Gender Roles In Super Hero Films
We all have seen the cultural phenomenon of the super hero film genre. The super hero is normally
portrayed as a masculine male figure dominate figure. The women around the hero are normally,
needing to saved, weak female, or feeble minded female that cannot take care of herself. Examples
of these scenarios can be seen throughout many different super hero movies. For example
Spiderman has to save Mary Jane, or Gwen Stacy, because they are always getting in trouble and
cannot save themselves. Other examples can be seen in the Superman movies. Superman always has
to save Lois Lane because she always gets herself into trouble for being nosy. When a female does
make her way into the superhero movie spotlight they wear sexualized costumes showing of their
assets, just think of Scarlett Johansson character Black Widow, or if you saw the latest Avengers age
of Ultron Scarlett Witch. Their costumes are low cut skin tight and sow their breasts. When men are

Witt, Ph.D she argues that gender roles are actually learned at an early age. She argues that children
learn these roles very early in their development. They are able to distinguish what it means to be a
male or what it means to be a female. Gender roles are learned through an array of activities such as
learning from their parents or guardians' ways, or other children (Witt, 1997). Gender roles can also
be learned though different media outlets such as advertisements, television, and of course movies.
It is next to impossible for children to grow to adulthood without ever experiencing some form of
gender bias or stereotyping, this could be thinking that boys or superior to girls, or that it is a
woman's job to take care of the children. Learning these gender roles throttles societies ability to
change and realize that men and woman are equal with equal

Did you know that Stan Lee created a percentage amount of Marvel characters before he created
Spider–Man? When he formed Spider–Man many people think and question why Stan Lee chose
that kind of power for that one superhero? Did he ever think that maybe more people would hate it
because it doesn't have the same ability as the other characters have in common? For example, being
capable to fly, having laser beams, strong ability, and etc. Stanley Martin Lieber (Stan Lee) is a
comic book author, a creator, a performer, a television multitude and a former owner of Marvel.

a lot of fans think that Tobey Maguire is the best actor to play as Spider Man but some say Andrew
Garfield is the better one because he makes the movie more exciting and funny. But the true fact
about it is, it doesn't really matter who is the better one because both movie turn out to be one of the
best Marvel movie. Speaking of Marvel movie the new Avengers movie is coming out and the
director is thinking to add another Marvel superhero to fight the villains. And they are planning to
add Spider Man to the picture. But a lot decision making to do because of the actuality that they are
having a hard time to pick who will play as Spider Man because Tobey Maguire say that he want to
take the role but Andrew Garfield said the same thing. So for that hard making decision they still
don't know if they would put Spider Man or not. But either way Avengers will be a really good
movie. An additional thing that fans would want to know is how Stan Lee did did all the villains and
how did he give them so much power that will make them really strong. The villains that the
directors use in the movie are common villains for example, Green Goblin, Lizard, Rhino,
Hobgoblin, Electro, Sand Man, Venom and Dr. Octopus. The directors make all the villains look
exactly the same as the one in the comic books and the fact that a lot of kids love the villains
because they think that villains are more powerful that

`` Daredevil : Born Again By Frank Miller And The Amazing...
"And the story ends with none of this having been changed," Anthony M. states in his article Retro
Review: "Daredevil: Born Again" published back in March 2016. Many comic readers can reflect
with this statement due to the simple fact that many comic books never change its concept. Comic
books usually stay consistent now–a–days. Their is a superhero, a super–villain, something in
distress, and a semi–violet story line. With time, things evolve and change to adapt to new cultures,
ideas, and eras. Although, this consistency had to start somewhere. Comic book fans can argue that
many different comics are a huge influence on todays comics. There are two comics in particular
that really play to this equation. The issues presented in Daredevil: ... Show more content on

Long story short, Karen sells the true identity of Daredevil to the Kingpin, which results in the
Kingpin wanting to eradicating anything revolving around the life of Matt Murdock for turning him
in multiple times to authorities. Some of the themes a reader can find in this collection are religion,
alienation, love, discovery, and of course betrayal. What really got attention for this comic was the
theme of religion. In the comic there is an entire section where Matt is rescued by catholic nuns and
taken care of. Sister Maggie is preying to God hoping that Matt will be safe and okay in the
end(Daredevil: Born Again page 97). This theme is really important to the entire story as it builds
the discovery of Matt and his character throughout the series. Ironic that Daredevil takes on the
name with a demonic tone yet follows the light of God. The Amazing Spider–Man: Death of Stacys
is a series that was a game changer for any comic book series after this one. Stan Lee and his
partners really pushed the bar when it comes to this series. Keep in mind, the story line is a basic
hero fighting villain story, with a love interest, and motives for the hero to grow. Then what is it that
really pushes the story in The Amazing Spider–Man: Death of Stacys? Peter Parker is an average kid
who happens to have the luck and be Spider–Man, he has crazy spider–like powers, great

Holy Sexism In Wonder Women's Comics
Holy Sexism Batman! Caped crusaders and masked vigilantes rule the comic scene. What sets
superheroes apart from the rest of their worlds are their costumes. Costumes define the superhero,
disguising and distinguishing them from the crowd. Superhero attire has been a staple for characters
ever since the beginning of superhero comics. The purpose of comics has changed over time mostly
to reflect what is going on outside of the books politically, socially and artistically. Just as times
have changed, costumes have changed too and not always for the better. In comics, there is a trend
of female characters changing drastically and often shortening while their male counterparts only
get a new paint job, these trends are painfully obvious when comparing Wonder Woman's costumes
and Captain America's. Sexism in comics is nothing new and costumes could be at the center of it.
Before delving into the actual comics it's important to know the about the phases of comics. Over
the year's comics have gone through phases often referred to as the Golden, Silver, Bronze and
Modern ages. The Golden Age lasted from 1938–1950, this was the beginning of ... Show more

