Global Economic Meltdown Of 2008
To establish effective policies in order to enhance ethics in corporate America and prevent
significant catastrophes such as the global economic meltdown of 2008 we need to propose new
ethical policies and standards in our corporate system. Ethical issues must be on the strategic
agenda! Integrity management should be a priority not only because it is legally required, but
because it is the right thing to do. This memorandum will analyze the proposed ethical policies such
as strengthening auditors' independence and strengthening audit committee to make reforms in
existing corporate sector.
Strengthening business ethics by improving audit quality
One of the most important factors that plays a huge role in the success of a company – is ethics,
which can have long–term impact on the company. It does not matter how high the company's
profitability level is, if there is unethical behavior or a lack of corporate social responsibility it will
eventually damage company's reputation and make it less appealing to stakeholders.
The last global economic crisis that cost the world trillions of dollars, a continued recession,
millions of lost jobs, a huge loss of confidence in financial markets and a reversal in our efforts to
cure global poverty was result of the combination of several leading factors; and the failure of
business ethics was one of these factors that strongly contributed to this global financial turmoil.
It is proven that during economic recession many companies

Essay On Invisible Man
When Colin Kaepernick knelt during the National Anthem to raise awareness of the hardships of
being black in 2016, his protests garnered instantaneous backlash. Dubbed spoiled, selfish, and anti–
American, Kaepernick felt the ramifications of his protest immediately: he was benched the
remainder of the season and has not returned to the field since the season of his protests. His
reputation tarnished and his career effectively over, Kaepernick's protest personifies a larger issue of
systemic backlash to independent thought from African Americans. Invisible Man, similarly,
explores the life of an unnamed narrator, representative of any black man, as he moves from his
home in the South to New York City and finds his suggestions ignored, ... Show more content on

Kaepernick's raising awareness of these issues by exercising his First Amendment right should be
considered neither controversial nor problematic. Yet, Kaepernick, whose career interception rate is
the second lowest in NFL history, is now unemployed, seemingly blacklisted from the NFL.
The backlash to Colin Kaepernick's NFL protests reveals a disturbing trend of suppression against
independent black thought. For example, a prominent Fox News contributor and ardent critic of
Kaepernick, Jeanine Pirro, in response to the protests, questions whether "we have the fortitude,
courage, and determination to stand up to those who threaten our values." This ominous statement
begs a few questions: What values, exactly, does Pirro see threatened by Kaepernick's protests? To
whom is she referring with the collective pronoun 'we'? The answer, sadly, has little to do with
Kaepernick or his protest. Pirro knowingly implies that black people are "threatening" white people.
At its crux, the protests are rooted in seemingly non–controversial ideas; however, the fact that they
are coming from black Americans rather than white ones provoke widespread backlash and
"threaten our values" – referring to the values of white Americans. The reactions to the protests
reveal a dark truth about America: white people still control most of the power and influence in this

The Gateway To Freedom Analysis
The Gateway to Freedom is an enticing novel that gives further knowledge of racial discrimination
and the social inequality of blacks at the time of slavery and how the Underground Railroad
combatted this through the different committees and activists of the time. This essay will focus on
how the Underground Railroad affected family, economy and religion– the social institutions, those
who operated the Underground Railroad were diverse and have different reason for following the
abolitionist movement, and not all the committees are made equally. According to Foner, the author
of The Gateway to Freedom, there was a direct correlation between free blacks and fugitive slaves
presence in the antislavery movement. Many people from many backgrounds helped fugitive slaves
and the abolitionist development. There are many different actions abolitionists took to further their
cause; some of the abolitionists were politicians, for example, William H. Seward and Thaddeus
Stevens (19). Those who facilitated the U.R. fought for the abolitionist movement, they helped using
many different means. Whether it dealt with the Underground Railroad directly or indirectly many
abolitionists took part in helping. Some devoted their livelihood and found a job within the
committees, for example being a lawyer or newspaper editor, some people elected their own time
while still holding a job outside of the movement. Referring to the Underground Railroad, David

Americans to "alter their beliefs about the "rugged individual" thus minimizing their objections to a

Should Medicine Be A Self Regulating Profession
Since the 19th century there have been ongoing debates about whether medicine should be a self
regulating profession whose members answer only to eachother, or whether members of the general
public should monitor the ethical conduct of doctors.
Throughout history professionals go through a series of changes that adapt to their changing social
and political environments. The responses to incremental change can be very successful, but often
lead to a patchwork approach when attempting to strengthen an overall system. The medical
profession is no exception. Over the years, the profession has attempted to self–regulate, but given
the social and political changes, public oversight has been critical to its evolution. Like most
professions, there may be guidelines, but also a culture of behavior. Many would ask if it is
inherently contradictory for a profession where there may be self–interest to regulate itself. History
dictates that it is important to integrate both professional standards from the inside and regulations
from the outside; this intersection has the greatest possibility of success. Along the way in this
incremental change, public perception can be incredibly powerful, and in many ways the precursor,
for meaningful changes leading to increased accountability and transparency.
The medical profession, both in practice and in research cannot itself be self–regulating. Sadly,
personal morality is simply insufficient for professional medical ethics. The evolution of the

Maximillien Robespierre Essay
Maximillien Robespierre
Maximillien Robespierre is commonly viewed as the symbol of the Reign of Terror, the short period
in which thousands of people were executed because they were thought to be traitors. However,
Maximillien was actually an idealistic reformer with an image of peace and equality driving him on,
who is unfairly credited with the Terror, and assumed to be a power–hungry tyrant.
Maximillien was able to attend a prominent educational institution. He became an intelligent person
and pursued a career in law. His practice exposed him to an interest in humanity and the abused
rights of many people (Hanson 32). Maximillien was opposed to violence. While a judge, he

