Euthanasia Is A Controversial Issue
As medical technology advances, people are able to become healthier and have a longer life. There
are many moral issues between life and death. And we know that death is a stage of life and no one
are able to control it. Imagine that you are in a pain of a deadly disease and there are no treatments
are available to you, would you choose to live? Or would you choose to die? The answer to this
question are subject to the person, everyone would come up with a different answer. The desire of
individuals to choose to die instead of suffering, some people believe that it is the human right to
choose of every person. However, legalizing euthanasia is a controversial issue and a much debated
problem in the United States. To understand more about the different sides of euthanasia, it is best
conceived through the causes of euthanasia, different viewpoints and the perspectives of proponents
of euthanasia.
First, it is relevant to have an overall understanding of euthanasia. According to American Heritage
Dictionary, euthanasia refers to "the act or practice of ending the life of a person having a terminal
illness or a medical condition that causes suffering perceived as incompatible with an acceptable
quality of life, as by lethal injection or the suspension of certain medical treatments." The word
"euthanasia" can be traced as far back as in the ancient Greek and Roman civilizations and it
literally means a good death. (American Heritage Dictionary)

Controversial Issues In America
Today in America there are many huge controversial issues such as gun control, legalization of
marijuana, pro life or pro choice and so much more. These arguments are well known and a lot of
people make a stance in what they think on the situation. The article in the New York Times,
Abortion and Punishment by Katha Pollitt speaks about a comment Donald Trump has made and
gives her opinion on the role abortion has in America in the past and present time. Therefore,
women do not have many rights when it comes to abortion even though it is legalized but some
states may try to shut down clinics. Also, it has always been a risky topic in the United States
including many other countries. All in all, Pollitt speaks about views of abortion and ... Show more

Explaining that if murder is serious in the court system in America, even when it is children, where
an embryo is considered as one according to those who are anti–abortion. Then terminating a
pregnancy is called to be killing a child, so should it be considered as murder then? Basically where
women would be imprisoned for a crime, they have committed. Creating prisons to be populated
with females where in a political point of view looks to be an outrageous act to enforce. But, it is
considered that women does not have a clear conscience in making a choice for the child. Stating
that an unplanned pregnancy while in school, having too many kids, health issues or being in a
inadequate relationship where the woman is trying to terminate the pregnancy is a choice she does
not know what is best. Moreover, Pollitt uses evidence of abortion cases where they went after
women since anti–abortions says that the law has not before Roe v. Wade. As a result, it has been
known back in the day women involuntarily stayed pregnant by order. If the woman did not want to
follow 'the rules' then she can look for illegal medical help. Resulting in an investigation by the
authorities and going to court. Following that, Pollitt mentions a case in Indiana that occurred not to
long ago where a woman named Purvi Patel, did an illegal self–abortion,

The Controversial Issue Of Abortion
Today, people have the right to voice their thoughts regarding a topic, rather they're different or
alike, creating a new philosophy about it, or supporting the traditional belief. In regards to the topic,
Abortion has been a subject of controversial matters. Some believing they have the right to do such
an act while others would absolutely disagree. Before supporting such an act or not, we typically
take into consideration the goods and bads of the action first. While taking a life might be one of the
more foreseeable cons of the act, there are good outcomes as–well. Such as, not having said child
endure hardship during their life. That child being the difference between a mother having the
means to support herself or not. Lastly, that child doesn 't have to suffer more due to the condition of
that unprepared parent. No child should be brought into this world only to live a short life and meet
the same fate as they would have if they have been aborted. On the other hand, I side with those who
agree. Not to be referred to as a "baby killer" but as someone who has an idea of the consequences
of copulation, rather it 's intended or in some cases unintended. As stated by Dorothy Fadiman in the
magazine article "When abortion was illegal" "We are at a juncture in human evolution, where we
either must allow individuals to create appropriate alternatives within their own lives and
communities, or we 're going to destroy ourselves."(Fadimen par.10) In other words, outcomes we

The Controversial Issue Of Euthanasia
Euthanasia
For a long time, euthanasia has been a controversial issue in countries all around the globe.
However, with active technological progress, this topic becomes more urgent than 50 years ago.
Undoubtedly, it is influenced by many factors. One of the leading debatable points is the invention
and improvement of artificial life support devices. It is impossible to overestimate the importance of
this theme as it is related to the most important value of each person – their life and lives of their
loved ones. Moreover, it is a morally difficult moment to highlight such an issue in a society with
the help of specialists of various profiles: doctors, psychologists, priests, and lawyers. Thus,
euthanasia is still a taboo that causes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similarly, euthanasia means the facilitating the onset of death and the cessation of the suffering of
terminally ill patients (with their consent or with the consent of relatives or guardians). In
jurisprudence, it is the satisfaction of the request of an incurably diseased patient about the
accomplishment of his death. This concept applies not only to people but also to animals, for whose
life the owners are responsible. However, these definitions still do not give a complete picture of the
concept of euthanasia as none of them includes all possible situations of application of this method.
To unify this concept, it is necessary to mean the deliberate actions of a medical worker with regard
to ask of a patient or his official deputies to stop physical or mental suffering, that is, life.
There are two types of euthanasia. First of all, it can be divided into voluntary and involuntary
methods. In the first case, a mercy killing is a specific request of a capable patient. This means that
it is a balanced decision of an adequate person that is based on the own desire and values.
Involuntary euthanasia is committed with an incapacitated patient in accordance with the decision of
relatives. Such a person is in an inadequate state and cannot express strong consent or disagreement.
For example, a patient has a serious mental illness or he is on artificial life support devices.
Also, euthanasia

Positive Controversial Issues
American model and actress Carre Otis once said, "Exposing any subject that is argumentative
means risking judgement, but these are the topics that need to be talked about the most." She, and
many others like myself, believe that a copious amount of controversial matters need to be resolved
by public discussion. Quite a few of these subjects have a more positive effect in the United States
when they are foregone. Currently some of the most talked about issues are the right to have an
abortion, the legalization of gay marriage, and the rights that gun owners have. These topics may be
disputable, but if people are fully informed they can see the obvious positive outcomes that these
matters create.

The second amendment in the Bill of Rights protects the right of any person in the United States,
who is over 18, to own a gun. The second amendment was passed in December 15, 1791, and states
that it is "the right of the people to bear arms," which mean that since the formation of America as a
country the citizens have been able to own weaponry. Legally, in 2016, any person is allowed to
own to own a gun if they have a permit, which in fact is already a law that makes it so weapons
cannot be wielded without limits. The leisure activity of hunting and the act of having a form of self
defense harder or even impossible to do. Guns are used in sports, meaning 32% of gun owners hunt
and 7% use guns to target shoot. 79% of male gun owners and 80% of female gun owners have guns
in order to create a sense of security and safety. Since it's clear that past gun control laws in other
countries have failed it is more effective to educate people about guns instead of banning them.
Mexico has the strictest gun laws in the world, but in 2012, they had 11,309 gun murders. The
Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers' Institute stated, "a knowledgeable gun owner is
rarely involved in an accident." Since the

Abortion : A Controversial Issue
Abortion is a very controversial issue. To first start out abortion is the deliberate termination of a
woman's pregnancy, most often performed within the first 22 weeks of pregnancy. People can either
be pro–choice or pro–life for abortion. Being pro–choice means that people believe that it is a
woman's choice to get an abortion if they want one. Pro–life means people believe no matter what if
a woman is pregnant they should have the baby; no abortion. I intent to explain why women who get
pregnant should have the right to get an abortion, if they so choose to.
Abortion has had a very long history. Women were getting abortions before they were even legal.
Abortions in 1800's weren't as safe, but women were still getting them. Abortion was illegal in the
United States, but certain states made abortion legal, to save the health of the mother. The laws for
abortion depending on the state, which each state had different. In 1970 Alaska, Hawaii, New York,
and Washington liberalize abortion laws. Which made abortion available at the request of a woman
and her doctor. But now in 2015 all states allow abortions but each state has different laws on it.
Example in Ohio to have an abortion it has to be by a licensed physician, public funds limited to life
endangerment, rape, and incest, and parental involvement required for minors, parents must give
consent. That's only some of the laws, but in other states they are a lot more stick.

The Controversial Issue Of Abortion
Soon the Supreme Court will hear the most controversial abortion case they have in a decade. The
2013 Texas House Bill 3994, was challenged due to indications that it may be unconstitutional and
violate the "Undue Burden Clause" in the US Constitution, which states that a law cannot be
restrictive or burdensome of one's fundamental rights as a human and US citizen. With roughly half
of the total 41 clinics closing after the law passed in 2013, women are now waiting longer and
paying more for abortions (Goodnough, 2016). The Law, which went into effect January of this year,
requires doctors to have admitting privileges at a hospital within 30 miles of the clinic and mandates
that all clinics must be considered ambulatory surgical centers, meaning more equipment and higher
costs (Hoffman, 2016). Those advocating for the law say they are only looking out for the safety of
women. This statement stems from Kermit Gosnell, a Philadelphia doctor who was convicted in
2010 and charged with murder in 2013. The charges were the result of involuntary manslaughter in
the case of a late–term abortion at a clinic that had not been inspected in 16 years. This new law
hopes to combat such tragedies by requiring admitting privileges at local hospitals. Through the
extensive process, unqualified doctors would be identified and those fit would be reviewed regularly
(Hoffman, 2016). Unfortunately, this law appears to be somewhat unnecessary and burdensome. The
new requirements put stress on the

