What Social Group?
White/British mainstream feminine people.
White – Most of the songs and artists in my music magazine
are sung/written and performed by white/British or American
people.
Mainstream – the music style of the music magazine is the
most popular genre in the UK Charts.
Feminine – My artist and advertisements are female based e.g.
Makeup Adverts and Isla Koyle is represented in a very famine
way.

Positive Representations
White/British – Isla Koyle has associated herself with other
popular British artists that are also well known and successful.
Representing this ethnicity as successful and popular.
Mainstream – by the way I have designed my artist as a clean
tidy and fashionable young female I have made the main
stream social group appear to be ‘flawless’ giving a positive
representation of these people from and outsider.
Feminine – as my main artist is female and she is the main
story of the magazine and the media product is revolved
around her she is made to look powerful and still very feminine.
Making feminine culture seem very dominant.

Negative Representations
White/British – As my artist has a very specific look, she only
represents a small sector of the White British population.
Mainstream – As my magazine is based around femininity it
suggests that mainstreamers are female only and not male
which is not true.
Feminine – Isla Koyle has shown her femininity through her
appearance it is representing femininity as your appearance
and not your personality.

Language
White/British – Words are contracted to show that the interview
is targeted at British or English speaking citizens. E.g. won’t,
don’t, it’s
Mainstream – By using superlative words such as exclusive
and biggest is representing mainstream people as the most
superior amongst music listeners.
Feminine – By Isla coming across very politely makes her
seem more feminine. She uses words such as love, surreal and
amazing which show her feminine passion which males can
lack to show.