Robespierre was honestly working for the good of the people. He once stopped 75 Girondins from
being tried for signing a secret protest against their leaders' arrests, knowing they would be executed
(Hampson 139). Much of the public understood and loved Robespierre. When he was finally
arrested, the prison guard refused to hold him (Gaxotte 223). Instead of fleeing, he returned to Paris
where a crowd of his followers congregated. He absolutely forbid them to fight for him, as they
were planning (Geib). His altruistic efforts suggest some outside force caused the change in his
allowing of the more brutal manner of reformation, later, when the many thousands of people were
executed. Jean–Jacques Rousseau may have influenced Robespierre with his strong nationalist
views, being an important, and influential role–model for Robespierre. It is said that Robespierre
slept with a copy of Rousseau's Social Contract next to him (Halsall). Rousseau thought that it was
the greatest of all sins to continue in life when one believes there is a better way (Searle).
Robespierre knew there was another way; a republic, free of the uncaring rule of powerful
monarchs. This idea may have encouraged Robespierre to press for reformation at all costs.
Robespierre was also influenced by the Committee of Public Safety, which he was a part of. The
other nationalists within the Committee may have pressured him

Violent Media and The Aggressive Generation It Has Established
The creation of visual and active forms of media has caused debate and discussion over the effects it
has on the brain. The effects of media on the brain are of concern regarding children specifically, as
their minds are still developing. Questions of the severity and impact have intrigued parents,
scientists, and lawmakers. The first committee on this issue, the Surgeon Generals Scientific
Advisory Committee on Television and Social Behavior, was created in 1969 to answer these
questions. Through the introduction of violent video games, and exposure to violent movies, today's
youth views violence as something not to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Deliverance of violent exposure especially through the medium of video–games, increases the
positivity in which youth views violence. The constant subjection of youth to video games by
advertisers and their peers, has caused a new generation to not condemn violence but to praise it, it
has led those who once aspired to be heroes to aspire to be the criminal. This may be the result of
instant gratification and reward when committing a violent act such as a murder in a video–game,
"Equally troubling, video games often present violence in a glamorized light. Typical games cast
players in the role of a shooter, with points scored for each "kill."", according to the Senate
Committee on the Judiciary. Children learn and imitate through observation, in addition, the media
plays a huge role in shaping public attitudes. ( Nakaya)( Wetzstein)The combination of premature
observation absorption and the output of permeable violent media is a toxic concoction. This
combination and "repeated exposure to violence in the media places children at risk for: increases in
aggression; desensitization to acts of violence." (Nakaya) The development of the child brain makes
it more susceptible to altering by violent media and therefore makes the child more likely to become
aggressive as an adult. (American Phycological Association) Some may argue that violent media
does not lead children to become more violent. This group argues that throughout history perceived

The Pros And Cons Of The Bolsheviks
The Bolsheviks were an organization of professional revolutionaries. They were governed by quasi–
military discipline and democratic centralism. The principle of democratic centralism became more
centralized and less democratic over time. The beliefs and practices of the Bolsheviks are called
Bolshevism. Vladimir Lenin was the founder of the Bolsheviks. The Bolsheviks were an important
factor in the Russian Revolution. ("New World Encyclopedia" 1) Between March and May, 1903,
Julius Martov and Vladimir Lenin had their first disagreement on who the party memberships
should be open to. Lenin thought the party membership should be limited to only a small core of
professional revolutionaries. Although Martov agreed that the membership should be open to
professional revolutionaries, he also thought it should be open to sympathizers, revolutionary
workers, and other travellers. This is where they disagreed. Their disagreement did not split the
party until August 1903 at the Second Congress of the RSDLP. Lenin and Martov's disagreement at
first seemed based at personal conflicts. One of them being Lenin insisting that less active editorial
board members should be dropped. Martov supported one of Lenin's oppositions the Organizing
Committee of the Congress. After the split, two new parties were ... Show more content on

Objectification By Fyodor Dostoevsky's Demons Summary
CORRELATION BETWEEN OBJECTIFICATION AND TERRORISM IN FYODOR
DOSTOEVSKY'S DEMONS Although there could have been many causes of terror during the
Russian revolutionary time period, objectification is a notable prerequisite for terror. Objectification
is important because it is a unifying predecessor before an act of terror that occurs in Fyodor
Dostoevsky's novel Demons. In this analysis I intend to understand what objectification is and how
it occurred in Demons by examining how the leader of the terrorist organization treated the members
of the organization. Objectification is also prevalent in modern acts of terror, such as Joseph Stalin's
genocide of nearly 10 million Ukrainian peasants. Stalin viewed the Ukrainian peasants as threats to

The writing describes the revolutionists' duties, relationships, and convictions. The "Catechism of
the Revolutionist" declares that the revolutionist is a "doomed man. He has no private interests, no
affairs, sentiments, ties, property nor even a name of his own. His entire being is devoured by one
purpose, one thought, one passion – the revolution" (Nechayev 71). The "Catechism of the
Revolutionist" also states that anything that stands in the way of the revolution is immoral and
criminal, that comrades should be viewed as "portions of a common fund of revolutionary capital"
(Nechayev 72), and that the revolutionaries should aim to destroy the social order. Although
revolutionaries are wholly devoted to the cause of the revolution, this can produce severe
consequences when taken too far. Nechayev set up his organization, the Russian Revolutionary
Committee, with a "Central Committee," which gave orders to the smaller groups of revolutionaries.
When interacting with his followers, Nechayev claimed that everything was straight from the
Central Committee, even though he was the sole member of the false central organ. Ivan Ivanovich

Symbolism In Mikhail Bulgakov's Heart Of A Dog
In the 1920's, the Soviet State was a terrible spectacle of intense political and economic
restructuring. However, specifically in Soviet society, even more restructuring took place.
Specifically, lower members of society, such as the proletariat, were forced to become a new, more
refined class of men. In the novel, Heart of a dog, Mikhail Bulgakov, satirically expresses this
restructuring of the Soviet Union under Josef Stalin with the character Polygraph Polygraphovich or
Sharikov. Throughout, Sharikov is used as an engine to describe the many downfalls of the Stalin
Revolution including food and housing shortages, and class merges. Further, a high level of
censorship was taking over Soviet society. Unsurprisingly, Bulgakov was reported by the secret
censorship police even though he attempted to express his own personal opinions without having his
work cut or censored, through the use of satire. Using real–life people disguised as characters,
Bulgakov transforms the character Sharikov into a dog after suggesting that the character
symbolizes the old style proletariat. During this time, the Second Russian Revolution, (also known
as the "Stalin Revolution") the Soviet State underwent the aforementioned changes during the
late1920's and early 1930's. It was during this time that Joseph Stalin imposed upon the country new
forms of social, economic, and even linguistic censorship. As a result of the October Revolution,
Lenin proposed that apartments be redistributed and divided so that each person could receive his or
her ten square meters. Those who had less were thrilled by this; however, this re–division of
apartments was more than an attempt to achieve equity. Many people considered that living together
would transform the human psyche. The idea of the commune came forward with the
communalizing of dining, which removed the daily experience from the individual family and
change it to a common space. This is reflected in Heart of a Dog, when Shvonder and the house
committee demand that the professor give up his dining room to the revolution. It is clear that
demand is not random. The professor's apartment is considered the last remnant of bourgeois dining
in Moscow. In the other apartments of

