Mysterium Short Story
CHAPTER ONE of
Mysterium
One day, we were camping in the woods. We set up camp only in the fringe of the forest, but still surrounded by trees on all sides. It was night,
around midnight, we were telling ghost stories, but it was just me, my friend and his dog, and my grandpa. My grandpa was just starting his story,
"One time, long ago, there was a boy and his dog, wandering the forest here..." here his voice got an eerie tone, which I never heard before, and still
gives me the chills today, and he continued talking. "The dog heard a noise, like a twig snapping, and ran, the boy tried to chase his ferret, but ran
head long into a strange fox, red eyes, black fur, and the boy wasn't seen again. The dog, unaware of what happened, returned home, the fox is said
to be still around this forest somewhere," a pack of wolves howled in the distance, giving me goose bumps, my friend scooted closer to his pet, a
green and white cat, uneasy. Suddenly, I saw a black shape moving in the darkness outside of the fire light, it looked at me, red eyes flashing in the
light of the fire, and then disappeared into the dark forest. Grandpa was saying we should get some sleep, but I was too nervous to sleep from the
image of those eyes fresh in my memory, so I stayed up most of the night reading and thinking about what I saw, until I fell asleep, book open next to
me. The next morning I exited the small two person tent. It had me, my friend, and his cat, all in one tent; it got cramped in the

Role Expectations: Out In The Night By Nikki Jones
There are mainstream role expectations that our society deems fit for every individual. When individuals don't follow what society sees as the norm it
can cause tension. The use of Nikki Jones' book, between good and Ghetto: African American Girls and Inner City Violence helps depict the reality of
black women and violence in inner cities. Examining this text and applying it to the film Out in the Night can start to show how the medias depiction
of the women in Out in the Night heavily relies on the hetero–normative narratives that many people hold in today's society, instead of the harsh reality
that is seen throughout Jones's book. The use of intersectionality and role expectations play a huge role in how these young women are treated

Being excluded forced them to find other individuals that are similar to them so that they could be open about their true identity with the
knowledge that they are in a secure environment. In the film Out in the Night (2014), the young women were walking down a street a man
catcalled to one of the girls, fulfilling a gendered role that society sees as normal, or enduring. When the girls explained they were lesbian,
violating their role expectations, the man started using explicit and derogatory language toward them about their race and sexuality. The women
used violence for their protection, and to assert a position in society. The fact that they're black is the reason that the media depicted them as
demonizing individuals. The criminalization of black individuals and more specifically female black individuals shapes the mind of society. The
media twisted the story dehumanizing these women by describing them as a " violent pack of lesbians" (Doroshwalther 2014) like they were a pack
of animals. Not only did the media turn them into animals but it also alluded to the idea that they were acting in a violent manner because they were
black lesbians who were upset that a man hit on them. Instead showing the reality that Jones (2010) shares with us, which is that these girls were left
with no choice, calling the cops and being passive is not how situations are taken care of in their community, if they were to call the cops, people
would have died before the police even got to the

Identity In Night By Elie Wiesel
Sometimes in life we are faced with challenges that threaten our identities. In the book Night by Elie Wiesel his challenge was the holocaust, and
every aspect of his identity changed. He lost his faith, his appearance changed dramatically, and his lost his ability to care about things he loved most.
Elie starts out in pretty good physical condition but that changes throughout the course of Night. In the book Elie is afraid of failing the second
examination after he had been in the work camp so long. (Wiesel pg.71) It's proof his condition must have been worsened because in the beginning
he passed with no problem. Him showing this fear proves he was weakened from starvation and the abuse he faced, so he might not be able to work
much longer. No work meant the ultimate liberation from the bleak and dismal life that was the concentration camps. In the end of the book after the
allied forces liberates Elie he is in a hospital and he looks in the mirror and says "a corpse was looking back contemplating me." (wiesel pg 115) It
provides the fact the he changed enough that he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the story Elie was whipped savagely by the Kapo, and all he can think about is his father. Later in the new camp Elie's father is giving up on life
and Elie tries to make him move. There is an allied air raid and for the first time Elie leave his father.(wiesel pg. 106) This proves he finally gave up
on his father. He started off in the story really caring about his father sacrificing his own safety just so he could stay close to him. After his father
was struck ill in the new camp he gave up on him. In the story Elie wanted to keep his shoes even if that meant he would get tormented even more.
This show he has a very strong will and loves things that give him a glimmer of hope. At the end when his father died he stopped caring and lost all
hope in surviving the

Night Book Critique Night, by Elie Wiesel, is a story about a Jewish boy growing up during World War II. The main character in the book, Eliezer
Wiesel, talks about the different experiences he had during World War II. He started off by talking about how everything was normal, and no one
was too worried about the war that was going on. One man, Moishe the Beadle, was taken off to another country, and when he managed to get back,
he warned everyone what would happened if they did not leave. A few people listened to him, but not Eliezer's parents. A couple years later, when the
war sounded like it was almost over, Germans entered the town that Eliezer's family were living in. After this, the... Show more content on

I would suggest that no one reads the book before they are seniors, maybe juniors, in high school. I would recommend it to students younger, but
some of the stories are slightly too graphic, like the one where the little boy is being hung, but is not heavy enough to die right away so he just
hung there for a while until he finally died. I feel that everyone reads the book because it gives people a better insight into what people experienced
in the camps. I knew that the prisoners had a really rough life in the camps, but this book really opened my eyes to how bad it really was. People
who are planning on being history majors or are going into politics should read this book at least twice. This would be so that they make sure that
something like this does not happen again. Also, more so for the history majors, to teach other people the effects that living in the camps had on
people. One example that really showed the effect of the camp was at the end when Eliezer looked at himself in the mirror and did not recognize
himself. These are the main reasons I would recommend everyone read Night at least

Personal Narrative : My Second Day At The Sun
"Wow, what a beautiful sunset. " everybody said, excited looking at the sunset while being devoured by the ocean. We were all sitting in the cold
wet sand together enjoying the view as a whole family. "We made a great choice coming to the beach before the sun set" said my dad. We all
agreed with him. After looking at the sunset we all went to go eat dinner at a Mexican restaurant because everybody was craving Mexican food. I
ordered a burrito with steak and rice inside. My parents both ordered the same thing as always which was steak fajitas. My cousins also got a burrito
but they got pulled pork burritos. And my brother and sister got flautas which are tacos but they come in a hard–shell tortilla. After we finished eating,
we all headed to my cousin's place to have a small party to celebrate coming to their place and seeing them again. This was the second time seeing
them because The first time we saw them when they came to boulder. Later we all slept at my uncles place, because everybody was really tired and
we didn't want to go find a hotel to stay in.
This was my second day at California. On the 24th of December, we all agreed on going to California for winter break. So, on the 25th of
December in the afternoon after we opened our present, we all started packing everything only for three days. It was about 9:00pm when we went to
sleep because we all wanted my dad to rest so he could drive the whole way. At 7:00 am on December 26th we all started to put things in the

An Analysis Of Elie Wiesel 's ' The Jewish Scriptures '
Set in early 1930's Sighet, Elie Wiesel is expected to do as he is told and continue to further his studies in the Jewish scriptures. Young Elie
becomes intrigued by the vast amount of knowledge he has absorbed over his youthful fifteen years, and determined to verse himself in Kabballah,
a more intense and deeper branch of the holy texts. Going against his father's word, he dives into the water, swimming into depths uncharted by all
Sighet boys his age. One day, in his search for intellect, Wiesel met a man, worn by age, and wised by life. Moishe the Beadle he said he went by.
The two shared a special passion for Kabballah. Upon meeting the Beadle, Elie began to extend his learning. Time progressed until Moishe the
Beadle vanished with no word. Days later he came back in a state quite unexplainably poor. The man was sad and scared out of his mind, but it was
the worry and the concern that had spoken to Elie and the villagers. It was his worrisome and concerned voiced that pleaded everyone to listen. To
heed his advice and run. Run far and wide. Run, and don't stop. Run until they reached a safe haven. The boy cried wolf but the villagers did not seize
to listen, not even once. Little did they know what fate had in store for them. Finally, the monsters and creatures crawled out of the darkness of the
Beadle's "imagination." Impeccably charismatic, and skilled in the field of first impressions, the behemoths won the trust and respect of many of the
people in no time... but it

