Assertiveness is a skill regularly referred to in social and communication
skills training. Being assertive means being able to stand up for your
own or other people's rights in a calm and positive way, without being
either aggressive, or passively accepting 'wrong'.
5. In psychology there are 3 types of people when it comes to assertiveness:
• Aggressive
• Passive
• Passive and aggressive (depending on the tone of voice) Thank you for
letting me know, you always notice everything (with pain inside)
6. There are three steps to work on our assertiveness:
We need to make sure to think about our feelings, emotions and actions in the
following way:
• Cognitive
• Before it happens
• During the time it happens
• After the time it happens
• Emotional
• What I exactly do in that feared situation?
• What are my social skills?
• External Behavior
• How I feel? Physical symptoms
8. Classroom Management Challenger
Which of these are true for you? Which of these are the most
problematic?
• Some of my students are noisy
• Some of my students are bullies
• Some students do not listen when I talk
• Some students do their homework for another class during my class
What other common problems do you or other teachers at
your school face?
9. • Make the classroom more a digital environment
• Use their cell phones actively in the learning process
• Engage their attention in putting more complex task than just playing
computer game
• Change the subject content new information, make it more attractive
10. • There is not only one solution, we need to understand students by
conducting tests, discussions and observations, and find an
appropriate solution for that type of class.
• We need to be creative because we are creative and we can do it.
• Example: Split the class in groups of 3 or 4, assign one subject to each
group, and ask the students to conduct the lessons.
11. Peer Mediation
Peer mediation is problem solving by youth with youth. It is a process
by which two or more students involved in a dispute meet in a private,
safe and confidential setting to work out problems with the assistance
of a trained student mediator.

1. Statement of the problem
2. Information gathering
3. Identification of the problems
4. Bargaining
5. Settlement