One of the artistic movements to address slain soldiers and the moral questions it posed was Dada.
Dada laughs at the scornful style in art, the senselessness to think clearly sensibly, and logically
thought and even the foundations of modern society. The mix emotion of Dada went further to
question the concept of art itself.
For its first annual " Forum" exhibition in 1917, Marcel Duchamp was the leading figure for
displaying art for the, "American Society of Independent Artists" committee. Most significant, he
anonymously submitted a work of art that would be so shocking and offensive

The Worst Death Trap, Killing Fourteen Italian Immigrants
On March 13, 1900, a tenement building in New York City caught fire, killing fourteen Italian
immigrants. The poorly constructed frame building housed three stories of tenement quarters, with
ten apartments per floor. The rooms were five by ten feet, separated only by flimsy half–inch thick
boards. With just one exit through the entrance of the building, and that only by way of a 42–inch
wide stairway, their only escape was destroyed, leaving eleven families of "caged victims beyond
help." People became so desperate that they jumped from upper balconies as the firemen on the
scene struggled to control the flames. The top floor proved to be the deadliest, with a victim in
nearly all ten rooms. After the arrest of a suspect and an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Connected to these changes were rapidly declining sanitary conditions in tenement housing and
rising prices. Immigrants came to America with visions of "streets paved in gold" and a chance to
rise through hard work. Americans who had lived longer in the country and who harbored rabid
anti–immigrant sentiments greeted them with derision and abuse. They saw immigrants as
competition in an already dwindling job market, and bearers of the dreaded Catholicism, socialism,
communism, and other "foreign evils." Social Darwinism, in vogue at the time, only compounded
the problems of the poor. Darwin's work in animal dominance was translated into social beliefs that
benefitted successful businessmen and capitalist bullies. Social Darwinism claimed that the wealthy
were dominant because they were superior, and the poor were so because they were inherently
flawed. The effect of this theory was that no help was offered to the poor because they deserved
none, and there was no call to level the playing field because the rich had triumphed through natural
selection. With more and more people pouring into the major industrialized cities, new arrivals were
forced (often tricked) into cheap and dirty tenement housing in the more dangerous areas of town, in
order to afford bare subsistence in a society already glutted with humanity and twisted notions about
nationality. Tenement fire stories permeated newspaper reports

Structuralism In Coach Carter
Structuralism is a philosophy that views society as composed of structures such as class and race
that shape our lives, making it challenging for all individuals to have access to equal opportunities.
Thus, it is focused on exposing these structures and investigating power, who has it, who doesn't and
what we can do to change this often by way of advocacy, actions, and campaigns, strive for social
change (J. Poole, personal communication, September 13, 2017).
Coach Carter is a sports drama based on a real life experience of a former Richmond High alumni
and basketball coach, Ken Carter, who became known in 1999 for benching his entire basketball
team, undefeated until that point for poor academic standing. It is though this film, but ... Show

Without picking sides as to whether power is used to the benefit or disadvantage of students, Coach
Carter can be using his legitimate or "socially prescribed" power over his students to force the
cancellation of practice and the forfeiting of games (group dynamics). Yet, while Carter has power
over his players in this way, power is completed. Thus, individuals such as the school's principle or
the schools committee board members then have legitimate power over him as demonstrated by
their power to end the lockout. Adding to complicated nature of power, illustrated nicely by the film,
power may be to benefit or disadvantage a community, and to further complicate the matter such is
often determined or influenced by the perception of the individual(s) holding power.
One of the ways in which "structuralists" look to repair and/or bring attention to the imbalance of
power in society is through campaigns, social justice, actions and social change. Similarly, I believe
it is through an approach of advocacy and social change that the Coach not only looks to instill a
sense of belief and "discipline" in his players, but most importantly looked to change the narrative
against the kids of Richmond High School. A narrative made clear through sediments such as that
made by Principle Garrison, who at the beginning of the lockout states, "...so you take away
basketball, the one area in their lives where

International Law For Sustainable Development
International Law for sustainable development
International law for Sustainable development can be defined as:
The International legal principles which is based upon the international environmental law,
international trade law and international human right law which focus on the development of society
in present without compromising it for future.
It was realised that the legal aspect cannot be isolated from the sustainable development. There were
various landmarks which lead to the impetus of the International law for sustainable development.
The evolution has been summarized below:
Evolution:
Stockholm commission (1972):
–Submit organised in Stockholm to address the environmental issue caused by the industrialisation.
– It gave international platform to the concept of sustainable development. Leading to the
foundation of sustainable development as International policy and legal concept.
–It emphasised on safeguarding the natural resources and protecting the environment for future.
–Lead to establishment of UNEP (United Nation Environment Plan) which checked the
environmental and sea hazards caused by industrialisation.
–The commission winded up with declaration containing 26 principles and 109 recommendations.
Primarily focussing on the development of human and the environment.
Brundtland commission Report (1987):
–Commission established by UN general assembly in 1983. It was to develop strategies to achieve
sustainable development in a long run.
–It coined a definition

Enron Scandal And The Corporate Financial Frauds
One of the biggest corporate financial frauds in history was Enron scandal, where the relationship
between the company governance and their auditors – Arthur Andersen was one of the factors that
helped the company hide its frauds, which eventually led Enron's bankruptcy. The accounting firm
was accused of not acting independently and misstating Enron 's accounts such as keeping huge
debts off balance sheets. Some believe that the auditors had gone along with Enron's questionable
accounting practices in order to maintain their work. As a result, the shareholders lost $74 billion
further (further depressing the stock market), thousands of employees and investors lost their
retirement accounts, and many employees lost their jobs. In addition, ... Show more content on