The medium focused on the male readers so much that they forgot what that could do to the female
readers. Female readership has been on the rise lately specifically since 2012 ("Demographics of

originally anyone and everyone could pick up a comic. Comics were a staple in wartime America,
radio was the main source of entertainment then, which gave comics a large market. However as
previously mentioned the focus on men and young adults lead to impractical and exclusive
costuming. The male characters began as regular guys who, as the years went on, gained muscle
mass. The females gained busts and lost

No one on this planet would ever suspect that I am related to that one "Puerto Rican" boy, Josh
Gray. Even after I insist they still have doubts. Sometimes when we are out in public together, like at
Walmart or something, I get a tad bit paranoid that people think we are dating. So I be sure to call
him "Bro" extra loud when someone walks down the aisle. A lot of people wonder why I always talk

was a day that I remember like no other. It wasn't hard to forget. So for Christmas my little brother
John got a Spiderman hoodie that zipped up all the way and made like a mask–like thing.
(Remember this, it is important). I was sitting on my bed, listening to 105.9 KLAZ, taping random
things onto my wall to make a collage of well, random things, when my little brother comes in and

Okay, it went down like this. All I hear is this high pitched, "Hey i'm Spideyman and I'm here to

Women's Music Essay
For nearly thirty years, popular culture has been an ever transforming mosaic of human flesh, or
more specifically female flesh. While it has been known for decades that "sex sells", this statement
has taken on bizarre, and at times offensive aspects. It seems that the more modern we become, the
more sexually explicit and objectifying media content becomes. This fact remains true across
multitudes of media formats; today everything from vacuum cleaners to toothpaste is madly exciting
by sex appeal. Ask any senior citizen about the content of television in past generations and you will
likely hear them describe modern programs as inappropriate, even vulgar. Perhaps the perversion of
sexuality and the objectification of women in the media ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first Mariah Carey Video I chose was You'll Always be My Baby. I chose this video for two
reasons. First and foremost, it was one of Ms. Carey's first hit singles and second, it deals (as do
most pop songs) with love. I thought that by choosing a song about love I might get to see some of
the more explicit video segments that the early 1990's had to offer. My hypothesis was far from
supported as this video showed relatively few stereotypes, and the sexual objectification of the
female main character (Mariah herself) was non existent. The video details a childhood romance that
faded, but the fact that first loves always hold a special place in one's heart. While both Mariah and
the adolescent girl she is played by are dressed relatively conservatively and are, for the most part,
not sexually objectified, certain stereotypes persist. For one the video only shows Mariah in settings
of leisure activities, she is rocking back and forth on a tire swing or is shown reminiscing about her
lover to her diary over candle light. Even the young Mariah is shown in this way, doodling in a
notebook as her adolescent boyfriend serenades her from outside the window. The boy on the other
hand is shown briefly playing sports and then studying (before sneaking out his window to serenade
Mariah).

The Ideal Of Heroism
The ideal of heroism in comics is displayed as that of "normal" citizens taking action against the
tides of evil in the world. The fantastical element of super strength, uncanny agility, and web–
slinging exploits are paled in comparison to what lives in the heart of a hero according to comics.
Superheroes, or supervillains, are not gods who come down from heaven to save or destroy us,
though there are exceptions, but are instead the human spirit uplifted to a point of power. In comics,
a hero is someone who does the "right" thing even if it is difficult, because they are, or should, be
the best of us. In Spider–Man, heroism is the responsibility to make the world a better place that
motivated by the death of his uncle. Peter Parker wishes to bring less heartache to the world; he
wishes to prevent what happened to him from happening to others. Peter Parker sacrifices nearly
everything in his life in the pursuit of protecting the city but that is not how it began. In the
beginning of his career being Spider–Man was a means to an end to gain respect and pay the bills.
For Luke Cage a hero is his new identity built from the ashes of his former life. Heroism is an
occupation for Luke Cage to regain what was taken from him. But does this monetary influence
somehow dampen the heroics of Spider–Man and Luke Cage? And if they both are using their
powers to make a better world it begs the question; what does it mean to make the world a better
place? What actions are allowed

Essay on Women in Music Entertainment
Women in Music Entertainment
There are so many talented female artists in music today that it's hard not to think of some right off
the top of my head. Not only do they have great voices, but they're successful and confident, not to
mention pretty darn rich! Some of these artists knew that they were going to become a star while
they were still in diapers. The two females that I will be highlighting are two of the younger musical
talents that are out in the industry at this time. They both worked hard to get to where they are today
by starting off with many of the same dreams and aspirations many of us women share. These
women have contributed so much at such a young age that it's almost hard to believe. Music is such

the renowned Clive Davis to his new company J Records, where she continued to show signs of

label). She has also won the 2001 Best New Artist MTV video music award. Her music is
incredible, with well–written and very wise lyrics. Her sound is very unique and different from
many of the artists out there right now.
Her new single out at this moment is called "A Woman's Worth," and ladies, I recommend you listen

put her first, she will, and she can find a man who knows her worth." One listen to this album and
you'll be very pleased with the quality and soulful sound of her beautiful voice!