The Controversial Issue Of Abortions
As girls reach a certain age, they hit puberty and their bodies start to change. Mentally, their
hormones, attitudes and perspectives on life start to differ. Physically, they start to grow in places
that are visible to the human eye, but they also start to develop in places that we cannot see by just
looking at them. This includes their reproductive system, which worldwide has caused many
controversial issues that will be further looked upon throughout this paper. When the word
"Abortion" is heard, a heated argument often arises between couples, families, governments, and
most commonly throughout women's minds around the world. Over the past hundred years, the
topic of abortions has been an ongoing issue. Many people agree to this practice, while others see it
as completely absurd. In the past, present and most likely into the future, women have very little say
in deciding whether to have an abortion or to have a baby. For many women, rape is a major issue.
Without a choice, in most commonly a life or death situation, women are raped and impregnated by
the man who raped them. In cases like this, the majority of women are not financially stable to have
a child, nor are they physically or mentally prepared for the life they have ahead. This is when the
discussion of abortion comes into place and the controversial argument begins. In Canada in 1892,
parliament passed a criminal code that stated the prohibition of abortions as well as the sale,
distribution and

Prostitution Is A Controversial Issue
Prostitution is a controversial issue that has been around since the beginning of time and has
recently became a major problem in today's society. Prostitution is defined as the practice or
occupation of engaging in sexual activity with someone for payment. Prostitution is often times
referred to as "the oldest profession in the business". It is prohibited in several countries, the United
States included, though in some countries it is accepted and is legal in many others. Today,
prostitution is so controversial because of the number of youth involved in it. Those who oppose
prostitution are against it because it endangers a big portion of women with diseases and can also be
considered as a form of slavery. Due to the fact that prostitution increases the risk of sexually
transmitted diseases, or STDs, while also destroying the image of areas it has heavily polluted, along
with the morality of the women involved in it, it is seen as a practice that needs to be done away
with, or mandated by the government. Prostitutes solicit their bodies and sex to 'johns,' the common
name for men who take pleasure in the company of prostitutes. Johns are textually defined as men
not only willing, but wanting to engage in sexual activities with prostitutes in exchange for money.
The johns are willing to pay various amounts of money in order to receive sexual pleasure and
entertainment in different forms. They often engage in these activities with them without regard to
their own health or

Abortion : A Controversial Issue
Abortion
Abortion by definition is a deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed
during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy. This is a very controversial issue because many opinions
arise about whether or not a child is to be considered alive at a certain point in the pregnancy, as
well as the reasoning behind a mothers decision for killing her unborn child. The ethical beliefs of
this issue could be based strictly political, religiously, or a combination of both depending on one's
view. More than 40 million abortions are performed worldwide each year. If you want to break it
down by according to the U.S, statistics showed that 1.2 million abortions were performed in the
year 2008 alone. According to Www.guttmacher.org, The abortion rate was about 20 per every 1,000
women aged 15–44. The two primary positions on the matter are either Pro–Life (against abortion)
or Pro–Choice (for abortion). However, it seems to be not so simple. Some believe that abortion is
permitted under certain circumstances such as: rape, incest, or perhaps if the baby is deformed.
Some will claim that Pro–Life means that there are some instances where it is morally wrong to kill
an unborn infant, but others will argue that Pro–Choice means that there are some instances where it
is morally wrong to kill an unborn infant. So is either position completely for or against abortion?
As you can see, this issue is extremely controversial. However, as these opinions stand, there are

was immigration, feminism, and employment. Donald Trump believes that immigrants should not be

of the controversial things he said pertaining to Mexicans was they are dangerous criminals and
drug dealers that is basically up to no good and they are coming here to "steal our jobs" he also

Trump has discussed outrageous topics regarding women's body and the decisions they should make

place for teens and women to go when deciding whether they want to start a family or not, planned
parenthood also serves a free clinic to many young women. Planned parenthood has the tools and
resources to keep women safe and he decided that he wants to cut the funding out because in his
opinion women should not be having abortions and some other uncomfortable statements were said
and being a women of color it is offensive to have someone show no respect towards women along
with the unwanted suggestion of the decisions women should make with their bodies. Trump also
tries to conform women not based on their intelligence but on their looks as if there are nothing

Abortion: A Controversial Issue
One of the major controversial issues confronting the society today is abortion. I choose abortion as
the topic of discussion since it contradicts my values and beliefs. Abortion is the extraction of the
human fetus from the mother's womb with an intention to end the life of that fetus prior to its natural
birth. The controversy surrounding abortion is whether it should be legalized or not? In my opinion,
abortion is morally and ethically wrong because it leads to violation of human rights. Life is
precious and only it's Creator has the right to take it away. I chose this issue for discussion to bring
to light many of the hidden facts and arguments, of which people are unaware and not very sensitive

The wide agreement amongst men and women on this issue shows that bitterness in political debate
can be overcome by compassion, protection and the power of conscience. Abortion is immoral not
only scientifically, but also through a religious perspective. People thoughts, actions and their
behavior are usually governed by their religious beliefs. Pro–life arguments are rooted in America's
heritage of respect for god as our creator and the source of our rights. The "Holy Bible" that is a
symbol of hope to most of the religions in America, is in opposition to abortion. Pope John Paul II,
who has been the leader of the world's Roman Catholics for 25 years, disapproves of birth control
and abortion. His preaching is based on the Bible which says that:–
1. Human life is unique in that God created us in His image.
2. Pre–natal human life is fully human and thus precious to God.
3. The Bible forbids us from shedding innocent blood.
Thus, in accordance to the Bible, killing is wrong. Therefore, supporting somebody else do it is
equally sinful as doing the sin yourself. The issue of abortion is not only limited to pro–life and pro–
choice debates but is also adding fuel to the growth of the "Dead Baby Industry," which is rapidly
growing with the trade in tissues from aborted children. In this industry, plentiful aborted fetuses are
being dissected alive, harvested and sold in pieces. Since abortion was

Controversial Issues in Archaelogy
Indiana Jones is a renowned character in today's media. He is portrayed as a fearless fedora–wearing
archaeologist, and his goal is to collect artifacts and preserve them in museums. While the field of
archaeology is exciting, and the idea of partaking in perilous adventures may seem alluring, the
archaeologist was depicted in an incorrect manner. An archaeologist is someone who studies human
history through the excavation of sites and the examination of artifacts. Archaeologists study the
past to learn more about the lives and cultures of people before. The science of archaeology is a
relatively new and quickly growing field; yet, as expected with science, numerous ethical and
controversial issues have emerged.
The history of archaeology plays an important role in the controversial issues surrounding the
science. Archaeology has only recently become a concrete science. Although mankind has always
had an interest in the past, the root of archaeology is believed to have started in the fifteenth and
sixteenth centuries. During this time period, artifacts were mainly sought after for collecting. The
upper class of the Renaissance period collected artifacts from places such as Rome and Greece to
display in their homes as art. As time went on, the lure of historical art and artifacts increased.
"Classical archaeology" is the direct result of this curiosity. The "classical archaeologists" were
mainly wealthy men that collected artifacts for their homes and studied where they

Abortion : A Controversial Issue
Abortion is a controversial issue in many countries all the time and there are always two sides of
abortion. Pro–life supporters believe that abortion is immoral, so they argue that it should be illegal
because an unborn baby is life. However, they do not figure out that woman who is on the inevitable
situation such as infection, rape, or extreme poverty would still have the abortion even though the
abortion is illegal. Many women die due to unsafe abortion, which is illegal and performed by
uneducated people. Therefore, the abortion should be legal to protect the life of 'alive women'
because women's life is equal to human's right. I would like to provide more affirmative bases to
support abortion in this paper. Women have right to control their own bodies and decisions. As
human free will, women can determine their decision for their future. It is sometimes inevitable to
maintain their lifestyle that they have before they become pregnant. Although pregnant is the
responsibility of both, woman and man, as a result of having sex, women should give up their career
or study because pregnancy and childbirth are not as easy at all as just people generally think.
Furthermore, women who have the abortion are in difficult condition, which is the unwanted. The
Guttmacher institute research said that unintended or unplanned pregnancies were 41 percent of
national pregnancies (Abortion Worldwide: A Decade of Uneven Progress). This high rate is from
the unavoidable inability of

A Controversial Issue Of Pi
A controversial issue for this book would definitely be the religion. Pi's mother and father found it
totally absurd to have more than one religion, and contradicting ones at that. As did the pandit, the
priest, and the imam. In the book, there is a three–page long argument between the priest, the imam,
the pandit, and Pi's parents all claiming the other is mistaken and that Pi is a Muslim or a Hindu or a
Christian. Pi blurts out, "Bapu Gandhi said, 'All religions are true.' I just want to love God," (Martel
69). Another controversial issue dealing with Life of Pi that is not necessarily in the book but rather
dealing with people who have read the book. Many people believe the story Pi tells about being at
sea with the animals is truth, while others believe it is with people. There have actually been debates
on whether or not the people version is true. Which, in the book, it says, "So tell me, since it makes
no factual difference to you and you can't prove the question either way, which story do you prefer?
Which is the better story, the story with animals or the story without animals?" (Martel 317). It does
not actually state which story is the truth, but the reader must make their own inference to piece
together what they think.

descent. In the years of his childhood, Martel lived in many places including Costa Rica, France,

