"The process through which people create and manage their relationships, exercising mutual
responsibility in creating meaning." (Pg. 5) To be an effective communicator, it is vital that the
person possesses and practices effective interpersonal/communicational skills. Over this semester,
important interpersonal skills have been developed through a series of six workshops and assessed
in two pieces of assessment. First position, second position and third position skills were performed.
This reflective essay provides a critical analysis of my interpersonal skills developmental process of
the three skills listed above; including my strengths, weakness and improvements.
When in the receiving position of a conversation, the main aim is to retrieve information from the
sender in an understandable and cohesive way; which ultimately creates a meaningful connection
between the two people. There are a number of skills involved in effective listening. Bebe, S,

important central roles over time. Women have transitioned from submissive conservative roles to

take the case to court against this institution, and we get to see an aspect of the control of population
in the United States, and particularly the control of Hispanic childbirths. In the article of Elena R.
Gutierrez, she also talks about the situation of the births control, and she uses information and
statements from the author John Tanton who believed in the control of population, to avoid over
population, and the possible lack of resources for the Americans because of the immigrants having
many babies here in the United States. Both pieces of information, (the film and the article) clearly
show us the stereotypes about Latinas and the way they were, and continue to be treated. The film

In 1981, the Marciano brothers arrived in Los Angeles and opened a clothing store. The brothers
who were originally from South France had previously owned a twelve chain retail store in France.
Jeans were among some of the merchandise in the brother's store. The jeans were designed by
Georges Marciano, they called named the jeans GUESS because it was easy for the brothers to
pronounce. These jeans were intended to have a tight fit and feature zippers near the ankles. The

American parenting styles are more hyper–attentive opposed to the French relaxed parenting style.
"Cadre" is the framework of French parenting. They have consistent strict rules about certain things
but they are relaxed about the rest. This allows the child to learn responsibility in which makes them
feel empowered. French parenting encourages a higher level of trust and the ability for children to
do things by themselves. American parents groom their children to be competitive right from the
start. Wanting them to be the "best" at everything. They also have the idea that they have to be by

Book Review On Bringing Up Bebe
If you ask me something about baby's sleep, I can confidently tell you, that with my first child I've
seen it all. Well, at least our sleep issues throughout these years gave me the right to say so.
By no means, I consider myself a sleep expert. But in a constant search for the right approach to
tackle short naps, bedtime battles and night wakings, there are definitely some advices that I can
give you.

Two years ago, I stumbled upon a very insightful book. The book is called Bringing Up Bébé and it
describes the parenting approach in France. I was stunned after I read that French kids start sleeping
through the night as early as 6 weeks old. What intrigued me even more, is that French parents
achieved this not by using cry–it–out technique, which they don't condone.
The book immediately got me thinking if I could achieve such sleep success by using French
methods.

Through songs many people express their feelings of the world threw the words they have wrote.
Many songs talk about civil rights of the people and how change should be an option. In the world
we live in today we have social issues that people have to face such as: police brutality, racial
profiling, discrimination etc. Through Kendrick Lamar, Public Enemy, The Game, Bebe Winans,
and N.W.A they will use their voice as a weapon for change among all people. Music with a
message thrives in a live setting, for obvious reasons, and many politically conscious musicians aim
to channel the heightened emotions
Kendrick Lamar's song "Alright" talks about race and how African Americans are being targeted and
profiled. The song tells about the gun violence and police brutality that is effecting our community,
"And we hate Popo, wanna kill us dead in the street for sure, n..." (Line 35). This quote out of his
song is significant because in the world we live in someone gets killed every day for the color of
their skin color or a profile that someone made off assumptions. As the song goes he tell about how
African Americans were discriminated. "When you know, we been hurt, been down before, n... /
When our pride was low, lookin' at the world like, "where do we go, n...?"' (Line 33–34).
Throughout the years African Americans are looked down on to the point where they do not know

I would categorize my parenting style as an authoritative because I show the characteristics listed
with this style. An authoritative parent is defined as being firm, setting clear and consistent limits,
but who try to reason with their children, giving explanations for why they should behave in a

I believe my experience and culture impact my parenting styles as well. My experience would be the
way my parents raised me, my mother was a authoritarian and my father was permissive. It was an
odd mix but it worked out well, my mother was very strict and I never disobeyed her because I knew
the consequences. She was not abusive, but she had her ways of making sure I did what I was told
and I appreciate it know as I look back. My father was permissive and was the one who would let
me get away with some of the things I did, for example if I snuck an extra cookie from the jar he

families to tell the stories on how illegality and gender shape their lives. In Chapter five, Abrego
accurately captures the gender roles of immigrant parents in transnational families. Abrego makes it
clear that there are inequalities between genders, men have always been privileged individuals, and
regardless of the work, they make more money when compared to women. Through her interviews
Abrego provides evidence for the structural reality of gender–stratified opportunities and the gender
roles that benefit men and constrain women. According to Abrego, "For women, the three most
common occupational sectors were domestic, garment and hotel house–keeping work (102). With
this we can see that how the occupations of women are tied to their gender roles. Women are

