MISSION SUNDAY MISSIONARIES
Belize
Our Belize Mission work of 54 years
started in 1969 when one person was baptized.
This work (Belize City) went from this one
person to having Churches of Christ throughout
the country of Belize. Many of the ministers in
these Churches came out of the Belize City
Church.
We are currently working with the
Belize City Church of Christ, Corozal Church
of Christ, Libertad Church of Christ, and
Ladyville Church of Christ. The ministers for
these churches all work secular jobs through the week.
David Smith is the minister at the Belize City Church of Christ. They have a
day care at the Church which gives them a great outreach to the community. They
have a VBS each year and conduct many Bible studies using the ‘God Speaks Today’
book. They run a van for each service to bring some of the members to worship and
Bible study.
David Diego is the minister at the Corozal Church of Christ. There is a
Corozal Church of Christ primary school. Bro. David is the principal. Most of the
teachers are member of the Corozal Church of Christ. The curriculum is set by the
school and there are Bible classes for each grade. This school is a public school and a
great outreach to the community. They also run a van to pick up members and bring
them to the services.
Richard Diego is the minister of The Libertad Church of Christ which is an
outreach of and supported by the Corozal Church of Christ. The Corozal van picks up
the members for the Church services and delivers them back home.
Albert Longsworth is the minister of the Ladyville Church of Christ. They
meet at the community center. Albert has been preaching there since 2001. They run
a van from Crooked Tree village to Ladyville (about 20 miles away) each service to
bring members to worship. Albert is very close with all the members there and does
studies to reach out to the community.
In October 2022, we held a Church Leadership Seminar at the Belize City
Church of Christ. Ministers from all over the country of Belize were invited. Bro.
Jeffrey taught the classes in the morning and evening Monday thru Thursday. Bro.
Kenneth Bennett taught classes on how to study the God Speaks Today book and
Bro. Canto taught the ‘Now That I Am A Christian’ book for new Christians. The
attendance was 15 to 20 for each class.
This year we will be working with the Ladyville Church of Christ conducting
a campaign. Each year we take approx. 200 Bibles and 150 study books to be used
there. We will be conducting the campaign May 5th through 16th. This will be our 1st
campaign since Covid. We have 14 going this year.