These statements can serve as an adequate early warning material for the protection of investors and
creditors. Therefore, improving auditors' independence will increase the reliability of corporations'
published financial statements and give assurance of that reliability to users of those financial
statements. Some of the ways to strengthen auditors independent is rotation of audit firms at regular
intervals.
Currently it is required that the rotation of the lead partner in an audit firm to be conducted every
five years. However, this current law of rotating audit firms doesn't address the real conflict in the
auditor/audited relationship. Recent academic studies in both the U.S. and other countries suggest
serious disadvantages to mandatory audit firm rotation. Key among them is the loss of the current
auditor 's cumulative knowledge of the company 's business, processes, systems, people, and risks
(Pwc.com). In the case of mandatory rotation of an audit firm rotation can be very expensive for
both the audit firm and their client. Indeed, the expenses of this change could outweigh its benefits.
So how can we further strengthen auditors' independence?
I would like to suggest a new policy that would prohibit companies from hiring managers and
internal auditors from their external audit firms. Currently, SEC requires a one–year cooling off
period before a company

Winnipeg General Strike
The Winnipeg General Strike happened from May 15–June 25, 1919. This strike is Canada's best
known strike in its history. Massive unemployment and inflation, the success of the Russian
Revolution in 1917, and rising Revolutionary Industrial Unionism, all were contributions to the
postwar labor unrest that put the strike in motion. In March 1919 western labour leaders met in
Calgary to discuss the creation of OBU (One Big Union). In Winnipeg on May 15, when
negotiations broke down between management and labour in the building and metal trades, the
Winnipeg Trades and Labor Council (WTLC) called a general strike. They were fighting for the
principles of collective bargaining, and better wages and working conditions. Shortly afterwards, ...

We remember the strike as interesting and important because in the labour movement our
understanding of the strike is shaped by organizations who remembered it for us. The strike lives on
today mostly because every working–class person in Winnipeg claimed the strike as its own. People
believe that the strike led to the CCF (Co–operative Commonwealth Federation) and NDP (New
Democratic Party). And, although it died out in the decades after the strike, the OBU has a strong
claim for a connection being that it was a product of 1919. The effect in Winnipeg, after the general
strike was large, diverse, and fascinating; they drew many different conclusions about the strike. The
socialist leadership of the strike ended up in the OBU and in the ILP (Independent Labour Party). It
was the latter that made important electoral breakthrough as several of them were elected, from jail,
to the Manitoba Legislature. The fact that the ILP was an electoral party and that it eventually joined
the CCF when it emerged in the 1930s, does not mean that they should simply be dismissed as
social democrats. They still talked about revolutionary change. They ran in elections, but, for a time
in the 1930s, disconnected from the CCF because of what they considered its non–working–class
composition. The OBU played an important role politically and culturally. A Women's Labour

The Importance Of Responsibility
How my campaign plans to establish credibility is by bring in guest speakers who have the
knowledge and experience in environmental issues. These speakers will discuss their projects,
current events that our government is implementing to help combat climate change, and give
informative speech's about the problems in our environment. By bringing in guest speakers this will
be able to establish the credibility of our committee. Next, by being confident that we can make a

Lastly, I would argue joining the committee is a great network option. You are able to interact with
students who share the same values that you do and care for the environment while saving your
planet and creating a green campus.
2. Appeals
I would attempt to convince students to go green by appealing to different forms of rhetoric. First, I
would appeal to pathos in our mission statement that saving the planet you can change the lives of
all living things on our planet earth including your children, family, friends, and generations to
come. Also, I would describe the ecosystems that are being harmed from climate change. Next,
ethos is established by having various speakers come to meetings to educate students. I will appeal
to students through logos by having a variety of statistic on quarterly flyers that inform the students
about the issue. For example, 26% of paper is composed of our landfills. I think other ways we can
appeal to students is through networking by email, the committee website, and having students share
links across social media. This is an effective way to inform students as technology is the most
popular form of communication and what most students use to keep updated with news of what is
happening on campus and the world around them.

My Vision Of My Utopia
If you could have the power to create your own utopia, what do you envision? There are a vast
amount of utopias that one could build, but since imagination is the only source as of now, what
characteristics would I consider for my own? There are many questions that might run through one's
head, like for example: What will the utopia look like? What is the social mechanism within this
society? Finally, how will everyone eat since no one starves in a utopia? While there are tons of
other questions to be asked and answered, I believe these are the best for someone to be able to
grasp onto my concept of my own utopia. But since this is only a product of thought, how do I
picture my utopia? Everyone's creativity varies from one to another. ... Show more content on

These are some distinct features of what my utopia looks like, but for the utopia to function, there
has to a social mechanism set in place. Furthermore, there is a social mechanism within this utopia.
Since I am creating my own utopia, I decided to also create my social mechanism. With creating my
own social mechanism, I thought it would be ideal to go away from a materialistic object, but
towards an ideology. I chose spirituality for my people to follow, more specifically, a forest deity.
Like most religions, people believe without seeing, so they would be following a non–materialistic
object. The people of the utopia believe that there is a deity living within the forest. The social
mechanism disguises itself as a spiritual figure that enforces the people to embrace harmony and
unity in exchange for protection and shelter. This social mechanism keeps the people of this utopia
in line by making them dependent on one another. If no one is willing to get along and work
together then survival is limited. The social mechanism is set in place is more like a set of guidelines
for the society to follow. So unlike some utopias and dystopias, this mechanism is not set to do good
for some, but good for all. With this ideology prominent within this society, it helps follow how
everyone eats by farming and distribution. In addition to the social mechanism, it explains how
everyone has enough food for survival. All living beings need to consume foods with

the roles of Black and Brown men in today's society. The event was filled with various speakers,
performances, and workshops ranging from "Leaders versus Managers–Which one are you" to
"Breaking the Cycle of Poverty." Each and every workshop discussed a different topic, but all had
one thing in common: they related to how you can be a leader in society and effectively make a
difference in someone's life. Before now, I never really thought about being a leader. I always
believed a leader was someone at the top, making decisions like a general in the army. The summit
gave me a lot different perspectives on what a leader actually is. One thing that was said that really
stuck with me was, "your college degree isn't just for you. It is also for all those who come after
you." It was then that I really understood what a leader is. A leader is one who works their hardest to
become the best person they can be, so they can set an example for others and help those who come