After a long day of working retail in Manhattan's fashion–forward neighborhood of Soho, going
home tends to be the best part of my day. I usually take the length of my fifteen minute walk home

populated the streets earlier in the day cozying up in their chic, chandelier adorned high–rises,
furnished with a coffee table stacked with vintage editions of Vogue, blogging about their most
recent fashion finds. Recently, as I mindlessly admired the window displays of the shops lining
Broadway, I noticed that the large windows of Bebe were barren; not because a new window display
was being installed, but because they had closed this particular location, indefinitely. Although, I
haven 't purchased clothing from Bebe in over a decade, I couldn 't help but feel nostalgic about my

I've read this book 2 years ago. I've heard so many flattering reviews that I decided to give it a try.
The first thing that might come to your mind when reading it, is that the author tries to demoralize
the way American parents have used to raise their kids. But in fact, the book is just a good
comparison of how Amricans and French people tend to do things in regards to pregnancy and
parenting.
Each book we read is a source of improvement and I see Bringing Up Bebe to be such book.
It's really fascinating how things are different in other part of the world. Both USA and France are
world leading developed countries with so many things in common. Yet, when it comes to all things
pregnancy, childbirth and raising kids, French people are onto something completely different.

Analysis Of The Movie ' The Snow Queen '
My daughter and I went to the play "The Snow Queen" at the Marquis Theater in Northville,
Michigan on December 10, 2016. The Marquis Theater is a beautifully restored historic landmark.
Upon entering, you are transported back to an earlier time. The lobby features the original french
doors, the stained glass windows, and the old fashioned ticket booth. The theatre is a victorian
design that has two aisle ways with red upholstered seats on the left, right, and middle. The theater is
quaint in size but that only adds to the magical allusion that is created when you watch "The Snow
Queen."
"The Snow Queen" is produced by Chrisina Zayti who also is the technical director for the play. She
is an Eastern Michigan Alumni and has been at the Marquis Theatre for quite some time. Yasmine
Jaffri is the director and writer and works with Elaine Liverance who is the musical director,
accompanist, and composer for the show. "The Snow Queen" has five main characters and many
supporting character that are mostly children. The character of Snow Queen, the antagonist, was
acted by Esther Jentzen another Eastern alumni who was making her debut on the Marquis Theatre's
stage. Gina Karkoski plays Bebe the protagonist in the story and best friends to Louie, who is played
by Emilee Theofanopoulos. The last main character is Rizzle played by Joshua Garreston is a
reindeer that helps Bebe on her quest to find Louie. There are three casts that perform in the play;

Am I wrong for calling the "Black Star Elephant" album by Nico & Vinz one of the best pop albums
of 2014? I believe am not wrong. That album was a masterpiece and they continue in its successful
footsteps with their latest song that features Bebe Rexha and Kid Ink. The song is titled "That's How
You Know" and the perfectly blending duo does what they do best before they let Bebe and Kid Ink
put their art on it.
"That's how you know" is a very captivating song. It is fun, educative and entertaining all at the
same time. I see this song becoming a hit with circles of people as it portrays very relatable

Bebe Rexha does the second verse and she had the best verse for me. The lady on the song killed it.

the matrix coding," sings Bebe. Pretty impressive right? Hell yeah. Bebe definitely had the most
exciting verse on the song. Nico & Vinz come back for the third verse then Kid Ink does the last
verse.
Kid Ink continues to display an exceptional level of comfort with any style of music he is invited to
feature on. From the guitar the song is sang on, it is hard to imagine what Kid Ink's verse would
flow like but Kid Ink imposingly laid his verse. The flow was well paced to match the guitar and the
lyrics also demonstrate the perfect "that's how you know you f**ked up" situation. The final chorus
comes in after his verse and Bebe adds superb background vocals for this one. Her vocals will send
chills allover your body – they are that amazing.
"That's how you know" is that reunion song as you all tell stories about how life turned out and if
you messed it up, the entire group will have to sing for you the chorus of this song. It would be
perfect for that occasion. Nico & Vinz continue to give us music that's not only entertaining, but

