A Dill Pickle Critical Analysis
A Dill Pickle by Katherine Mansfield represents the women's pursuit of independence through loneliness. Mansfield captures real–life stories, not ones
fabricated to appeal to the masses. This story takes place in a cafГ©, a couple meets again after 6 years apart. Their meeting emphasizes the women
(Vera's) cynical look onlove and her sensitive personality. The man exudes arrogance and has a way with words. The differences between the two
characters highlight the divergence of their love and the lack of certain personality traits of each character. This unveils one of many reasons why
their relationship would come to an end breaking both of their hearts. Vera doesn't talk much in the text, instead we dive deep into her inner thoughts
and that's where she expresses her true feelings of the past relationship and unravels her teetering feelings for the man, each topic he brings up reminds
her of an unpleasant memory of him from the past but as he talks he turns those horrible memories into good ones, convincing Vera to fall back in love
with him. "But she was thinking how well she remembered that trick of his–the trick of interrupting her–and of how it used to exasperate her six years
ago" (Mansfield, 16). The fact that Mansfield chose to have Vera think "how it used to exasperate her" this shows that it no longer irritated her by the
word choice of "used to" the man has convinced her that it no longer is a point of irritation for her but something she now finds endearing.

Family Story And Origin Of A New Environment
Every family story and origin is unique to the members of the immediate group, while including the traditions passed from generation to generation.
From the scent of their house and clothes, special holidays, vacation spots, memories, what they eat and how it is served; all of these elements of life
are distinct to a family. These elements are incorporated into what is viewed as normal life in a way that we don't see how our lives differ from those
around us, until we are faced with a situation where things are done differently than us. Many families contain multi – cultural backgrounds, therefore
providing generations with traditions that include folklore from different origins. One of the biggest elements of culture how dishes are served and
prepared. If you ever travel, one of the biggest attractions to a new environment is the food that is served in that area. Some food traditions are
difficult to explain and don't make sense to outsiders, but to the family or local group it is a sense of definition and unity through foodways. In
Louisiana especially, with Cajun culture, we see many festivals and events that are food based, and the pride in the locals that serve it. My family, all
born and raised in the South, participate in the spicy food, crawfish boils, jambalaya sales, gumbo cooking events that this culture offers. From a young
age I can remember waking up on a Saturday morning in the fall, feeling the crisp air flow through the house as we had the windows open,

Dear Manger:
I am pleased to present the report you authorized on February 15, 2016, regarding the feasibility of potential Chick–fil–a options for the upcoming
CAT drivers' party.
An analysis of both spicy chicken sandwich and grill chicken sandwich Mansion found that, although both alternatives offered delicious options, spicy
chicken sandwich better met our chosen criteria in cost, choices, and delivery time. It is, therefore, the recommendation that we utilize spicy chicken
sandwich for our upcoming drivers' Chick–fil–a party.
Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to research potential party choices. I appreciate your consideration of my recommendation. Should you
have any questions regarding this report, please do not hesitate to contact me at (703) 505 5555.
Sincerely,
Addisu Gebremariam

False Beliefs
How can false memories influence our interest, preferences and beliefs? How easy is it to be influenced by misinformation?
In the article by Loftus and Bernstein (2005) demonstrated how people can be lead to believe in details and events in their events that never happened.
For instance, participants were given photographs of themselves as young children and encouraged to recall the events that were portrayed in the
photographs. Although, all photos were genuine there was one photo that was fake. Although, family informants insisted that the event in the
photograph never happened to the participant 50% of the participants still reported having memories of the experience and some even reported a
background story on what happened the day. False

Theme Of Literary Realism In A Dill Pickle
The world contains myriads of different people, therefore, it is not unlikely that some feel the need to identify themselves with fictional characters.
Fabricating characters can be perceived as the most intricate part of writing because many consider characters to be the heart of pieces of literature.
Authors establish protagonists and antagonists in their works which gives them the ability to sway the readers in the direction of who to root for. Many
subconsciously discover themselves in fictional characters, this allows them to enjoy their seemingly realistic read further. This is the use of literary
realism – the authentic representation of literature realistically. Connecting with a character makes one further immersed in their reading as they hope
to understand more about not only the reader but themselves. Relatable characters can be vital in literature as it makes the reader feel that their novel or
short story could actually take place. In Katherine Mansfield's short story, "A Dill Pickle", a run in at a cafe between two old lovers is filled with
vacillation. Readers can feel themselves identify with the protagonist, Vera, as she endures a well known uncomfortable situation. During the
realization of lost love, with the aid of literary realism, Mansfield depicts Vera as a relatable character to readers through her personal thoughts,
flashbacks, and her loneliness.
Literary realism is the incorporation of verisimilitude in literature. The utilization of using realistic situations, people, and settings captivates readers as
they can imagine or relate to the story and or the characters. In addition, "realism, which emphasizes the importance of the ordinary, the ordinary
person and the ordinary situation, tends to reject the heroic and the aristocratic and embrace the pedestrian, the comic, and the middle class" (Landow).
Rather than writing novels with predictable and happy endings as well as fantasies, works realism include subject matter that most can apply to
everyday life. After a six–year hiatus between Vera and her unnamed past lover, a chance encounter takes place causing pushed away feelings to be
brought back to surface. Though Vera speaks scarcely, readers understand her through her inner

Time seemed to pass so slowly in the basement. Each day, often felt like an eternity for the children. And as the months slipped away and became
years, it soon became clear that nothing remarkable was going to happen. That was until Anna again heard a disturbance coming from the road below.
She climbed up on the chair and put her face to the glass. And to her dismay, she recognized her mother in the group of people that were being hauled
out of hiding spots and marched off. Anna felt her stomach tie–up in a knot and all at once she screamed out. Afraid she muffled her cries with both of
her hands and whispered, "Oh my God! Mama must have been trying to come and visit us. Where are we taking her? Where are we taking our
mother?" Willy felt tears well–up behind his eyes and all at once pour out down his face. He staggered over to his sister and wrapped his tiny arm
around her shoulder. They sat on the mattress huddled together tightly and wept softly for a long time until Anna wiped at her face and glanced
tenderly over at her brother and looked into his large sad blue eyes that were the color of the sea. And with all the composure that she could muster