Choosing a specific location for both where the film should be shot and where the action happens, is
never coincidental. As a proof for that assumption stands in two films; neo–Noir film Chinatown
(1974) directed by Roman Polanski and documentary Dogtown and Z–Boys (2001) directed by
Stacy Peralta. Both movies relate to various aspects and issues of urban studies and demonstrate
various approaches towards the city, urban environment, and population. In Chinatown, for

outcome of urbanization – re–appropriation of the urban space for the use of a group of locals. In the

#1 The Infinity Stones
Now, the Infinity Stones are a subject of interest in all the Marvel movies. There is a tidbit here and
there that rounds up all of the Marvel characters together.
But many do not understand that the Infinity Stones is not about power. It is a courtship between
Thanos and Death. Thanos yearns for Death's affection and the only way he can do that is to collect
the stones and form the gauntlet.
The Infinity Gauntlet will enable Thanos to kill billions and even trillions of lives, all of which will
be given as gifts to Death. This is considerably one of the most insane courtship rituals in the
Marvel Comics and one that stands out most of the Avenger films.

Examples Of Tension In Spider Man
Term 1 drama There are many examples of relationship tension in the film spider man. I am going to
state some of these starting with the first example which is in the first couple of scenes when Peter
Parker is chasing the bus and everyone inside of it is laughing at him including the bus driver. This
scene shows task tension because it shows that peter is trying to catch the bus and if he doesn't make
it, the outcome will be that he will miss the excursion, this is relationship tension because Peter has
something to do, an amount of time to do it and if he doesn't complete the task there will be
consequences. This scene also shows relationship tension because everyone in the bus is laughing at

One of the first is when Peter is unknown of a spider coming down above him and he is enjoying his
time with Mary Jane. The spider comes down and peter still does not know this. This is mystery
tension and this changes into surprise tension because the spider snaps at Peter which was
unexpected to the viewers. It starts with mystery tension because threatening things are happening to
peter and he does not know and it is surprize tension because we did not expect the spider to lash out
at peter. In this scene the mystery and surprise is also emphasised through the music used. Another
example Of tension of mystery is when They are on the excursion looking at the spider, Mary Jane
says there is only fourteen spiders when the woman said that there should be fifteen. This is tension
of mystery because people are left wondering where this spider is, that it could be anywhere.
Another example of tension of mystery and surprise is when Dr Osborne is testing the formula and
nobody knows what the outcome is going to be and that is why it is tension of mystery. This
converts to tension of surprize because dr Osborne unexpectedly grabs Norman, throwing him and
killing him and this is tension of surprize because we didn't expect it to

the history of the part of the city considered to be Dogtown, Venice. It provides history about how
Dogtown used to flourish financially and then how it became to be the low income, drug–ridden
neighborhood that the Zephyr team came from. The next section provides the audience with history
about the Zephyr surf shop and the shop's team. Many of the team riders were latchkey kids and

Women 's Roles And Gender Stereotypes Essay
Women's Roles
The Simpsons is a TV show that airs on the Fox network. During the fifth season, in an episode
called Lisa vs. Malibu Stacy, Lisa challenges the makers of the Malibu Stacy doll to create a less
sexist doll. The original creator of Malibu Stacy teams up with Lisa to create Lisa Lionheart to
create a positive influence for young girls. This episode raised a lot of questions regarding gender
roles and stereotypes. Gender stereotypes are prominent in today's life style. Per gender stereotypes,
girls like princesses and boys like cars. These gender roles, however, do not just apply to children.
These roles are still very prominent in "grown up" society. The pay gap between men and women
Gender roles are a big part of humankind society.
There is insurmountable evidence that points to the idea that gender stereotypes is largely
accomplished through social factors. Scholars in both sociological and psychological fields believe
that gender is constructed through the modeling of appropriate behaviors and the use of systematic
rewards and punishments. Evidence also shows that many aspects of gender are not innate, as
evidenced by children who do not exhibit a gender specific preference in friends, clothing or toys
when placed in gender neutral settings. Only after negative reactions from parents, teachers, or
friends do many children begin to take on the gender roles society comes to see as appropriate for
them.

Male Gaze In The Gaze
The gaze is an important part of any literary work in that it defines the viewpoint from which the
reader sees the rest of the story. The gaze, however, is also much more than a particular point of
view. It is a conveyance of power, and a way in which a narrator is able to completely shape the way
readers understand other characters in the story, imparting their own standards and beliefs onto an
often unrealizing audience. The gaze has a very clear relation to power in the sense that it is what
shapes how an audience sees certain things. An example of this is through the institution of white
supremacy in media via the gaze of the mass media in the mid–20th century. As Bell Hooks
explains, "when black people in the United States first had the ... Show more content on

Whether it be the console game or the video, the gaze conveys the same image: the woman is an
object, there for the male to act upon, but without any input onto her surroundings of her own.
Let us take, for example, the role of Mary Jane in the Spiderman franchise. This is especially
important because Spiderman is primarily marketed towards a younger audience, thus imparting the
male gaze upon young people who may never realize that they are being influenced. Mary Jane is
the object of affection of not only Spiderman, but also of Harry Osborn, who becomes the villain
Green Goblin.
Here, we see Mary Jane as the object of desire for both hero and villain, and is subsequently
captured and used to lure the hero into battle, where Spiderman must come to her rescue and save
the day. And then, once rescued, of course, Mary Jane falls for her heroic savior, despite the obvious
danger that his existence has placed her in throughout the course of the tale. But think, for a minute,
what things would be like if they were portrayed from the female gaze, by way of Mary Jane. The
story would be entirely different, with the men involved all becoming villains in their own