The fact that he's standing there that makes us pay closer attention to her. At the bottom of this
picture there's caption that catches your eye "Nina in NYC. Where does the night take you? ". This
question and the writing across the second going into third frame (9pm to 5am: Obey all the rules,
you miss all the fun) demands us to pay attention through an open question and a rebellious
overtone and essentially takes us to the last frame. In accordance with Fowles's theory everything
I've mentioned grabbed our attention and actually takes us to the next frame.
This last picture of the ad was introduced by a passage from the second to third frame stating, "9pm
to 5am: Obey all the rules, you miss all the fun". This in words is the essence of the ad letting you
know that the pictures are a timeline, and it also says to live a little without being direct. Here the
woman is on her knees in the middle of the bed. By centering the woman in the bed looking in what
we perceive is the morning light we have no choice but to give this attention. Fowles says
advertisers will exhibit the models, in their beauty and here we have a beautiful woman in the
morning light sun ray making her face glow. Behind the woman in the bed very inconspicuous like
is her date also basking in the morning sun. In like all the frames her eyes never meet the camera
which makes you pay attention to her. This action alone draws you in. This was all

Undocuscholar Coalition Reflection
One of the speakers that I was able to connect to was the SSU UndocuScholar Coalition, I'm also an
undocumented student and I was able to share my experiences with these speakers. I can speak for
myself, when I first came to SSU, I experienced some discrimination because I'm an undocumented
student, and because I'm brown. It sounds ridiculous that these things still happen, specially here at
Sonoma State University. At some point I felt like dropping out because of how I was treated, but I
told myself I'm better than them, and I'm going to prove them wrong. It's not an easy journey to
college for undocumented students, specially for first generation students, who have never been
exposed to this type of environment. Not just in education but we also struggle with having some
type of representation on this country. Specially now with the new president we have, we don't feel
safe anymore, we are not criminals or rapist, we just want to be educated and pursue a career to have

Besides all the homophobia and discrimination that some people in the LGBTQ community receive,
people of color receive even more just for the fact the they're people of color. In communities
where's mostly Latinos, there's more homophobia, specially because there's this "Machismo" thing
that still happens, even though we are in the 21st century. Some ways that people deiced to let their
feelings out is by art, art is piece of life that you can't really go against or ague with. Art was made
to help people, express their feelings by drawing them out. People in the LGBTQ community use art
as a way to express how they feel, and that they're also have the right love like everyone

Quantitative Analysis For Business Class Studying For Week...
The Learning Team – A (LTA) in the Quantitative Analysis for Business class studying for Week
Four was both interesting and challenging for the team members. The members were comfortable
and uncomfortable with different and similar topics (steps in testing research hypothesis, comparing
means of two or more groups, and calculating the correlation between two variables). LTA reflects
back over the previous weeks studying and week's four topics. LTA member also expresses and
relates how the application is applied in his/her chosen field.
Previous Week's Reflection
Overall LTA discovered statistics consist of calculating everyday numerical data. Statistics consist of
classifying, analyzing, summarizing, organizing, and interpreting numerical data, according to
(McClave, Benson, & Sincich, 2011, p. 3). The team also discovered the following from the authors
among other pertinent information: Descriptive statistics. Discovered how to use numerical and
graph methods. Inferential statistics. Discovered how to use sample data to make predictions,
estimates, decisions, and other generalization regarding a larger set of data. Fundamental elements
of statistics. (1) Experimental units, (2) Population (3) Variable, (4) Samples, and (5) Statistical
inference.
During week four, LTA discovered the steps involve in testing research hypothesis and how to
accomplish this task. The learning team discovered the importance and how to prove and disprove
three research questions. The

Mexican Men In The Bracero Jigsaw
The U.S. Government historically oppressed Latino Immigrants through exploitation of Mexican
men during the Bracero program, and discrimination through arbitrary sterilization of Latino
women. Mexican men were sent to U.S. to work as a remedy of the WWII and were mistreated and
exploited in the process. In the Bracero Jigsaw, the first reading explains that the Bracero program,
signed in 1942 between Mexican and American governments, was created because the demand of
the farm works increased as a consequence of the WWII, this program allowed Mexican men to
work in U.S. with a legal permission, also was an opportunity for the U.S. Government to hire cheap
labor. The Bracero program was supposed to benefit Mexican and American people, however, the
Mexican men were exploited, sent to work in conditions that could affect their health. "Miserable
jobs that gave real meaning to the term backbreaking labor. The work was done with instruments of
horror... [that] required the user to work in a bent over position and crawl along the dusty rows of
beets for ten or twelve hours a day"("Bracero Jigsaw"). Those workers were exploited working in an
unsafe environment. They had working days that would be unthinkable today, work in those
conditions made them more likely to suffer intense back pain and illness related to the long exposure