The Controversial Issue Of Abortion
The topic of abortion in the United States has been and remains one of the most controversial issues
in western culture and politics. An abortion can be defined as the expulsion of a fetus from the
uterus before it can survive on its own. This comprises two major forms of abortion: spontaneous,
which is often referred to as a miscarriage or induced abortion, which is the deliberate termination
of a pregnancy. The term is commonly used to refer to the induced abortion, and this is the abortion,
which has been filled with controversy. The sides involved in the debate are basically divided by
party lines, generally with liberals as "pro–choice" and conservatives as "pro–life." Behind the
battles are divergent views on when human life begins, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the contrary, some mainline Protestant denominations such as the United Church of Christ,
Methodist Church, and the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, to name a few, are more
permissive of women's reproductive rights. As with society as a whole, Christians are divided on the
issue of abortion and have beliefs ranging from the extreme pro–life to the extreme pro–choice
position. This means that perception and focus are the main issues in directing people from any faith
towards a particular stance on the subject. If an individual decides to focus on one part of the story,
then definitely there will be a distorted representation of what they support. The result is that there
will be people who are ignorant or neutral on abortion while others choose to support abortions as
others oppose the act.
Groups' strongly supporting or opposing abortion hold sharply different views on the topic. It is
essential to note that an individual may either be a strong supporter or oppose the act since any
compromise means a choice of life over death and vice versa. This strange facet of abortion makes it
a very controversial subject because both sides of the debate meet nowhere. Personal faiths through
religion make them have completely varying opinions on the subject. Pro–life supporters claim that
it is unethical to take away an unborn child's life; therefore, abortion at any stage in the pregnancy is
murder. They support the constitutional and

Catherine cannot safely fend for herself. In the words of the prosecution, one of this view's main
proponents is Catherine admits "that she's afraid she'll be like her dad (Auburn, 82). The issue is
important because Catherine states that her sister "wants me in New York she wants to look after

At age twenty–four Catherine lost her father Robert. He was both mentally unstable and incapable
of caring for himself. Catherine assumed the responsibilities for her father when he became

either to support or to oppose the issue. Homosexuality throughout the years has sparked so much
controversy that it was brought to the United States Supreme Court, which is known to be the

view and treat homosexuals. Especially considering gay marriage, whether individuals will support

states to reconsider and derailed from the fourteenth amendment, which acknowledges equal

consequences of the choice itself. While some consider abortion murder, others believe it as saving a
life. It can save a mother from an unwanted pregnancy and it can save a child from an unwanted
future. A woman has the right to choose abortion if they believe it is necessary and dispose freely of
their own body. I will begin by arguing that abortion can have the best overall consequence when a
mother and a child's future is uncertain. A child shouldn't be put through a rough childhood if the
mother is aware of harsh living conditions or not being able to physically, mentally or economically
support a child. For instance, if a woman was raped, the mother would be unable to raise a child
because of the emotional pain caused by the rape, and the child would just be a constant reminder of
what happened which can lead to abuse of the child. Or let us say that the woman is in an abusive
relationship with

Breastfeeding : A Controversial Issue
Breastfeeding has been a very controversial subject for many people over the years. Some mothers
are very passionate about breastfeeding; while there are just as many mothers who are very
persistent about the fact that breastfeeding is just not for them. However, an even bigger issue that
has been on the front lines regarding those who have made the decision to breastfeed; whether a
mother should be free to nurse their children wherever they choose or be forced to nurse their
children in private. Many seem to have an opinion on the matter, which makes this a hot button
topic for many. Interestingly enough, this surprises me, considering that breastfeeding is not a new
concept, but has been around since the beginning of time. It does seem that women have embraced
breastfeeding more for whatever reason, and are a lot more comfortable with nursing their children
out in public. "American mothers who breastfeed after birth number about 64%. By the time six
months rolls around that number plummets to 29%. Could this drop in breastfeeding be blamed on
the negative reactions that women encounter from the public and their families?" (Ephraim, RD,
CCN, 2006. para.8). There was a time in history when women were much more discreet about our
bodies, but it seems that we are way past that time. Apparently this became more evident during
World War II. Breasts became more sexualized after the war by the pinup poster girl and Playboy
magazine (Bentley, 2015). We can see that change by the

The Controversial Issue Of Euthanasia
Euthanasia should not be legalised in Australia.
Good morning 10C and Ms Leoni,
Today I am here to talk about the controversial issue of euthanasia. This year, the Greens party has
planned to introduce a 'Rights of the Terminally Ill' bill into state parliament. This has raised the
issue of whether or not euthanasia should be legalised in Australia. Euthanasia is the practice of
ending a person's life in order to release them from an incurable disease or intolerable suffering.
There are two types of euthanasia: voluntary and involuntary. Voluntary euthanasia occurs upon
request and involuntary euthanasia refers to ending the life of a person who is not mentally
competent, such as a comatose patient, or hastening the death of someone who ... Show more

The biggest concern is what is known as 'the slippery slope'. What I'm basically trying to say is that
voluntary euthanasia will inevitably lead to involuntary euthanasia. The Dutch experience is a
perfect example of this. In Holland, where euthanasia is legal, it was found that in 1990, 52 per cent
of the 10,588 cases of a doctor's intent to hasten death were done with no explicit request from the
patient. According to the Remmelink Report, an official Dutch government survey of euthanasia
practices, it was found that more than 1000 patients are involuntarily euthanized each year. This
proves that there really can be no safeguards in legalised euthanasia. If you are elderly and at death's
door in a hospital short of beds, would euthanasia be a good enough excuse if your vulnerability was
taken advantage of? We all need to understand that no proposal has ever been devised which can be
guaranteed not to be abused. It seems that abuse is unavoidable since people with bad intentions
exist all over the world. So let's learn from the Dutch experience and not let this happen in Australia.
It is widely believed by many that if a person is willing to die, then it is their own choice and they
should be given the right to do so. However, they fail to understand that one's 'willingness' could in
fact be their anxiety and fear of becoming a burden on others, which drives them to make some
extremely tough decisions under

The Controversial Issue Of Euthanasia
In discussions of terminal illness, one controversial issue has been the legalization of euthanasia. On
one hand, people contend that they should have the right to choose to die painlessly. On the other
hand, skeptics argue that patients with a terminal illness should let nature run its course. Others even
maintain that it devalues life. My own view is that people should have the right to choose assisted
suicide. Euthanasia is the act or practice of killing or permitting the death of hopelessly sick or
injured individuals in a relatively painless way for reasons of mercy. There are many forms of
euthanasia that are allowed in a few states as long as the legal restrictions are met. To be voluntarily
euthanized, you must be suffering from a terminal illness that can't be cured or if the patient has a
very low chance of surviving treatment for their illness. If a terminally ill patient expressed to be
euthanized at a competence state prior to an incompetence state then others can decide to end his life
on good terms because they know that is what they would've wanted. Many lives could be laid to
rest peacefully and painlessly, that is if the law allowed terminally ill patients to do so everywhere.
Euthanasia is legal in quite a few countries regarding some restrictions. Euthanasia is legal in
Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg. Different restriction policies of euthanasia apply to the
assisted suicide policies that are legal in countries such as Albania, Colombia,

Controversial Issues Summary
Throughout this article, Hess discusses not what a controversial issue is, but whether teachers should
disclose their own political opinions. Immediately after reading the title of this article thoughts
began to roll into my head about the views that schools take when discussing political topics.
Teachers are told all the time to keep their political views to themselves, in order to allow their
students to form their own opinions. A teacher states, "I don't want to abuse that power– and I don't
want kids to agree with my views just because I am the teacher" (Hess, 2005, p. 27). Another
teacher states "they have the obligation to model the importance of taking a stand on issues" (Hess,
2005, p. 27). I agree with both statements. I think that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Only two approaches came to my mind, a teacher either shares their political view or doesn't. In
other words, a teacher either teaches with bias or is unbiased. The four approaches that Hess
discusses are defined as denial, avoidance, privilege, and balance. The one that shows no bias is the
approach Hess defines as balance. Through this approach, students can form whatever opinion they
want, but first they must understand both perspectives to take a firm position on an issue. By
understanding both pros and cons of an issue students can advocate their side more effectively.
During this year's election at Christ the Lord School in Brookfield students and teachers held a
mock election. Students were taught about both candidates and then were to vote for the candidate
they thought would make the best president. This is a great way to get students involved in the
election process. However, teachers need to remember that age will have an impact on how students
think. School age children rely heavily on their parent's opinions as well as other adults such as their
teacher. Changing that is a challenge. Therefore, the job of a teacher is not to teach students what to
think, but to teach them the procedure and the steps to take to form an

Controversial Policies : Abortion : A Controversial Issue
Mohamed Beheiry Stundent ID: 100163591 English 1302 – fall semester 2016 Controversial
Policies: Abortion Abortion is one of the most controversial topics in United States history.
According to the Guttmacher Institute, since 1973, roughly 50 million legal induced abortions have
been performed in the United States" (Guttmacher). There are many reasons why women choose to
abort their child; they cannot afford a baby, they are too young, they have been raped, they have
been pressured by family to go through with the operation, etc. However, regardless of these
reasons, there is still a huge part of the population that is very strongly opinionated about being anti–
abortion. Abortion is the termination of pregnancy by the removal or expulsion from the uterus of a
fetus or embryo before viability. Abortion, when induced in the developed world in accordance with
local law, is among the safest procedures in medicine. However, unsafe abortions result in
approximately 47,000 maternal deaths and 5 million hospital admissions per year globally. An
estimated 44 million abortions are performed globally each year, with slightly under half of those
performed unsafely. The incidence of abortion has stabilized in recent years, having previously spent
decades declining as access to family planning education and contraceptive services increased. Forty
percent of the world 's women have access to legal induced abortions (within gestational limits).
Induced abortion has a long history and

Abortion Is A Controversial Issue
Abortion is a controversial subject for many Canadians despite the fact that it's a procedure that has
been effectively decriminalized in the country since 1969. There are approximately 100,000
abortions performed every year though that number has continued to dwindle every year for the past
two decades. The research this proposal is looking to conduct is on the lack of abortion clinics
available in the rural areas of Canada in particular as well as the constant risk of defunding of
existing clinics throughout the country. In this proposal, we will not only set out to establish the
history of abortion here in Canada but seek to provide enough reason in order to seek funding to
pursue the collecting of data from medical institutions in all ten provinces. This paper will serve to
set the argument of why abortion has been a controversial subject as well to make the argument that
it is a right for every Canadian woman to have ready access to an abortion clinic – irrelevant of
where she was born in the country.