Spring Is Right Around The Corner, And It 's Time
Spring is right around the corner, and it 's time to start thinking about the gardening. Whether it be flower beds or a vegetable garden, all your hard
work in the beginning will set you up for an enjoyable summer. Here a few different types of beds that you may want to try. Raised concrete block
vegetable garden You may ask yourself why you would want a raised concrete garden? Concrete blocks absorb the heat all day long and maintain
the root heat long into the night, warm roots have produce many more vegetables for me. You need to measure your space and take this into
consideration when planning your new project. The cost may seem expensive at first, but remember these blocks will last you a life time, so it is
more than likely a one time purchase. I make my concrete block two blocks high, spread out plastic, line the bottom with rocks that I gather
through out the yard or wood line, these are used for proper drainage. Fill with dirt, fertilizer and soil nutrients and plant your plants. You can put a
decorative spin on the blocks by painting them, paint them a plain color or show your artist side and do a mural. What ever you do make it
uniquely yours. You will be so surprised how much more you yield after putting together this garden, It actually doubled what I usually get. Patio
Garden If a huge garden is not your thing, how about a small patio garden? You can do a very manageable, easy to care for garden right on your deck.
Here are some tips if you decide to do

St. Lucy's Home For Girls Raised By Wolf Summary
Throughout life, human kind has always wanted a guidebook: a guide to parenting, or, a guide to growing up. In the short story "St. Lucy's Home for
Girls Raised by Wolves" by Karen Russell, young girls raised by werewolves are sent with the nuns of St. Lucy's to go to school and learn how to
become a part of the human race. The Nuns use a handbook to guide the girls through Lycanthropic Culture Shock. In each stage, Claudette
continuously progresses into becoming part of the human race. In Stage One, Claudette's relation to the epigraph is that she explores her new
environment. She stated, "Everything was new, exciting, and interesting" (Russell, 238). She adapts to human society in this stage by wearing human
clothes and eating cupcakes. In the animal kingdom, cupcakes are not considered animal food; they are more of a human food. Claudette has not...

Once Claudette is in the spotlight, she forgets everything she learned at St. Lucy's. She states, "...a howl clawing its way up my throat" (Russell,
250). Claudette adapts to human culture in this stage by ignoring Jeanette, she only worries about herself, refuses to thank Mirabella to get approval
from the nuns, she does not want to face Mirabella, she looks like a human at the dance, and she tries to mask her feral scent by rubbing a pumpkin
muffin all over her body. In the animal kingdom, members of the pack usually do not ignore each other, they look out for each other, they do not look
human, and they do not try to mask their scent. Claudette has not adapted to human culture in this stage because she had not learned party vocabulary,
she gets nervous when she sees Kyle, she flattens her ears, she narrows her eyes, she forgets everything she has learned once she is under the spotlight,
and she pumps instead of dancing the Sausalito. Humans do not flatten their

Midterm Paper
Rugrats The topic I chose for my paper is about the conspiracy theory about the show in 90s called Rugrats. The Rugrats premiered on August 11,
1991 and it ended in June 4, 2004. The names of the creators of Rugrats are Arlene Klasky, and Gabor Csupo. In the show of the Rugrat's, one of the
babies in show named Tommy. Tommy has parents named Didi and Stu Pickles are based on the creators. Personally I think its really interesting the
creator's made Rugrats based on there lives as parents. The Pickles house in Rugrats are based on original address of klasky 's Csupo animation

When it came down to Character Chuckie or Tommy best friend in the show its said to be similar to Composer Mark Mothersbaugh. In the show
there a bully known as Angelica, she based on memory of Paul 's the producer of Rugrats, of his childhood bully. Each person that made a impact on
there lives have such influence on them, they made characters that are based on there actions. Angelica is a bully, yet you come to understand her crazy
ideas and outcomes toward the other characters in Rugrats. With these characters in Rugrats in mind, you can 't help but feel a connection to them.
The conspiracy theory I found is darker twist in realm of Rugrats. In this theory is based on character Angelica imaginations. Apparently Angelica
was not only having all Rugrats in her head but she is a paranoid schizophrenic(loses based of reality). Chuckie died along with his mother, that the
reason why chuckie 's father Chaz is a wreak and tends breakdown with his nerves over whelming him. Then there is Tommy he is actual a
stillborn, or son that didn 't get to be born. Due to the fact of Tommy, his father Stu pickles he couldn 't help be depressed and obsessed on making
toys in basement where for son he will never have. When it came down to Deville 's known as friends to pickles, they had a abortion, since Angelica
found about it, she did not know the gender of the baby, so she thought of about the twins Phil and lil. Angelica get into the