What Is The Theme Of The Green Goblin
In 2002, Sam Raimi directed the first Spider–Man movie of the three–part series. In this movie, the
famous Marvel comic book character, Peter Parker, adapts to his newfound super powers after being
bitten by a genetically–enhanced spider on a high school field trip to OSCORP. Throughout this
movie, he battles the infamous villain the Green Goblin, otherwise known as Norman Osborn, in
New York City. Peter Parker is an outsider at his high school and has a crush on the beautiful and
popular Mary Jane Watson, who is also Peter's next–door neighbor, and she dates the typical high
school jock. Peter's only true friend is Harry Osborn, the son of Norman Osborn. Peter was raised by

The color green has been associated with monsters such as Shrek, Frankenstein, The Wicked Witch
of the West, the Hulk, and the Green Goblin. Although this color is associated with life, renewal,
and nature, it has a double entendre and can be associated with greed, jealousy, and envy. For
example, the common phrase that corresponds to jealousy is the "green–eyed monster", which is the
term personified. These traits are exposed in Norman Osborn through his counterpart, the Green
Goblin. Before the chaos, Norman Osborn was just the average successful white businessman.
However, through the injection of the enhancing green serum, the immoral parts of himself emerged
and turned him into this villain. The storyline of Osborn was used to show the unethical side of
corporate businesses. He was used to show that everyone, including the upper–class society, has
underlying evil in them. The color of the Goblin's costume and serum were green to manifest his
jealousy and greed. Through Norman Osborn, the directors shed light on the issues of corporate

Asian-American Superhero Analysis
Essays, Not Rants! 244: An Asian–American Superhero
I wasn't sure how I felt about Silk when she first showed up in the Spider–Man comics, but it was
when she got her own series – and a narrative no longer intrinsically tied to Peter Parker – that she
really came into her own.
But on the on the one hand, yeah, another webslinging spider–themed hero? We've already got a lot
with Peter Parker, Miles Morales, Gwen Stacy, and Miguel O'Hara in books of their own; do we
need one more? The thing is, Silk brings with it – like each of the other spider books – a unique
story and character.
Obviously, there's Silk/Cindy Moon herself. One of the things that hooked me into the book is
something somewhat shallow but terribly important: Cindy is Korean–American. Yes, I know, I'm
ranting about diversity again. But listen. There are precious few Asian superheroes, even less so
with their own books. There will always be a thrill in getting to see someone who looks like you
represented.
But Cindy's Asian–ness isn't just a lip service done through line art and surname, the story in Silk
features distinctly Asian elements.
So quick recap, Cindy got bitten by the same spider that gave Peter Parker his powers, but due to
some bad news involving spider–killing vampiric Inheritors (it makes sense in context), Cindy ...

The Characteristics Of Being Narcissistic
In recent years, the prevalence of having a main character in television shows be narcissistic yet
likeable has grown. Today it seems that every popular show has one; Tyrion Lannister from "Game
of Thrones" and Dexter Morgan from "Dexter", both show defining characteristics of being
narcissistic in nature, yet their characters are received extremely well by audiences. The question
that arises from this is why do we find insubordination and a lack of regard for rules and the
opinions of others so intriguing? We know their actions are wrong in regard to how we conduct
ourselves in society, but we still are fond of characters who don't care about social norms or their
behavior. A prime example of a character in a popular television series who ... Show more content

This characteristic of his personality is one that is alarming but one of the main aspects of his

intrigued by things they don't understand. Doctor House falls into a specific category of people that
are not the norm, therefor making his disposition and erratic behavior that much more attractive. We
like things we don't quite understand, or at least most of us do. There's a certain mystery to it, and
with how bold he is it's understandable that at one point or another people may wish they could get
away with a persona like his. Another crucial aspect to his character is his observant nature. House
looks at three main aspects of people; personality, appearance and behavior. He then makes an effort
to pick people apart and mock them for personal enjoyment, and partially in some cases to aid in
diagnosis. His methods are unorthodox, but audiences enjoy his observant nature. According to the
creator of the show David Shore, House was created to be like Sherlock Holmes. From his drug
dependency and home address to how he analyzes a room in one fell swoop their personalities are
incredibly similar. People envy Sherlock for his uncanny perception and ability to solve a mystery as
though the plot were written on a notecard in front of him. There are occasions in which he's wrong,

Spider–Man and Spider–Woman
In comic books, certain archetypes exist; the strong–man, the detective, the magician, the hero, the
anti–hero, and the villain just to name a few. Each major comic book company has their own
specific twists on them. Marvel Comics, in relation to its multiverse, has a specific archetype of a
spider totem. An individual imbued with the proportionate powers of a spider. Spiders within two
universes have become quite popular in the history of Marvel Comics, those being the Spider–Man
of Earth–616 and Spider–Woman of Earth–65. Their characters each have the same principles and
beliefs, but each stemming from different experiences. Peter Parker of Earth–616 was an above
average student at Midtown High in Queens. On an average day, Peter Parker would be picked on