She Believed in All or Nothing
Everything happened completely unexpectedly. It was all far too fast and quick for to comprehend. The last few days have just been this complete
blur in the mind of sixteen year old Celeste Clancy. It was Thursday, September 15 when it all went down; and if there was one exact detail Celeste
remembered was how fair the weather had been over the sleepy town of Redmeadow. It had been rather overcast much of that morning, but the clouds
made sure to clear up by mid–afternoon before allowing a small breeze to settle over the valley late into the night.
The night. That was another detail she could remember quite clearly. She had always liked the night. The dark sky and cooler temperatures
allowed her to think distinctly. Now after all the events that had recently unfolded, she didn't know how to look at the moon anymore. She always
felt so hollow when she gazed at it like she used to. It was a terrifying thought. Nowadays she could barely face herself in the light of the sun and it
seemed like the moon had decided to abandon her as well. Whether it was because the celestial being was turning its back on her or if it was because
it didn't want anyone else to see her.
Either way it was tragic to feel so alone, so empty. Celeste had felt that way for the past three days. Some people said it was just grief setting in, but
she refused to believe that. It was something more, something much stronger. She had lost family before so she knew the sorrow that came with death
close to her,

What Is The Theme Of The Devil's Wife By Carol Ann Duffy
"The Devil's Wife" by Carol Ann Duffy is a tragic and powerful poem. Written in the form of a dramatic monologue, Duffy adopts the persona of
Myra Hindley, the notorious Moors Murderer. The poem consists of five individually titled sections, each describing an individual part of Hindley's
experiences from meeting Brady to feeling sorry for herself while sitting in her prison cell. At the end of her life. Themes relating to avoiding
responsibility, self–pity and her fear of society's reaction to her crimes are explored as Duffy creates an effective persona.
One way in which an effective persona is created is through Duffy suggesting that Hindley avoiding responsibility for her actions. Straight away, the
persona makes out that Brady possessed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The persona is only concerned with her appearance by saying that "Nobody liked my hair. Nobody liked how I spoke". This emphasises how utterly
egocentric and self–obsessed she was with herself. Duffy implies that the persona is completely unconcerned with the terrible crimes she has
committed and only bothered about how she is seen by others. By suggesting it intensifies the reader's anger, making her out to be a clear
antagonist. The persona makes out that she was treated badly in prison and that she wanted people to feel sympathetic for her. She says, "I was left
to rot." It suggests to the reader that the persona experienced a horrible time in jail and that she deserves pity for that. However, the word choice of
"rot" is ironic as her victims were quite literally left to rot in the moors, again showing that she sees herself as being Brady's victim and reminding the
reader of her crimes. Again, the persona shows her egocentricity by the repeated use of the word "I". It shows us how selfish she is and spends no time
thinking about others, including her victims and is continually complaining about just how much she has suffered, while not addressing about how her
victims and their families have suffered and are still suffering. The final line of this dramatic monologue suggests again shows her self–pity and how
self–absorbed she was right up until

A Short Story : A Story?
It was was a normal night as usual for Phil and his family. Wash up, eat dinner, say a prayer and go to bed. However, the peaceful night would
suddenly devolve into terror at their house. The whole family went to sleep that night and Phil could not fall asleep, so he went to get a glass of
water, his mouth was dry, and proceeded toward the kitchen. He looked at the darknight sky and saw something in the shadows, a bright light.
however he responded to this unusual bright light with a melancholy demeanor. Phil went upstairs and walked into his room and laid back down
on his bed, next to his wife, his children downstairs in their rooms sleeping happily forever. Phil fell asleep, however a few minutes later Phil woke
up struggling to breath, smoke in the air, and heat nearly burning his flesh as the house was engulfed in flames. To most many would react in a
startled manner, however Phil didn't think anything a just remained in bed almost willing to die as he knew his family would die as well. It was
the last worldly gasps of breath that Phil would take as a mortal being. Phil, oddly woke up the next day, however his house was untouched by
flames, and his family was still alive. In normal routine, he ate breakfast, got dressed, put his coat on and went to work in his '67 Chevy Camaro, a
personal vehicle he had owned for a while, but treasured dearly. Phil got in his car and drove on his daily route to work. On the the way to his job,

Forever In Elie Wiesel's Night
Throughout the story Night there has been a theme of nothing last forever. The theme can be used to describe the holocaust and concentration camps in
the novel .The main character experiences this in almost every part of the novel. This theme can be compare to almost anything not just things that
have to do with the novel night.
After nearly two years of desolation, a young boy finally saw the first glimmer of hope on the horizon; the Americans had finally arrived, and the
Nazis were gone and he realize that his pain wasn't going to last forever. In his autobiography Night, Elie Wiesel shares his experiences in
Auschwitz–Birkenau, one of Hitler's concentration camps. Wiesel was one of the Jews to survive the Holocaust during World War II.... Show more

Many Jews who survived the Holocaust were forced to change. From the beatings, starvation, and other physical and emotional tortures, the survivors
would never be the same. Survivors of the Holocaust tell their stories so we all remember that what Hitler did to the Jews was unforgivable and should
never be repeated.
Like Everything about the world the Holocaust and the Jewish people suffering never lasted forever. An example of this is in the start of the novel
Night when the Jews thought that everything was okay and nobody was worried when they were warned about the Nazis. This showed how they had
to find out how nothing lasts forever even peace. Another example of this in the novel is when the Jews had to endure running away from the camp,
but they were liberated soon after fleeing the concentration camp.
For all humans, but especially the most stubborn, one of the most difficult truths to accept is that all seasons pass, all stages come to an end, and that
all living things die. Just as how the Nazis and Hitler had to watch their empire fall in front of them and how the Jews had to leave all their belongings
and houses, we watch hoping that nothing changes and that everything stays the same. What we're resisting is the natural order of things as we hold
tight to a belief that says that all good things must

Analyzing The Documentary 'Out In The Night'
Out in the night is a documentary about how much are the gay people oppressed, and the society is not accepting them, therefore they are struggling
to get accepted, and gain their proper place in the society. And the main problem in the documentary is the assault of a man on a group of lesbians
in New York, so they get arrested for trying to protect and defending themselves, and their struggle to get freedom. After this incident, the media
started to talk and describe it as a gang assault, and started to call them names like "killer lesbians" and "wolf gang", which made the group look like
criminals and murderers, and made the people got the wrong idea about the girls, based in the incorrect stereotypes that the media was spreading

Although the Safe Night out Law aims to reduce alcohol– and drug–related violence in Queensland's nightlife, there is still a high incidence of alcohol
fuelled violence. Examine the effectiveness of the newly amended criminal code and penalty laws within the new safe night out legislation.

''One–punch'' assaults have claimed 90 Australian lives since 2000, mostly in booze–fuelled bashings. The latest figures show that each year as many as
70,000 people are involved in alcohol–related assaults (Brown, 2014). In all, it is estimated that alcohol–related violence costs the community $187
million each year (Livingston, 2008).

Argumentative Essay On National Night Out
I never knew of National Night Out until a couple of weeks ago, when at church, it was mentioned as an excellent opportunity to connect with one's
community. Growing up in a cul–de–sac with a bunch of older couples, my siblings and I were always playing all by ourselves. We were limited by
the absence of other neighborhood kids. I acutely remember the pain of not being able to play with any others, other than my younger siblings. Being
part of a vibrant neighborhood community, however, was not just something that was missing for us, as we lived in a cul–de–sac. The vista of a
neighborhood street filled with children and families on porches in the evenings after dinner is nothing but a scene in a movie today. It is a dream of
bygone times. We as Americans in general live lives wholly disconnected from those that live around us. We stay inside, when we're home, and then
abscond into our cars as we drive away to work each day. Our interactions with our neighbors is kept to a minimum. National Night Out, which is today,
August 1, is an annual community–building campaign that promotes police–community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our
neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live, for it is known that the lack of a true sense of community weakens the local economy, isn't conducive
to a healthy environment, and breeds disrespect among peoples – urban planning and smart neighborhood development are not only good for the
environment, despite such

The Fears Of Fear : Fear Of Darkness
I've always had fears in the back of my mind but as I've got older I have come realize that they were childish and silly thoughts that stopped me from
achieving big things. The first fear I had was Nycophobia or in other words the fear of darkness. I could distinctly remember when I could see
shadows on the wall which in my mind were monsters, ghosts.
The fear of darkness is a common phobia to have but to me it was more than just a fear it was an integral part of my life. Most young children can go
to bed and fall asleep without any hassle, however in my case going to bed was like being sent to death. There I would lay on my bed in a dark
room when I would see a shadow zoom past the wall causing me to scream like a little girl, it was embarrassing. Then again, this was only one of the
encounters I had with 'spirit world' but there was one encounter and this was the worst of all, it was that scary it could frighten a grown man. And it all
started at my little old grans house.
My granny's house lay on a narrow street next to the graveyard which really spooked me out, however I did have my granny to look after me, right?
No, instead of sleeping in my grans nice cosy bedroom that night I had to sleep downstairs on my own in my uncle's old room. This room was the
complete opposite of my grans it was a cold and smelly old room which was almost non liveable. Despite this, I did have a huge double bed all to
myself. I arrived and I was dreading it, it is not normal to leave a 5