The Controversial Issues Of Abortion
One of the most highly controversial issues plaguing our country today is that of abortion. This
debate arose in the mid–to–late 1800's when states began passing laws to make abortion illegal
("History of Abortion"). Although each law varied from state–to–state, the reason for making it
illegal seemed to be similar: All surgical procedures, including abortion, were risky and hospitals
and well–practiced doctors were not common in most areas. Back–alley abortions (illegal abortions)
were very common during this time. Even when the scientific methods and technology became more
advanced, women were still getting unsafe abortions. It wasn't until the Roe v. Wade debate in 1973
that women were able to get a safe, legal abortion from a well–trained medical professional. It also
ruled that women had their right to privacy, and it was the women's right to decide whether or not
she would have children. There have been many restrictions and guidelines put on abortion such as
parental involvement, mandatory waiting periods, and biased counseling. As of right now, abortion
is legal. Abortion should remain legal because of the following issues child–bearing women can
potentially face: medical issues, safety concerns, and rape/incest situations. Women considering
abortion may be undergoing this procedure due to very serious medical issues, either with the child
or themselves. A common, fatal condition in children where most women choose to terminate their
pregnancy is Trisomy 18.

The Controversial Issue Of Abortion
Abortion has been and continues to be a controversial topic in the United States. For many years
there have been disputes whether abortion should be legal or not. Some people view it as someone
not taking responsibility, others see it as a choice.
The World Health Organization estimated in 2004 that unsafe abortions caused 68,000 maternal
deaths worldwide each year. (AbortionsProcon.org) Women tend to have unsafe abortions when they
are denied abortions or do not have access to a legal and safe abortion. Women face many
complications when it comes to abortion. The death of a woman aborting increases up to four times
more than having a full term pregnancy. Every time a woman has an abortion her chances of dying
are increased by forty–five percent. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Approximately one million teenagers get pregnant every year. (Biro) Thirty five percent of them
choose to abort because of how young they are and they plan on attending college. There has been a
total of fifty million abortions between 1973 and 2011. (Biro) Again many women have obstacles in
the way that would prevent them from being able to care for a child. Every baby is a miracle and his
or her life is valuable. Abortion is the killing of a human being and goes against God's word. By the
time a baby is conceived, he or she is recognized by God as demonstrated in Jeremiah 1:5 " Before I
formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified
thee." (AbortionsProCon.org) Baby's born or not do have rights and it is not fair for them to pay the
price of the consequences of others. The fetus is a life but sometimes that life must be ended.
Personhood begins after a fetus becomes viable. (AbortionProCon.org) In other words, the fetus is
able to survive outside the womb or after birth, not at conception. Roe V. Wade gave women the
right to a legal abortion, this prevents maternal death due to unsafe practices. In 1972, there were
thirty nine maternal deaths from illegal abortions. By having the accessibility to an abortion women
are less likely to have mental issues than those who are denied. (AbortionsProCon.org) Everyone

Abortion : A Controversial Issue
1.21 million─that is the average total of abortions performed annually in America
(operationrescue.org). Abortion is a very controversial issue in the United States and all across the
globe. First, I will discuss the different types of abortion. Next, I will explain when the abortions are
performed. Then, I will share some of the laws regarding abortion in the United States. Finally, I
will express my views on abortion. Abortion should be illegal in all states. First, I will discuss the
various types of abortion. There are three common types of legal abortion existent in the United
States today─the abortion pill, aspiration, and dilation and evacuation. The abortion pill is often
called medication abortion, but its scientific name is mifepristone. The first step for this is to have a
physical examination by a doctor, and then the health care provider can give the pill that works by
stopping the hormone progesterone, which causes the lining of the uterus to break down. Along with
the abortion pill itself, antibiotics are received from the health care provider. A second medication,
misoprostol, is taken 24 to 48 hours after the abortion pill to empty the uterus. Two weeks later, a
follow up examination will take place to confirm that the abortion was successful and that the
woman is healthy (Planned Parenthood). Aspiration, or vacuum aspiration, is another form of
abortion, and it takes place in a clinic. This works by emptying the uterus with suction using a
manual syringe

How do countries feel abut controversial topics such as: Homosexuality, Abortion, Premarital Sex
and Divorce.
Controversial issues have plagued mankind since the very beginning and that is due the ideology
that without controversy you cant flourish as a race, country or simply a group of people. However,
the controversial issues we face today different from continent to continent and country to country
due to the culture, norms and moral values each person is exposed too. There are four issues in
particular that rise up again and again and they are: Homosexuality, Abortion, Premarital Sex and
Divorce. The four countries in question differ from one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The New York Times reported a staggering 23% of adults are not affiliated to any religion. The rest
of the population is a mixture of religions such as: Christian, Catholics, Islam, and others. This
change in religious affiliations isn't affecting just the individuals who now partake in a non–religion
category but also the political parties. The Republican Party relies on the votes of those who affiliate
with the Christian faith and if those votes change due to a change in religious affiliation then we
could also see a decline in the number of morality for these issues (Cohen). For now, the numbers
seem to be close related which means that due to diversity of religion and non–religious affiliates,
the morale seems to balance itself

The Controversial Issue Of Abortion
Abortion. The subject of abortion has become one of the most controversial issues in health care;
deciding whether to abort a life or keep it. There are many ethical issues surrounding the topic.
When does the fetus become a person? Is it when they grow arms and legs? Is it when there is a
heartbeat? Is there an exact point, where ethically, having an abortion is wrong? There are many
reasons people opt to have an abortion. Perhaps the child is bared through non consensual sex or
from the failure of birth control. It is considered acceptable under those circumstances to end a life
mostly because it's a life that wasn't exactly wanted in the first place, but is it acceptable for a child
's life to end when the parents discover their child has a genetic disorder? Now, through genetic
testing, parents can see if their child has a genetic disorder before their child is even born, and many
parents consider or even opt to abort their child due to the discovery of a disability. In The Globe
and Mail, Ian Brown writes an interesting article on the controversial issue of abortion and genetic
testing through his personal experience with his son Walker. In I'm glad I never had to decide
whether my strange, lonely boy ought to exist, Ian brown describes his personal experience with his
son who has an extremely rare genetic disorder, cardiofaciocutaneous syndrome. He explains the
trials and tribulations of having a son with a rare disability and the ethical debate surrounding
whether

Discrimination Such A Controversial Issue
What is discrimination and why is it such an issue? Discrimination is something that is a major
problem that mainly deals with race, religion, and gender. Over the years discrimination has
improved, but it is still a controversial topic.
Discrimination mainly originated from slavery and other physical characteristics. Past history has
made everyone now refer back to that when in reality it has nothing to do with their race. It was an
awful thing that African Americans had to go through, but our society is more accepting now. There
are still some people that are racist and discriminate against African Americans, but as a whole it has
gotten much better.
Not only do people discriminate against race, but also

The Controversial Issue Of Abortion
The Controversial Issue of Abortion According to Different Faiths
The American Heritage Medical Dictionary defines abortion as the "induced termination of a
pregnancy with destruction of the embryo or fetus." A study conducted by Planned Parenthood
found that three out of every ten women over the age of forty–five, have had an abortion.
Terminating a pregnancy by abortion catalyzes many disagreements on whether a woman is
destroying a human life or not. This type of controversy that follows abortion affects almost every
field it touches, including politics. Evidently, this often forces women to choose between their
personal preferences and religious beliefs. This ongoing issue still presents many reasons that drive

Catholic's are certain that these liberties are a natural God given right that cannot be taken away
from an unborn fetus. In the argument involving abortions the Catechism claims, "God, the Lord of
life, has entrusted to men the noble mission of safeguarding life...Life must be protected with the
utmost care from the moment of conception: abortion and infanticide are abominable crimes" (The
Catechism). To put it another way, God created humans on earth to protect every form of life; from
conception until a natural demise, a life has to constantly be nurtured. With that being said, any form
of contraception that prevents a life to take place, is considered an unspeakable offense.
Sam Harris, an atheist who composed Letter to a Christian Nation, spoke about how essential a
human embryo, or blastocyst, is to modern day science. Harris argues that these cells do not have
their own minds or neurons yet. He also remarks how they "could offer therapeutic breakthroughs
for every disease or injury process that human beings suffer...embryonic stem cells can become any
tissue in the human body" (Harris 29). To put it bluntly, Catholic's completely disagree with Harris'
statement; the catechism claims, "it is immoral to produce human embryos intended for exploitation
as disposable biological material" (The Catechism). Therefore, Catholic's strongly believe that it is
completely immoral to terminate an

The Controversial Issue Of Abortion
In recent discussions of abortion, the controversial issue has become whether or not women should
be given the right to take their unborn child's life away. Many believe in all having the right to live
while others believe in the right to be given a choice. Women do not want to be given restrictions,
they want to be able to have a voice when making decisions. With abortion women have a hard time
making their decision based upon the judgement others make if the decision of abortion is followed
through or also finding a place for additional help. Even though abortion is legal, with the belief of
unfairness to abort a child, doctors are unwilling to provide their services. Abortion is viewed
differently to many but it is determined upon the situation. While I do believe in the right of all
humans being able to live, I stand by the right's woman deserve by empowering their own decisions.
In many cases women have a difficult time finding someone who is willing to understand their
needs or wants. Americans have come quick to judge women if it involves them killing their own
child, though not all situations are brought clear. Dr. Willie J. Parker, is one of few who believe in
women having rights. Dr. Parker has decided to give woman a chance to abort their child because of
the understanding of his job. When returning to his hometown to perform abortions, he states "If
there is an outbreak and you have the ability to relieve suffering, you rush to the site of the need."

