Charles Manson Essay
On the morning of August 9, 1969, three LAPD officers arrived at 10050 Cielo Drive (Bugliosi 7).
The scene that awaited them was horrendous. In the driveway, in a parked car, the body of Steven
Parent was found. He was shot four times and stabbed once. Laying about eighteen or twenty feet
past the front door of the house, Voytek Frykowski had been shot twice, beaten over the head with a
blunt object thirteen times, and stabbed fifty–one times. Also discovered on the lawn was coffee
heiress Abigail Folger, stabbed twenty–eight times. Inside the home, in the living room, were the
bodies of Jay Sebring and Sharon Tate. Sebring, a hair stylist, had been stabbed seven times and
shot once, dying of exsanguination. Tate, who was eight ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
45). The highest level of awareness in Scientology is called "theta clear." Manson claims to have
reached theta clear while in prison. He supposedly achieved this through many "auditing sessions,"
the method that Scientologists use to teach awareness, taught by his cell mate, Lanier Rayner
(Bugliosi 195–196). Most likely, he picked up many of his methods of mind control from these
sessions, along with ideas such as karma and reincarnation (635). The Process Church of the Final
Judgment, labeled a Satanist cult by the media, was founded in 1963 by Robert DeGrimston, a
former Scientologist. The basis of this religion was the book of Matthew of the New Testament, and
it began as a mixture of Zoroastrianism and Scientology. The name "The Process" refers to the
"changes necessary to avoid the end of the world with its associated judgment." Processeans
worship Jehovah, Lucifer, and Satan ("Process" par.17). Even though The Process fervently denies
that Charles Manson was ever a member, many ideas from his philosophy parallel Process concepts.
Both Manson and The Process taught of a violent and unavoidable Armageddon in which all but the
few chosen ones would be destroyed, and both thought that motorcycle gangs would be the "troops
of the last days." One Process pamphlet described the second coming of

Differences and Inequalities That Can be Seen on the...
By comparing two UK streets in differing localities, one can assess differences and inequalities in
the social, economic and cultural spheres. This essay will focus on the differences and inequalities
that exist between Renshaw St, Liverpool, and City Rd, Wales, by examining road traffic,
homelessness and street–level economic activity
Renshaw street is perpendicular to the side of Liverpool City Centre, and Liverpool Lime street is
one street away as is the Adelphi Hotel. The road has a collection of pubs, bars, taxi ranks, clothes
shops, music shops, restaurants and also take away. Whereas City Road contains some take aways, a
restaurant, a municipal pub, and some night clubs.

One can also find guitar, and music shops on the street, as students generally enjoy playing the
guitar when they aren't studying. These serve the local student community, as well as other members
of the public and the clubs, bars, take aways, are usually exceptionally busy on most days of the
week. This is generally because "consumption has never been a necessity", and of course take aways
are a direct example of this, as one could by goods from a store and cook them, it generally isn't
imperative to buy pre cooked food, however due to the culture of students it is somewhat useful at
the end of a night out. In order to increase consumption the local bars(such as Starbuck's), and some
modern pubs offer free wireless internet in order to attract more of the business and student
population and thus, ideally from a business point of view, increase revenue. Also "consumption is a
form of socialisation and most people feel they belong and are a part of something when they
consume"(Making Social Lives) which is businesses such as Starbuck's thrive in student areas/in the
inner city where white collar workers work as generally white collar workers earn a high amount of
revenue, and spend it predominantly on services (Making social lives, page 24)

Humans Can Chick Too Research Paper
In the urban legend titled "Aren't You Glad You Didn't Turn on the Light" there were two college
roommates and on a night before a big test one of them went to a party and the other decided to stay
in the dorm and study. When the roommate came home late from the party she went straight to bed
without turning on the light so she wouldn't wake her roommate. In the morning, she found her
roommate murdered in her bed and the words," aren't you glad you didn't turn on the light?" written
on the wall in blood. This urban legend has core elements that closely relate to "Humans Can Lick