Persuasive Speech
Many people feel a bit sad after their big day is over. Honeymoons are what couples can look forward to curing their post–wedding blues. They are
supposed to be a way to spend some time with your new spouse before having to return to the responsibilities of life. They should have a healthy mix
of fun, relaxation, and intimacy. Here are some things you can do on your honeymoon to keep things fresh and romantic your entire trip.
Couples massage
Everyone knows that weddings can be super stressful. Add some jetlag and a stiff back and you are going to really need something to take away
your tension when you arrive at your destination. Getting a soothing massage can be a super peaceful way to unwind and relax with your new
spouse. This can also give you two some time to talk about your day and what you are excited to be doing later. It can be a great way to set the mood
for your entire trip.
Unplug With Nature
Nothing says romance like curling up on the porch with your new spouse and watching the sunset, but you shouldn't stop there. Take a few hours to
disconnect from all the stress and responsibilities waiting for you at home. Turn off your cell phone and sink into the beauty of the nature around
you. Go for a long walk with your spouse and when you come back lay down and listen to the crickets chirping. By the end of the day, you will not
only feel closer to your spouse but also to nature.
Go to dinner
No matter where you choose to honeymoon, you are going to want to set

Night Reflection
William Shakespeare once said, "Some rise by sin, and some by virtue fall". In the same way, people who go through life–changing events will either
be overthrown by the world's sin, or they will overcome it like a militia conquering another country. For example, in the book Night by Elie Wiesel,
he states, "But now, I no longer pleaded for anything. I was no longer able to lament. On the contrary, I felt very strong. I was the accuser, God the
accused. My eyes had opened and I was alone, terribly alone in a world without God, without man. I was nothing but ashes now, but I felt myself to be
stronger than this Almighty to whom my life had been bound for so long..." (68). Henceforth, throughout the book Night, the main character, Elie, is
changed drastically by his near–death experiences in Auschwitz.
Body Paragraph 1:
Before Elie was taken away to Auschwitz, he shows many different character traits, such as spirituality, faithfulness, and a sense of understanding.
E– First, Elie's spirituality is shown on page 8 of Night, when he states, "I continued to devote myself to my studies. Talmud during the day and

R– Elie feels that he should study Jewish rituals because he wants to be closer to God. I think this tells the reader that Elie is faithful in his religion
and faithful to God. If he hadn't chose to study this, then he wouldn't have learned anything about his faith and he wouldn't be seen by others as spiritual.

The Night Sky
It was a dark and stormy night, the wind blows as the ghostly moonlight filled the darkness. George the highwayman made his way toward Bess
the innkeeper's daughter. She was gazing out the window when the two of their eyes met. Hers, black as the night sky, and a dark red love knot
placed on her hair. A red dress made of the fabric silk. Her hair was a dark brown, but could have been mistaken as black. Her outfit fit her
personality as much as it did the highwayman. I hope he loves poetry. Bess thought. He rides toward her on his horse dressed in a fancy cloak
colored velvet, with a curled white wig and doe brown skin, lace wrapped around his chin, and the most beautiful brown eyes anyone had ever seen.

Suddenly, George pulled out his pistol and shot at the redcoat closest to him.
"How does a silver bullet feel in your gut." George squaked. Then the second redcoat came up and cried,
"I wouldn't know, you didn't hit me!" The two remaining redcoats chased after George for as long as they could.
"Yip yip," George tells his horse with a calm voice, "try and catch me, and I will give up my fortune to you." The redcoats continue to play in
George's game. The redcoats sped up and suddenly called,
"Highwayman, slow down or force will be a factor of this chase." George wittingly says,
"Ok, if we have to!" George shoots the third redcoat. Now only one redcoat remains. The last red coat shrills at George, " Alas, it is the end for you."
The redcoat pulls out his weapon and shoots for the highwayman's head. "You missed," George implies angrily, "and you shot my hat."
George whips out his sword and turns around toward the red coat. He takes his head with one clean swipe of the blade. By the time George finds
the perfect gift, it is already nighttime. He has no idea the other redcoats are tracking down Bess while he is still riding back to her. They raid the
inn and drink all the ale. The redcoats quickly make their way to Bess's room, and tie her hands with a rope on the foot of her bed. I've got to find a
way to warn the highwayman. Bess inferred.

Dickinson and Frost
A common motif established in Dickinson's "We Grow Accustomed to the Dark" and Frost's "Acquainted with the Night" is the concept of darkness
and night, and how overwhelmingly consequential the effects of being submerged in darkness may have on a person. The concepts are intertwined
within each poem, and can be compared and contrasted through the literary elements of point of view, imagery, and structure.
A brief commonality between Dickinson's and Frost's poems is the element of point of view; they are both written in first person. From there, the
similarities seem to cut short, as Frost writes about the struggles that an individual feels as he becomes "acquainted with the night". Frost's individual
repeats the phrase "I have. . .", indicating to the reader a reflective attitude within the main character. The individual could be reflective for multiple
objectives, including the reflection necessary to move forward in a more positive motion. Furthermore, his continuity of the word "I" helps readers to
imagine that he, the individual, has had personal experience with the events within the poem. Contrasting Frost's poem, Emily Dickson and her
poem, while it too is written in first person, has a plural sense with a "We grow accustomed to the Dark" to open the poem, allowing for a less
personal sense of experience to develop. Because of the we, Dickinson is commenting on humanity as a whole, and the necessity to step outside the
box, or go against the grain, when partaking in

Narrative Essay Kindergarten
All I wanted when I was little was to have beautiful long hair. All of my dolls had hair down to their waist , and I longed to have hair like them.
Unfortunately for me, my hair did not grow very fast... at all. I was practically bald until I was three; and my hair was only about to my chin when
I was ready to start kindergarten. So there I was, on my first day at Foreign Language Academy. I was in SeГ±ora Vargas's Kindergarten class
holding on to my mom, dreading the moment she would have to leave. I had been really excited about starting school and getting to wear my navy
blue dress and my hellokitty backpack. Actually being in the classroom, however, incredibly nerve racking. Most of the parents were mingling and
asking questions to the teacher, while the kids tried to find their place. Some kids had already began to play games with one another. Others, like me,
were more shy, still clinging to their parent. In all the commotion, I noticed a girl who had the longest hair in the entire class of kindergartners. She
looked a lot like me except she had freckles, a pink cast on her arm, and the hair I had ever seen. Her hair was the same color as mine, but about
triple the length, and with more curl in it. Jealousy immediately swept over me. It seemed like this girl had everything I had ever wished for in my
entire life. I also thought casts were really cool at that time because I did not really understand that broken bones hurt, or that you couldn't really move

The Night By Elie Wiesel
In Night by Elie Wiesel, the author reflects on his own experience of being separated from his family and eventually his own religion. This separation
was not by any means voluntary, they were forced apart during the Holocaust. Wiesel was a Jew when the invasion of Hungary occurred and the
Germans ripped members of his religion away from their home in Sighet. A once peaceful community where Wiesel learned to love the Kabbalah was
now home to only dust and lost memories. Most members of that Jewish community were never to return, hell greeted them with open arms as they
walked through the now rusty gates of Auschwitz. In order to survive unimaginable circumstances that were enforced in these camps, a boy had to hang
on to his humanity. But by no means did humanity stay with the boy, being subjected to the horror of concentration camps, Auschwitz and Buchenwald,
Elie Wiesel saw first–hand how members of other communities attempt to silence opposing voices. All of the pain that Wiesel saw inspired him to
keep watch and tell stories for people who wouldn't live on to tell them for their own families. Stories are what keeps a person alive and through
Eliezer's words that he puts down many are able to get a sense of closure in knowing what occurred at these camps. One story occurred on the first
train ride away from home, a lady named Madame Schächter was beaten up for crying out against imminent death, unseen by others. She stayed like
that all through the day, dumb, absent,

Customer's Always Right?
Have you heard of the Wal–Mart lingo "customer's always right?" Well, the lingo only work for Wal
–Mart because the notion is far from that at
Roadrunners or "Roadies." I started working night shift at Roadies in the beginning. And then moved to swing shift to opening shift at 4AM,
Mondays thru Friday. So, I know the whole operation like the back of my hand. Roadies in Wapato, is known for its hot deli food. The
convenience store is a one quick stop shop when you're in a hurry, for a quick bite to eat, or a convenient stop for gas when traveling afar or when
the gas tank is just simply low on fuel. Especially with an icy cold hard beverage (for 21 years old and over) that'll do with hot wing justice. The place
offers a totally different atmosphere throughout the day. It's a completely different operation from mornings, middays, and nights. The customers vary
from different times of day and night and I can almost predict the type (crazy and crazier) of customers at the same time of the month as well.
Customers at Roadies range from somewhat normal and polite to disrespectful. The customers in the morning are mainly farm workers and 95%
don't speak English. So, I make do with the language barrier. A coworker of mine, Sarah Divina asked, "Will it hurt them (Mexicans) to at least try to
learn some English? I can understand if they're new in this country, but most of them had been here for years." At first, it felt like I could only perform
my job with one hand behind my back.

