that makes him socially awkward. However, with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This shows that Sheldon is not constructing his dispositions on cold hard facts, but rather because he feels superior through the groups he belongs to. On countless occasions Sheldon can be caught making fun of his friend Howard who is an engineer from MIT, Penny who is a simple waitress at the Cheesecake Factory and other colleagues from his workplace. However, upon meeting Amy, Sheldon begins to transition from his predisposed mindset to a more accepting one. This can be attributed to Sheldon altering his spiritual self and finally knocking down barriers that were due to association by similarity (Adler, 6). At first, Sheldon only wanted to communicate with people like himself because his attitudes reflected that anyone unlike him was unworthy. However, through interacting with Amy, her influence of biology (which he previously determined as a worthless field) accompanied by her choice of friends (Bernadette and Penny) creates a major impact on Sheldon. He becomes able to speak with people unlike himself and portray respect for their field, even if deep down he doesn't care. Being able to present a social self that displays respect even if your beliefs are different shows that you are in control of your communication and dialogue. That may seem like very little progress however, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Wedding Crashers Stereotypes Wedding Crashers Wedding Crashers was the return of the "R" rated adult comedy movie, it was the sixth biggest grosser in 2005, it is a sex comedy about two men who crash weddings to meet single woman and deceive them to get them into bed. I believe the movie "Wedding Crashers" is against feminism. The two male characters treat women like sex objects to gain their need for sexual satisfaction. The movie stereotypes women to make them seem like sex objects, disregarding their personality and intelligence. I think the target audiences are men who are in their late 20s and early 30s that are successful and enjoy humorous adult comedy. Chazz Reingold is the man who passed on all the rules to being a wedding crasher to John and Jeremy. He is a middle–aged man and still lives with his mother at her house. He rarely crashes weddings anymore because he has found an unlikely success in meeting girls by crashing funerals. He says "grief is nature 's most powerful aphrodisiac", therefore implying he is using the vulnerability of women at funerals to gain his sexual desires. He is taking advantage of women who are not in the right state of mind, which is very low in standards because again he is treating them as an ordinary object disregarding their feelings and intellect. • 23. The Dark is Rising by Susan Copper The main theme in the book, The Dark is Rising, is obviously the conflict between the dark and light. It is one of the many suspenseful fantasy books about the battle between good and evil, Susan Cooper wrote about the dark, light, and the mystical powers. To start off, the evil side of the story is about the Rider. The Rider is the antagonist who was very close to defeating the light and good to rule over, but was triumphed over. Of course, the dark didn't expect this result to happen. He was waiting and planning for the Old One's eleventh birthday to end the light once and for all. This part of his plan was important because without that special occasion happening, he couldn't do anything to gain eternal and strong powers. One of his plans was to stop Will from joining all the signs. So, the rider had Maggie Barnes, the farm's rounded face, red cheeked dairymaid, to take it. This was very close to being accomplished, but it wasn't thanks to Merriam, Wills' "guardian" as an Old One. The Rider even tried to scare Will and his community to stop him, with the weather using lighting, snow, rain, and any cold, spine chilling weather. Luckily, the light was there facing any threat to come into the world. While the dark was throwing stratagems, the light was preparing as best as they can with Will, the Old One. Will had so many things to learn and control in time before the dark rules over. Fortunately, he had people like Merriam who he trusted to help him. And, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Since the first human study in 2006, BA is commonly found in most popular pre– workout supplements on the market today (Trexler, et al., 2015). BA is a naturally occurring amino acid produced in the liver. BA is also contained in animal proteins such as turkey and beef, and therefore can be increased somewhat through the consumption of animal protein. Significant increases, however, require various means of supplementation. Beta–alanine has been cited as a rate–limiting precursor to carnosine synthesis (Harris, et al., 2006). BA supplementation has been shown to increase levels of carnosine in skeletal muscle. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additional roles of carnosine beyond Ca2+ regulation and pH buffer include its ability to act as a scavenger of free radicals and singlet oxygen, both of which are not only damaging, but also limit performance (Kohen, et al.,1988). Regarding BA supplementation and administration, there has been some opposing views on which means of supplementation is most beneficial. Some research suggests that BA is most effective when front–loaded. Consuming 4 to 6g per day, preferably with meals has demonstrated the maximum desired effect, with more significant benefits seen after four weeks (Harris, et al., 2009; Stegen, et al., 2013). Some clinicians, however, maintain that oral administration is minimally effective. A 2016 study by Sharpe, & Macias demonstrated a definite improvement in performance in short duration, high–intensity exercise by athletes using a topical gel to administer carnosine transdermally. The study does maintain that more testing does need to be done, however, brings up scientific reasons why oral ingestion may be less efficient due to GI damage to the supplement. The purpose of this literature review is to provide insight into the effects of beta–alanine in performance. The research demonstrates that BA ingestion is, in fact, beneficial to athletic performance, with a significant portion of data showing it is more efficient in shorter duration, moderate to high–intensity activities lasting 60 to 240 seconds specifically. ... In summary of the episode "The Tangerine Factor", Penny says yes to going out with Leonard but is restless because he is different from the guys she usually dates. While in "The Cognitive Regeneration", Penny and Leonard are seen dating until troubles arise as Penny's ex–boyfriend appears. The ideal womanly traits are shown through Penny's character; however, Penny's role in the TV show seem to give her more of a feminist approach. At the same time, Leonard's traits of masculinity are put into question due to his character but also creates a unique perspective on patriarchy. Commitment towards family, work pressure, and time have been rated as common barriers people face to be physically active [8]. Recent advances in technology have resulted in an increases in time spent sedentarily, especially at work [37], but also in leisure time [38, 39]. In addition, long hours of work is specifically a barrier for adults as they are mentally exhausted and do not feel like exercising [40]. Sheldon is a tall brilliant man in his mid–twenties from the CBS Television show The Big Bang Theory. Sheldon Cooper is a theoretical physicist at Caltech who shares an apartment with his best friend, Leonard Hofstadter. The show primarily takes place in their apartment where they are often visited by their two friends, Rajesh Koothrappali and Howard Wolowitz. All four of them often find themselves involved in funny situations, at first with just Penny, who happens to live next door to Leonard and Sheldon, but later on with other characters. Most of the television series is centered around Sheldon Cooper who suffers from obsessive–compulsive disorder. His behavior ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another example of Sheldon OCD rigidity would be during dinner. He has a daily food routine that can cause him a lot of distress in his life when it doesn't go as scheduled. The schedule goes as followed: Mondays: Dinner: Thai Food: Mee Krob with extra peanuts, Tuesdays: Dinner: Big Boy burger or Cheesecake Factory burger, Thursdays: Dinner: Giacomo's Pizza (sausage, mushrooms, and light olives) Fridays: Dinner: Chang's Chinese Food: diced chicken with brown rice, spicy mustard, and low–sodium soy sauce (G, 2016). OCD has dramatically changed the order of his life, symptoms such as a germaphobe or having a particular spot on the couch are some of the many things that Sheldon does as a result of his OCD. Sheldon compulsion has also lead him to repeat his own words or make repetitive movements. For example, knocking on the door three times while calling out the name such as: knock knock knock Penny, knock knock Penny, knock knock Penny. If Penny, his next–door neighbor, opens the door after the second set of knocks, Sheldon would have to finish knocking the third set of knocks because it left him with an unfinished feeling. Sheldon has clearly shown throughout the show his obsessive–compulsions towards sitting in the same spot on the couch, having a routine dinner schedule, and having a repetition for words or actions. As shown through his actions, we come to the conclusion that Sheldon suffers from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 60. Essay on Big Bang Theory There has been a lot of research done on the influence media can have on society, in particular the degrading images of women that are often seen in media. Since the second wave of the women's rights movements these images were the object of scrutiny and an easy example of how women were viewed. In modern society where women have made many strides towards equality why are there still instances in popular media were women are negatively depicted? Have women come as far as they think? The popular sitcom The Big Bang Theory negatively depicts the female characters by reverting to a binary view of gender, in which the female characters are lacking, they can be beautiful or smart however they cannot be both. • 62. The Capote Character Analysis Although Capote appears to be providing information and accounts on the town after the murders, his true purpose is to illuminate the corruption permeating Holcomb; thus asserting that all places that are innocent and serene are not immune from wicked influence. Capote, as though taking his own finger and running it down the reader's spine, creates an eerie and shiver–inducing air around Holcomb using juxtaposition. The Clutter's new appearances, posthumously formed, are described: "Nancy wore her dress of cherry–red velvet, her brother a bright plaid shirt; the parents were more sedately attired... and – and it was this, especially, that lent the scene an awful aura– the head of each was completely encased in cotton, a swollen cocoon twice the size or an ordinary blown–up balloon, and the cotton, because it had been sprayed with a glossy substance, twinkled like Christmas–tree snow" (Capote 95). A jarring and nauseous feeling accompanies this excerpt, as the town's most revered inhabitants are degraded down to faceless shells, inert, Q–tip shaped reminders of loss and evil. The innocence of