The Presidential National Committee Server Breach Essay
This year's Democratic National Committee server breach attempts to compromise Hillary Clinton's
chance of becoming the first women to receive the United States presidency. The focus here will be
on the motives behind the D.N.C. breach, whose systems are at risk, long and short term
consequences of this breach, and how this breach could have been avoided. There are two theories
on the motives behind the network breach. After the breach, there is an extreme likelihood that any
system within the 2016 presidency campaign is or will be violated. Short–term consequences
includes Hillary Clinton losing the race for the U.S. presidency. Long–term consequences in the
United States include a continuing pattern of distrust between the citizens and federal government.
Creating and implementing procedures that avoid phishing e–mails, social engineering tactics, and
spoofed web logins could have saved the DNC from the public's outrage over the D.N.C.'s leaked e–
mails.
There are two theories behind the motives of the D.N.C. network breach. Mainstream media, and the
left, announce that Russian hackers committed the server breach in order to influence American
polls in Donald Trump's favor. Their reasoning is: 1) both Russian President Putin and Donald
Trump have a lot to gain from creating distrust between Hillary Clinton and Democratic voters
before November 8th, 2) President Putin and Donald Trump are visibly friends (Hamburger,
Helderman, Birnbaum 2016). The Republican candidate has

of literature, sometimes great works of literature disengages these characteristics. Norwegian Wood

Ferrante's ability to tackle a social justice that females around the world could relate to, but sadly
she did not execute the novel in such a way that I feel an adequate amount of attention was paid to
this issue. Ultimately, I feel as if this novel lacks universality and reasonable character development

Early sport–specialization may impede or impair the quality of life of children. Starting as early as 3

Supported by parental/adult figures, a person in early to middle childhood ( 1 to approximately 10

Comparison Of Robespierre And The French Revolution
In a time when France was fighting for natural rights and a separation from totalitarian rulers,
Maximilien Robespierre and the Committee for Public Safety believed the best way to advance their
goal was to temporarily enact the exact opposite of everything they were trying to achieve to allow
the country to recover from inner conflict. During a point when France was in a crisis transitioning
from monarchy, the Committee for Public Safety, led by Robespierre, took control of the executive
government. The period of Robespierre's rule has been given the nickname the "Reign of Terror"
from rampant oppression, tyranny, and death in France throughout the period. The actions of the
government during the Terror opposed almost everything that the ... Show more content on

One of the most prominent details of the Terror is the fact that thousands of people were sent to the
guillotine during this time period. Many of these unfortunate souls had done nothing wrong outside
of voicing their opinions. However, if Robespierre and the French government got word of this
person's actions and deemed their thoughts even just a little too radical or counter–revolutionary,
they were executed. One of the most critical tenets of the Enlightenment and the French Revolution
was the freedom to voice one's opinion and not be punished or silenced by authority. This idea is
echoed in the tenth and eleventh articles of the Declaration of the Rights of Man, which state that
freedom of speech, the press, religion, etc. and the freedom to express one's opinions openly are
among the most important natural rights of men, and that those using this right should not be
silenced so long as their views aren't disrupting the order of society. However, while Robespierre
doesn't address these actions directly in his Report on the Principles of Political Morality, he
portrays the government's harsh actions on anyone who would hinder or abandon the revolutionary
cause as justice. While Robespierre may have been looking at his actions through rose–tinted
glasses, the massacre of thousands of people for simply sharing their beliefs clearly went against key
principles of the Declaration of the Rights of Man, the Enlightenment, and the French Revolution.
The arrest of suspected individuals and execution of those voicing their opinions are clear violations
of man's natural rights, but even the nature of Robespierre's rule alone could be seen as a breach of
the National Assembly's view on man and society just years

A Taste Of Power By Elaine Brown
A Taste of Power was written by Elaine Brown who grew up in a poor neighborhood in Philadelphia
and sensed what it meant to be black people, female, and poor American. Elaine Brown described
her experiences as a woman in the inner circle of the Central Committee. In contrast to the black
men 's narratives of their experiences, Elaine Brown points up defects of the revolutionary vanguard.
The Black Panther Party 's buildings of a revolution were actually self–righteous; a revolution
without the liberation of Black women from patriarchy would never lead to equality for all. Brown
acknowledged, like many other women in the Black Panther Party that systems of racial and classist
oppression were indeed intertwined with sexism. Though this lens ... Show more content on

Newton envisioned the Black Panther Party leading would never be realized. An important theme in
Elaine Brown's book is the pervasive gender inequality within the party. Many panther women
would agree with Brown on gender inequality, as it was pervasive in many if not all panther
chapters. In addition, she highlights what she thought were causes of the fall of the party, and the
changing platform, which she takes much credit for. Other panther members have addressed these
issues as well. There seems to be some disagreement on what ultimately caused the demise of such
an iconic force, and Brown attempts to piece together the many reasons. Brown had the large task of
combating sexism as well as handling Central Committee conflicts that caused division in the party.
She describes the way state–sanctioned violence killed many beloved Panther members, the inter–
Panther conflict that caused international tensions to rise and because of her intimate love
connection to Huey Newton also provides a candid view into his mindset. Brown dealt with these
conflicts, which at times seemed unresolvable and eventually left the Black Panther Party after
many years of faithful service. Prior to Brown 's assignment as chairman, one could look at the