Death And Survival In Night By Elie Wiesel
Imagine living in fear and not knowing when its your time to die! In the memoir Night by Elie Wiesel it talked about the holocaust and how
people were trying to survive during the time of the Holocaust. Elie the main character was one of the Jews that were forced to go to the
concentration camps and had to follow the Germans orders. He had to take care of of his father during all the madness and couldn't even take care
of him self. His father was slowly dieing. Elie and his father had faith because they were able to survive the whole Holocaust. Death and survival in
the memoir shows a lot about how people in the story die during the madness of the War and how people make it and survive duringthe Holocaust.

Out At Night : The Need For Justice
Wolfpack out at night: The need for justice in a twisted jogger case.
The Central Park Five is a documentary by Ken Burns surrounded by the idea that five young boys were wrongfully charged for a crime they did not
commit and "justice" wasn't served. The documentary offered a brilliant twisted vision of "justice" that allowed the boys to be the scapegoat for a crime
they did not commit. The boys Yousef, Salem, Korey, Kevin, Anton and Raymond were cohered into giving a testimony and confessing to the rape
and assault of a jogger after cops pressured the young boys into a confession for a chance at freedom. Even when prosecutors had hard evidence
capable of giving the boys the "justice" they deserved they stubbornly resisted. By analyzing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The boys also told police about how they stabbed the woman but that didn't make sense because there weren't any stab wounds found on the woman.
Intense interrogation can bring a suspect, especially a young one, to the irrational conclusion that falsely confessing will improve a dreadful situation
but that wasn't the case. With all these hard compelling sufficient evidence prosecutors still decided to interrogate the boys and then soon after
charging and prosecuting the boys. How was that ever fair to these young men?
The author was very interested in writing about issues such as truth and honesty, fairness, equality, right, wrong and justice by analyzing how the
things that the characters in the televisions series say and do reflect law in a general sense. In his article, "Brady Justice: How the Brady Bunch
Taught Jurisprudence to Generations," Russ, Versteeg makes the argument that justice comes with fairness. It is common for us to acknowledge that
justice and the role of law in society are critically important. According to Versteeg , "One principle that we often associate with Justice is the notion
of equality. It is also common to refer to this principle as fairness (135)." In other words for one to exhibit justice, one must portray the quality of
being fair and reasonable in all situations. What this means is fairness is not always

London 1908-Short Story
London 1908
Her sunset hair danced along the night sky, slapping back and forth like a flag in the wind. And out of her bright, emerald eyes crept just enough light
from the high up moon for onlookers to have the opportunity to see the outline of this youthful, round face from their apartment windows. She was out

suggestion of a caretaker of guardian of some sorts.
Not a word was mentioned of the mysterious child due to the fact that the city street at this hour often remained barren and cold with only the
occasional bystander, walker, or tenant smoking one last cigarette on their balcony before bed. Tonight, however, the air had a cooler chill than usual,

Summary Of ' The ' O Clock News On The Eyes Darted Around...
His eyes darted around the circle. There were twelve objects surrounding him. Without even realizing it, he was about to make the most important
decision of his life. This was probably the most bizarre collection of items anyone will ever see. A book, a chicken leg, a ruler and a lipstick would
have no business being together in any other circumstances. After a few more minutes, he crawled toward the seal. The man and the woman standing
around the circle tensed in anticipation. At the last moment, he stopped, turned toward the miniature bale of straws, and picked it up. The woman
stifled a groan, and the man turned away in exasperation. And just like that, the man and the woman have decided that their one–year–old son will
never amount to anything.
For as long as I care to remember, I have believed that there is no such thing as "free will".
The 7'O Clock News on September 2, 2001 shook me to my core. The Chinese anchors shuffled their notes, put on the biggest smiles I had ever seen
and announced that "the Empire of America has finally gotten what's coming to them". Soon, my classmates started cheering. As far as I could tell, I
alone was disgusted. On the other hand, while Griffin does not specifically comment on the effects of nurturing on Himmler's life, I am inclined to
believe that the influence of his father and the popular harsh German pedagogy masterminded the monster that was later responsible for the crimes
against humanity. I first read B.F. Skinner's Beyond

Creative Story : A Short Story
"Hi kid. How was your day?" the sound of her father greeted Maddie as walked through the doorway. How was your day? It made her pause. That
was such an everyday question but after everything that happened, it became quite loaded. Throughout the entire day, Maddie had constantly felt eyes
on her. Watching. Judging. Wondering. Sympathizing. And everything in between. It seemed like everyone heard the news. Everyone had something
to say about it except no one had dared to tell it directly to her face. Realizing that a long time had passed, she looked up at her father and answered,
"It was fine." Fine. Probably the furthest from where she was at. But she could keep pretending. Right?
"Are you coming with us?" her father asked, hopefully.
"I don't know. I have a lot to do."
"Maddie, honey, I know that it has been hard on you. But I know that Tori would want you to come. You haven't visited since the firstnight." "I'll think
about it." Maddie said, trying not to give her father too much hope.
"Well, uh––" he was cut off by Maddie running up the stairs. He shook his head and continued on to make dinner.
She needed a break. She ran towards her room and slammed the door. It was a mess, clothes thrown everywhere, papers littered the floor...
everything skewed out of place. She dropped her book bag down and flopped onto her bed. It has been a long couple of day. Really long. She knew that
she probably... no... was being selfish. Her mother spent long hours at the hospital watching over

Safe Night Out Aesop
Aesop has written a multitude of sticky stories – The Boy Who Cried Wolf, The Tortoise and the Hare, The Wolf in Sheep's Clothing– just to name a
few. In common, these tales are carefully encoded with concrete imagery. From the many sticky works that Aesop wrote, the power of vivid and
tangible topics is demonstrated by the mere fact that Aesop's tales have been told for over 2,500 years and are still prevalent today. The Nature
Conservancy (TNC), for example, also capitalized concrete ideas in order to help protect environmentally precious land by using perceptible words and
ideas. Instead of using directional language to describe an area, they named it Mount Hamilton Wilderness so that people should definitively identify
the location.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Likewise, the Velcro Theory of Memory claims that rather than storing memory like a filing cabinet, like Velcro, remembering things is like the two
sides pressing together as the brain hosts a multitude of loops and hooks. Consider Jane Elliott's explanation of the assassination of Martin Luther
King, Jr. to her third–grade classroom. To make the abstract idea of racism concrete, she separated brown–eyed children from blue–eyed children,
proclaiming that the brown–eyed children were superiors. After the children experienced concrete racism, Elliott switched the roles of two groups
and further demonstrated the concreteness of racism. Altogether, in order for ideas to be sticky, they must be concrete. As with Stone Yamashita's
capitalization of concrete techniques to develop a partnership with Disney, ideas must be concrete for novices and more complex for experts.
Likewise, as with Kaplan, ideas need to be realistic and "fleshed out." In short, like General Mills' and the Saddleback Church's sticky ideas, people
are attracted to concrete ideas – they just stick better. Heath, C. & Heath, D. (2007). Made to Stick: Why Some Ideas Survive and Others Die [Kindle

Night vs. Life is Beautiful Night the novel and the movie Life is Beautiful has many similarities and differences. The character development, conflicts,
and plot resemble and contrast in the two stories. Night by Elie Wiesel was a writer of the autobiographical account, the novel was written in 1955.
Night is about a young Jewish boy named Elie, who was trying to learn more about his religion. Elie and his family soon after are taken from their
homes and put into the "ghetto". Elie's family is shortly transported to a concentration camp where Elie sees the last of his sisters and his mother. Elie

knew he was running out of strength, so close to death, and yet I had abandoned him." (page 106) said Elie. Elie started to only think about himself
and not his loved ones. While Life is Beautiful shows what happens to all of the characters. Elie's story begins very close to the beginning of the
Holocaust, Guido's story before the Holocaust takes up half of the movie. Night and Life is beautiful are similar and different in many ways. They
both show the views of someone during the Holocaust. Elie and Guido evolve by not thinking about their actions at the end of the stories they both
think about how their actions will affect them. Elie's conflicts are smaller than Guido's, such as Elie only having to take care of him and sometimes
his father, while Guido has to think about his whole family. Both of the stories involve the Holocaust, except Elie's story focuses on just Elie, while
Guido's story focuses on the other characters

I Sit And Look Out' And Elie Wiesel's Night
The poem "I Sit and Look Out" by Walt Whitman describes some problems in the world which many people are unable to solve. The poem is
similar to the book "Night" by Elie Wiesel, which is about his experience during the Holocaust. Both of these works have identical connections that
reflect on the world as a terrible place. "I Sit and Look Out" and "Night" connect because they explain children neglecting their parents. "I see, in low
life, the mother misused by her children, dying, neglected, gaunt, desperate;" (Walt Whitman) The mother is taken advantage of by her own children.
She stays distressed in solitude when she needs her children the most. Relating to a part of "Night" which explains how Rabbi Eliahou loses his son.

