The Whole Armor of God
We are experiencing a battle all around
It’s a spiritual enemy that lurks round each turn.
Yet God has given us the high ground
It is here… that we stand firm.
We have the Belt of Truth firmly fastened
This band keeps scripture near us always.
For it holds the sheath of our greatest weapon
To keep us triumphant in the Spiritual fray.
The Breastplate of Righteousness?
It is the closest armor to our heart.
Doing right in all circumstances?
Protects our inner child. It finishes our start.
The Shoes of Preparation help us stand the most
Ready to speak our orders from our King of Kings
Allowing peace to prevail over the darkest host
Because He died, but from the grave was given wings
He fought the hardest battle before one of our orders was given.
That’s why the Shield of Faith is firm when facing Satan’s darts.
Christ has made us able to stand secure as His forgiven
So, let’s link ourselves arm in arm and each do our own parts
This takes one united mind
protected by thoughts of redemption.
In the world this we will never find
Only through the Helmet of Salvation.
The final piece? Again, that’s attached to our belt of truth.
Yes, the Bible is a scabbard that holds our greatest weapon
The Sword of the Spirit we wield for proof
As we are marching forward to Heaven.

and family at the death of his brother
Charles Shepherd. There was a memorial
service and singing on Saturday at Decatur
Highway Church of Christ in Gardendale.
