How did you attract/ address
your audience?
Text/Font
• I wanted to attract/address my audience by ensuring that the text/font would be suitable and my making sure it
would draw them to the magazine. As I have said my target audience is ages between 16 – 26 so it is a young
target audience. To attract them I have used a text that would stand out on a shelf and used colours that contrast
with each other such as black and yellow and black and white. I have used a simple font that however looks
professional and I believe that this will attract my audience as many magazines do this such as one I have
researched , mix mag. As you can see from the examples below I have often used white against black or yellow
against black in a bold font, this is to stand out and is also to attract my target audience to the magazine as a
younger audience will like things that stand out yet look professional as show by my research of vibe and mixmag
where the masthead is rather simple yet looks professional. On the top of my front cover I have listed popular
artists which will also attract my audience.
Colours
• Throughout my magazine I believe that I address/attract my audience by using colours that will appeal to
them and that stand out. My colour scheme is mainly white, black and yellow and I believe that this would
only really appeal to my younger targeted audience and may not appeal to an older audience who may
find that the different colours make the magazine more difficult to read. As you can see from my contents
page bellow the three colours I have used besides on my image are yellow, black and white. This is once
again to ensure that my magazine stands out from other magazines when looking through it. I also decided
throughout my magazine to use a black background and this is once again to be different but also stand
out amongst other magazines, I decided to do this after looking at some mix mag magazines where many
of the pages where black, I thought that having black backgrounds was a good idea as it made my
magazine more unique, yet it still looks professional.
Photos
• I have used pictures also to attract my targeted audience to my magazine. I have tried to use artists that
will attract the audience of my magazine. To do this I have ensured that my artists are dressed
appropriately for the genre of my magazine. As you can see from the picture bellow I have dressed my
cover artist in a black T shirt and a snapback, this is so that it will appeal to those who are interested in the
genre of my magazine (Hip Hop /Pop). My cover artist is a rapper and this is why he is dressed like this so
that people who are walking past would see the magazine and almost instantly be able to know what the
genre of magazine it is. The other picture also shows how I have used costume to address the audience, in
this picture I have used a plain black t shirt and dre beat head phones which both are often associated
with Hip hop.