"I observe slights and degradations cast by arrogant persons upon laborers, the poor,/ and/ upon/ negroes, and the like;" (Walt Whitman) Whitman
observes the poor workers and the Negroes that were treated like objects in the hands of the wealthy. In a similar situation, Jews were seen as
subhumans compared to everyone else. The Jews were blamed for every crisis that happened in Germany. The ones who were chosen as the fittest
in the concentration camps, were then used as tools and nothing more. "He ordered four prisoners to wash the wooden floor. . . . An hour before
leaving the camp! Why? For whom? "For the liberating army, he cried. So they'll realize there were men living here and not pigs." Were we men
then?" (Elie Wiesel, 80) Whitman's statement compliments this quote from "Night" because Whitman explains that the poor workers and the
Negroes were treated with disrespect and Wiesel describes how the men were treated to the point where they thought they were no longer human. In
conclusion, "I Sit and Look Out" by Walt Whitman and "Night" by Elie Wiesel have several identical connections that reflect on the world as being a
terrible place. We are unable to solve these problems, so all that we can do is look out upon the world as it

Nature And Nature : The Physical Characteristics Of Nature
When the word "nature" comes to mind, (at least to me and google images), scenes of thick, dense forests with light barely prevailing through the
canopy, birds of paradise and their fruitful colors bathing in the tropical sun, and every imaginable shade of green encompassing the premise first
come to mind. But for a girl born and raised in the Entertainment Capital of the World known no other than Las Vegas, the most natural things I have
ever seen are the palm trees in my very backyard and the desert sands that occupy everything else. But just because my take on the physical
characteristics of nature is narrower than others, does not mean I cannot appreciate nature on a more spiritual scale.
Although most of my life takes place indoors, from attending school, to cheer practice, to even visiting the grocery store, I often find myself turning
to nature as my getaway in many spare moments. When the chance presents itself, I occasionally will just sit in my backyard, embracing nature and
all of its glory, from its sunlight hitting my skin or its slight breezes that balance out the Vegas heat. I may even bring a novel with me and read in
peace, or more simply rest my body and mind and become one with my nature. The serenity of that time and place, of me enjoying what I call nature,
creates an escape for my mind to wander and explore, and most importantly forget. My favorite time to do this is at night; where the scorching heat has
now decreased to a cool nighttime

The Fourth State Of Matter Summary
The Fourth State of Matter Idea Critique
The Fourth State of Matter by Beard shows the emotional and mental state of people when they lose control of their lives. The coming together of
three stories into one is remarkable and continues to support the view of confusion in life since no one can fully control it. The best thing to do most
of the time is accept change and try as much as possible to enjoy life. Beard's life seems to be going out of control, but through time and effort she
realizes that she can take control of her emotional and mental state.
In this story, there is a dying dog which Beard refuses to euthanize. The dog is associated with her inability to let go of her husband and other loved
ones. There is a family of squirrels living in her bedroom upstairs where she keeps things belonging to her almost ex–husband. These animals create
problems by creating loud noises through the night. The squirrels represent her unstable state of mind over the relationships in her life. Lastly, there ...

her life instead of discussing astrophysics. In fact, she gets upset when someone erases the blackboard so that they can draw a celestial body. Her
connection to Chris is another point that shows her strange state of mind. She talks about Chris and his family and seems envious. How she writes
about Chris seems to hint that she wants more than just friendship but had to accept reality that it isn't going to happen between the two of them. Her
constant drinking of whiskey is also a sign of depression, which shows her current mental

Groups Hanging Out on the Street at Night
1.When did the outreach clients begin hanging out in their groups on the street at night?
On that night, we have encountered four groups of clients. The first group seems to be around 17–21 years old and is a little bit hostile, so we did not
spend much time with them and failed to ask questions. Based upon the conversation between the group and the social workers, they have probably
stayed at that particular spot for 2 hours which mean they began hanging out before ten o'clock.
The second group consists of 4 men (probably at 20–24 years old) and has gathered together in the evening. They spent their evening playing
basketball with a social worker called 'Ben Sir' and continue their night with poker, cigar and beers.
We have met the third group in the spot called 'the present box' and it was the largest group on that night with 2 women and 8 men between the ages
of 19 and 24. The gathering time differs among the group; there were new comers at one o'clock in the early morning, but most of the group began
their gathering in about 10 o'clock.
The last group of clients was relatively younger in which all of them are secondary school students (Form 3–4). We do not know if we should consider
them as night drifters or not since the social workers have never seen any of them in the past one and a half year in that district. Moreover, the reason
for them to hang out together was to celebrate a friend's birthday and to cheer up another friend who has just broken up with

Here is a critique of the book Night by Elie Wiesel:Title: A Harrowing yet Important Account of the Holocaust Night by Elie Wiesel provides a deeply personal and impactful retelling of the author's experiences during the Holocaust. Wiesel takes the reader on his journey from a normal life in Sighet, Transylvania to the horrors of Auschwitz and Buchenwald concentration camps. His writing vividly conveys the dehumanization and loss of identity he and others faced under Nazi rule. Some of the most powerful aspects of the book include Wiesel's loss of faith in God amid the immense suffering, as well as the changing dynamics of his relationship with his father as they struggle to survive