Abortion : A Controversial Issue
Abortion Abortion has been a very controversial issue in the United States for the past several
decades. Many people think that is it morally wrong. To say that something is morally wrong is an
opinion. Since everyone's opinions are different on this topic there have been many court cases and
protests against abortion. However there are a lot of people out there that believe that abortion is a
rightful decision. My personal opinion on the abortion controversy is that every woman should have
the choice on whether or not they are ready or are capable of raising a baby. Although there are
many different choices one can make with regard to whether or not they are ready to raise a child,
like adoption, it is still ultimately the woman's decision on what they want to do. Carrying a child is
a very stressful and sometimes painful process. There are a lot of financial decisions, health
decisions, and future decisions that have to be carefully thought out before becoming a parent.
Parenthood is a life–altering step one must take in life, and abortion is one way that a women can
postpone or avoid changing their life in a very extreme way. There are many different pros and cons
that come along with the abortion debate. One of the reasons that I believe abortion is sometimes
necessary is if a women does not have financial stability to raise a child. Raising a child is a very
expensive decision to make. A women must be able to provide food, diapers, milk, clothes, a home,

Euthanasia Is A Controversial Issue

  • 1. Euthanasia Is A Controversial Issue As medical technology advances, people are able to become healthier and have a longer life. There are many moral issues between life and death. And we know that death is a stage of life and no one are able to control it. Imagine that you are in a pain of a deadly disease and there are no treatments are available to you, would you choose to live? Or would you choose to die? The answer to this question are subject to the person, everyone would come up with a different answer. The desire of individuals to choose to die instead of suffering, some people believe that it is the human right to choose of every person. However, legalizing euthanasia is a controversial issue and a much debated problem in the United States. To understand more about the different sides of euthanasia, it is best conceived through the causes of euthanasia, different viewpoints and the perspectives of proponents of euthanasia. First, it is relevant to have an overall understanding of euthanasia. According to American Heritage Dictionary, euthanasia refers to "the act or practice of ending the life of a person having a terminal illness or a medical condition that causes suffering perceived as incompatible with an acceptable quality of life, as by lethal injection or the suspension of certain medical treatments." The word "euthanasia" can be traced as far back as in the ancient Greek and Roman civilizations and it literally means a good death. (American Heritage Dictionary) According to the Medical News ... • 3. Controversial Issues In America Today in America there are many huge controversial issues such as gun control, legalization of marijuana, pro life or pro choice and so much more. These arguments are well known and a lot of people make a stance in what they think on the situation. The article in the New York Times, Abortion and Punishment by Katha Pollitt speaks about a comment Donald Trump has made and gives her opinion on the role abortion has in America in the past and present time. Therefore, women do not have many rights when it comes to abortion even though it is legalized but some states may try to shut down clinics. Also, it has always been a risky topic in the United States including many other countries. All in all, Pollitt speaks about views of abortion and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Explaining that if murder is serious in the court system in America, even when it is children, where an embryo is considered as one according to those who are anti–abortion. Then terminating a pregnancy is called to be killing a child, so should it be considered as murder then? Basically where women would be imprisoned for a crime, they have committed. Creating prisons to be populated with females where in a political point of view looks to be an outrageous act to enforce. But, it is considered that women does not have a clear conscience in making a choice for the child. Stating that an unplanned pregnancy while in school, having too many kids, health issues or being in a inadequate relationship where the woman is trying to terminate the pregnancy is a choice she does not know what is best. Moreover, Pollitt uses evidence of abortion cases where they went after women since anti–abortions says that the law has not before Roe v. Wade. As a result, it has been known back in the day women involuntarily stayed pregnant by order. If the woman did not want to follow 'the rules' then she can look for illegal medical help. Resulting in an investigation by the authorities and going to court. Following that, Pollitt mentions a case in Indiana that occurred not to long ago where a woman named Purvi Patel, did an illegal self–abortion, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. The Controversial Issue Of Abortion Today, people have the right to voice their thoughts regarding a topic, rather they're different or alike, creating a new philosophy about it, or supporting the traditional belief. In regards to the topic, Abortion has been a subject of controversial matters. Some believing they have the right to do such an act while others would absolutely disagree. Before supporting such an act or not, we typically take into consideration the goods and bads of the action first. While taking a life might be one of the more foreseeable cons of the act, there are good outcomes as–well. Such as, not having said child endure hardship during their life. That child being the difference between a mother having the means to support herself or not. Lastly, that child doesn 't have to suffer more due to the condition of that unprepared parent. No child should be brought into this world only to live a short life and meet the same fate as they would have if they have been aborted. On the other hand, I side with those who agree. Not to be referred to as a "baby killer" but as someone who has an idea of the consequences of copulation, rather it 's intended or in some cases unintended. As stated by Dorothy Fadiman in the magazine article "When abortion was illegal" "We are at a juncture in human evolution, where we either must allow individuals to create appropriate alternatives within their own lives and communities, or we 're going to destroy ourselves."(Fadimen par.10) In other words, outcomes we ... • 7. The Controversial Issue Of Euthanasia Euthanasia For a long time, euthanasia has been a controversial issue in countries all around the globe. However, with active technological progress, this topic becomes more urgent than 50 years ago. Undoubtedly, it is influenced by many factors. One of the leading debatable points is the invention and improvement of artificial life support devices. It is impossible to overestimate the importance of this theme as it is related to the most important value of each person – their life and lives of their loved ones. Moreover, it is a morally difficult moment to highlight such an issue in a society with the help of specialists of various profiles: doctors, psychologists, priests, and lawyers. Thus, euthanasia is still a taboo that causes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Similarly, euthanasia means the facilitating the onset of death and the cessation of the suffering of terminally ill patients (with their consent or with the consent of relatives or guardians). In jurisprudence, it is the satisfaction of the request of an incurably diseased patient about the accomplishment of his death. This concept applies not only to people but also to animals, for whose life the owners are responsible. However, these definitions still do not give a complete picture of the concept of euthanasia as none of them includes all possible situations of application of this method. To unify this concept, it is necessary to mean the deliberate actions of a medical worker with regard to ask of a patient or his official deputies to stop physical or mental suffering, that is, life. There are two types of euthanasia. First of all, it can be divided into voluntary and involuntary methods. In the first case, a mercy killing is a specific request of a capable patient. This means that it is a balanced decision of an adequate person that is based on the own desire and values. Involuntary euthanasia is committed with an incapacitated patient in accordance with the decision of relatives. Such a person is in an inadequate state and cannot express strong consent or disagreement. For example, a patient has a serious mental illness or he is on artificial life support devices. Also, euthanasia ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Positive Controversial Issues Positive Controversial Issues American model and actress Carre Otis once said, "Exposing any subject that is argumentative means risking judgement, but these are the topics that need to be talked about the most." She, and many others like myself, believe that a copious amount of controversial matters need to be resolved by public discussion. Quite a few of these subjects have a more positive effect in the United States when they are foregone. Currently some of the most talked about issues are the right to have an abortion, the legalization of gay marriage, and the rights that gun owners have. These topics may be disputable, but if people are fully informed they can see the obvious positive outcomes that these matters create. A topic that is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second amendment in the Bill of Rights protects the right of any person in the United States, who is over 18, to own a gun. The second amendment was passed in December 15, 1791, and states that it is "the right of the people to bear arms," which mean that since the formation of America as a country the citizens have been able to own weaponry. Legally, in 2016, any person is allowed to own to own a gun if they have a permit, which in fact is already a law that makes it so weapons cannot be wielded without limits. The leisure activity of hunting and the act of having a form of self defense harder or even impossible to do. Guns are used in sports, meaning 32% of gun owners hunt and 7% use guns to target shoot. 79% of male gun owners and 80% of female gun owners have guns in order to create a sense of security and safety. Since it's clear that past gun control laws in other countries have failed it is more effective to educate people about guns instead of banning them. Mexico has the strictest gun laws in the world, but in 2012, they had 11,309 gun murders. • 11. Abortion : A Controversial Issue Abortion is a very controversial issue. To first start out abortion is the deliberate termination of a woman's pregnancy, most often performed within the first 22 weeks of pregnancy. People can either be pro–choice or pro–life for abortion. Being pro–choice means that people believe that it is a woman's choice to get an abortion if they want one. Pro–life means people believe no matter what if a woman is pregnant they should have the baby; no abortion. I intent to explain why women who get pregnant should have the right to get an abortion, if they so choose to. Abortion has had a very long history. Women were getting abortions before they were even legal. Abortions in 1800's weren't as safe, but women were still getting them. Abortion was illegal in the United States, but certain states made abortion legal, to save the health of the mother. The laws for abortion depending on the state, which each state had different. In 1970 Alaska, Hawaii, New York, and Washington liberalize abortion laws. Which made abortion available at the request of a woman and her doctor. But now in 2015 all states allow abortions but each state has different laws on it. Example in Ohio to have an abortion it has to be by a licensed physician, public funds limited to life endangerment, rape, and incest, and parental involvement required for minors, parents must give consent. That's only some of the laws, but in other states they are a lot more stick. Woman have the right to an abortion if they so ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. The Controversial Issue Of Abortion Soon the Supreme Court will hear the most controversial abortion case they have in a decade. The 2013 Texas House Bill 3994, was challenged due to indications that it may be unconstitutional and violate the "Undue Burden Clause" in the US Constitution, which states that a law cannot be restrictive or burdensome of one's fundamental rights as a human and US citizen. With roughly half of the total 41 clinics closing after the law passed in 2013, women are now waiting longer and paying more