Juan in may ways. When she tried to run for vice president she was denied mainly because many of
the military leaders felt threatened. She kept on helping Perón by keeping him in contact with he

in 1502. A Spanish navigator named Juan Diaz de Solias visited Argentina during the year of 1516.
The Spanish people created a permanent colony on the site of Buenos Aires in 1580, which was built
overland and greatly resembled those built in Peru. From this established colony the regions of Rio
de la Plata and Buenos Aires become the center of trade in Central America and throughout Europe.
In the year of 1816 on July 9th the region of Buenos Aires would declare for their independence
from Spanish opposition. After their victory over the Spanish, two groups would embark in lengthy

In San Manuel Bueno, Martyr, Miguel de Unamuno describes the tragic tale of a priest who finds
himself unable to believe the messages that he shares with his congregation. He hides this disbelief

For each person individually, the religion that they follow is the one that seems the truest. My
religion feels quite real to me, though to an atheist or a Muslim, it probably looks like self–
deception. An individual's religious experiences, or lack thereof, shape the way they view religion as
a whole and something they have yet to experience will be susceptible to disbelief. Religion itself
can "make" a person, as Don Manuel states, as it develops the way they approach life and the issues

There are always issues in the world that we have to face, they change with time but a lot of them
seem to have a common theme and that is indifference. I cannot help but think that people are
uncomfortable with anything that is different from the norm. Many of us are set in our ways and we

his literary career, challenges the reader to consider questions of immortality and truth. To answer
who should have access to the truth of life after death, Unamuno presents an intriguing relationship
between authority and freedom. I argue that the role of authority and authority figures involves
possessing truth, and deceiving the masses from this truth by providing false consolation and
denying the immortality of the soul. In contrast, freedom is limited to this earthly life, where people
cannot rebel against authority or have a concept of faith, and are convinced by the church

Instead of leading people to likewise question the immortality of life, he instead uses his authority
so that the townspeople of Valverde de Lucerna never question life after death. While this consoles
both Don Manuel and the townspeople, it is ultimately a false freedom. The people are trapped
within the freedom of an earthly life, cannot rebel against the Church authority, and have a concept
of faith that rests on outward appearances and comfort rather than truth. However, this is in direct
contrast with how Unamuno himself lived his life. Unamuno often used socialist tactics to bring the
people in "his town" of Salamanca to consider life after death (Nozick 25). The freedom Don
Manuel constructs also contrasts with Unamuno's own ideal about freedom. Unamuno advocated a
religious individualism that seeks eternal life, while Don Manuel represents a worldly freedom that