is a young woman, a murder takes place right in front of her, and

Stephanie Bennett Regional Theatre Analysis
What is the Role and Function of Theatre in a Regional City?
To me, regional theatre means home, something that is part of me and brings culture to where I live.
I have lived in 3 different cities in England, each of them being completely different. Personally, I
believe that theatre emphasises culture and difference in a regional city. Stephanie Bennett explains
'The beauty of regional theatre is that the local performances are often raw and visceral in their
authenticity' (2016), this stood out to me because I believe it states what regional theatre is about.
What does it mean to be a regional city?
Lyn Gardner Explains in her article 'In theatre is "regional" a dirty word?' (2012) that regional cities
go beyond their distinctive tastes in food and how each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lyn Gardner talks on an experience in York when a cast of 180 people from the community marched
around York in honour of the soldiers in World War One. She goes on to explain 'Angels stopped the
traffic; people got up from their seats on buses so they could see what was going on; children played
around the edges as if it were the most natural thing in the world. People hurrying by suddenly
slowed, stopped and smiled.' (2013) this is the real and true definition of regional theatre and the
power it has to make a whole community watch and feel the performance.
The word 'theatre' has so much meaning behind it and its obvious to see that by just simply going to
two different theatres and comparing the two, each theatre has a different role and function. This
shows that there is so many different roles and functions with one regional city. There would be no
point in regional theatre if it just had one purpose throughout. That's what makes regional theatre so
unique and different to the rest.
Is there theatre that can only be performed in its regional

The Role Of Local Schools And Volunteer Groups
Launched in 1994, The Mersey Forest is the UK's largest community forest covering over 800
square miles of woodlands, green spaces, parks and street trees across Cheshire and Merseyside.
With the work of several local authorities including The Forestry Commission, Natural England and
the Environment Agency – along with help from landowners, business owners, local communities
and a team of dedicated forest workers – the vision of transforming derelict land into high quality
natural environments for recreational and cultural activities within 30 years became not only
achievable but a reality (The Mersey forest, 2014a). Mersey Forest has several projects across the
North West each with the aim of improving and protecting habitat biodiversity and enhancing
landscapes, promoting healthy living, supporting education and aiding social development by
encouraging active community involvement (Ridgers & Sayers, 2010). The involvement of local
schools and volunteer groups offers a sense of ownership over the projects, allowing them to feel
more connected with the projects and with each other as a community. An estimated 711 individuals
contributed to at least one step of the consultation process, with many having an active involvement
in more than one part of the process (The Mersey Forest, 2014b). With total costs reaching over ÂŁ7
million, the projects are partly funded by the EU's Merseyside Objective One Programme, and
include: land reclamation, managing woodlands, supporting

Liverpool Football Club: The Success Of A Liverpool...
Liverpool Football Club, or Liverpool FC in its heyday was considered to be the best football team
in England and some might argue even Europe. For a long time, Liverpool FC boasted the title of
being the most decorated football club in England, which refers to the club that has won the most
trophies in their entire history. In recent years however, the trophies have mostly dried up with the
club winning only 13 trophies since they last won the English Premier League title in the 1989/90
season. This is a miserable number for a club of its stature and also if compared with the number of
trophies they won during their most successful period between 1971 to 1990, which was a total of
33 trophies. The decline in the success of the club has meant ... Show more content on

I didn't used to watch football much but when we hang out he keeps talking about Liverpool this,
Liverpool that then somehow I just ended up becoming a Liverpool fan" (Adam)
"After the 2010 World Cup, I wanted to continue watching football so I thought why not support
some EPL team. Then I read websites and watch stuff online in the end I got attracted to Liverpool
because of their history and how they used to win a lot of trophies. I know like very long never win
already but our time will come again." (Farrah)
What has been related to me by Adam and Farrah clearly shows how family is not our own source
of mnemonic socialization. Listening to his friend's pride and happiness when talking about
Liverpool made Adam slowly begin to grow an attachment to the club till eventually it become part
of his identity, as he becomes a Liverpool fan. For Farrah, vicarious memories does not other
people's influence to arise, the things we choose to and place we explore can lead us to construct
vicarious memories. On top of that, her experience brings up my next point on how technology has
affected the learning of vicarious memories.

The Causes Of Charles Manson
When cults come to mind people think of the Manson family and heaven's gate. Before we learn

Dennis Ashwell's Life In Vietnam
It was the summer of Vietnam, The Grateful Dead, and free love. Nothing made sense, and the
cultural landscape around the world was smashed into pieces. It was a world in flux, a world awash
in a tsunami of what was and what could be. In June of 1697 dissatisfaction reached a head ushering
in a new era of rambunctious youth that had enough of the status quo. Dennis Ashwell was no
different despite his background. He hailed from a penthouse in New York overlooking Central
Park. He went to good schools and got good grades. He went to cocktail parties hosted by his
mother in swanky hotels, and hobnobbed with his father at political events, fully realizing he served
as a shining beacon of how young adults should act. At 18, he was accepted and went to Harvard. ...