for abortions (Goodnough, 2016). The Law, which went into effect January of this year, requires doctors to have admitting privileges at a hospital within 30 miles of the clinic and mandates that all clinics must be considered ambulatory surgical centers, meaning more equipment and higher costs (Hoffman, 2016). Those advocating for the law say they are only looking out for the safety of women. This statement stems from Kermit Gosnell, a Philadelphia doctor who was convicted in 2010 and charged with murder in 2013. The charges were the result of involuntary manslaughter in the case of a late–term abortion at a clinic that had not been inspected in 16 years. This new law hopes to combat such tragedies by requiring admitting privileges at local hospitals. Through the extensive process, unqualified doctors would be identified and those fit would be reviewed regularly (Hoffman, 2016). Unfortunately, this law appears to be somewhat unnecessary and burdensome. The new requirements put stress on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. The Controversial Issue Of Abortions As girls reach a certain age, they hit puberty and their bodies start to change. Mentally, their hormones, attitudes and perspectives on life start to differ. Physically, they start to grow in places that are visible to the human eye, but they also start to develop in places that we cannot see by just looking at them. This includes their reproductive system, which worldwide has caused many controversial issues that will be further looked upon throughout this paper. When the word "Abortion" is heard, a heated argument often arises between couples, families, governments, and most commonly throughout women's minds around the world. Over the past hundred years, the topic of abortions has been an ongoing issue. Many people agree to this practice, while others see it as completely absurd. In the past, present and most likely into the future, women have very little say in deciding whether to have an abortion or to have a baby. For many women, rape is a major issue. Without a choice, in most commonly a life or death situation, women are raped and impregnated by the man who raped them. In cases like this, the majority of women are not financially stable to have a child, nor are they physically or mentally prepared for the life they have ahead. This is when the discussion of abortion comes into place and the controversial argument begins. In Canada in 1892, parliament passed a criminal code that stated the prohibition of abortions as well as the sale, distribution and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Prostitution Is A Controversial Issue Prostitution is a controversial issue that has been around since the beginning of time and has recently became a major problem in today's society. Prostitution is defined as the practice or occupation of engaging in sexual activity with someone for payment. Prostitution is often times referred to as "the oldest profession in the business". It is prohibited in several countries, the United States included, though in some countries it is accepted and is legal in many others. Today, prostitution is so controversial because of the number of youth involved in it. Those who oppose prostitution are against it because it endangers a big portion of women with diseases and can also be considered as a form of slavery. Due to the fact that prostitution increases the risk of sexually transmitted diseases, or STDs, while also destroying the image of areas it has heavily polluted, along with the morality of the women involved in it, it is seen as a practice that needs to be done away with, or mandated by the government. Prostitutes solicit their bodies and sex to 'johns,' the common name for men who take pleasure in the company of prostitutes. Johns are textually defined as men not only willing, but wanting to engage in sexual activities with prostitutes in exchange for money. The johns are willing to pay various amounts of money in order to receive sexual pleasure and entertainment in different forms. They often engage in these activities with them without regard to their own health or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. Abortion : A Controversial Issue Abortion Abortion by definition is a deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy. This is a very controversial issue because many opinions arise about whether or not a child is to be considered alive at a certain point in the pregnancy, as well as the reasoning behind a mothers decision for killing her unborn child. The ethical beliefs of this issue could be based strictly political, religiously, or a combination of both depending on one's view. More than 40 million abortions are performed worldwide each year. If you want to break it down by according to the U.S, statistics showed that 1.2 million abortions were performed in the year 2008 alone. According to Www.guttmacher.org, The abortion rate was about 20 per every 1,000 women aged 15–44. The two primary positions on the matter are either Pro–Life (against abortion) or Pro–Choice (for abortion). However, it seems to be not so simple. Some believe that abortion is permitted under certain circumstances such as: rape, incest, or perhaps if the baby is deformed. Some will claim that Pro–Life means that there are some instances where it is morally wrong to kill an unborn infant, but others will argue that Pro–Choice means that there are some instances where it is morally wrong to kill an unborn infant. So is either position completely for or against abortion? As you can see, this issue is extremely controversial. However, as these opinions stand, there are still ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. Controversial Issues In America Donald Trump America's president elect has done and said several controversial statements throughout the duration of the presidential race. Some of the issues or topics that were controversial was immigration, feminism, and employment. Donald Trump believes that immigrants should not be allowed to be apart of the country he has said unbelievably disgusting things about Mexicans. One of the controversial things he said pertaining to Mexicans was they are dangerous criminals and drug dealers that is basically up to no good and they are coming here to "steal our jobs" he also discussed building a wall to block out the immigrants specifically the Mexicans. Planned parenthood has the tools and resources to keep women safe and he decided that he wants to cut the funding out because in his opinion women should not be having abortions and some other uncomfortable statements were said and being a women of color it is offensive to have someone show no respect towards women along with the unwanted suggestion of the decisions women should make with their bodies. Trump also tries to conform women not based on their intelligence but on their looks as if there are nothing more to women then just their assets. • 23. Abortion: a Controversial Issue Abortion: A Controversial Issue One of the major controversial issues confronting the society today is abortion. I choose abortion as the topic of discussion since it contradicts my values and beliefs. Abortion is the extraction of the human fetus from the mother's womb with an intention to end the life of that fetus prior to its natural birth. The controversy surrounding abortion is whether it should be legalized or not? In my opinion, abortion is morally and ethically wrong because it leads to violation of human rights. Life is precious and only it's Creator has the right to take it away. I chose this issue for discussion to bring to light many of the hidden facts and arguments, of which people are unaware and not very sensitive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The wide agreement amongst men and women on this issue shows that bitterness in political debate can be overcome by compassion, protection and the power of conscience. Abortion is immoral not only scientifically, but also through a religious perspective. People thoughts, actions and their behavior are usually governed by their religious beliefs. Pro–life arguments are rooted in America's heritage of respect for god as our creator and the source of our rights. The "Holy Bible" that is a symbol of hope to most of the religions in America, is in opposition to abortion. Pope John Paul II, who has been the leader of the world's Roman Catholics for 25 years, disapproves of birth control and abortion. His preaching is based on the Bible which says that:– 1. Human life is unique in that God created us in His image. 2. Pre–natal human life is fully human and thus precious to God. 3. The Bible forbids us from shedding innocent blood. Thus, in accordance to the Bible, killing is wrong. Therefore, supporting somebody else do it is equally sinful as doing the sin yourself. The issue of abortion is not only limited to pro–life and pro– choice debates but is also adding fuel to the growth of the "Dead Baby Industry," which is rapidly growing with the trade in tissues from aborted children. In this industry, plentiful aborted fetuses are being dissected alive, harvested and sold in pieces. Since abortion was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 25. Controversial Issues in Archaelogy Indiana Jones is a renowned character in today's media. He is portrayed as a fearless fedora–wearing archaeologist, and his goal is to collect artifacts and preserve them in museums. While the field of archaeology is exciting, and the idea of partaking in perilous adventures may seem alluring, the archaeologist was depicted in an incorrect manner. An archaeologist is someone who studies human history through the excavation of sites and the examination of artifacts. Archaeologists study the past to learn more about the lives and cultures of people before. The science of archaeology is a relatively new and quickly growing field; yet, as expected with science, numerous ethical and controversial issues have emerged. The history of archaeology plays an important role in the controversial issues surrounding the science. Archaeology has only recently become a concrete science. Although mankind has always had an interest in the past, the root of archaeology is believed to have started in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. During this time period, artifacts were mainly sought after for collecting. The upper class of the Renaissance period collected artifacts from places such as Rome and Greece to display in their homes as art. • 27. Abortion : A Controversial Issue Abortion is a controversial issue in many countries all the time and there are always two sides of abortion. Pro–life supporters believe that abortion is immoral, so they argue that it should be illegal because an unborn baby is life. However, they do not figure out that woman who is on the inevitable situation such as infection, rape, or extreme poverty would still have the abortion even though the abortion is illegal. Many women die due to unsafe abortion, which is illegal and performed by uneducated people. Therefore, the abortion should be legal to protect the life of 'alive women' because women's life is equal to human's right. I would like to provide more affirmative bases to support abortion in this paper. Women have right to control their own bodies and decisions. As human free will, women can determine their decision for their future. It is sometimes inevitable to maintain their lifestyle that they have before they become pregnant. Although pregnant is the responsibility of both, woman and man, as a result of having sex, women should give up their career or study because pregnancy and childbirth are not as easy at all as just people generally think. Furthermore, women who have the abortion are in difficult condition, which is the unwanted. The Guttmacher institute research said that unintended or unplanned pregnancies were 41 percent of national pregnancies (Abortion Worldwide: A Decade of Uneven Progress). • 29. A Controversial Issue Of Pi A controversial issue for this book would definitely be the religion. Pi's mother and father found it totally absurd to have more than one religion, and contradicting ones at that. As did the pandit, the priest, and the imam. In the book, there is a three–page long argument between the priest, the imam, the pandit, and Pi's parents all claiming the other is mistaken and that Pi is a Muslim or a Hindu or a Christian. Pi blurts out, "Bapu Gandhi said, 'All religions are true.' I just want to love God," (Martel 69). Another controversial issue dealing with Life of Pi that is not necessarily in the book but rather dealing with people who have read the book. Many people believe the story Pi tells about being at sea with the animals is truth, while others believe it is with people. There have actually been debates on whether or not the people version is true. Which, in the book, it says, "So tell me, since it makes no factual difference to you and you can't prove the question either way, which story do you prefer? Which is the better story, the story with animals or the