2. Recall that a Verb has 2 parts
Tenses | Verb Forms
is running
has run
has been running
3. Nouns and Verbs must agree
Noun | Tenses & Verb Forms
David is sleeping.
An alarm is ringing.
David and James have gone out.
Singular verbs end with 's'.
Plural verbs don't.
4. Subject-Verb Agreement (SVA)
Many Nouns (e.g.boys) = Plural Verb (no 's')
Singular Noun (e.g: boy) = Singular Verb
(with 's')
If a verb ends with a 'y', 'es' is added:
Cry – cries / Fly – flies / worry – worries
9. Pronouns & Verbs Agree
You are strong but I have my friend who is
stronger.
Everybody has a hobby.
You and I are special!
You are the person.
I have this.
15. Spellings and verbs agree
The good news is that we have been selected.
The river banks is overflowing.
Physics is not an easy subject for some.
Mathematics is easy once you have enough
practice.
