2. Father John Misty's album 'I Love You,
Honeybear' has an advertisement that could
appear in magazines. Unlike any other adverts
I have seen in magazines myself, this one is
landscape, this could be a secret tactic that it
actually covers over 2 pages in a magazine.
This means it would be bigger and easily
detectable and has more chance in catching
the attention of the reader.
Adding onto that, the actual poster is incredibly
colourful and the drawing is printed on the
album itself – front and back. I find it very
different to your usual album
cover/design/theme which gives it more
possibility to the catch the eye due to its
originality and different approach.
3. This is the magazine advert for the new Wolf
Alice album – Visions Of A Life – it has the
album cover very central as it is the key
feature of the advert because people will
know what they should look for in shops
such as HMV etc. This advert is from the
week before as it says 'FRIDAY' underneath
the title of the album and the bands
recognisable name/font.
It follows a similar scheme to the last album
how it is very simplistic and straight to the
point. Moreover, at the very bottom it has the
ratings from all the different magazines that
the advert has probably featured in. (all 4 or
5 stars to express its hopeful success).
4. This advert is actually a tour advert/poster, I couldn’t
seem to find a album poster for this band in
particular, however there was images that
represented a TV advert for their ‘new album’ at the
time. Nevertheless they all follow a particular
scheme which involves a nice landscape and/or a
sunset as the background picture. This is to express
the mellow music as you wouldn’t put a nice scenery
as a background for a heavy rock band, whereas it
fits with Kodaline’s style of music.
In addition the band name/logo is visible in large
writing to show the listener/person reading the
magazine who this tour/album is all about. The
posters are very similar to the actual album covers
which implies they like to keep things in a certain
pattern to make something more easily noticeable
that it is something by themselves.
