Presentation questionnaire part 1 analysis
1. The results show that the majority of people who are more likely to take the time to fill out a
questionnaire are of the female gender.
2. The responses we received were mostly
of the age range of 15-17. This reflects
on the type of target audience we aim to
reach out to. However a few results
were of an older age, but their other
answers fit in with the younger age
category; this suggests that opinions of
different age groups blur together in the
areas of thriller films.
3. The answers to this question show that the sub-genre our audience likes most is
crime, closely followed by psychological.
4. These results will really help influence us when we make our thriller opening,
knowing that 91% of our audience said non-diegetic sound helps build tension
is crucial for us to know.
5. The majority of people enjoy thrillers based off urban
myths/legends; this shows the different tastes people have and
gives an insight to how our audience think.
6. When it came to a thriller setting, the location of both a house and a hospital were very
high up. This will help influence our final outcome as we now know how to best please
our target audience. The results suggest that people prefer the location to be a familiar
place, so they can relate to the characters situation, this is important as it feeds and helps
create a more tense and distressing atmosphere.
7. The bar graph shows the preponderance of our audience
prefers to see the casting to be a male lead. This suggests
people like to see the stereotypical gender roles of men being
the more dominant and action involved.
8. The results from this question show that our
audience enjoy a variety of different type of
thriller films as many answers had I different
director.
9. The highest answer for the question on symbolism was setting.
This shows us how our audiences view films, the effect it has on
them and the aspects of a scene they pick out and
focus/concentrate on.
10. Most people out of our audience have shown they prefer no
dialogue in the opening scene – this information is useful as it
will help us structure our final piece.