St. Lucy's Home For Girls Raised By Wolf Summary
In the short story St. Lucy's Home for Girls Raised by Wolves, there are wolf girls that are taken to a Covent to become more humane. The story is
told by the eyes of Claudette. There are five stages to becoming more humanized. She explains every single one in her own words and explains events
that take place during these stages. Claudette has successfully become more human because she has shown signs of more humanity in all the stages
except the first. There are many pieces of evidence in the short story that can support this claim. The first piece of evidence is in Stage 2. (As soon as
we realized that someone higher up in the food chain was watching us, we only wanted to be pleasing in their sight.)(Russell, 241). This shows that the
wolf girls are becoming ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
('Get away!' I screamed.... 'Get away! Get away!')(Russell, 243). It is normal for people to argue and dislike one another. But wolves cannot really
express their hat against each other since they are a pack. This shows that Claudette is growing farther from wolf and more into human by
expressing her dislike for Mirabella. The third piece of evidence is in Stage 5. (I wore my best dress and I brought along some prosciutto and dill
pickles in a picnic basket.) (Russell, 251). Wearing clothes, in respect to the wolf girls, are considered a step toward more human actions. The
girls probably wore rags and old clothes. Also by bringing her own food, she proves that she will not join the family eating the Bull Moose. She is
proving that she will not go back to her old ways. The last piece of evidence is also in Stage 5. ('So,' I said, telling my first human lie. 'I'm home.')
(Russell, 252). Lying is a big part of the human society. In a way, it is in our everyday life. By lying, Claudette proves that she is more human than
wolf by saying it was her "first human lie". This evidence proves that Claudette has successfully become a full human, so to

Eulogy For Grandmother
It was 6:25 AM and I was beginning to wake up. I was on my top bunk of our bunk bed and I said to myself I feel like doing something to get me in
trouble. I crawled out of my sheets trying not to hit my head on the ceiling fan. I jumped off the stairs of the bunk bed onto the old wooden floor.
On impact I heard my sister say i'm hungry from her little princess bed. My sister Izzy and I walked in to the kitten for a meal. She got a tortilla,
cold hotdog, and a dill pickle. I went for a peanut and butter jelly sandwich. After breakfast, I went outside to feed the 4 dogs we had. But be for I
did I got my sandals. I opened the back door leading to the fresh morning air. I hoped down from the cement stairs onto the cold moist grass. With

Man Eats Dogs: Chicago's Hot Dog
Nothing says "Chicago" more than the city's famous hot dog. Though Chicago is the distinguished ballpark food's eponym, "Germany" would have
previously been a better identifier for the standard version. "The history of the hot dog is intertwined with Chicago's growth as a great immigrant city
in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries," states Bruce Kraig in his article dedicated to the handheld food, "Man Eats Dogs: The Hot Dog Stands of
Chicago." The hot dog was brought to Chicago in 1848 by European immigrants and was specifically known as the sausage. The sandwich developed
into one of the Midwestern city's most famous foods and is now known as the Chicago–style hot dog because of its specific garnishes and way it is
prepared. With a delectably ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Specific and unique, the dog's condiments––relish and mustard––and distinctive toppings––chopped onions, tomatoes, a dill pickle spear and
pickled–with–a–kick "sport" peppers––cause it to stand out. The poppy seed bun is a requirement and celery salt is optional, but the hot dog's most
important component is the dog itself. A kosher, pork–free dog was chosen because "of all the sausages for sale, the all–beef frankfurter became the hot
dog of preference thanks to the immerse Jewish migration to America's cities, New York and Chicago chief among them" (Kraig). Kraig identifies
Jewish butcher David Berg and family as pioneers in the hot dog world, crafting "one of Chicago's premier all–beef hot dogs" in 1856. Vienna Sausage
Company, now known as Vienna Beef, focused on the Viennese all

Samuel Ladanyi and Jewish man Emil Reichel. Almost all hot dog stands in Chicago use the Vienna Beef dog, and the company exclusively sells and
produces the sport peppers used on the dogs. The Chicago–style hot dog became the city's namesake because the special all–beef dog and toppings

St. Lucy's Home For Girls Raised By Wolf Chapter Summary
St. Lucy's Home for Girls Raised by Wolves by Karen Russell is the story of a girl named Claudette and her "pack" who are brought into wolf–girl to
human–girl rehabilitation. Claudette has fully adapted to human culture physically, mentally, and emotionally by the end of stage 5 of the
rehabilitation. Mirabella has adapted physically. On her first day, she was given human food, cupcakes. "The deacon handed out some stale cupcakes
and said a quick prayer." (p.227) Even at stage 1, she was able to understand how to eat the food and tell the difference between stale and moist.
Although they tore at them, the woodsmen had managed to put Claudette and the other girls into new jumpers. "We girls ran along the shore, tearing at
our new jumpers... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout stage 2 Claudette and the others began to feel emotions that they have never felt before, they were uncomfortable. "The whole pack was
irritated, bewildered, and depressed. We were uncomfortable and between languages. We had never wanted to run away so badly in our lives."
(p.230) They wanted to run away because they hated it so much, but they knew they couldn't because it would a betrayal of their parents. "Could we
betray our parents by going back to them?" (p.231) Claudette experiences this lavish–dog affection awakened by being around other humans, they only
wanted to please and be seen in good light by those higher up than them. "Being around human had awakened a lavish–dog affection in us. An abasing,
belly–to–the–ground desire to please. As soon as we realized that someone higher up in the food chain was watching us, we only wanted to be
pleasing in their sight." (p.232) These emotions and mental ecstasy made Claudette want to adapt rather than being forced to as in stage 1 and
beginning of stage 2. Claudette soon experienced her first feelings of hatred and jealousy most sighted at Jeanette and Mirabella. "The pack hated
Jeanette, but we hated Mirabelle even more. Jeanette, she hated because she was adapting the most quickly out of all of them and Claudette was
jealous of her. Claudette hated Mirabella for the exact opposite reason, Mirabella wouldn't even try to

Title: Harvesting and Storing Asparagus
Meta description: When your spring crop of asparagus is finally ready for picking, do you know what to do? Find out about harvesting asparagus and

Asparagus spears are ready for picking from early spring through the end of June. Start picking the spears in the third year after planting crowns, but

––Preserving Asparagus
Asparagus can be pickled and stored for up to one year. To pickle one pound (450 mg) of asparagus:
Cut spears into lengths 1 inch (2.5cm) shorter than the depth of the canning jar.
Mix the spears with 1/3 cup (80 milliliters) of salt, set aside for 2 hours, then rinse and dry.
Sterilize the canning jars in boiling water for 10 minutes.
Heat white vinegar, a dash of sugar, dillseed, and mustard seeds in a sauce pan, boiling for one minute.
Place the asparagus shoots into the jar, tips upward. Pour the hot vinegar mix over the asparagus to approximately 1/3 of an inch (.8cm) below the
rim, and seal with a canning jar lid and band.
Process the jars in a water bath, boiling them for 10 minutes. After cooling the jars, check the seal by pressing the center and making sure it does not
move. Put unsealed jars in the refrigerator and eat them within 14 days.
You can also preserve asparagus by blanching it for about 3 minutes and storing it in freezer bags in the

would probably be best if we could walk off some of the food.