He had no car, $102, and a backpack of clothes and books. He took buses until he ran out of money
somewhere between Arkansas and Texas. Then he went on route 66 and jutted out his thumb. He
met his fair share of creeps and weirdos, but the majority were friendly and his journey uneventful.
His one mistake was falling asleep in the back of a lumber pickup truck and winding up in
Mendocino Beach, 200 miles away from where he wanted to go. Lumbering back onto the highway
he stuck out his thumb once again and waited. He waited until one night a large VW bus slowed
down. The bus was large, almost like a truck, and was painted a cacophony of bright colors. Out of
the bus appeared a short man with crazy hair and battered clothing – his eyes wild and his jaw
clenching and unclenching. As the man got closer Dennis could smell a heavy mix of perspiration,
day old milk, and marijuana, yet he wasn't unnerved, the man seemed alright. They shook hands, the
man introduced himself as Charlie, and Dennis agreed to ride with him and his group to San

Research Paper On Why Leslie Van Houten Deserve To Walk Free
Why Leslie Van Houten deserves to walk free.
Picture this...You're nineteen years old with nowhere to call home, your mothers left you
traumatised and permanently scarred. You're alone in the big bad world. Fragile, vulnerable and
powerless. Does any teenager really have life's answers? Or are they aimlessly searching for them
from somewhere or someone else? Cast yourself back to when you were nineteen, if someone had
entered your life offering all the answers, don't tell me you would've turned them away. Leslie Van
Houten was just nineteen years old when she fell under infamous cult leader Charles Manson's spell.
She thought he could give her the answers everyone so desperately seeks at that tender age. A year
after joining the 'Manson Family' Van Houten was involved in the 1969 murders of Leno and
Rosemary LaBianca. Under Manson's orders Van Houten stabbed Rosemary approximately 16
times. She was found guilty of murder and is now serving life in prison. In September 2017 Van
Houten was granted parole. She now faces a one–hundred–and–twenty–day review period. At the
end, it will be decided whether or not she is fit for release. I believe that Leslie should walk free and
be allowed a second chance at life.
Leslie Van Houten's upbringing was extremely influential in her crimes. I'm sure you'll agree your
childhood also largely impacted your future. While in high school Leslie was forced into using
drugs. Drug usage at an early age can cause severe mental defects as the

Manson In the summer of August, 1969, free love reigned and cries of protest against the Vietnam
War could be heard throughout the streets of America. It seemed to most that this era, filled with the
ideals of hippies and psychedelic media, would never end. However, the era seemed to come to an
abrupt halt on the night of August 9th, when five innocent people were horribly slain, including

This movie follows the entire Tate–LaBianca case from the discovery of the first murder, to the day
that Manson and his followers were declared guilty. The movie follows the case with an omniscient
point of view, mainly focusing on the point of view of the leading prosecutor, Vincent Bugliosi.
Occasionally, the viewer receives information Bugliosi does not have, by switching to the viewpoint
of a Family member. The film accurately displays most historical facts, including an in depth
explanation of what Charlie led the Family to believe; killing was a form of love, because they were
simply setting a soul free, and that Charlie was Jesus in the flesh. The amount of violence in the
movie is not depicted as it was in real life. This is because showing true–to–life, graphic images of
the murders was not appropriate for television at that time. This does not change the overall
effectiveness of the movie, as the actors do a good job portraying their horror at the

GLOBALIZATION
Globalization is a process in which barriers (physical, political, economic, cultural) separating
different regions of the world are reduced or removed (removal of barriers is called liberalization),
thereby stimulating exchanges in goods, services, money, and people. As these exchanges grow,
nations and the businesses involved, become increasingly integrated and interdependent, promoting
mutual reliance between countries. ⁔
Globalization is not a new idea at all. Many intellectuals including most social scientists agree of its
deep origin by referring to it as a "phenomenon of long term historical process..." ⁶
Jagdish Bhagwati, a renowned economist from Columbia University and author of "In Defense of
Globalization", at his speech at IMF Economic Forum in 2004 "argued that when properly
governed, globalization is in fact the most powerful force for social good in the world today." ⁷
VARIOUS DIMENSIONS OF GLOBALIZATION
Following are the various dimensions of globalization as described by the European Network of
Economic Policy Research Institutes (ENEPRI): ⁷
1) The internationalisation of national economic spaces through growing penetration (inward flows)
and extraversion (outward flows).
Example: The rise of China alone accounts for a lot in the globalization story. In 2003, China's
economy accounted for 55% of Asia's export.

