Question 3
What have you learned from your
audience feedback?
Audience Feedback
– I was able to use audience feedback for my ancillary text and my music video to make it look more professional through the
ideas that my peers and teachers gave me. I presented my music video and both ancillary texts in front of my class to allow
them to watch it and give me feedback.
– One idea I received to improve my video was to cut the shots more often and to the beat. I took this advice and found that I
didn’t have enough decent shots for the video, so I ended up re-filming a few to include more shots, which enabled me to
cut every 3-6 seconds. This made my video look more realistic and made it fit to the genre better.
– For my ancillary texts, I got some feeback to possibly make the images black and white so it would look slightly ‘different’
and ‘indie’ to fit the genre. I took this feedback into consideration and created a second digipak and magazine advert in black
and white. However, I didn’t think that it fit very well to the theme I was aiming for, therefore kept it in the style I used
previously.
– One point of feedback that I received from my peers was the fact that throughout the music video, the lighting isn’t
consistent, this is mainly due to the fact that I was unable to use the same camera I did in the first shoot which affected the
lighting situation as it wasn’t as good quality as the camera I used to begin with. Also, I filmed at a different time of day,
therefore it is darker in some shots than others. However I have tried to resolve this issue by using video effects on Adobe
Premier Pro to help me generate a brighter level of light on the shots that were darker.
Survey Feedback
– I created a survey on a word document and printed it out to hand out to 20 people of different age
groups and genders. This enabled me to get an insight into how certain audience feel about my music
video and ancillary texts. Here is some examples of the results I got.

Audience Feedback Evaluation
– From my feedback, I discovered that music videos are very popular and are gaining great attention from
multiple audiences rapidly. I found out that the most popular music genres were indie/pop which
helped me to definitely choose to use this genre of music for my media products. This way, I was able to
use stereotypical ways to promote the artist and link closely to the genre.
– I think that the feedback and answers from the survey I did were very effective and helped me with the
creation of my music video and ancillary texts.