Global Economic Meltdown Of 2008

  • 1. Global Economic Meltdown Of 2008 To establish effective policies in order to enhance ethics in corporate America and prevent significant catastrophes such as the global economic meltdown of 2008 we need to propose new ethical policies and standards in our corporate system. Ethical issues must be on the strategic agenda! Integrity management should be a priority not only because it is legally required, but because it is the right thing to do. This memorandum will analyze the proposed ethical policies such as strengthening auditors' independence and strengthening audit committee to make reforms in existing corporate sector. Strengthening business ethics by improving audit quality One of the most important factors that plays a huge role in the success of a company – is ethics, which can have long–term impact on the company. It does not matter how high the company's profitability level is, if there is unethical behavior or a lack of corporate social responsibility it will eventually damage company's reputation and make it less appealing to stakeholders. The last global economic crisis that cost the world trillions of dollars, a continued recession, millions of lost jobs, a huge loss of confidence in financial markets and a reversal in our efforts to cure global poverty was result of the combination of several leading factors; and the failure of business ethics was one of these factors that strongly contributed to this global financial turmoil. It is proven that during economic recession many companies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Essay On Invisible Man When Colin Kaepernick knelt during the National Anthem to raise awareness of the hardships of being black in 2016, his protests garnered instantaneous backlash. Dubbed spoiled, selfish, and anti– American, Kaepernick felt the ramifications of his protest immediately: he was benched the remainder of the season and has not returned to the field since the season of his protests. His reputation tarnished and his career effectively over, Kaepernick's protest personifies a larger issue of systemic backlash to independent thought from African Americans. Invisible Man, similarly, explores the life of an unnamed narrator, representative of any black man, as he moves from his home in the South to New York City and finds his suggestions ignored, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Kaepernick's raising awareness of these issues by exercising his First Amendment right should be considered neither controversial nor problematic. Yet, Kaepernick, whose career interception rate is the second lowest in NFL history, is now unemployed, seemingly blacklisted from the NFL. The backlash to Colin Kaepernick's NFL protests reveals a disturbing trend of suppression against independent black thought. For example, a prominent Fox News contributor and ardent critic of Kaepernick, Jeanine Pirro, in response to the protests, questions whether "we have the fortitude, courage, and determination to stand up to those who threaten our values." This ominous statement begs a few questions: What values, exactly, does Pirro see threatened by Kaepernick's protests? To whom is she referring with the collective pronoun 'we'? The answer, sadly, has little to do with Kaepernick or his protest. Pirro knowingly implies that black people are "threatening" white people. At its crux, the protests are rooted in seemingly non–controversial ideas; however, the fact that they are coming from black Americans rather than white ones provoke widespread backlash and "threaten our values" – referring to the values of white Americans. The reactions to the protests reveal a dark truth about America: white people still control most of the power and influence in this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Gateway To Freedom Analysis The Gateway to Freedom is an enticing novel that gives further knowledge of racial discrimination and the social inequality of blacks at the time of slavery and how the Underground Railroad combatted this through the different committees and activists of the time. This essay will focus on how the Underground Railroad affected family, economy and religion– the social institutions, those who operated the Underground Railroad were diverse and have different reason for following the abolitionist movement, and not all the committees are made equally. According to Foner, the author of The Gateway to Freedom, there was a direct correlation between free blacks and fugitive slaves presence in the antislavery movement. Many people from many backgrounds helped fugitive slaves and the abolitionist development. There are many different actions abolitionists took to further their cause; some of the abolitionists were politicians, for example, William H. Seward and Thaddeus Stevens (19). Those who facilitated the U.R. fought for the abolitionist movement, they helped using many different means. Whether it dealt with the Underground Railroad directly or indirectly many abolitionists took part in helping. Some devoted their livelihood and found a job within the committees, for example being a lawyer or newspaper editor, some people elected their own time while still holding a job outside of the movement. Referring to the Underground Railroad, David Ruggles, a fugitive and abolitionist, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. 2003 Dbq Essay (4) Fourth, the widespread failures of state, municipal and charity programs demonstrated that a permanent, national, and comprehensive plan was called for (Hansan, XXXX). Success, he reasoned, was for many reasons, only possible at the national level. (5) Fifth, In FDR's view, the failure of the economic system came about partly because the ideal of rugged individualism was used as a cover to prevent needed government action. His believed the Depression had persuaded Americans to "alter their beliefs about the "rugged individual" thus minimizing their objections to a national program (Atkinson, 2006). (6) Sixth, FDR himself was constrained by the belief that the "dole," as unemployment insurance was called in Great Britain, would destroy the American spirit (Hansan, XXXX). "He believed that people wanted to work for remuneration, little though the paycheck might be, and believed that the "dole" would rob people in financial need of their dignity" (Atkinson, 2006). He felt that Americans supported his viewpoint and ultimately uniquely American take on unemployment. He saw the crash as irrefutable proof that many individuals would not save systematically unless they were forced to, and that no matter how much they saved, a person ... The Committee advised against the amendment because it threatened the very elements required for Social Security to work including portability, fraud–proofing, lack of universality, and narrowing of the fund pool (Hansan, XXXX) The issue was resolved after a month of gridlock when all parties agreed to move forward without the Clark Amendment on the condition that a new committee would create an amendment for the next session. Should Medicine Be A Self Regulating Profession Since the 19th century there have been ongoing debates about whether medicine should be a self regulating profession whose members answer only to eachother, or whether members of the general public should monitor the ethical conduct of doctors. Throughout history professionals go through a series of changes that adapt to their changing social and political environments. The responses to incremental change can be very successful, but often lead to a patchwork approach when attempting to strengthen an overall system. The medical profession is no exception. Over the years, the profession has attempted to self–regulate, but given the social and political changes, public oversight has been critical to its evolution. Like most professions, there may be guidelines, but also a culture of behavior. Many would ask if it is inherently contradictory for a profession where there may be self–interest to regulate itself. History dictates that it is important to integrate both professional standards from the inside and regulations from the outside; this intersection has the greatest possibility of success. Along the way in this incremental change, public perception can be incredibly powerful, and in many ways the precursor, for meaningful changes leading to increased accountability and transparency. The medical profession, both in practice and in research cannot itself be self–regulating. Sadly, personal morality is simply insufficient for professional medical ethics. The evolution of the ... Maximillien Robespierre Essay Maximillien Robespierre Maximillien Robespierre is commonly viewed as the symbol of the Reign of Terror, the short period in which thousands of people were executed because they were thought to be traitors. However, Maximillien was actually an idealistic reformer with an image of peace and equality driving him on, who is unfairly credited with the Terror, and assumed to be a power–hungry tyrant. Maximillien was able to