2. EEG:
Electroencephalography (EEG) is the recording of
electrical activity along the scalp.
The study of EEG signals helps us to diagnose
the psychological state of the brain and even
differentiate various emotions of a person.
The study of EEG signals helps us finding the
mental disorder.
The study of EEG signals also help in various
medical diagnosis like mental seizure and
epilepsy.
3. Classification of EEG Signals:
The brain signals are classified into five
different categories according to their frequencies:
Band Frequency
(Hz)
Represented status
Delta < 4 Slow-wave sleep
Theta 4 – 7 Inhibition of excited responses
Alpha 8 – 15 Relaxed, Inhibition control
Beta 16-31 Anxious, active thinking, focus, high alert
Gamma > 32 Cross-modal sensory perception
6. Applications
• The application of this project is in
psychological diagnosis of a person in order to
determine any abnormalities in the brain
functions so that necessary steps can be taken
before any serious mental health issue arises.

8. Literature Review:
Richard Caton: 1875 A.D
discovered electrical activities the brain of rabbits and monkeys .
Napolean Cybulski and Jelenska-Macieszyna : 1914 A.D.
discovered electrical activities of the exposed cerebral
hemispheres of the brain of rabbits and monkeys.
Hans Berger : 1924 A.D.
the first ever EEG machine
accredited to have invented Electroencephalogram.
William Grey Walter : 1950 A.D.
invented EEG topography, that helped the mapping of electrical
activity of the brain across the scalp.
2004:
Open EEG released open source hardware and software for ball
balancing game.
In 2014, OpenBCI released an Open Source BCI under the name OpenBCI that
has 8-16 channels and uses EKG and EMG alongside EEG
11. Feasibility Analysis:
Project mostly is about processing and analyzing of EEG signals
The source of the signal could be either live test subjects or readily available
data
