The Cab Rank Rule
Research Essay
Introduction
Australia has taken from English Law in adopting the cab rank rule, encoded in The Victorian Bar Incorporated
Practice Rules 2009 (Vic). This essay will discuss the application of the rule, the strengths and weaknesses and will
conclude to discuss why the rule should remain an integral part of the Bar despite many calls for its abolition.
What is the "cab rank principle"?
The cab rank rule states that a lawyer practicing solely as a barrister must accept a brief in a field they profess to
practice. Barristers are professionally bound by this duty if the brief is in the barrister's capacity, skill and expertise;

The second rationale behind the cab rank rule is that is protects barristers from adverse consequences that could arise
from accepting a contentious brief. A barrister may be subjected to public scrutiny or criticism from those who
believe the barrister is sympathizing with a repugnant criminal. Yet, with the existence of the cab rank rule, the
obligation to accept the brief provides the barrister with a justification. In theory, this is an essential strength of the
cab rank rule, however, in practice in may be redundant. This rationale is on the premise that the layperson is aware
of the cab rank rule, a proposition that is far from the truth. In 2010, Brian Walters, a QC, was running for the Greens
and his Labor opponent attacked him for once taking a brief for a brown coal company. The fact that a politician is
not aware of the cab rank rule suggests that members of the general public would also be unaware of the rule, thereby
denying barristers the protection the rule purports to give.
Lastly, a barrister must refuse to accept a brief if they would be placed in a conflict of interest or would otherwise be
detrimental to the administration of justice. However, the barrister holding strong moral views inconsistent with the

Through the years of school students go through many teachers which are all very different in their teaching methods
and how they grade. Some teachers offer a lot of opportunities to significantly boost a student's grade while others
are very strict about how they grade, for example, Student A is the exact same as Student B, but one of them has a
significantly higher GPA because they won the teacher lottery. Until last year a lot of the computer in Plano ISD were
probably older than the students using them, this brings up another major inequality. America is a very diverse

Why the Rank Structure and Chain of Command Are Important
There are a lot of reasons for the rank structure and the chain of command. Every reason that I am going to explain in
this essay is very important. I am going to separate them into two paragraphs. The first paragraph will be about the

But there is one simple way to fix that problem that a lot of us lower enlisted seem to have. If the person you are
about to talk to is not your chief or one of the other chiefs in your platoon. Do not talk to them unless they speak to
you first. And all you really need to say to them is check, roger, hooah. In the past year and three months, I have had
a lot of trouble realizing this. I tend to do the wrong thing and go talk to who I need to talk to without going about it
the right way. If you want to talk to your commander, you need to talk to you chief, then your platoon sergeant, then
your first sergeant, then you can talk to your commander. This may seem like a lot of work. But in all actuality if the
problem that you have is able to be fixed beforehand, then it was all worth the work. Yes there are going to be
situations when you know that it can only be fixed by talking to the highest person in the chain of command, but the
chain of command needs to know what is going on so that they can try to help you and explain the situation to the

Racism: If you use too much racism it will be a warn, temp–mute for 15 minutes, then 30 minutes. After that if the

I should be accepted, because I am very experienced with everything surrounding the aura of being staff and the HCF
community. I have been staff on many different servers and i have been doing it for such a long time that i know
pretty much everything you need to know to be a staff member right of the top! From observing a player for
suspicion to banning them after you get your lead in a screen share, I am the guy for the job! Being professional
about EVERYTHING is my #1 rule, because this can cause commotion on the server and even with fellow staff

I will also be able to answer better questions than other staff members because I am very familiar with factions,
creative, and skyblock. I have noticed that some helpers arnt stopping the spam, they arnt answering questions, they

Each rank in the British Army can be achieved with progress, experience and hard work during the individuals stay
in the army. There are two sets of ranks being 'Officer Ranks' and 'Other Ranks.' Likewise to the police, the higher
the rank is the more responsibility and authority they have. These ranks show the army's structure also defining there
role and responsibilities.
The first rank is the 'private' rank which is what new recruits start at and is the lowest rank. The rank is gained after
the individual has completed their initial basic training. A private's main responsibility is to carry out orders given to
them by their superiors.
Next is the Lance Corporal rank which is a non–commissioned officer's lowest rank and they command around 4 or

According to ?AR 600–8–22 / 25 June 2015 para 3–1 c: The decision to award an individual a decoration and the
decision as to which award is appropriate are both subjective decisions made by the commander having award
approval authority. Awards for meritorious achievement or service will not be based upon the grade of the intended
recipient. Rather, the award should reflect both the individual?s level of responsibility and his or her manner of
performance. The degree to which an individual?s achievement or service enhanced the readiness or effectiveness of
his or her organization will be the leading factor?.
I think the AR 600–8–22 is very clear on the guidance for awards and we need to change the way awards are written
and ensure the commander knows and understands the process.