  • 1. Mysterium Short Story CHAPTER ONE of Mysterium One day, we were camping in the woods. We set up camp only in the fringe of the forest, but still surrounded by trees on all sides. It was night, around midnight, we were telling ghost stories, but it was just me, my friend and his dog, and my grandpa. My grandpa was just starting his story, "One time, long ago, there was a boy and his dog, wandering the forest here..." here his voice got an eerie tone, which I never heard before, and still gives me the chills today, and he continued talking. "The dog heard a noise, like a twig snapping, and ran, the boy tried to chase his ferret, but ran head long into a strange fox, red eyes, black fur, and the boy wasn't seen again. The dog, unaware of what happened, returned home, the fox is said to be still around this forest somewhere," a pack of wolves howled in the distance, giving me goose bumps, my friend scooted closer to his pet, a green and white cat, uneasy. Suddenly, I saw a black shape moving in the darkness outside of the fire light, it looked at me, red eyes flashing in the light of the fire, and then disappeared into the dark forest. Grandpa was saying we should get some sleep, but I was too nervous to sleep from the image of those eyes fresh in my memory, so I stayed up most of the night reading and thinking about what I saw, until I fell asleep, book open next to me. The next morning I exited the small two person tent. It had me, my friend, and his cat, all in one tent; it got cramped in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Role Expectations: Out In The Night By Nikki Jones There are mainstream role expectations that our society deems fit for every individual. When individuals don't follow what society sees as the norm it can cause tension. The use of Nikki Jones' book, between good and Ghetto: African American Girls and Inner City Violence helps depict the reality of black women and violence in inner cities. Examining this text and applying it to the film Out in the Night can start to show how the medias depiction of the women in Out in the Night heavily relies on the hetero–normative narratives that many people hold in today's society, instead of the harsh reality that is seen throughout Jones's book. The use of intersectionality and role expectations play a huge role in how these young women are treated throughout ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Being excluded forced them to find other individuals that are similar to them so that they could be open about their true identity with the knowledge that they are in a secure environment. In the film Out in the Night (2014), the young women were walking down a street a man catcalled to one of the girls, fulfilling a gendered role that society sees as normal, or enduring. When the girls explained they were lesbian, violating their role expectations, the man started using explicit and derogatory language toward them about their race and sexuality. The women used violence for their protection, and to assert a position in society. The fact that they're black is the reason that the media depicted them as demonizing individuals. The criminalization of black individuals and more specifically female black individuals shapes the mind of society. The media twisted the story dehumanizing these women by describing them as a " violent pack of lesbians" (Doroshwalther 2014) like they were a pack of animals. Not only did the media turn them into animals but it also alluded to the idea that they were acting in a violent manner because they were black lesbians who were upset that a man hit on them. Instead showing the reality that Jones (2010) shares with us, which is that these girls were left with no choice, calling the cops and being passive is not how situations are taken care of in their community, if they were to call the cops, people would have died before the police even got to the ... • 5. Identity In Night By Elie Wiesel Sometimes in life we are faced with challenges that threaten our identities. In the book Night by Elie Wiesel his challenge was the holocaust, and every aspect of his identity changed. He lost his faith, his appearance changed dramatically, and his lost his ability to care about things he loved most. Elie starts out in pretty good physical condition but that changes throughout the course of Night. In the book Elie is afraid of failing the second examination after he had been in the work camp so long. (Wiesel pg.71) It's proof his condition must have been worsened because in the beginning he passed with no problem. Him showing this fear proves he was weakened from starvation and the abuse he faced, so he might not be able to work much longer. No work meant the ultimate liberation from the bleak and dismal life that was the concentration camps. In the end of the book after the allied forces liberates Elie he is in a hospital and he looks in the mirror and says "a corpse was looking back contemplating me." (wiesel pg 115) It provides the fact the he changed enough that he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He started off in the story really caring about his father sacrificing his own safety just so he could stay close to him. After his father was struck ill in the new camp he gave up on him. In the story Elie wanted to keep his shoes even if that meant he would get tormented even more. This show he has a very strong will and loves things that give him a glimmer of hope. • 6. Night Book Critique Sarah Coleman May 3, 2017 Period 5 Western Civ. 12 Night Book Critique Night, by Elie Wiesel, is a story about a Jewish boy growing up during World War II. The main character in the book, Eliezer Wiesel, talks about the different experiences he had during World War II. He started off by talking about how everything was normal, and no one was too worried about the war that was going on. One man, Moishe the Beadle, was taken off to another country, and when he managed to get back, he warned everyone what would happened if they did not leave. A few people listened to him, but not Eliezer's parents. A couple years later, when the war sounded like it was almost over, Germans entered the town that Eliezer's family were living in. After this, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I would suggest that no one reads the book before they are seniors, maybe juniors, in high school. I would recommend it to students younger, but some of the stories are slightly too graphic, like the one where the little boy is being hung, but is not heavy enough to die right away so he just hung there for a while until he finally died. I feel that everyone reads the book because it gives people a better insight into what people experienced in the camps. I knew that the prisoners had a really rough life in the camps, but this book really opened my eyes to how bad it really was. People who are planning on being history majors or are going into politics should read this book at least twice. This would be so that they make sure that something like this does not happen again. Also, more so for the history majors, to teach other people the effects that living in the camps had on people. One example that really showed the effect of the camp was at the end when Eliezer looked at himself in the mirror and did not recognize himself. These are the main reasons I would recommend everyone read Night at least ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Personal Narrative : My Second Day At The Sun "Wow, what a beautiful sunset. " everybody said, excited looking at the sunset while being devoured by the ocean. We were all sitting in the cold wet sand together enjoying the view as a whole family. "We made a great choice coming to the beach before the sun set" said my dad. We all agreed with him. After looking at the sunset we all went to go eat dinner at a Mexican restaurant because everybody was craving Mexican food. I ordered a burrito with steak and rice inside. My parents both ordered the same thing as always which was steak fajitas. My cousins also got a burrito but they got pulled pork burritos. And my brother and sister got flautas which are tacos but they come in a hard–shell tortilla. After we finished eating, we all headed to my cousin's place to have a small party to celebrate coming to their place and seeing them again. This was the second time seeing them because The first time we saw them when they came to boulder. Later we all slept at my uncles place, because everybody was really tired and we didn't want to go find a hotel to stay in. This was my second day at California. On the 24th of December, we all agreed on going to California for winter break. So, on the 25th of December in the afternoon after we opened our present, we all started packing everything only for three days. • 8. An Analysis Of Elie Wiesel 's ' The Jewish Scriptures ' Set in early 1930's Sighet, Elie Wiesel is expected to do as he is told and continue to further his studies in the Jewish scriptures. Young Elie becomes intrigued by the vast amount of knowledge he has absorbed over his youthful fifteen years, and determined to verse himself in Kabballah, a more intense and deeper branch of the holy texts. Going against his father's word, he dives into the water, swimming into depths uncharted by all Sighet boys his age. One day, in his search for intellect, Wiesel met a man, worn by age, and wised by life. Moishe the Beadle he said he went by. The two shared a special passion for Kabballah. Upon meeting the Beadle, Elie began to extend his learning. Time progressed until Moishe the Beadle vanished with no word. Days later he came back in a state quite unexplainably poor. The man was sad and scared out of his mind, but it was the worry and the concern that had spoken to Elie and the villagers. It was his worrisome and concerned voiced that pleaded everyone to listen. To heed his advice and run. Run far and wide. Run, and don't stop. Run until they reached a safe haven. The boy cried wolf but the villagers did not seize to listen, not even once. Little did they know what fate had in store for them. Finally, the monsters and creatures crawled out of the darkness of the Beadle's "imagination." Impeccably charismatic, and skilled in the field of first impressions, the behemoths won the trust and respect of many of the people in no time... but it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. She Believed in All or Nothing Everything happened completely unexpectedly. It was all far too fast and quick for to comprehend. The last few days have just been this complete blur in the mind of sixteen year old Celeste Clancy. It was Thursday, September 15 when it all went down; and if there was one exact detail Celeste remembered was how fair the weather had been over the sleepy town of Redmeadow. It had been rather overcast much of that morning, but the clouds made sure to clear up by mid–afternoon before allowing a small breeze to settle over the valley late into the night. The night. That was another detail she could remember quite clearly. She had always liked the night. The dark sky and cooler temperatures allowed her to think distinctly. Now after all the events that had recently unfolded, she didn't know how to look at the moon anymore. She always felt so hollow when she gazed at it like she used to. It was a terrifying thought. Nowadays she could barely face herself in the light of the sun and it seemed like the moon had decided to abandon her as well. Whether it was because the celestial being was turning its back on her or if it was because it didn't want anyone else to see her. Either way it was tragic to feel so alone, so empty. Celeste had felt that way for the past three days. Some people said it was just grief setting in, but she refused to believe that. It was something more, something much stronger. She had lost family before so she knew the sorrow that came with death close to her, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. What Is The Theme Of The Devil's Wife By Carol Ann Duffy "The Devil's Wife" by Carol Ann Duffy is a tragic and powerful poem. Written in the form of a dramatic monologue, Duffy adopts the persona of Myra Hindley, the notorious Moors Murderer. The poem consists of five individually titled sections, each describing an individual part of Hindley's experiences from meeting Brady to feeling sorry for herself while sitting in her prison cell. At the end of her life. Themes relating to avoiding responsibility, self–pity and her fear of society's reaction to her crimes are explored as Duffy creates an effective persona. One way in which an effective persona is created is through Duffy suggesting that Hindley avoiding responsibility for her actions. Straight away, the persona makes out that Brady