attend a prominent educational institution. He became an intelligent person and pursued a career in law. He once stopped 75 Girondins from being tried for signing a secret protest against their leaders' arrests, knowing they would be executed (Hampson 139). Instead of fleeing, he returned to Paris where a crowd of his followers congregated. He absolutely forbid them to fight for him, as they were planning (Geib). His altruistic efforts suggest some outside force caused the change in his allowing of the more brutal manner of reformation, later, when the many thousands of people were executed. Rousseau thought that it was the greatest of all sins to continue in life when one believes there is a better way (Searle). Robespierre knew there was another way; a republic, free of the uncaring rule of powerful monarchs. This idea may have encouraged Robespierre to press for reformation at all costs. Violent Media And The Aggressive Generation Matthew Taylor Ms. Cowburn AP Language 12 June 2017 Violent Media and The Aggressive Generation It Has Established The creation of visual and active forms of media has caused debate and discussion over the effects it has on the brain. The effects of media on the brain are of concern regarding children specifically, as their minds are still developing. Questions of the severity and impact have intrigued parents, scientists, and lawmakers. Deliverance of violent exposure especially through the medium of video–games, increases the positivity in which youth views violence. The constant subjection of youth to video games by advertisers and their peers, has caused a new generation to not condemn violence but to praise it, it has led those who once aspired to be heroes to aspire to be the criminal. This may be the result of instant gratification and reward when committing a violent act such as a murder in a video–game, "Equally troubling, video games often present violence in a glamorized light. Typical games cast players in the role of a shooter, with points scored for each "kill."", according to the Senate Committee on the Judiciary. This combination and "repeated exposure to violence in the media places children at risk for: increases in aggression; desensitization to acts of violence." (Nakaya) The development of the child brain makes it more susceptible to altering by violent media and therefore makes the child more likely to become aggressive as an adult. Vladimir Lenin was the founder of the Bolsheviks. The Bolsheviks were an important factor in the Russian Revolution. This is where they disagreed. Their disagreement did not split the party until August 1903 at the Second Congress of the RSDLP. Objectification By Fyodor Dostoevsky's Demons Summary CORRELATION BETWEEN OBJECTIFICATION AND TERRORISM IN FYODOR DOSTOEVSKY'S DEMONS Although there could have been many causes of terror during the Russian revolutionary time period, objectification is a notable prerequisite for terror. Objectification is important because it is a unifying predecessor before an act of terror that occurs in Fyodor Dostoevsky's novel Demons. In this analysis I intend to understand what objectification is and how it occurred in Demons by examining how the leader of the terrorist organization treated the members of the organization. • 13. Symbolism In Mikhail Bulgakov's Heart Of A Dog In the 1920's, the Soviet State was a terrible spectacle of intense political and economic restructuring. However, specifically in Soviet society, even more restructuring took place. Specifically, lower members of society, such as the proletariat, were forced to become a new, more refined class of men. In the novel, Heart of a dog, Mikhail Bulgakov, satirically expresses this restructuring of the Soviet Union under Josef Stalin with the character Polygraph Polygraphovich or Sharikov. Throughout, Sharikov is used as an engine to describe the many downfalls of the Stalin Revolution including food and housing shortages, and class merges. Further, a high level of censorship was taking over Soviet society. Unsurprisingly, Bulgakov was reported by the secret censorship police even though he attempted to express his own personal opinions without having his work cut or censored, through the use of satire. Using real–life people disguised as characters, Bulgakov transforms the character Sharikov into a dog after suggesting that the character symbolizes the old style proletariat. During this time, the Second Russian Revolution, (also known as the "Stalin Revolution") the Soviet State underwent the aforementioned changes during the late1920's and early 1930's. It was during this time that Joseph Stalin imposed upon the country new forms of social, economic, and even linguistic censorship. As a result of the October Revolution, Lenin proposed that apartments be redistributed and divided so that each person could receive his or her ten square meters. Those who had less were thrilled by this; however, this re–division of apartments was more than an attempt to achieve equity. Many people considered that living together would transform the human psyche. The idea of the commune came forward with the communalizing of dining, which removed the daily experience from the individual family and change it to a common space. This is reflected in Heart of a Dog, when Shvonder and the house committee demand that the professor give up his dining room to the revolution. It is clear that demand is not random. They saw immigrants as competition in an already dwindling job market, and bearers of the dreaded Catholicism, socialism, communism, and other "foreign evils." Social Darwinism, in vogue at the time, only compounded the problems of the poor. Darwin's work in animal dominance was translated into social beliefs that benefitted successful businessmen and capitalist bullies. Yet, while Carter has power over his players in this way, power is completed. Thus, individuals such as the school's principle or the schools committee board members then have legitimate power over him as demonstrated by their power to end the lockout. Adding to complicated nature of power, illustrated nicely by the film, power may be to benefit or disadvantage a community, and to further complicate the matter such is often determined or influenced by the perception of the individual(s) holding power. One of the ways in which "structuralists" look to repair and/or bring attention to the imbalance of power in society is through campaigns, social justice, actions and social change. Similarly, I believe it is through an approach of advocacy and social change that the Coach not only looks to instill a sense of belief and "discipline" in his players, but most importantly looked to change the narrative against the kids of Richmond High School. Massive unemployment and inflation, the success of the Russian Revolution in 1917, and rising Revolutionary Industrial Unionism, all were contributions to the postwar labor unrest that put the strike in motion. In March 1919 western labour leaders met in Calgary to discuss the creation of OBU (One Big Union). And, although it died out in the decades after the strike, the OBU has a strong claim for a connection being that it was a product of 1919. The effect in Winnipeg, after the general strike was large, diverse, and fascinating; they drew many different conclusions about the strike. The socialist leadership of the strike ended up in the OBU and in the ILP (Independent Labour Party). It was the latter that made important electoral breakthrough as several of them were elected, from jail, to the Manitoba Legislature. The fact that the ILP was an electoral party and that it eventually joined the CCF when it emerged in the 1930s, does not mean that they should simply be dismissed as social democrats. They still talked about revolutionary change. They ran in elections, but, for a time in the 1930s, disconnected from the CCF because of what they considered its non–working–class composition. These speakers will discuss their projects, current events that our government is implementing to help combat climate change, and give informative speech's about the problems in our environment. By bringing in guest speakers this will be able to establish the credibility of our committee. Next, by being confident that we can make a change will allow more people to support our campaign. If through our promotional strategy we can show that we are confident that what we are doing is beneficial, and eventually report how are efforts have helped the environment we can establish a trust with current and ... You are able to interact with students who share the same values that you do and care for the environment while saving your planet and creating a green campus. 