2. The feedback I had gathered from my target audience was essential to my
work. Their reviews on my production allowed me to improve my film and
also improve my next performances as I was aware of what the audience
enjoyed about the film and what they believed could be improved.
We received feedback through online feedback through twitter polls and
Survey Monkey, and word of mouth through recorded feedback and both our
pre-questionnaire and post-questionnaire.
FEEDBACK
3. The reason for gathering audience feedback was so that we could ensure that
certain elements of the film were made clear e.g. the genre and the narrative.
We received the information needed and were pleased that the audience knew
that the genre was ‘dramatic thriller’ and were clear on the narrative and the
theme of mental illness within the production.
4. PRE- QUESTIONNAIRE AND POST-
QUESTIONNAIRE
The pre-questionnaire was created on word and we printed out multiple copies and sent them off to
people from our target audience. This process was very long as we had to print them, send them off
and then wait for them to be returned and calculate the percentages etc…For these reasons, we
decided that for the post-questionnaire we would use Survey Monkey as it was easily accessible for
our audience and the production team and calculated all of the percentages for us and we created
graphs from this automated information.
5. We used graphs for both the pre-questionnaire and post-questionnaire graphs in order to present
our data clearly. It is clear through this data that we found that our audience were
clear about the genre and overall narrative of the production.
6. We had a mixture of males and females from the age range 15-35 from a sample of 20
people. There were 11 females and 8 males and although it was uneven, it was
representative of each gender.
We provided multiple options for the age range and predicted the answers beforehand as
we believed Replica would be best suited for the younger audience even though an older
audience would enjoy it. The majority of our audience are from ages 15-20 and the age
group of 31-35 had the least amount of audience members.
The majority of our audience liked the idea of creating a cross genre, so we came to the
conclusion that creating a dramatic thriller, appealing to 85% of our audience, was the best
option for us.
Only 30% of our target audience have not seen a dramatic thriller film. This does not
affect us as this does not necessarily mean they do not want to see one.
Due to the elements of the drama genre within our film, it is understandable why most of
the audience do not believe they will relate to the characters. The 65% of people that
believe they will relate to the characters means that due to the drama genre they know that
the characters will be relatable, typical of this genre.

7. Based on the synopsis, ¾ of our sample target audience would watch our film.
40% of our sample do not believe that our title ‘Replica’ is a good title for a dramatic
thriller. However, the other 60% believe that it is a good name for our production. Due
to the close gap in statistics, our group had a discussion to see whether or not we
should change the title. However, we believed that the title best suited our narrative so
decided to keep it.
After reading our synopsis, 90% of our sample agreed that they would recommend
Replica to others. This gave us the impression that our sample enjoyed the narrative and
that, the sample being representative of our entire target audience, the rest of our
audience would enjoy it.
The majority of our sample believed that this film would appeal to the ages 15-35 based
on the synopsis and script given to them. This percentage is also strengthened by the
fact that the people that completed the questionnaire were between 15 and 35.
After reviewing our script, the strongest aspect of our film chosen by the sample was
the narrative. Only 15% of our target audience believed that the setting was the
strongest aspect of our production, meaning we had to sit and evaluate what to change.
We discussed changes and followed through with a number of them, for example,
changing the location of the final scene in order to add more to the mise-en-scene.

8. Again, our sample consisted of majority females and the video above demonstrates this.
We provided the same options for the age range as in the pre-questionnaire and the
responses we received were equal between the older ages. However the age range of 15-
20 was most popular, just as in the pre-questionnaire.
The majority of our sample believed that the narrative was clear. However, a
substantial amount of the respondents believed that it was unclear, meaning that we had
to discuss what within our film caused confusion. We believed that the theme of mental
illness caused confusion so to better portray this we would have had to make the
voiceover clearer.
The majority of respondents believed that that our film incorporated both elements of
both the drama and thriller genres. However, a large amount of our sample concluded
that the drama elements were showcased more than the thriller elements. Nobody
believed that neither genres were presented, meaning we created a production
successfully depicting elements of one or more of the genres chosen.
Due to the elements of the drama genre included within the production, it was
important that the characters were relatable for the target audience. 70% of the
audience were able to relate to the characters in Replica. Not only does it show that we
are able to successfully portray the drama genre but also that our actors were able to
portray the correct emotions and themes to the audience in order to create a connection
between them.

9. Unfortunately, just under half of our respondents did not understand that Eve suffers from a
mental illness. As mental health is the main theme within our production, it shows that
maybe we should have come up with different ideas to be able to depict this issue to the
audience. The answers to this question also allows us to gain a better understanding of why a
large percentage of our sample did not understand the narrative.
Only 55% of our respondents believed that the use of voiceover was effective as opposed to
heavy use of dialogue. During production, we believed that voiceover would be a better
technique in explaining the narrative to the audience even though it was quite risky due to the
lack of action within the film, however it was popular amongst the majority of our chosen
sample.
Sound, being a vital role in our film, was used to externalise the emotions of the characters in
order to make the narrative even clearer. 80% of our audience believed that sound aided their
understanding of the film as they had a very clear method of being able to use sound to
identify the feelings of the characters.
Our target audience were all divided on which aspect of our production could be improved
on. The majority of the sample believed the narrative was the weakest aspect of our
production, followed by sound and characters. Cinematography and sound were most
popular amongst the audience and they believed these did not need much improving.
We asked our audience to end the questionnaire by rating the production out of five and the
majority of them rated it a 4. This suggested to us that overall Replica is a good to excellent
film.

10. WWW EBI
I was very pleased with the outcome
of my production as it was to a good
standard that was enjoyed by my
target audience.
However, there were a few elements
that could have been improved such
as the narrative which could have
been made clearer.
My favourite aspects of the
production were costume and
cinematography which strengthened
the production and made it conform
to the themes and aesthetics of
dramatic thrillers.
I feel that we could have added more
shots during the park scenes in order
to make the film more immersive
and understandable for the audience
as this could have portrayed the
theme of mental illness clearer to
the audience.
I was pleased with how our
production team worked together
throughout the pre-production,
production and post-production in
order to complete a product that we
were all passionate about.
I believe that our communication
about the order of certain shots and
sound could have been improved in
order for a more smooth running
editing process.