possessed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The persona is only concerned with her appearance by saying that "Nobody liked my hair. Nobody liked how I spoke". This emphasises how utterly egocentric and self–obsessed she was with herself. Duffy implies that the persona is completely unconcerned with the terrible crimes she has committed and only bothered about how she is seen by others. By suggesting it intensifies the reader's anger, making her out to be a clear antagonist. The persona makes out that she was treated badly in prison and that she wanted people to feel sympathetic for her. She says, "I was left to rot." It suggests to the reader that the persona experienced a horrible time in jail and that she deserves pity for that. However, the word choice of "rot" is ironic as her victims were quite literally left to rot in the moors, again showing that she sees herself as being Brady's victim and reminding the reader of her crimes. Again, the persona shows her egocentricity by the repeated use of the word "I". It shows us how selfish she is and spends no time thinking about others, including her victims and is continually complaining about just how much she has suffered, while not addressing about how her victims and their families have suffered and are still suffering. The final line of this dramatic monologue suggests again shows her self–pity and how self–absorbed she was right up until ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. A Short Story : A Story? It was was a normal night as usual for Phil and his family. Wash up, eat dinner, say a prayer and go to bed. However, the peaceful night would suddenly devolve into terror at their house. The whole family went to sleep that night and Phil could not fall asleep, so he went to get a glass of water, his mouth was dry, and proceeded toward the kitchen. He looked at the darknight sky and saw something in the shadows, a bright light. however he responded to this unusual bright light with a melancholy demeanor. Phil went upstairs and walked into his room and laid back down on his bed, next to his wife, his children downstairs in their rooms sleeping happily forever. Phil fell asleep, however a few minutes later Phil woke up struggling to breath, smoke in the air, and heat nearly burning his flesh as the house was engulfed in flames. To most many would react in a startled manner, however Phil didn't think anything a just remained in bed almost willing to die as he knew his family would die as well. It was the last worldly gasps of breath that Phil would take as a mortal being. Phil, oddly woke up the next day, however his house was untouched by flames, and his family was still alive. In normal routine, he ate breakfast, got dressed, put his coat on and went to work in his '67 Chevy Camaro, a personal vehicle he had owned for a while, but treasured dearly. • 12. Forever In Elie Wiesel's Night Throughout the story Night there has been a theme of nothing last forever. The theme can be used to describe the holocaust and concentration camps in the novel .The main character experiences this in almost every part of the novel. This theme can be compare to almost anything not just things that have to do with the novel night. After nearly two years of desolation, a young boy finally saw the first glimmer of hope on the horizon; the Americans had finally arrived, and the Nazis were gone and he realize that his pain wasn't going to last forever. In his autobiography Night, Elie Wiesel shares his experiences in Auschwitz–Birkenau, one of Hitler's concentration camps. Wiesel was one of the Jews to survive the Holocaust during World War II.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many Jews who survived the Holocaust were forced to change. From the beatings, starvation, and other physical and emotional tortures, the survivors would never be the same. Survivors of the Holocaust tell their stories so we all remember that what Hitler did to the Jews was unforgivable and should never be repeated. Like Everything about the world the Holocaust and the Jewish people suffering never lasted forever. An example of this is in the start of the novel Night when the Jews thought that everything was okay and nobody was worried when they were warned about the Nazis. This showed how they had to find out how nothing lasts forever even peace. Another example of this in the novel is when the Jews had to endure running away from the camp, but they were liberated soon after fleeing the concentration camp. For all humans, but especially the most stubborn, one of the most difficult truths to accept is that all seasons pass, all stages come to an end, and that all living things die. Just as how the Nazis and Hitler had to watch their empire fall in front of them and how the Jews had to leave all their belongings and houses, we watch hoping that nothing changes and that everything stays the same. What we're resisting is the natural order of things as we hold tight to a belief that says that all good things must ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analyzing The Documentary 'Out In The Night' Out in the night is a documentary about how much are the gay people oppressed, and the society is not accepting them, therefore they are struggling to get accepted, and gain their proper place in the society. And the main problem in the documentary is the assault of a man on a group of lesbians in New York, so they get arrested for trying to protect and defending themselves, and their struggle to get freedom. After this incident, the media started to talk and describe it as a gang assault, and started to call them names like "killer lesbians" and "wolf gang", which made the group look like criminals and murderers, and made the people got the wrong idea about the girls, based in the incorrect stereotypes that the media was spreading among people, ... Safe Night Out Law 1.0 Thesis Although the Safe Night out Law aims to reduce alcohol– and drug–related violence in Queensland's nightlife, there is still a high incidence of alcohol fuelled violence. • 15. Argumentative Essay On National Night Out I never knew of National Night Out until a couple of weeks ago, when at church, it was mentioned as an excellent opportunity to connect with one's community. Growing up in a cul–de–sac with a bunch of older couples, my siblings and I were always playing all by ourselves. We were limited by the absence of other neighborhood kids. I acutely remember the pain of not being able to play with any others, other than my younger siblings. Being part of a vibrant neighborhood community, however, was not just something that was missing for us, as we lived in a cul–de–sac. The vista of a neighborhood street filled with children and families on porches in the evenings after dinner is nothing but a scene in a movie today. It is a dream of bygone times. We as Americans in general live lives wholly disconnected from those that live around us. We stay inside, when we're home, and then abscond into our cars as we drive away to work each day. Our interactions with our neighbors is kept to a minimum. National Night Out, which is today, August 1, is an annual community–building campaign that promotes police–community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live, for it is known that the lack of a true sense of community weakens the local economy, isn't conducive to a healthy environment, and breeds disrespect among peoples – urban planning and smart neighborhood development are not only good for the environment, despite such ... The Fears Of Fear : Fear Of Darkness I've always had fears in the back of my mind but as I've got older I have come realize that they were childish and silly thoughts that stopped me from achieving big things. The first fear I had was Nycophobia or in other words the fear of darkness. I could distinctly remember when I could see shadows on the wall which in my mind were monsters, ghosts. The fear of darkness is a common phobia to have but to me it was more than just a fear it was an integral part of my life. Most young children can go to bed and fall asleep without any hassle, however in my case going to bed was like being sent to death. There I would lay on my bed in a dark room when I would see a shadow zoom past the wall causing me to scream like a little girl, it was embarrassing. Then again, this was only one of the encounters I had with 'spirit world' but there was one encounter and this was the worst of all, it was that scary it could frighten a grown man. And it all started at my little old grans house. My granny's house lay on a narrow street next to the graveyard which really spooked me out, however I did have my granny to look after me, right? No, instead of sleeping in my grans nice cosy bedroom that night I had to sleep downstairs on my own in my uncle's old room. This room was the complete opposite of my grans it was a cold and smelly old room which was almost non liveable. Despite this, I did have a huge double bed all to myself. • 21. Night Reflection William Shakespeare once said, "Some rise by sin, and some by virtue fall". In the same way, people who go through life–changing events will either be overthrown by the world's sin, or they will overcome it like a militia conquering another country. For example, in the book Night by Elie Wiesel, he states, "But now, I no longer pleaded for anything. I was no longer able to lament. On the contrary, I felt very strong. I was the accuser, God the accused. My eyes had opened and I was alone, terribly alone in a world without God, without man. I was nothing but ashes now, but I felt myself to be stronger than this Almighty to whom my life had been bound for so long..." (68). Henceforth, throughout the book Night, the main character, Elie, is changed drastically by his near–death experiences in Auschwitz. Body Paragraph 1: Before Elie was taken away to Auschwitz, he shows many different character traits, such as spirituality, faithfulness, and a sense of understanding. E– First, Elie's spirituality is shown on page 8 of Night, when he states, "I continued to devote myself to my studies. Talmud during the day and Kabbalah at night." (Wiesel 8). R– Elie feels that he should study Jewish rituals because he wants to be closer to God. I think this tells the reader that Elie is faithful in his religion and faithful to God. If he hadn't chose to study this, then he wouldn't have learned anything about his faith and he wouldn't be seen by others as spiritual. E– Later in the book, evidence ... "Yip yip," George tells his horse with a calm voice, "try and catch me, and I will give up my fortune to you." The redcoats continue to play in George's game. The redcoats sped up and suddenly called, "Highwayman, slow down or force will be a factor of this chase." George wittingly says, "Ok, if we have to!" George shoots the third redcoat. • 23. Dickinson and Frost A common motif established in Dickinson's "We Grow Accustomed to the Dark" and Frost's "Acquainted with the Night" is the concept of darkness and night, and how overwhelmingly consequential the effects of being submerged in darkness may have on a person. The concepts are intertwined within each poem, and can be compared and contrasted through the literary elements of point of view, imagery, and structure. A brief commonality between Dickinson's and Frost's poems is the element of point of view; they are both written in first person. From there, the similarities seem to cut short, as Frost writes about the struggles that an individual feels as he becomes "acquainted with the night". Frost's individual repeats the phrase "I have. . .", indicating to the reader a reflective attitude within the main character. The individual could be reflective for multiple objectives, including the reflection necessary to move forward in a more positive motion. Furthermore, his continuity of the word "I" helps readers to imagine that he, the individual, has had personal experience with the events within the poem. Contrasting Frost's poem, Emily Dickson and her poem, while it too is written in first person, has a plural sense with a "We grow accustomed to the Dark" to open the poem, allowing for a less personal sense of experience to develop. Because of the we, Dickinson is commenting on humanity as a whole, and the necessity to step outside the box, or go against the grain, when partaking in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I had been really excited about starting school and getting to wear my navy blue dress and my hellokitty backpack. Actually being in the classroom, however, incredibly nerve racking. Most of the parents were mingling and asking questions to the teacher, while the kids tried to find their place. Some kids had already began to play games with one