We ordered the Lacinato Kale Salad– fresh cut kale, artisanal cheeses, green apple, moonshine raisins, cornbread croutons, cider vinaigrette. We
added bacon to it. Oh my was it good. Thick cut, well done bacon! It just made their Kale Salad all the more delicious, plus we got our greens in.

Examples Of Allusions In To Kill A Mockingbird
IRONY I think this is very ironic. The mob come to kill Tom Robinson Atticus says that he is sleeping, so the mob start to whisper instead of talking
loud. If you are about to kill someone, are you really going to whisper and let them sleep? That's the ironic part. PLOT If Jem, Scout, and Dill had not
have come into this conflict then this series of event would have ended very differently. Scout diffuses this potentially dangerous situation. Scout tries
to connect with the only man she knows in the crowd, Mr. Cunningham. Unknowingly she appeals to the man's emotions (pathos). This forces him to
realize that he must leave Tom alone. AMBIGUITY Why does the world have to be separated into two groups, black and white? Since there are only

I think this trial was very unfair. The only evidence against Tom were two eye witness accounts, of which he denies. Plus, the whole jury is white

One is the phrase "all men are created equal." That phrase was said in the Declaration of Independence. The importance of this allusion, in this
context, is to show that all men are created equal no matter their skin color. The second allusion is Einstein. Einstein was a very smart man who
made many breakthroughs. PLOT This quote show a part of the climax in the Tom Robinson plot line. This is a part of the turning point in the case.
Atticus is urging the jury to look at the facts and disregard the color of tom's skin. But this doesn't happen, Tom gets wrongfully indicted.

Hot Dogs: Hold the Buns Essay
Hot Dogs: Hold the Buns
The stale scent of sweat, dirt, and the scintillating steam of a freshly cooked hot dog waiting to be gobbled up invites fans when stepping into a sport
arena or field. The hot dog is one of America's celebrated entrees whether this deli meat is eaten at a sports event, a picnic, or a family round lunch; but
to me, this versatile frankfurter link is more significant. Growing up, my paternal grandmother must have cooked dozens of hot dogs to satisfy my
midday cravings as a child, and the memory of grandma serving this meal will thrive. Serving the boiled hot dog on a pasta sauce stained plate; it
was always accompanied by the side order of buttered egg noodles and a pickle. Why is this meal so important though? ... Show more content on

Whether it was a cold winter night or a hot summer day, I was greeted with the lingering smell of a home–cooked meal from my grandmother's neutral
colored kitchen. I would always be sure to take my shoes off before crossing the decades old brown tile. Walking into the kitchen, I already know
that the special of the day or rather the special of the years at my grandmother's house was a boiled hot dog with a side of buttered egg noodles and
a dill pickle quarter. As far as I can remember, my grandma would always fill my request to serve this meal, not only because it was a personal
favorite of mine as a child, but because it was a simple yet pleasing meal. At the drop of a hat, grandma would rise from her pink Lazy Boy chair
from the living room, and shuffle in her slippers to the kitchen when lunch time came around. The hot dog was a more than satisfactory meal as a
child for me and the cravings for this entrГ©e is instilled in me. As grandma would boil the link of meat while hovering over her stove, I, along with
my cousin who was just as accustomed to this meal, would wait at the each end of her kitchen table. While grandma would rather make my cousin and
me a healthier meal, she always chose to fill our requests to satisfy our hunger.
Preparation of the hot dog was simple. Grandma would always insist on cutting the hot dog for me or my cousin, even when we were at a mature and
knife appropriate age.

Water Is More Powerful Than Pickle Drinks Essay
Are you familiar with the fact that pickle juice is as healthy or more powerful than the pickles themselves?
Typically, there are vinegar, salt, garlic, onion, and sugar in pickle juice, but it can also include turmeric, cloves, dill, and celery seed.
Ease heartburn
Heartburn can happen after overindulging or eating something spicy or acidic. The vinegar in pickle juice helps treat the heartburn, and it might
encourage your stomach to produce more natural antacids. This helps balance the acidity in your system.
Soothes sunburn
While we all know that aloe cools the burn and promotes healthy skin growth, pickle juice can help soothe the stinging or itching. The salt and vinegar
contents in the juice can have an instant effect for relieving the stinging sensation. A jar of pickles at the beach isn't so strange now, is it!