story without animals?" (Martel 317). It does not actually state which story is the truth, but the reader must make their own inference to piece together what they think. Yann Martel was born June 25, 1963. His parents are civil servants and were of French–Canadian descent. • 31. The Controversial Issue Of Abortion The topic of abortion in the United States has been and remains one of the most controversial issues in western culture and politics. An abortion can be defined as the expulsion of a fetus from the uterus before it can survive on its own. This comprises two major forms of abortion: spontaneous, which is often referred to as a miscarriage or induced abortion, which is the deliberate termination of a pregnancy. The term is commonly used to refer to the induced abortion, and this is the abortion, which has been filled with controversy. The sides involved in the debate are basically divided by party lines, generally with liberals as "pro–choice" and conservatives as "pro–life." Behind the battles are divergent views on when human life begins, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the contrary, some mainline Protestant denominations such as the United Church of Christ, Methodist Church, and the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, to name a few, are more permissive of women's reproductive rights. As with society as a whole, Christians are divided on the issue of abortion and have beliefs ranging from the extreme pro–life to the extreme pro–choice position. This means that perception and focus are the main issues in directing people from any faith towards a particular stance on the subject. If an individual decides to focus on one part of the story, then definitely there will be a distorted representation of what they support. The result is that there will be people who are ignorant or neutral on abortion while others choose to support abortions as others oppose the act. Groups' strongly supporting or opposing abortion hold sharply different views on the topic. It is essential to note that an individual may either be a strong supporter or oppose the act since any compromise means a choice of life over death and vice versa. This strange facet of abortion makes it a very controversial subject because both sides of the debate meet nowhere. Personal faiths through religion make them have completely varying opinions on the subject. Pro–life supporters claim that it is unethical to take away an unborn child's life; therefore, abortion at any stage in the pregnancy is murder. They support the constitutional and ... The Controversial Issue Of Abortion Abortion On November 23, 2012, the center for disease control release new abortion statistics for 2009 compared with 2008, the number and rate of reported abortions decreased by 5%. There were an estimated 1.21 million abortions in 2008. You drop the number by 5%, and you still get 1.15 million abortion. The issue of abortion is a very controversial topic anywhere in the world, but in many countries abortion is still legal. Is there a justification for stopping a pregnancy? On the one hand, the prosecution agrees Catherine cannot safely fend for herself. In the words of the prosecution, one of this view's main proponents is Catherine admits "that she's afraid she'll be like her dad (Auburn, 82). The issue is important because Catherine states that her sister "wants me in New York she wants to look after me. Being taking care of, it doesn't sound so bad I'm tired (Auburn, 81). At age twenty–four Catherine lost her father Robert. He was both mentally unstable and incapable of caring for himself. Catherine assumed the responsibilities for her father when he became seriously ill. She dropped out of school and lived at home to take care of her father. Catherine's father had passed away and since his death, Catherine has become mentally unstable herself. The prosecution believes the death of Robert has traumatized Catherine and is severely affecting her well–being. Depending on one's upbringing and mentality, individuals have formed their own personal opinions and have taken sides either to support or to oppose the issue. Homosexuality throughout the years has sparked so much controversy that it was brought to the United States Supreme Court, which is known to be the highest court in America. It is up to the justices of the court to determine how states and society will view and treat homosexuals. Especially considering gay marriage, whether individuals will support or oppose same sex marriage. However, before same–sex marriage was recognized and states legalized it all across the country. Initially the issue of homosexuality gradually escalated, causing states to reconsider and derailed from the fourteenth amendment, which acknowledges equal protection and due process to the laws under the constitution. Some states decided to take action into their own hands by addressing the issue of homosexuality, by banning and refusing to recognize it as a legitimate union. A state in particular, Texas has enacted legislation such as, "Homosexual Conduct Law" which criminalizes individuals who practice homosexuality. • 41. The Controversial Issue Of Abortion Abortion is one of the most controversial topics in today's world. With the evolving moral standards of society, abortion is becoming more and more justified. Abortion is the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first twenty–eight weeks of pregnancy. People don't seem to realize that abortion can ultimately have the best overall consequences. This topic should be viewed from a consequentialist view, or from the moral worth depending on the positive or negative value of the consequences. The choice of abortion doesn't matter as much as the consequences of the choice itself. While some consider abortion murder, others believe it as saving a life. It can save a mother from an unwanted pregnancy and it can save a child from an unwanted future. A woman has the right to choose abortion if they believe it is necessary and dispose freely of their own body. I will begin by arguing that abortion can have the best overall consequence when a mother and a child's future is uncertain. A child shouldn't be put through a rough childhood if the mother is aware of harsh living conditions or not being able to physically, mentally or economically support a child. For instance, if a woman was raped, the mother would be unable to raise a child because of the emotional pain caused by the rape, and the child would just be a constant reminder of what happened which can lead to abuse of the child. Or let us say that the woman is in an abusive relationship with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, an even bigger issue that has been on the front lines regarding those who have made the decision to breastfeed; whether a mother should be free to nurse their children wherever they choose or be forced to nurse their children in private. Many seem to have an opinion on the matter, which makes this a hot button topic for many. Interestingly enough, this surprises me, considering that breastfeeding is not a new concept, but has been around since the beginning of time. It does seem that women have embraced breastfeeding more for whatever reason, and are a lot more comfortable with nursing their children out in public. "American mothers who breastfeed after birth number about 64%. By the time six months rolls around that number plummets to 29%. Could this drop in breastfeeding be blamed on the negative reactions that women encounter from the public and their families?" (Ephraim, RD, CCN, 2006. para.8). There was a time in history when women were much more discreet about our bodies, but it seems that we are way past that time. Apparently this became more evident during World War II. • 47. The Controversial Issue Of Euthanasia Euthanasia should not be legalised in Australia. Good morning 10C and Ms Leoni, Today I am here to talk about the controversial issue of euthanasia. This year, the Greens party has planned to introduce a 'Rights of the Terminally Ill' bill into state parliament. This has raised the issue of whether or not euthanasia should be legalised in Australia. Euthanasia is the practice of ending a person's life in order to release them from an incurable disease or intolerable suffering. There are two types of euthanasia: voluntary and involuntary. Voluntary euthanasia occurs upon request and involuntary euthanasia refers to ending the life of a person who is not mentally competent, such as a comatose patient, or hastening the death of someone who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The biggest concern is what is known as 'the slippery slope'. What I'm basically trying to say is that voluntary euthanasia will inevitably lead to involuntary euthanasia. The Dutch experience is a perfect example of this. In Holland, where euthanasia is legal, it was found that in 1990, 52 per cent of the 10,588 cases of a doctor's intent to hasten death were done with no explicit request from the patient. According to the Remmelink Report, an official Dutch government survey of euthanasia practices, it was found that more than 1000 patients are involuntarily euthanized each year. This proves that there really can be no safeguards in legalised euthanasia. If you are elderly and at death's door in a hospital short of beds, would euthanasia be a good enough excuse if your vulnerability was taken advantage of? We all need to understand that no proposal has ever been devised which can be guaranteed not to be abused. It seems that abuse is unavoidable since people with bad intentions exist all over the world. So let's learn from the Dutch experience and not let this happen in Australia. It is widely believed by many that if a person is willing to die, then it is their own choice and they should be given the right to do so. However, they fail to understand that one's 'willingness' could in fact be their anxiety and fear of becoming a burden on others, which drives them to make some extremely tough decisions under ... • 49. The Controversial Issue Of Euthanasia In discussions of terminal illness, one controversial issue has been the legalization of euthanasia. On one hand, people contend that they should have the right to choose to die painlessly. On the other hand, skeptics argue that patients with a terminal illness should let nature run its course. Others even maintain that it devalues life. My own view is that people should have the right to choose assisted suicide. Euthanasia is the act or practice of killing or permitting the death of hopelessly sick or injured individuals in a relatively painless way for reasons of mercy. There are many forms of euthanasia that are allowed in a few states as long as the legal restrictions are met. To be voluntarily euthanized, you must be suffering from a terminal illness that can't be cured or if the patient has a very low chance of surviving treatment for their illness. If a terminally ill patient expressed to be euthanized at a competence state prior to an incompetence state then others can decide to end his life on good terms because they know that is what they would've wanted. Many lives could be laid to rest peacefully and painlessly, that is if the law allowed terminally ill patients to do so everywhere. Euthanasia is legal in quite a few countries regarding some restrictions. Euthanasia is legal in Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg. Different restriction policies of euthanasia apply to the assisted suicide policies that are legal in countries such as Albania, Colombia, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Immediately after reading the title of this article thoughts began to roll into my head about the views that schools take when discussing political topics. Teachers are told all the time to keep their political views to themselves, in order to allow their students to form their own opinions. A teacher states, "I don't want to abuse that power– and I don't want kids to agree with my views just because I am the teacher" (Hess, 2005, p. 27). Another teacher states "they have the obligation to model the importance of taking a stand on issues" (Hess, 2005, p. 27). I agree with both statements. I think that ... In other words, a teacher either teaches with bias or is unbiased. The four approaches that Hess discusses are defined as denial, avoidance, privilege, and balance. The one that shows no bias is the approach Hess defines as balance. Through this approach, students can form whatever opinion they want, but first they must understand both perspectives to take a firm position on an issue. By understanding both pros and cons of an issue students can advocate their side more effectively. During this year's election at Christ the Lord School in Brookfield students and teachers held a mock election. Students were taught about both candidates and then were to vote for the candidate they thought would make the best president. This is a great way to get students involved in the election process. However, teachers need to remember that age will have an impact