another. Others, like me, were more shy, still clinging to their parent. In all the commotion, I noticed a girl who had the longest hair in the entire class of kindergartners. She looked a lot like me except she had freckles, a pink cast on her arm, and the hair I had ever seen. Her hair was the same color as mine, but about triple the length, and with more curl in it. • 25. The Night By Elie Wiesel In Night by Elie Wiesel, the author reflects on his own experience of being separated from his family and eventually his own religion. This separation was not by any means voluntary, they were forced apart during the Holocaust. Wiesel was a Jew when the invasion of Hungary occurred and the Germans ripped members of his religion away from their home in Sighet. A once peaceful community where Wiesel learned to love the Kabbalah was now home to only dust and lost memories. Most members of that Jewish community were never to return, hell greeted them with open arms as they walked through the now rusty gates of Auschwitz. In order to survive unimaginable circumstances that were enforced in these camps, a boy had to hang on to his humanity. But by no means did humanity stay with the boy, being subjected to the horror of concentration camps, Auschwitz and Buchenwald, Elie Wiesel saw first–hand how members of other communities attempt to silence opposing voices. All of the pain that Wiesel saw inspired him to keep watch and tell stories for people who wouldn't live on to tell them for their own families. Stories are what keeps a person alive and through Eliezer's words that he puts down many are able to get a sense of closure in knowing what occurred at these camps. Especially with an icy cold hard beverage (for 21 years old and over) that'll do with hot wing justice. The place offers a totally different atmosphere throughout the day. It's a completely different operation from mornings, middays, and nights. The customers vary from different times of day and night and I can almost predict the type (crazy and crazier) of customers at the same time of the month as well. Customers at Roadies range from somewhat normal and polite to disrespectful. The customers in the morning are mainly farm workers and 95% don't speak English. So, I make do with the language barrier. The boys Yousef, Salem, Korey, Kevin, Anton and Raymond were cohered into giving a testimony and confessing to the rape and assault of a jogger after cops pressured the young boys into a confession for a chance at freedom. In common, these tales are carefully encoded with concrete imagery. From the many sticky works that Aesop wrote, the power of vivid and tangible topics is demonstrated by the mere fact that Aesop's tales have been told for over 2,500 years and are still prevalent today. The Nature Conservancy (TNC), for example, also capitalized concrete ideas in order to help protect environmentally precious land by using perceptible words and ideas. Instead of using directional language to describe an area, they named it Mount Hamilton Wilderness so that people should definitively identify the location.... To make the abstract idea of racism concrete, she separated brown–eyed children from blue–eyed children, proclaiming that the brown–eyed children were superiors. After the children experienced concrete racism, Elliott switched the roles of two groups and further demonstrated the concreteness of racism. • 34. Life Is Beautiful And Night Comparison Night vs. Life is Beautiful Night the novel and the movie Life is Beautiful has many similarities and differences. The character development, conflicts, and plot resemble and contrast in the two stories. Night by Elie Wiesel was a writer of the autobiographical account, the novel was written in 1955. Night is about a young Jewish boy named Elie, who was trying to learn more about his religion. Elie and his family soon after are taken from their homes and put into the "ghetto". Elie's family is shortly transported to a concentration camp where Elie sees the last of his sisters and his mother. Elie and his father are together throughout the whole entire novel and have many hardships throughout the story. But, sadly Elie's father dies not too far away from being released. Elie started to only think about himself and not his loved ones. While Life is Beautiful shows what happens to all of the characters. Elie's story begins very close to the beginning of the Holocaust, Guido's story before the Holocaust takes up half of the movie. Night and Life is beautiful are similar and different in many ways. They both show the views of someone during the Holocaust. Elie and Guido evolve by not thinking about their actions at the end of the stories they both think about how their actions will affect them. Elie's conflicts are smaller than Guido's, such as Elie only having to take care of him and sometimes his father, while Guido has to think about his whole family. • 35. I Sit And Look Out' And Elie Wiesel's Night The poem "I Sit and Look Out" by Walt Whitman describes some problems in the world which many people are unable to solve. The poem is similar to the book "Night" by Elie Wiesel, which is about his experience during the Holocaust. Both of these works have identical connections that reflect on the world as a terrible place. "I Sit and Look Out" and "Night" connect because they explain children neglecting their parents. "I see, in low life, the mother misused by her children, dying, neglected, gaunt, desperate;" (Walt Whitman) The mother is taken advantage of by her own children. She stays distressed in solitude when she needs her children the most. Relating to a part of "Night" which explains how Rabbi Eliahou loses his son. "It happened on... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "I observe slights and degradations cast by arrogant persons upon laborers, the poor,/ and/ upon/ negroes, and the like;" (Walt Whitman) Whitman observes the poor workers and the Negroes that were treated like objects in the hands of the wealthy. In a similar situation, Jews were seen as subhumans compared to everyone else. The Jews were blamed for every crisis that happened in Germany. The ones who were chosen as the fittest in the concentration camps, were then used as tools and nothing more. "He ordered four prisoners to wash the wooden floor. . . . An hour before leaving the camp! Why? For whom? "For the liberating army, he cried. So they'll realize there were men living here and not pigs." Were we men then?" (Elie Wiesel, 80) Whitman's statement compliments this quote from "Night" because Whitman explains that the poor workers and the Negroes were treated with disrespect and Wiesel describes how the men were treated to the point where they thought they were no longer human. In conclusion, "I Sit and Look Out" by Walt Whitman and "Night" by Elie Wiesel have several identical connections that reflect on the world as being a terrible place. We are unable to solve these problems, so all that we can do is look out upon the world as it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Nature And Nature : The Physical Characteristics Of Nature When the word "nature" comes to mind, (at least to me and google images), scenes of thick, dense forests with light barely prevailing through the canopy, birds of paradise and their fruitful colors bathing in the tropical sun, and every imaginable shade of green encompassing the premise first come to mind. But for a girl born and raised in the Entertainment Capital of the World known no other than Las Vegas, the most natural things I have ever seen are the palm trees in my very backyard and the desert sands that occupy everything else. But just because my take on the physical characteristics of nature is narrower than others, does not mean I cannot appreciate nature on a more spiritual scale. Although most of my life takes place indoors, from attending school, to cheer practice, to even visiting the grocery store, I often find myself turning to nature as my getaway in many spare moments. When the chance presents itself, I occasionally will just sit in my backyard, embracing nature and all of its glory, from its sunlight hitting my skin or its slight breezes that balance out the Vegas heat. I may even bring a novel with me and read in peace, or more simply rest my body and mind and become one with my nature. The serenity of that time and place, of me enjoying what I call nature, creates an escape for my mind to wander and explore, and most importantly forget. My favorite time to do this is at night; where the scorching heat has now decreased to a cool nighttime ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Walking out of my childhood home and into the car that would be my home for the next couple of days, I take a seat to the feeling everything in the back seats squeezing in on me, but I knew that I'd have to survive with little space for the next couple of days. I yell my last goodbyes out to my childhood friends as we slowly exit our driveway. I see tears running on everyone's faces but I knew that we would come back to Boston soon. There was pure silence since the journey began to Georgia. My parents and sister didn't dare to speak a word about how we wouldn't be coming back often, but we ... • 38. The Fourth State Of Matter Summary The Fourth State of Matter Idea Critique The Fourth State of Matter by Beard shows the emotional and mental state of people when they lose control of their lives. The coming together of three stories into one is remarkable and continues to support the view of confusion in life since no one can fully control it. The best thing to do most of the time is accept change and try as much as possible to enjoy life. Beard's life seems to be going out of control, but through time and effort she realizes that she can take control of her emotional and mental state. In this story, there is a dying dog which Beard refuses to euthanize. The dog is associated with her inability to let go of her husband and other loved ones. There is a family of squirrels living in her bedroom upstairs where she keeps things belonging to her almost ex–husband. These animals create problems by creating loud noises through the night. The squirrels represent her unstable state of mind over the relationships in her life. Lastly, there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All these relationships appear perfect compared to hers. Chris consoles her after hearing about the separation with her husband. He says, "You'll do fine" (Beard, 1996). Lack of sleep affects her concentration at work as shown by the drawings on the blackboard. She draws abstract images about her life instead of discussing astrophysics. In fact, she gets upset when someone erases the blackboard so that they can draw a celestial body. Her connection to Chris is another point that shows her strange state of mind. She talks about Chris and his family and seems envious. How she writes about Chris seems to hint that she wants more than just friendship but had to accept reality that it isn't going to happen between the two of them. Her constant drinking of whiskey is also a sign of depression, which shows her current mental ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Groups Hanging Out on the Street at Night 1.When did the outreach clients begin hanging out in their groups on the street at night? On that night, we have encountered four groups of clients. The first group seems to be around 17–21 years old and is a little bit hostile, so we did not spend much time with them and failed to ask questions. Based upon the conversation between the group and the social workers, they have probably stayed at that particular spot for 2 hours which mean they began hanging out before ten o'clock. The second group consists of 4 men (probably at 20–24 years old) and has gathered together in the evening. They spent their evening playing basketball with a social worker called 'Ben Sir' and continue their night with poker, cigar and beers. We have met the third group in the spot called 'the present box' and it was the largest group on that night with 2 women and 8 men between the ages of 19 and 24. The gathering time differs among the group; there were new comers at one o'clock in the early morning, but most of the group began their gathering in about 10 o'clock. The last group of clients was relatively younger in which all of them are secondary school students (Form 3–4). We do not know if we should consider them as night drifters or not since the social workers have never seen any of them in the past one and a half year in that district. Moreover, the reason for them to hang out together was to celebrate a friend's birthday and to cheer up another friend who has just broken up with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