In addition, the juice of pickles can have the same benefits. So, consider warming some diluted pickle juice and gargle it.
Cleans copper pans
By using some pickle juice and elbow grease you can get rid of the char and dull color the copper pans get from use. Specifically, vinegar contains
acetic acid that can cut through the grime, where as the acid and salt react with the green oxidization, so that they can be brought back to their original
shine.
Adds flavor
You can add some flavor to stray vegetables, such as dried out carrots, red onions or broccoli. Moreover, by leaving them overnight in the jar, the
veggies will have a zesty taste added.
Fertilizes plants
Plants like hydrangeas and rhododendrons prefer acidic soil to help them grow. While hydrangeas are typically blue, they change color depending on
the pH level of the soil. Using pickle juice will give them a purple–ish color to add some color variety to your

The Famous Chicago Style Hot Dogs
In United States, the hotdog is as American as apple pie; however, the sausages were culturally imported from Germany, called Frankfurters and
eventually popularized and renamed ,hotdog, in the U.S. In Chicago, there's a specialty hotdog that almost all Chicagoans and tourist eat. It's so special
that there are over thousand made in small food stands throughout Chicago. On February 8th, 2014, I went to Donald's Famous Hotdogs in Chicago
Illinois. Donald's is a small diner serving soup, sandwiches, and hotdogs. I ordered the best item on the menu, the Chicago–style hotdog. The Chicago
style hotdog stands out from the rest because it's delicious flavor, colorful presentation and variety of condiments.
What separates Donald's Chicago style the other Chicago style hotdog is not the topping but the fundamental idea of hot dog, the sausage. There are two
types of hotdog sausages, "wieners" which tend to contain pork and chicken or turkey. Theses sausages are inexpensive but lack in flavor while
frankfurters or "franks" tend to more expensive, nevertheless are all beef and strongly seasoned. Equally important is the hotdog's casing. Traditional
casing is made from the small intestines of sheep; it's known as "natural casing" franks. These sausages have firm texture and have a signature "snap"
that releases its juicy flavor when bitten. Donald's Chicago–style hotdog is served with an all–beef frank which adds to taste overall. The recognizable

How Does Sea Salt Enhances Salad Dressing?
I often wondered how unhealthy store–bought salad dressing was, but I never bothered to find out until recently. It was just easier to buy a bottle of
dressing rather than make it myself. Unfortunately, once I found out how bad the commercial dressing is, I changed my mind and decided to start
mixing up my own. After I told a few family members what I'd decided, they didn't understand why until I explained that the salad dressing in their
refrigerator was one of the worst things they could be eating. It no longer surprises me that so few people are aware of what's in their salad dressing, so
I've decided to tell them.

The company also popularized the notion of "take–out" food, with their slogan "Less work for Mother".
Modern commercial fast food is highly processed and prepared on a large scale from bulk ingredients using standardized cooking and production
methods and equipment. It is usually rapidly served in cartons or bags or in a plastic wrapping, in a fashion which reduces operating costs by
allowing rapid product identification and counting, promoting longer holding time, avoiding transfer of bacteria, and facilitating order fulfilment. In
most fast food operations, menu items are generally made from processed ingredients prepared at a central supply facilities and then shipped to
individual outlets where they are cooked (usually by grill, microwave, or deep–frying) or assembled in a short amount of time either in anticipation of
upcoming orders (i.e., "to stock") or in response to actual orders (i.e., "to order"). Following standard operating procedures, pre–cooked products are
monitored for freshness and disposed of if holding times become excessive. This process ensures a consistent level of product quality, and is key to
delivering the order quickly to the customer and avoiding labour and equipment costs in the individual stores.

The style of writing in Raymond Carver's short story "They're not your Husband" is minimalistic and affected by Ernst Hemmingway's iceberg theory.
Through a substantial use of paratactic sentences and preponderance at the end of each sentence, Carver succeeds in a minimalistic writing style. The
objective mode of expression the short story is influenced by can be seen in the extensive use of direct speech. Furthermore, the lack of elaborated

False Memories Effects On Human Behavior
One of the most studied topics in the field of psychology is False Memory. In general, false memories are recollections of past events and
circumstances in which the individual believes that it happened even in reality it didn't. According to Cherry (2017), it is important to understand False
memories because our perception of events which didn't even happen in the first place could entail an adverse and even life–changing effects in our
real lives. While these changes could range from a simple alteration of daily routine, some of them could even lead to fatal and disastrous
repercussions especially when unchecked and uncorrected. Following from this, the author of this article believes that it is indeed important to
understand the nature and the effects of false memories on our perspective of reality as well as our daily lives. Thus, in succeeding sections, some of
these effects would be discussed in more detail. And by the end of this article, the author believes that the reason why False Memories could entail
significant changes in our lives, is because memories shape our perception of reality and also the way how we deal with it.
Effects of False Memories on Human Behavior
In the article written by Loftus and Palmer (1974), they discussed how questions asked about a particular event that has happened could affect our
memory's reconstruction of reality. More particularly, they studied a human's perception of the events based on the types of specific details required in
answering a question about the past, and how close it is to the real–life situation. What they found out was that very detailed questions could trick our
brains of adding details which are not there in the first place to our own recollection of what happened before. However, while this example only
shows the effects of questions on our own recollection of reality, other articles discussed how these questions affect ourselves in a much deeper level.
In an article written by Bernstein, Laney, Morris, and Loftus (2005), the authors have discussed how does false memories affectfood consumption
behavior and even food preferences. This study also utilized an approach which is "suggestive", like the one done by Loftus and Palmer

Poetry
A Soldier
By Robert Frost
He is that fallen lance that lies as hurled,
That lies unlifted now, come dew, come rust,
But still lies pointed as it plowed the dust.
If we who sight along it round the world,
See nothing worthy to have been its mark,
It is because like men we look too near,
Forgetting that as fitted to the sphere,
Our missiles always make too short an arc.
They fall, they rip the grass, they intersect
The curve of earth, and striking, break their own;
They make us cringe for metal–point on stone.
But this we know, the obstacle that checked
And tripped the body, shot the spirit on
Further than target ever showed or shone

Young as she is, the stuff
Of her life is a great cargo, and some of it heavy:
I wish her a lucky passage.
But now it is she who pauses,
As if to reject my thought and its easy figure.
A stillness greatens, in which
The whole house seems to be thinking,
And then she is at it again with a bunched clamor
Of strokes, and again is silent.
I remember the dazed starling
Which was trapped in that very room, two years ago;
How we stole in, lifted a sash
And retreated, not to affright it;
And how for a helpless hour, through the crack of the door,
We watched the sleek, wild, dark
And iridescent creature
Batter against the brilliance, drop like a glove
To the hard floor, or the desk–top,
And wait then, humped and bloody,
For the wits to try it again; and how our spirits
Rose when, suddenly sure,
It lifted off from a chair–back,
Beating a smooth course for the right window
And clearing the sill of the world.
It is always a matter, my darling,
Of life or death, as I had forgotten. I wish
What I wished you before, but harder.