Peter Parker's mentor is his Uncle Ben. Peter is always remembering little things that his uncle has

The difference in the two characters' mentors is that Odysseus has an actual mentor that he can see
and listen to in person and Peter's mentor is someone that he can only faintly remember and recall
the things he said in the past. Along with Odysseus's and Spiderman's mentors, they also have allies.
Odysseus's allies are the Phaecians. After Odysseus's ship is destroyed, he swims to the island
Scheria, home of the Phaecians, and is warmly welcomed, fed, given gifts, and set off in a great ship
to his home, Ithaca. Spiderman's allies are the citizens of Queens, New York who believe in him as

one person in particular but a group of people. By the end of the heroes' journey, Odysseus and Peter

Comparison And Cons Of Science Fiction

Superhero Archetype Research Paper
Many people see superheroes as figures of power, truth, justice, and protectors of the common good.
It is not uncommon for people in real life to give someone the title of superhero when that person
does a heartless or brave deed. This leads many people to wonder where exactly these attributes of a
superhero originated. The basic superhero characteristics of the archetype is a modern creation, first
being seen at the beginning of the twentieth century. In modern popular fiction, a superhero is a
costumed heroic character who uses superhuman or supernatural powers or goes through intense
training to become a living weapon. Superheroes are dedicated to fighting crime, protecting the
populace, and often battling supervillains and other evildoers. Some superheroes use their powers
and abilities to combat crime while also countering threats against humanity from supervillains, who
are their criminal counterparts. Most superheroes have at least one supervillain, known as an
archenemy or archnemesis, that will devote all of their energy to vanquishing a superhero (Smith
508). The superhero archetype has a common origin with the play The Scarlet Pimpernel which
started the trend of a masked vigilante who leads a double life and is a crusader for justice. ... Show

Before they become significant box–office phenomena and debut for TV serious, superheroes were

range of year's controversy, they all agreed that, during this period the popularity of comic books
reached its peak, both in terms of commercial success and cultural significance. The starting point
for this period is usually associated with the coming of man in a red and blue costume, lifting a car

Character Analysis Of 'Avengers Age Of Ultron'
Although not comic accurate, his arrogance and imperiousness compels him to build the artificial
intelligence 'Ultron' in an attempt to "create a suit of armour around the world". Of course, Stark's
self–righteous plan fails and his creation becomes the new super villain of the film Avengers: Age of
Ultron (2015). In spite of this, his character remains appealing because, "in the netherworld of our
unconscious is our constant propensity to return to a state of primary narcissism" (Peaslee

Spider Man Vs Spider Man
Few comic book characters have developed and maintained such a cultural relevance as the
character of Spider–Man. The web slinger made his debut all the way back in Amazing Fantasy # 15
in August of 1962. Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, the co–creators of the character, wanted to create a
superhero to which the audience could easily relate and identify with. Their publisher, however, felt
that the character would be hated by the audience because of the general public's dislike of spiders
and for the superhero being a teenager. Lee, having nothing to lose, put his Spider–Man story as the
last story in the final issue of the series titled Amazing Fantasy. In this essay, I will show how the
character of Spider–Man is still culturally relevant through examining how he has evolved and
changed over time, how his stories have examined topical issues such as drug abuse and corruption,
and how Spider–Man has continued to be a character with which his fans can identify. To
understand Spider–Man and his changes over the years, one must first understand the interrelated
nature of Peter Parker and Spider–Man. No other superhero has had their identities be blurred and
interrelated as much as Spider–Man. For the purpose of comparison, Superman and his alter ego of
Clark Kent are two completely separate identities; in essence, one can exist without the other. This is
not the case for Spider–Man and Peter Parker, and this fact is proven in the character's debut issue.

the U.N, but Lisa is disappointed when she realizes that the new and improved doll says sexist
remarks such as "don't ask me, I'm just a girl" and "let's buy make up so that boys will like us!". Lisa
goes on a rant about how "millions of girls will grow up thinking that this is the right way to act!
That they cannot be anything more than vacuous ninnies...!"and gets really mad when Bart does not
understand why she is so upset. The difference in communication styles is shown here as Lisa is
more adept with words than Bart is as Bart can only give Lisa a stupid reply like "that's what I was
going to say." This illustrates the stereotype that girls are more expressive and sensitive than boys
are. On the other hand, Marge plays the more traditional housewife as her mind never delves into
issues that are not relevant to the domestic center; she is not privy to relevant discussions on social
issues like Lisa and cannot understand why Lisa is so upset. She said that Lisa had been speaking up
"an awful lot lately." This suggests that typical lady–like behavior does not include speaking out and
that the mother should enforce positive female behavior. Additionally, in