on how students think. School age children rely heavily on their parent's opinions as well as other adults such as their teacher. Changing that is a challenge. Therefore, the job of a teacher is not to teach students what to think, but to teach them the procedure and the steps to take to form an ... Controversial Policies : Abortion : A Controversial Issue Mohamed Beheiry Stundent ID: 100163591 English 1302 – fall semester 2016 Controversial Policies: Abortion Abortion is one of the most controversial topics in United States history. According to the Guttmacher Institute, since 1973, roughly 50 million legal induced abortions have been performed in the United States" (Guttmacher). There are many reasons why women choose to abort their child; they cannot afford a baby, they are too young, they have been raped, they have been pressured by family to go through with the operation, etc. However, regardless of these reasons, there is still a huge part of the population that is very strongly opinionated about being anti– abortion. Abortion is the termination of pregnancy by the removal or expulsion from the uterus of a fetus or embryo before viability. Abortion, when induced in the developed world in accordance with local law, is among the safest procedures in medicine. However, unsafe abortions result in approximately 47,000 maternal deaths and 5 million hospital admissions per year globally. An estimated 44 million abortions are performed globally each year, with slightly under half of those performed unsafely. Abortion Is A Controversial Issue Abortion is a controversial subject for many Canadians despite the fact that it's a procedure that has been effectively decriminalized in the country since 1969. There are approximately 100,000 abortions performed every year though that number has continued to dwindle every year for the past two decades. The research this proposal is looking to conduct is on the lack of abortion clinics available in the rural areas of Canada in particular as well as the constant risk of defunding of existing clinics throughout the country. In this proposal, we will not only set out to establish the history of abortion here in Canada but seek to provide enough reason in order to seek funding to pursue the collecting of data from medical institutions in all ten provinces. This paper will serve to set the argument of why abortion has been a controversial subject as well to make the argument that it is a right for every Canadian woman to have ready access to an abortion clinic – irrelevant of where she was born in the country. • 59. The Controversial Issues Of Abortion One of the most highly controversial issues plaguing our country today is that of abortion. This debate arose in the mid–to–late 1800's when states began passing laws to make abortion illegal ("History of Abortion"). Although each law varied from state–to–state, the reason for making it illegal seemed to be similar: All surgical procedures, including abortion, were risky and hospitals and well–practiced doctors were not common in most areas. Back–alley abortions (illegal abortions) were very common during this time. Even when the scientific methods and technology became more advanced, women were still getting unsafe abortions. It wasn't until the Roe v. Wade debate in 1973 that women were able to get a safe, legal abortion from a well–trained medical professional. It also ruled that women had their right to privacy, and it was the women's right to decide whether or not she would have children. There have been many restrictions and guidelines put on abortion such as parental involvement, mandatory waiting periods, and biased counseling. As of right now, abortion is legal. Abortion should remain legal because of the following issues child–bearing women can potentially face: medical issues, safety concerns, and rape/incest situations. Women considering abortion may be undergoing this procedure due to very serious medical issues, either with the child or themselves. A common, fatal condition in children where most women choose to terminate their pregnancy is Trisomy 18. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Abortion is a very controversial issue in the United States and all across the globe. First, I will discuss the different types of abortion. Next, I will explain when the abortions are performed. Then, I will share some of the laws regarding abortion in the United States. Finally, I will express my views on abortion. Abortion should be illegal in all states. First, I will discuss the various types of abortion. There are three common types of legal abortion existent in the United States today─the abortion pill, aspiration, and dilation and evacuation. The abortion pill is often called medication abortion, but its scientific name is mifepristone. The first step for this is to have a physical examination by a doctor, and then the health care provider can give the pill that works by stopping the hormone progesterone, which causes the lining of the uterus to break down. Along with the abortion pill itself, antibiotics are received from the health care provider. A second medication, misoprostol, is taken 24 to 48 hours after the abortion pill to empty the uterus. Two weeks later, a follow up examination will take place to confirm that the abortion was successful and that the woman is healthy (Planned Parenthood). • 67. The Controversial Issue Of Abortion Abortion. The subject of abortion has become one of the most controversial issues in health care; deciding whether to abort a life or keep it. There are many ethical issues surrounding the topic. When does the fetus become a person? Is it when they grow arms and legs? Is it when there is a heartbeat? Is there an exact point, where ethically, having an abortion is wrong? There are many reasons people opt to have an abortion. Perhaps the child is bared through non consensual sex or from the failure of birth control. It is considered acceptable under those circumstances to end a life mostly because it's a life that wasn't exactly wanted in the first place, but is it acceptable for a child 's life to end when the parents discover their child has a genetic disorder? Now, through genetic testing, parents can see if their child has a genetic disorder before their child is even born, and many parents consider or even opt to abort their child due to the discovery of a disability. In The Globe and Mail, Ian Brown writes an interesting article on the controversial issue of abortion and genetic testing through his personal experience with his son Walker. In I'm glad I never had to decide whether my strange, lonely boy ought to exist, Ian brown describes his personal experience with his son who has an extremely rare genetic disorder, cardiofaciocutaneous syndrome. He explains the trials and tribulations of having a son with a rare disability and the ethical debate surrounding whether ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 69. Discrimination Such A Controversial Issue What is discrimination and why is it such an issue? Discrimination is something that is a major problem that mainly deals with race, religion, and gender. Over the years discrimination has improved, but it is still a controversial topic. Discrimination mainly originated from slavery and other physical characteristics. Past history has made everyone now refer back to that when in reality it has nothing to do with their race. It was an awful thing that African Americans had to go through, but our society is more accepting now. There are still some people that are racist and discriminate against African Americans, but as a whole it has gotten much better. Not only do people discriminate against race, but also ... • 71. The Controversial Issue Of Abortion The Controversial Issue of Abortion According to Different Faiths The American Heritage Medical Dictionary defines abortion as the "induced termination of a pregnancy with destruction of the embryo or fetus." A study conducted by Planned Parenthood found that three out of every ten women over the age of forty–five, have had an abortion. Terminating a pregnancy by abortion catalyzes many disagreements on whether a woman is destroying a human life or not. This type of controversy that follows abortion affects almost every field it touches, including politics. Evidently, this often forces women to choose between their personal preferences and religious beliefs. This ongoing issue still presents many reasons that drive the adherents of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Catholic's are certain that these liberties are a natural God given right that cannot be taken away from an unborn fetus. In the argument involving abortions the Catechism claims, "God, the Lord of life, has entrusted to men the noble mission of safeguarding life...Life must be protected with the utmost care from the moment of conception: abortion and infanticide are abominable crimes" (The Catechism). To put it another way, God created humans on earth to protect every form of life; from conception until a natural demise, a life has to constantly be nurtured. With that being said, any form of contraception that prevents a life to take place, is considered an unspeakable offense. Sam Harris, an atheist who composed Letter to a Christian Nation, spoke about how essential a human embryo, or blastocyst, is to modern day science. Harris argues that these cells do not have their own minds or neurons yet. He also remarks how they "could offer therapeutic breakthroughs for every disease or injury process that human beings suffer...embryonic stem cells can become any tissue in the human body" (Harris 29). To put it bluntly, Catholic's completely disagree with Harris' statement; the catechism claims, "it is immoral to produce human embryos intended for exploitation as disposable biological material" (The Catechism). Therefore, Catholic's strongly believe that it is completely immoral to terminate an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 73. The Controversial Issue Of Abortion In recent discussions of abortion, the controversial issue has become whether or not women should be given the right to take their unborn child's life away. Many believe in all having the right to live while others believe in the right to be given a choice. Women do not want to be given restrictions, they want to be able to have a voice when making decisions. With abortion women have a hard time making their decision based upon the judgement others make if the decision of abortion is followed through or also finding a place for additional help. Even though abortion is legal, with the belief of unfairness to abort a child, doctors are unwilling to provide their services. Abortion is viewed differently to many but it is determined upon the situation. While I do believe in the right of all humans being able to live, I stand by the right's woman deserve by empowering their own decisions. In many cases women have a difficult time finding someone who is willing to understand their needs or wants. Americans have come quick to judge women if it involves them killing their own child, though not all situations are brought clear. Dr. Willie J. Parker, is one of few who believe in women having rights. Dr. Parker has decided to give woman a chance to abort their child because of the understanding of his job. When returning to his hometown to perform abortions, he states "If there is an outbreak and you have the ability to relieve suffering, you rush to the site of the need." Which is ... • 75. Abortion : A Controversial Issue Abortion Abortion has been a very controversial issue in the United States for the past several decades. Many people think that is it morally wrong. To say that something is morally wrong is an opinion. Since everyone's opinions are different on this topic there have been many court cases and protests against abortion. However there are a lot of people out there that believe that abortion is a rightful decision. My personal opinion on the abortion controversy is that every woman should have the choice on whether or not they are ready or are capable of raising a baby. Although there are many different choices one can make with regard to whether or not they are ready to raise a child, like adoption, it is still ultimately the woman's decision on what they want to do. Carrying a child is a very stressful and sometimes painful process. There are a lot of financial decisions, health decisions, and future decisions that have to be carefully thought out before becoming a parent. Parenthood is a life–altering step one must take in life, and abortion is one way that a women can postpone or avoid changing their life in a very extreme way. There are many different pros and cons that come along with the abortion debate. One of the reasons that I believe abortion is sometimes necessary is if a women does not have financial stability to raise a child. Raising a child is a very expensive decision to make. A women must be able to provide food, diapers, milk, clothes, a home, and many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