What are deep? The ocean and truth.

Personal Reflective Essay: The Bench
The Bench
Last Spring, the bench became my best friend. After beating out eight other pitchers to make the varsity baseball team, I was optimistic in my ability
to help the team as a pitcher. However, it did not take long for me to figure out that splinters, not the opposing team, would be my toughest challenge.
After being a main contributor to my JV and Freshman teams, I had to swallow my pride and adjust to my new role on a winning team. This
adjustment would prove to be difficult. While I was successful pitching in limited innings, there were little opportunities for me in our superb pitching
staff. As the bond between the bench and I grew stronger each game, I began to question my role and importance to the team. If I was not getting to

still however, has yet to fully transition from a wolf girl, into the proper girl of society. In stage one (1) when Claudette first arived at St. Lucys, she
had yet to figure out how to adapt to human–society. She scrambled throughout the rooms, "over turning dresser drawers, pawning through the neat
piles of the stage three (3) girls' starched underwear..." (Russell, 237). Claudette hadn't begun to walk on all fours until the middle of stage two (2).
However Claudette began to comprehend the idea of human food, "the deacon handed out stale cupcakes...". In this stage Claudette has improved, in a
sense. However, has a lot more developing to go. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only did she begin to walk on two (2) feet, instead of four (4), but she also now reads at a fifth (5th) grade level. Claudette learns to read far
before Jeanette (her older sister). The beginning of stage three (3), Claudette begins to "take dainting bites of peas and borscht" (Russell, 244). Which
shows that she is no longer eating like a wild animal, as she had previously. Claudette "stuggles to conjure up a picture of her mother. A black shadow
running behind the watery screen of pines" (Russell, 247). This indicates development, and a sense of displacement from her original state of mind.
However, Claudette still is "experiencing a strong sense of dislocation." (Russell, 239). Which indicates that she is still not completely willing to adapt