Spider Man Vs Sequels
Sequels vs. Originals: "Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider–Man"
Some movies are too good to stop at one measly movie. Sequels have been around for decades and
will not stop anytime soon. Many movies are so profitable and successful, it makes sense to provide
a sequel to the fan base. Sequels usually come after movies that are raved by many. Sequels are
usually better than the original film as demonstrated by Sam Raimi's Spider–man trilogy.
A sequel normally follows a film that has already been successful. Sequels normally improve upon
originals but do not always pan out as well. One advantage of sequels is the fan base is already
acquired; this allows the producers to make a film that pleases the fans because they already know
who they are. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rob Leane, a movie critic, states, "Spider–Man 2 has heart" (Leane). The first movie does have the
heartfelt moment of uncle Ben being killed. Peter needed revenge so he accidentally killed uncle
Ben's killer. The following movie has the heartfelt moment of aunt May's inspirational speech after
Peter gave up the superhero gig; it gave him hope again. Rob states, "Aunt May who puts Peter back
on track, with her 'I think there's a hero in all of us' speech" (Leane). The final movie is one of the
more touching films. Peter finally finds the true killer of uncle Ben. He is set on vengeance for most
of the movie; that is not something your "friendly neighborhood Spider–man" would do. It is not
until the end of the film that the major heartfelt moments take place. The middle of the movie is
sprinkled with the heartbreaking love story of Peter and Mary Jane. Peter's best friend is killed in a
tragic battle, and Peter confronts his uncle's killer and hears his side of the story. Peter is heavy
laden with all of these problems at once. In a change of events, Peter forgives this murder because
after all, he is human and makes mistakes. This weight lifted off of his shoulders creates a strong
ending to the trilogy.
New characters is an advantage of sequels. The third movie in the Spider–man trilogy is unlike the
others in the way it introduces three villains of Spider–man (Venom, Sandman,

Overview of Dr. House
In the show House MD., Dr. House's bizarre personality brings on a rather unique style of managing
and supervising. Most of the time, the results of his techniques are effective, but it seems like he is
questioned if his method is full proof. The episode I watched in this series is "Three Stories", and
the plot is Dr. House is teaching interns about three different hospital room situations. The
supervisory skills and techniques I will explain about Dr. House is transparency, delegation,
listening, and availability.
Ortiz (2011) states, "Not every decision needs a full, 360 degree explanation, but lots of secrecy is
frustrating and ultimately dis–empowering to those you supervise." In this episode, Dr. House walks
the students through each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe Dr. House expresses the skill of delegation the best out of a skills, but he needs to be
always available to his subordinates in case of issues.
Availability as a supervisor helps boost morality, production, and understanding throughout the
work area. Most employees would choose to work for a supervisor or manager that is moving
around and checking up on their employees, rather than a person hiding behind a desk the whole day
delegating work through a phone, calling employees to the office for instruction, or intercom. In the
show, Dr. House is rarely sitting in his office during the day. He is in and out of hospital rooms
checking up on doctors, nurses, and patients. As I explained before, he has some bizarre and
questionable techniques, but he has a better understanding of the situation in each room to make
these decisions. A manager sitting in an office and not leaving cannot and should not make these
decisions because they do not know the situation. Having that experienced individual around also
helps boost the employee's confidence because if there is a mess up, Dr. House will be watching
over to ensure the procedures are correct. Last, he understands each situation, and if a problem
arises suddenly, he does not need a long brief of what is going on. He can get right to work with the
solution. An example from the episode I watched is when he asked what time the class session is
until it is over, and one of his doctors told him it was over a

