Dear Sir/ Madam
I am an effective & competent Laboratory Manager with approximately 32 years of laboratory
experience to offer, in a unionized environment. My core competency is managing a diversity
team to deliver a safe, reliable, cost-effective & quality service to clients, following ISO 17025 and
accreditation principles within the constraints of the Business Imperative. Furthermore, I have
strong people skills and am a good motivator, coordinator, coach, mentor, administrator &
negotiator, with the ability to bring about a productive engaged workforce that gives me the
competitive edge over others. I have a proactive, participative leadership style with a high
influence/relationship leadership profile that from my point of view, is a crucial requirement for
a team player in the context of the current turbulent IR Climate prevailing in South Africa, as well
as, for liaising/engaging with all stake holders (i.e. internal/ external clients, suppliers, service
departments, contractors, union officials & management at all levels)
Apart from a Laboratory Manager position, I also have expertise in and am thus open to, any
appropriate position within the Human Resources (includes Training & development), Safety
Health Environment & Occupational Hygiene (SHEO), Microbiological or Quality Control
Quality Assurance disciplines. I am computer literate and am proficient in a wide range of
report writing (e.g. technical, departmental, statistical, audit, investigation, workplace
assessments and minutes of meetings), as well as, impartially presiding in easy to complicated
& difficult Disciplinary Hearings -all levels up to dismissal.
With the knowledge that AngloGold Ashanti was undergoing a financial crisis in 2013 and having
been actively involved in the restructuring process, I forecast that the West Wits Chemical
Laboratory (i.e.my last place of employment) did not need a Laboratory Manager and volunteered
to make my position redundant. I successfully applied for the retrenchment package, making it
possible for me to spend quality time with my family, including my 80+ year old fragile mum who
is also my dependant. After approximately 2 years of devoting my time to my family and
reflection, I have decided to seek employment to utilize my skills, as I believe that I still have
much value to add to industry for a few more years of my life.
Soon after matriculating, I acquired sales experience; casual jobs included: Cashier at Checkers
shoprite, Saleslady at a clothing outlet, and sold educational programs for ‘Systems for Africa’.
I am open to a Fixed Term Contract, Temporary or Permanent employment, and am
negotiable with respect to the remuneration package & relocation.
I do not view any job offered to me, as being too small or too big for me to undertake to do to the
best of my knowledge, experience & ability, to add value to the organization.