A Dill Pickle Critical Analysis

  • 1. A Dill Pickle Critical Analysis A Dill Pickle by Katherine Mansfield represents the women's pursuit of independence through loneliness. Mansfield captures real–life stories, not ones fabricated to appeal to the masses. This story takes place in a cafГ©, a couple meets again after 6 years apart. Their meeting emphasizes the women (Vera's) cynical look onlove and her sensitive personality. The man exudes arrogance and has a way with words. The differences between the two characters highlight the divergence of their love and the lack of certain personality traits of each character. This unveils one of many reasons why their relationship would come to an end breaking both of their hearts. Vera doesn't talk much in the text, instead we dive deep into her inner thoughts and that's where she expresses her true feelings of the past relationship and unravels her teetering feelings for the man, each topic he brings up reminds her of an unpleasant memory of him from the past but as he talks he turns those horrible memories into good ones, convincing Vera to fall back in love with him. "But she was thinking how well she remembered that trick of his–the trick of interrupting her–and of how it used to exasperate her six years ago" (Mansfield, 16). The fact that Mansfield chose to have Vera think "how it used to exasperate her" this shows that it no longer irritated her by the word choice of "used to" the man has convinced her that it no longer is a point of irritation for her but something she now finds endearing. ... • 2. Family Story And Origin Of A New Environment Every family story and origin is unique to the members of the immediate group, while including the traditions passed from generation to generation. From the scent of their house and clothes, special holidays, vacation spots, memories, what they eat and how it is served; all of these elements of life are distinct to a family. These elements are incorporated into what is viewed as normal life in a way that we don't see how our lives differ from those around us, until we are faced with a situation where things are done differently than us. Many families contain multi – cultural backgrounds, therefore providing generations with traditions that include folklore from different origins. One of the biggest elements of culture how dishes are served and prepared. If you ever travel, one of the biggest attractions to a new environment is the food that is served in that area. Some food traditions are difficult to explain and don't make sense to outsiders, but to the family or local group it is a sense of definition and unity through foodways. In Louisiana especially, with Cajun culture, we see many festivals and events that are food based, and the pride in the locals that serve it. My family, all born and raised in the South, participate in the spicy food, crawfish boils, jambalaya sales, gumbo cooking events that this culture offers. From a young age I can remember waking up on a Saturday morning in the fall, feeling the crisp air flow through the house as we had the windows open, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An analysis of both spicy chicken sandwich and grill chicken sandwich Mansion found that, although both alternatives offered delicious options, spicy chicken sandwich better met our chosen criteria in cost, choices, and delivery time. It is, therefore, the recommendation that we utilize spicy chicken sandwich for our upcoming drivers' Chick–fil–a party. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to research potential party choices. In the article by Loftus and Bernstein (2005) demonstrated how people can be lead to believe in details and events in their events that never happened. For instance, participants were given photographs of themselves as young children and encouraged to recall the events that were portrayed in the photographs. Although, all photos were genuine there was one photo that was fake. Although, family informants insisted that the event in the photograph never happened to the participant 50% of the participants still reported having memories of the experience and some even reported a background story on what happened the day. • 6. Theme Of Literary Realism In A Dill Pickle The world contains myriads of different people, therefore, it is not unlikely that some feel the need to identify themselves with fictional characters. Fabricating characters can be perceived as the most intricate part of writing because many consider characters to be the heart of pieces of literature. Authors establish protagonists and antagonists in their works which gives them the ability to sway the readers in the direction of who to root for. Many subconsciously discover themselves in fictional characters, this allows them to enjoy their seemingly realistic read further. This is the use of literary realism – the authentic representation of literature realistically. Connecting with a character makes one further immersed in their reading as they hope to understand more about not only the reader but themselves. Relatable characters can be vital in literature as it makes the reader feel that their novel or short story could actually take place. In Katherine Mansfield's short story, "A Dill Pickle", a run in at a cafe between two old lovers is filled with vacillation. Readers can feel themselves identify with the protagonist, Vera, as she endures a well known uncomfortable situation. During the realization of lost love, with the aid of literary realism, Mansfield depicts Vera as a relatable character to readers through her personal thoughts, flashbacks, and her loneliness. Literary realism is the incorporation of verisimilitude in literature. The utilization of using realistic situations, people, and settings captivates readers as they can imagine or relate to the story and or the characters. In addition, "realism, which emphasizes the importance of the ordinary, the ordinary person and the ordinary situation, tends to reject the heroic and the aristocratic and embrace the pedestrian, the comic, and the middle class" (Landow). Rather than writing novels with predictable and happy endings as well as fantasies, works realism include subject matter that most can apply to everyday life. After a six–year hiatus between Vera and her unnamed past lover, a chance encounter takes place causing pushed away feelings to be brought back to surface. Though Vera speaks scarcely, readers understand her through her inner ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Night Time seemed to pass so slowly in the basement. Each day, often felt like an eternity for the children. And as the months slipped away and became years, it soon became clear that nothing remarkable was going to happen. That was until Anna again heard a disturbance coming from the road below. She climbed up on the chair and put her face to the glass. And to her dismay, she recognized her mother in the group of people that were being hauled out of hiding spots and marched off. Anna felt her stomach tie–up in a knot and all at once she screamed out. Afraid she muffled her cries with both of her hands and whispered, "Oh my God! Mama must have been trying to come and visit us. Where are we taking her? Where are we taking our mother?" Willy felt tears well–up behind his eyes and all at once pour out down his face. He staggered over to his sister and wrapped his tiny arm around her shoulder. They sat on the mattress huddled together tightly and wept softly for a long time until Anna wiped at her face and glanced tenderly over at her brother and looked into his large sad blue eyes that were the color of the sea. And with all the composure that she could muster mumbled whispered, "Willy do you remember last year when papa lit a candle and placed it into the holder with nine–branches? We all gathered around and sang that beautiful song and ate pancakes and applesauce. Afterwards Rachel snatched up the cake that mama had made and smeared it all over her face? • 8. Spring Is Right Around The Corner, And It 's Time Spring is right around the corner, and it 's time to start thinking about the gardening. Whether it be flower beds or a vegetable garden, all your hard work in the beginning will set you up for an enjoyable summer. Here a few different types of beds that you may want to try. Raised concrete block vegetable garden You may ask yourself why you would want a raised concrete garden? Concrete blocks absorb the heat all day long and maintain the root heat long into the night, warm roots have produce many more vegetables for me. You need to measure your space and take this into consideration when planning your new project. The cost may seem expensive at first, but remember these blocks will last you a life time, so it is more than likely a one time purchase. I make my concrete block two blocks high, spread out plastic, line the bottom with rocks that I gather through out the yard or wood line, these are used for proper drainage. Fill with dirt, fertilizer and soil nutrients and plant your plants. You can put a decorative spin on the blocks by painting them, paint them a plain color or show your artist side and do a mural. What ever you do make it uniquely yours. You will be so surprised how much more you yield after putting together this garden, It actually doubled what I usually get. Patio Garden If a huge garden is not your thing, how about a small patio garden? You can do a very manageable, easy to care for garden right on your deck. Here are some tips if you decide to do ... • 9. St. Lucy's Home For Girls Raised By Wolf Summary Throughout life, human kind has always wanted a guidebook: a guide to parenting, or, a guide to growing up. In the short story "St. Lucy's Home for Girls Raised by Wolves" by Karen Russell, young girls raised by werewolves are sent with the nuns of St. Lucy's to go to school and learn how to become a part of the human race. The Nuns use a handbook to guide the girls through Lycanthropic Culture Shock. In each stage, Claudette continuously progresses into becoming part of the human race. In Stage One, Claudette's relation to the epigraph is that she explores her new environment. She stated, "Everything was new, exciting, and interesting" (Russell, 238). She adapts to human society in this stage by wearing human clothes and eating cupcakes. In the animal kingdom, cupcakes are not considered animal food; they are more of a human food. She states, "...a howl clawing its way up my throat" (Russell, 250). Claudette adapts to human culture in this stage by ignoring Jeanette, she only worries about herself, refuses to thank Mirabella to get approval from the nuns, she does not want to face Mirabella, she looks like a human at the dance, and she tries to mask her feral scent by rubbing a pumpkin muffin all over her body. In the animal kingdom, members of the pack usually do not ignore each other, they look out for each other, they do not look human, and they do not try to mask their scent. Claudette has not adapted to human culture in this stage because she had not learned party vocabulary, she gets nervous when she sees Kyle, she flattens her ears, she narrows her eyes, she forgets everything she has learned once she is under the spotlight, and she pumps instead of dancing the Sausalito. • 11. St. Lucy's Home For Girls Raised By Wolf Summary In the short story St. Lucy's Home for Girls Raised by Wolves, there are wolf girls that are taken to a Covent to become more humane. The story is told by the eyes of Claudette. There are five stages to becoming more humanized. She explains every single one in her own words and explains events that take place during these stages. Claudette has successfully become more human because she has shown signs of more humanity in all the stages except the first. There are many pieces of evidence in the short story that can support this claim. The first piece of evidence is in Stage 2. (As soon as we realized that someone higher up in the food chain was watching us, we only wanted to be pleasing in their sight.)(Russell, 241). This shows that the wolf girls are becoming ... Wearing clothes, in respect to the wolf girls, are considered a step toward more human actions. The girls probably wore rags and old clothes. The last piece of evidence is also in Stage 5. ('So,' I said, telling my first human lie. 'I'm home.') (Russell, 252). Lying is a big part of the human society. In a way, it is in our everyday life. Though Chicago is the distinguished ballpark food's eponym, "Germany" would have previously been a better identifier for the standard version. "The history of the hot dog is intertwined with Chicago's growth as a great immigrant city in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries," states Bruce Kraig in his article dedicated to the handheld food, "Man Eats Dogs: The Hot Dog Stands of Chicago." The hot dog was brought to Chicago in 1848 by European immigrants and was specifically known as the sausage. On her first day, she was given human food, cupcakes. "The deacon handed out some stale cupcakes and said a quick prayer." • 32. False Memories Effects On Human Behavior One of the most studied topics in the field of psychology is False Memory. In general, false memories are recollections of past events and circumstances in which the individual believes that it happened even in reality it didn't. According to Cherry (2017), it is important to understand False memories because our perception of events which didn't even happen in the first place could entail an adverse and even life–changing effects in our real lives. While these changes could range from a simple alteration of daily routine, some of them could even lead to fatal and disastrous repercussions especially when unchecked and uncorrected. Following from this, the author of this article believes that it is indeed important to understand the nature and the effects of false memories on our perspective of reality as well as our daily lives. Thus, in succeeding sections, some of these effects would be discussed in more detail. And by the end of this article, the author believes that the reason why False Memories could entail significant changes in our lives, is because memories shape our perception of reality and also the way how we deal with it. Effects of False Memories on Human Behavior In the article written by Loftus and Palmer (1974), they discussed how questions asked about a particular event that has happened could affect our memory's reconstruction of reality. More particularly, they studied a human's perception of the events based on the types of specific details required in answering a question about the past, and how close it is to the real–life situation. What they found out was that very detailed questions could trick our brains of adding details which are not there in the first place to our own recollection of what happened before. However, while this example only shows the effects of questions on our own recollection of reality, other articles discussed how these questions affect ourselves in a much deeper level. In an article written by Bernstein, Laney, Morris, and Loftus (2005), the authors have discussed how does false memories affectfood consumption behavior and even food preferences. This study also utilized an approach which is "suggestive", like the one done by Loftus and Palmer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If we who sight along it round the world, See nothing worthy to have been its mark, It is because like men we look too near, Forgetting that as fitted to the sphere, Our missiles always make too short an arc. They fall, they rip the grass, they intersect The curve of earth, and striking, break their own; They make us cringe for metal–point on stone. A stillness greatens, in which The whole house seems to be thinking, And then she is at it again with a bunched clamor Of strokes, and again is silent. I remember the dazed starling Which was trapped in that very room, two years ago; How we stole in, lifted a sash And retreated, not to affright it; And how for a helpless hour, through the crack of the door, We watched the sleek, wild, dark And iridescent creature Batter against the brilliance, drop like a glove To the hard floor, or the desk–top, And wait then, humped and bloody, For the wits to try it again; and how our spirits Rose when, suddenly sure, It lifted off from a chair–back, Beating a smooth course for the right window And clearing the sill of the world. It is always a matter, my darling, Of life or death, as I had forgotten. I wish What I wished you before, but harder. What are frail? Spring blossoms and youth; What are deep? The ocean and truth. How can sorrow be heavy as said in the poem? Today and Tomorrow be brief? Youth be frail? And truth be deep?

