1. Q5: How did you attract/address your audience?
After carrying out my market research I decided that my main target audience would be both males
and females aged between 16 and 25. This is similar to the audience of magazines such as ‘NME’
from which I took inspiration when trying to attract a particular audience.
My photographs are designed to catch the attention of the audience. To do this I used a mask on the
front cover image. This gives the magazine a sense of being unusual.
I also used the Gutenberg design principle when taking my images. The mask is featured on the left
hand side of the magazine close to the top; this is the strongest fallow area.
When researching double page spreads I looked at ‘Q’ and ‘Kerrang!’. I decided that mine should
make the audience feel as though they are talking to the artist themselves.