Gender Roles In Super Hero Films

  • 1. Gender Roles In Super Hero Films We all have seen the cultural phenomenon of the super hero film genre. The super hero is normally portrayed as a masculine male figure dominate figure. The women around the hero are normally, needing to saved, weak female, or feeble minded female that cannot take care of herself. Examples of these scenarios can be seen throughout many different super hero movies. For example Spiderman has to save Mary Jane, or Gwen Stacy, because they are always getting in trouble and cannot save themselves. Other examples can be seen in the Superman movies. Superman always has to save Lois Lane because she always gets herself into trouble for being nosy. When a female does make her way into the superhero movie spotlight they wear sexualized costumes showing of their assets, just think of Scarlett Johansson character Black Widow, or if you saw the latest Avengers age of Ultron Scarlett Witch. Their costumes are low cut skin tight and sow their breasts. When men are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Witt, Ph.D she argues that gender roles are actually learned at an early age. She argues that children learn these roles very early in their development. They are able to distinguish what it means to be a male or what it means to be a female. Gender roles are learned through an array of activities such as learning from their parents or guardians' ways, or other children (Witt, 1997). Gender roles can also be learned though different media outlets such as advertisements, television, and of course movies. It is next to impossible for children to grow to adulthood without ever experiencing some form of gender bias or stereotyping, this could be thinking that boys or superior to girls, or that it is a woman's job to take care of the children. Learning these gender roles throttles societies ability to change and realize that men and woman are equal with equal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When he formed Spider–Man many people think and question why Stan Lee chose that kind of power for that one superhero? Did he ever think that maybe more people would hate it because it doesn't have the same ability as the other characters have in common? For example, being capable to fly, having laser beams, strong ability, and etc. Stanley Martin Lieber (Stan Lee) is a comic book author, a creator, a performer, a television multitude and a former owner of Marvel. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... a lot of fans think that Tobey Maguire is the best actor to play as Spider Man but some say Andrew Garfield is the better one because he makes the movie more exciting and funny. But the true fact about it is, it doesn't really matter who is the better one because both movie turn out to be one of the best Marvel movie. Speaking of Marvel movie the new Avengers movie is coming out and the director is thinking to add another Marvel superhero to fight the villains. And they are planning to add Spider Man to the picture. But a lot decision making to do because of the actuality that they are having a hard time to pick who will play as Spider Man because Tobey Maguire say that he want to take the role but Andrew Garfield said the same thing. So for that hard making decision they still don't know if they would put Spider Man or not. But either way Avengers will be a really good movie. An additional thing that fans would want to know is how Stan Lee did did all the villains and how did he give them so much power that will make them really strong. The villains that the directors use in the movie are common villains for example, Green Goblin, Lizard, Rhino, Hobgoblin, Electro, Sand Man, Venom and Dr. Octopus. The directors make all the villains look exactly the same as the one in the comic books and the fact that a lot of kids love the villains because they think that villains are more powerful that ... • 5. `` Daredevil : Born Again By Frank Miller And The Amazing... "And the story ends with none of this having been changed," Anthony M. states in his article Retro Review: "Daredevil: Born Again" published back in March 2016. Many comic readers can reflect with this statement due to the simple fact that many comic books never change its concept. Comic books usually stay consistent now–a–days. Their is a superhero, a super–villain, something in distress, and a semi–violet story line. With time, things evolve and change to adapt to new cultures, ideas, and eras. Although, this consistency had to start somewhere. Comic book fans can argue that many different comics are a huge influence on todays comics. There are two comics in particular that really play to this equation. The issues presented in Daredevil: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Long story short, Karen sells the true identity of Daredevil to the Kingpin, which results in the Kingpin wanting to eradicating anything revolving around the life of Matt Murdock for turning him in multiple times to authorities. Some of the themes a reader can find in this collection are religion, alienation, love, discovery, and of course betrayal. What really got attention for this comic was the theme of religion. In the comic there is an entire section where Matt is rescued by catholic nuns and taken care of. Sister Maggie is preying to God hoping that Matt will be safe and okay in the end(Daredevil: Born Again page 97). This theme is really important to the entire story as it builds the discovery of Matt and his character throughout the series. Ironic that Daredevil takes on the name with a demonic tone yet follows the light of God. The Amazing Spider–Man: Death of Stacys is a series that was a game changer for any comic book series after this one. Stan Lee and his partners really pushed the bar when it comes to this series. Keep in mind, the story line is a basic hero fighting villain story, with a love interest, and motives for the hero to grow. Then what is it that really pushes the story in The Amazing Spider–Man: Death of Stacys? • 7. Holy Sexism In Wonder Women's Comics Holy Sexism Batman! Caped crusaders and masked vigilantes rule the comic scene. What sets superheroes apart from the rest of their worlds are their costumes. Costumes define the superhero, disguising and distinguishing them from the crowd. Superhero attire has been a staple for characters ever since the beginning of superhero comics. The purpose of comics has changed over time mostly to reflect what is going on outside of the books politically, socially and artistically. Just as times have changed, costumes have changed too and not always for the better. In comics, there is a trend of female characters changing drastically and often shortening while their male counterparts only get a new paint job, these trends are painfully obvious when comparing Wonder Woman's costumes and Captain America's. Sexism in comics is nothing new and costumes could be at the center of it. Before delving into the actual comics it's important to know the about the phases of comics. Over the year's comics have gone through phases often referred to as the Golden, Silver, Bronze and Modern ages. The Golden Age lasted from 1938–1950, this was the beginning of ... Those statistics are now though originally anyone and everyone could pick up a comic. Comics were a staple in wartime America, radio was the main source of entertainment then, which gave comics a large market. Sometimes when we are out in public together, like at Walmart or something, I get a tad bit paranoid that people think we are dating. So I be sure to call him "Bro" extra loud when someone walks down the aisle. A lot of people wonder why I always talk about him or bring him up. They don't understand why he means so much to me or why we are so close. So buckle up your seat belts and grab a cup 'o tea because i'm about to get all deep and personal and nostalgic in this essay. At school he is all blase blase, walking around with his shoulders squared and his face devoted of emotion but at home he throws that mask away and becomes who he truly is. A hyper actin', monkey lookin', loud talkin', bad jokin', not exactly, but close to it, mexican. (Just to clarify, Josh is NOT a mexican or a Puerto Rican, it's just a joke.) But one time, New Year's Eve before 2016 to be exact, was a day that I remember like no other. It wasn't hard to forget. So for Christmas my little brother John got a Spiderman hoodie that zipped up all the way and made like a mask–like thing. (Remember this, it is important). I was sitting on my bed, listening to 105.9 KLAZ, taping random things onto my wall to make a collage of well, random things, when my little brother comes in and says to me, "Abra, can