Bonnie, the dependability of Herb, and the intelligence of Nancy and Kenyon have been negatively replaced, and therefore the true identities of the Clutters are forever lost. As the Clutters were the viewed as the most upstanding citizens of Holcomb, the hurt felt by the remainder of the town is not just over the family, but of the purity that Holcomb will never reattain. What was once the Clutter family, and thus Holcomb itself, is forever gone, replaced by malicious, shimmering cotton. Capote further presses the loss of innocence and gain of corruption through symbolism, witnessed during the time in which men from the community set fire to the blood–stained and destroyed Clutter property. Unfolding in the line, "[t]he couch, a relic that Kenyon had rescued and mended and that Nancy had slip–covered and piled with mottowed pillows, was a blood–splashed ruin...it would have to be burned.. [along with] blood–soiled bedclothes, mattresses, a bedside rug, a Teddy– bear doll" (Capote 78). These items, representing the larger whole of the Clutter property, symbolize everything the Clutters were: the couch a stand–in for work ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 68. Riverdale Character Analysis Riverdale is an American television program that is based primarily on the Archie comics which were first released in the 1940's. The comics focus largely on a love triangle between the three main characters, Betty Cooper, Veronica Lodge, and Archie Andrews. Unlike the television show, Betty and Veronica see one another as frenemies and are constantly at odds over Archie, who is never at fault for any of the mishaps that happen. The Archie comics were never big advocates of feminism and instead focused primarily on Archie and the two female characters invented to fight over him, cementing the idea that girls are only around to win boys affection. In contrast, Riverdale the television show focuses on Betty and Veronica as friends instead of frenemies and builds upon the idea that girls are smart, capable, and are stronger when they work together. The new television spin on the original comics brings together the old characters and main plot points and puts an innovative feminist attitude towards them to mesh them with the beliefs and issues of today's society. The characters in this show are much more than the typical jock, nerd, good, bad stereotypes that are commonly depicted in teenage dramas viewed on the television today. The women of Riverdale prove that for positive change to take place, friendship must take precedent and sticking together as girls is the most important aspect of driving forward social change. • 72. Maximal Oxygen Uptake And Vo2max Is The Highest Rate At... Maximal oxygen uptake or Vo2max is the highest rate at which the oxygen can be taken up and utilized by the body during severe exercise (Bassett & Howley, 2000). Vo2max is wide–ly used both in sports and clinical practice and its measurement allows us to assess cardi–orespiratory fitness, one of the most powerful markers of health (Mayorga–Vega, Aguilar–Soto & Viciana 2015; Bruce, Kusumi & Hosmer 1973). Vo2max also provides essential di–agnostic and prognostic information for clinical populations, such as patients with heart failure (Sartor, Vernillo, de Morree, et al., 2013). The most precise method for the assessment of maximal oxygen consumption is the direct measurement which is considered the 'gold standard' (Noonan & Dean, 2000). However, the use of this method is limited in several settings such as in sports clubs, schools, or in large scale research studies (Pescatello & American College of Sports Medicine, 2014) because it requires appropriate and expensive equipment, supervision by trained personnel and a max–imal level of exertion which cannot be achieved by all the individuals and especially those who may be limited by pain, fatigue, abnormal gait, impaired balance or those with cardio–vascular problems(Evans, Ferrar, Smith, et al., 2015). As a consequence, many indirect tests have been developed for use in sports, clinical and home settings but there are sundry fac–tors which must be considered when we select one of them. • 74. The Music Of Guns N ' Roses ' Guns N' Roses is a heavy metal band that helped the rise of heavy metal as the mainstream genre in the 1980's. Their music has a unique sound with influences from heavy metal and hair metal/glam metal periods. One song that illustrates both of these musical influences is the song "Welcome to the Jungle" on the album "Appetite for Destruction". The members of Guns N' Roses got their start as a band in Los Angeles, California. At the time of their band rising to fame, America was still in the transition of heavy metal becoming a mainstream genre again. Although metal was present throughout the 1980's it was not until the late 80's when it achieved mainstream success. The popular music genres at the time were hip–hop, electronic music, soft rock, alternative rock, and pop music. Country music was also a popular genre of music in the early 1980's but eventually got less popular. While Guns n' Roses were building up their popularity it took nearly a year to get the gigs they were looking for. In that year the odds were against the band. They had a hard time when it came to getting gigs because "... a series of frenzied, violent shows landed the Gunners on the shit list of everyone, including club owner, rival bands and the press – everyone but the fans, who grew in numbers with each passing gig," (Del, "Axl Rose: The Rolling Stone Interview"). Once they had a large fan base, Tom Zutaut noticed the bands popularity and decided to sign them to Geffen Records in 1986. Even though ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