Jennifer Thompson Picking Cotton Summary Picking Cotton, by Jennifer Thompson–Cannino and Ronald Cotton (with Erin Torneo) was chosen as the Common Reading Experience book for the 2015–2016 Freshman class under UNCP's First Year Initiatives Program. There are a lot of lessons to be learned from the experiences of Thompson–Cannino and Cotton. The presentation they gave on the UNCP campus was a mere cliff–notes version of the book, (although it was worth attending to meet them, listen to their stories, and to hear Mr. Cotton sing the song that he wrote). • 37. Personal Reflective Essay: The Bench The Bench Last Spring, the bench became my best friend. After beating out eight other pitchers to make the varsity baseball team, I was optimistic in my ability to help the team as a pitcher. However, it did not take long for me to figure out that splinters, not the opposing team, would be my toughest challenge. After being a main contributor to my JV and Freshman teams, I had to swallow my pride and adjust to my new role on a winning team. This adjustment would prove to be difficult. While I was successful pitching in limited innings, there were little opportunities for me in our superb pitching staff. As the bond between the bench and I grew stronger each game, I began to question my role and importance to the team. If I was not getting to help my team on the pitching mound, I figured I had to help in other ways. First, I established a "motto of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But still, like trying to help my team on the bench, it served a challenge. As a Calculus student, trying to explain and conceptualize factoring to an Algebra 1 student was tougher than calculating any type of derivative. Relearning those pesky alkanes, esters, and side chains in chemistry was not my ideal Friday night, but proved worthwhile when I helped my teammate raise his grade to a B. Microbrewery Research Paper Beyond the microbrewery, a growing number of households are using fermentation techniques that preserve fruits and vegetables all year long, without the use of electricity. Long before the advent of refrigeration, ancient food preservation techniques, one being fermentation, were utilized to make fruits and vegetables safe for consumption available long after the growing season had ended. It is still used by many cultures today to produce crunchy pickles, tangy fruit chutneys and zesty sauerkraut. Claudette, who is both the middle child and the narator struggles with fully developing through out the story. Once she "graduates" from St. Lucys she visits her parents in the forest one last time. She scrambled throughout the rooms, "over turning dresser drawers, pawning through the neat piles of the stage three (3) girls' starched underwear..." (Russell, 237). Claudette hadn't begun to walk on all fours until the middle of stage two (2). However Claudette began to comprehend the idea of human food, "the deacon handed out stale cupcakes...".