I sit down with you?" That should've been my first hint that something was up, John never asks to sit down with me, but it was like 11:49 at night so I just brushed it off and grunted, "Yeah, whatever." • 11. Women's Music Essay For nearly thirty years, popular culture has been an ever transforming mosaic of human flesh, or more specifically female flesh. While it has been known for decades that "sex sells", this statement has taken on bizarre, and at times offensive aspects. It seems that the more modern we become, the more sexually explicit and objectifying media content becomes. This fact remains true across multitudes of media formats; today everything from vacuum cleaners to toothpaste is madly exciting by sex appeal. Ask any senior citizen about the content of television in past generations and you will likely hear them describe modern programs as inappropriate, even vulgar. Perhaps the perversion of sexuality and the objectification of women in the media ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first Mariah Carey Video I chose was You'll Always be My Baby. I chose this video for two reasons. First and foremost, it was one of Ms. Carey's first hit singles and second, it deals (as do most pop songs) with love. I thought that by choosing a song about love I might get to see some of the more explicit video segments that the early 1990's had to offer. My hypothesis was far from supported as this video showed relatively few stereotypes, and the sexual objectification of the female main character (Mariah herself) was non existent. The video details a childhood romance that faded, but the fact that first loves always hold a special place in one's heart. While both Mariah and the adolescent girl she is played by are dressed relatively conservatively and are, for the most part, not sexually objectified, certain stereotypes persist. For one the video only shows Mariah in settings of leisure activities, she is rocking back and forth on a tire swing or is shown reminiscing about her lover to her diary over candle light. Even the young Mariah is shown in this way, doodling in a notebook as her adolescent boyfriend serenades her from outside the window. The boy on the other hand is shown briefly playing sports and then studying (before sneaking out his window to serenade Mariah). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The fantastical element of super strength, uncanny agility, and web– slinging exploits are paled in comparison to what lives in the heart of a hero according to comics. Superheroes, or supervillains, are not gods who come down from heaven to save or destroy us, though there are exceptions, but are instead the human spirit uplifted to a point of power. In comics, a hero is someone who does the "right" thing even if it is difficult, because they are, or should, be the best of us. In Spider–Man, heroism is the responsibility to make the world a better place that motivated by the death of his uncle. Peter Parker wishes to bring less heartache to the world; he wishes to prevent what happened to him from happening to others. Peter Parker sacrifices nearly everything in his life in the pursuit of protecting the city but that is not how it began. In the beginning of his career being Spider–Man was a means to an end to gain respect and pay the bills. For Luke Cage a hero is his new identity built from the ashes of his former life. Heroism is an occupation for Luke Cage to regain what was taken from him. But does this monetary influence somehow dampen the heroics of Spider–Man and Luke Cage? And if they both are using their powers to make a better world it begs the question; what does it mean to make the world a better place? What actions are allowed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Not only do they have great voices, but they're successful and confident, not to mention pretty darn rich! Some of these artists knew that they were going to become a star while they were still in diapers. The original creator of Malibu Stacy teams up with Lisa to create Lisa Lionheart to create a positive influence for young girls. This episode raised a lot of questions regarding gender roles and stereotypes. Gender stereotypes are prominent in today's life style. Per gender stereotypes, girls like princesses and boys like cars. These gender roles, however, do not just apply to children. These roles are still very prominent in "grown up" society. There is insurmountable evidence that points to the idea that gender stereotypes is largely accomplished through social factors. Scholars in both sociological and psychological fields believe that gender is constructed through the modeling of appropriate behaviors and the use of systematic rewards and punishments. Evidence also shows that many aspects of gender are not innate, as evidenced by children who do not exhibit a gender specific preference in friends, clothing or toys when placed in gender neutral settings. The gaze, however, is also much more than a particular point of view. It is a conveyance of power, and a way in which a narrator is able to completely shape the way readers understand other characters in the story, imparting their own standards and beliefs onto an often unrealizing audience. The gaze has a very clear relation to power in the sense that it is what shapes how an audience sees certain things. It is not uncommon for people in real life to give someone the title of superhero when that person does a heartless or brave deed. This leads many people to wonder where exactly these attributes of a superhero originated. The basic superhero characteristics of the archetype is a modern creation, first being seen at the beginning of the twentieth century. Superheroes are dedicated to fighting crime, protecting the populace, and often battling supervillains and other evildoers. Some superheroes use their powers and abilities to combat crime while also countering threats against humanity from supervillains, who are their criminal counterparts. Most superheroes have at least one supervillain, known as an archenemy or archnemesis, that will devote all of their energy to vanquishing a superhero (Smith 508). Character Analysis Of 'Avengers Age Of Ultron' Although not comic accurate, his arrogance and imperiousness compels him to build the artificial intelligence 'Ultron' in an attempt to "create a suit of armour around the world". Of course, Stark's self–righteous plan fails and his creation becomes the new super villain of the film Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015). • 72. Spider Man Vs Spider Man Few comic book characters have developed and maintained such a cultural relevance as the character of Spider–Man. The web slinger made his debut all the way back in Amazing Fantasy # 15 in August of 1962. Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, the co–creators of the character, wanted to create a superhero to which the audience could easily relate and identify with. Their publisher, however, felt that the character would be hated by the audience because of the general public's dislike of spiders and for the superhero being a teenager. Lee, having nothing to lose, put his Spider–Man story as the last story in the final issue of the series titled Amazing Fantasy. In this essay, I will show how the character of Spider–Man is still culturally relevant through examining how he has evolved and changed over time, how his stories have examined topical issues such as drug abuse and corruption, and how Spider–Man has continued to be a character with which his fans can identify. To understand Spider–Man and his changes over the years, one must first understand the interrelated nature of Peter Parker and Spider–Man. No other superhero has had their identities be blurred and interrelated as much as Spider–Man. For the purpose of comparison, Superman and his alter ego of Clark Kent are two completely separate identities; in essence, one can exist without the other. Lisa goes on a rant about how "millions of girls will grow up thinking that this is the right way to act! That they cannot be anything more than vacuous ninnies...!"and gets really mad when Bart does not understand why she is so upset. The difference in communication styles is shown here as Lisa is more adept with words than Bart is as Bart can only give Lisa a stupid reply like "that's what I was going to say." This illustrates the stereotype that girls are more expressive and sensitive than boys are. On the other hand, Marge plays the more traditional housewife as her mind never delves into issues that are not relevant to the domestic center; she is not privy to relevant discussions on social issues like Lisa and cannot understand why Lisa is so upset.