2. Appeals I would attempt to convince students to go green by appealing to different forms of rhetoric. First, I would appeal to pathos in our mission statement that saving the planet you can change the lives of all living things on our planet earth including your children, family, friends, and generations to come. Also, I would describe the ecosystems that are being harmed from climate change. Next, ethos is established by having various speakers come to meetings to educate students. I will appeal to students through logos by having a variety of statistic on quarterly flyers that inform the students about the issue. For example, 26% of paper is composed of our landfills. I think other ways we can appeal to students is through networking by email, the committee website, and having students share links across social media. This is an effective way to inform students as technology is the most popular form of communication and what most students use to keep updated with news of what is happening on campus and the world around them. There are a vast amount of utopias that one could build, but since imagination is the only source as of now, what characteristics would I consider for my own? There are many questions that might run through one's head, like for example: What will the utopia look like? What is the social mechanism within this society? Finally, how will everyone eat since no one starves in a utopia? While there are tons of other questions to be asked and answered, I believe these are the best for someone to be able to grasp onto my concept of my own utopia. But since this is only a product of thought, how do I picture my utopia? Everyone's creativity varies from one to another. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These are some distinct features of what my utopia looks like, but for the utopia to function, there has to a social mechanism set in place. Furthermore, there is a social mechanism within this utopia. Since I am creating my own utopia, I decided to also create my social mechanism. With creating my own social mechanism, I thought it would be ideal to go away from a materialistic object, but towards an ideology. I chose spirituality for my people to follow, more specifically, a forest deity. Like most religions, people believe without seeing, so they would be following a non–materialistic object. The people of the utopia believe that there is a deity living within the forest. The social mechanism disguises itself as a spiritual figure that enforces the people to embrace harmony and unity in exchange for protection and shelter. This social mechanism keeps the people of this utopia in line by making them dependent on one another. If no one is willing to get along and work together then survival is limited. The social mechanism is set in place is more like a set of guidelines for the society to follow. So unlike some utopias and dystopias, this mechanism is not set to do good for some, but good for all. With this ideology prominent within this society, it helps follow how everyone eats by farming and distribution. In addition to the social mechanism, it explains how everyone has enough food for survival. All living beings need to consume foods with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Black And Latino Male Summit Reflection This past weekend I visited the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign to attend the annual Black and Latino Male Summit. This summit was for minority students to discuss and learn about the roles of Black and Brown men in today's society. The event was filled with various speakers, performances, and workshops ranging from "Leaders versus Managers–Which one are you" to "Breaking the Cycle of Poverty." Each and every workshop discussed a different topic, but all had one thing in common: they related to how you can be a leader in society and effectively make a difference in someone's life. Before now, I never really thought about being a leader. I always believed a leader was someone at the top, making decisions like a general in the army. The summit gave me a lot different perspectives on what a leader actually is. One thing that was said that really stuck with me was, "your college degree isn't just for you. It is also for all those who come after you." It was then that I really understood what a leader is. A leader is one who works their hardest to become the best person they can be, so they can set an example for others and help those who come after them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Presidential National Committee Server Breach Essay This year's Democratic National Committee server breach attempts to compromise Hillary Clinton's chance of becoming the first women to receive the United States presidency. The focus here will be on the motives behind the D.N.C. breach, whose systems are at risk, long and short term consequences of this breach, and how this breach could have been avoided. There are two theories on the motives behind the network breach. After the breach, there is an extreme likelihood that any system within the 2016 presidency campaign is or will be violated. Short–term consequences includes Hillary Clinton losing the race for the U.S. presidency. Long–term consequences in the United States include a continuing pattern of distrust between the citizens and federal government. Creating and implementing procedures that avoid phishing e–mails, social engineering tactics, and spoofed web logins could have saved the DNC from the public's outrage over the D.N.C.'s leaked e– mails. There are two theories behind the motives of the D.N.C. network breach. Mainstream media, and the left, announce that Russian hackers committed the server breach in order to influence American polls in Donald Trump's favor. Their reasoning is: 1) both Russian President Putin and Donald Trump have a lot to gain from creating distrust between Hillary Clinton and Democratic voters before November 8th, 2) President Putin and Donald Trump are visibly friends (Hamburger, Helderman, Birnbaum 2016). During a point when France was in a crisis transitioning from monarchy, the Committee for Public Safety, led by Robespierre, took control of the executive government. One of the most prominent details of the Terror is the fact that thousands of people were sent to the guillotine during this time period. Many of these unfortunate souls had done nothing wrong outside of voicing their opinions. However, if Robespierre and the French government got word of this person's actions and deemed their thoughts even just a little too radical or counter–revolutionary, they were executed. One of the most critical tenets of the Enlightenment and the French Revolution was the freedom to voice one's opinion and not be punished or silenced by authority. This idea is echoed in the tenth and eleventh articles of the Declaration of the Rights of Man, which state that freedom of speech, the press, religion, etc. and the freedom to express one's opinions openly are among the most important natural rights of men, and that those using this right should not be silenced so long as their views aren't disrupting the order of society. However, while Robespierre doesn't address these actions directly in his Report on the Principles of Political Morality, he portrays the government's harsh actions on anyone who would hinder or abandon the revolutionary cause as justice. While Robespierre may have been looking at his actions through rose–tinted glasses, the massacre of thousands of people for simply sharing their beliefs clearly went against key principles of the Declaration of the Rights of Man, the Enlightenment, and the French Revolution. The arrest of suspected individuals and execution of those voicing their opinions are clear violations of man's natural rights, but even the nature of Robespierre's rule alone could be seen as a breach of the National Assembly's view on man and society just years ... A Taste Of Power By Elaine Brown A Taste of Power was written by Elaine Brown who grew up in a poor neighborhood in Philadelphia and sensed what it meant to be black people, female, and poor American. Elaine Brown described her experiences as a woman in the inner circle of the Central Committee. In contrast to the black men 's narratives of their experiences, Elaine Brown points up defects of the revolutionary vanguard. The Black Panther Party 's buildings of a revolution were actually self–righteous; a revolution without the liberation of Black women from patriarchy would never lead to equality for all. In addition, she highlights what she thought were causes of the fall of the party, and the changing platform, which she takes much credit for. Other panther members have addressed these issues as well. There seems to be some disagreement on what ultimately caused the demise of such an iconic force, and Brown attempts to piece together the many reasons. Brown had the large task of combating sexism as well as handling Central Committee conflicts that caused division in the party. She describes the way state–sanctioned violence killed many beloved Panther members, the inter– Panther conflict that caused international tensions to rise and because of her intimate love connection to Huey Newton also provides a candid view into his mindset. Brown dealt with these conflicts, which at times seemed unresolvable and eventually left the Black Panther Party after many years of faithful service.