Charles Manson Death Penalty Outline
Eye Catching Title: Some Information About Said Title
Introduction
On August 9th, 1969, popular film actress Sharon Tate was at home at 10050 Cielo Drive, Los
Angeles, California. She, her unborn baby, three friends, and a visitor to the house were all shot or
stabbed that night, and found the next morning. The brutal murders were committed by the infamous
"Manson Family," a cult led by none other than Charles Manson. Manson has been the inspiration
for many pop culture references, appearing on American Horror Story: Cult, the comedy film
Manson Family Vacation, and Quentin Tarantino's upcoming project, reportedly about the Tate
murder in 1969. Manson himself, as well as the members of his 'family,' were given the death
penalty in 1971. However, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This amendment covers "cruel and unusual punishment," which many people argue the death
penalty is. The wording of the amendment states that "excessive bail shall not be required, nor
excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted" (Amendment VIII, U.S.
Constitution). The aforementioned loophole in this amendment, however, is that it does not
specifically define what punishments are, or are not, 'cruel and unusual.'
Briefly, in the 1970s, the Supreme Court ruled that "the death penalty in most states was unlawful
because it was being imposed in a discriminatory fashion. After this ruling, states had to change
their death penalty procedures to satisfy the Court that they impose the death penalty fairly" (Gale
Student Resources in Context). The ruling was revoked later, however, and death penalties have
been handed out since then. There are 19 states that have abolished the death penalty within their
own state, which areincluding Alaska, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Maine,
Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North
Dakota, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, and

Critical Review Of Educating Rita
Review of Educating Rita
Educating Rita is a dramatic and comedic play about the differences in social class and education in
Britain. The play takes place in the nineteen–seventies to the nineteen–eighties and is furthermore
written by English playwright, lyricist, and composer William Russell. William Russell, also known
as Willy Russell, was once a hairdresser himself, just like Rita. Though, today he is better known as
the playwright of many successful plays, such as Shirley Valentine and Blood Brothers.
Educating Rita is a play about twenty–seven–year–old Rita from Liverpool. Rita is married to her
husband Denny, who is never seen on stage, and works as a women's hairdresser. Rita lives a
mediocre life as a part of Britain's working ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The director of the play was Barry McKenna, who has previously directed for That Theatre. He has
also directed modern versions of various famous Shakespeare plays, for instance, Twelfth Night.
With Barry McKenna's previous experiences with interpreting classical plays, I had very high hopes
for his interpretation of Educating Rita.
In Educating Rita, only two people are shown on stage, Rita and Frank. Dawn Wall, a British
actress, played the role of Rita, and Ian Burns played the role of Frank. Ian Burns is British as well
and is also the co–founder of That Theatre. Furthermore, he has featured in multiple other plays, in
Denmark and directed by Barry McKenna, such as Proof and Blood Brothers.
Language is of very high importance in Educating Rita. Dawn Wall made a great effort in
emphasizing Rita's roots and social status by staying in a Liverpool inspired Scouse accent, almost
throughout the entire play. This was in stark contrast to Frank's posh and upper–class dialect which
was combined with a very intellectual and wide vocabulary. Dawn Wall's way of speaking, use of
slang and multiple vulgar words, definitely gave her character much more life than Ian Burn's
character Frank. In addition to that, Rita also had multiple outfit changes whereas Frank stayed in
the same shirt, positioning the same sweater in different ways on himself throughout the

Analysis : Tate Digital Strategy
Critial analysis of Tate Digital Strategy 2013–15.
Introduction
As one of the most excellent British modern museums, Tate Modern ran several digital strategies
aim to creat incomes and build interactive communication with their audice. In that process, Tate
proved how important that digital communication offered to museum to create and nurture an
engaged arts community and to maximise the associated revenue opportunities. In the three years,
Tate Modern had improvement on their incomes, however, their number of website visitings was not
stable, thus, the result should be analysised with theories, to find out why it would happen.
Case study:Tate Digital strategy
As Tate stated in Tate Digital Strategy 2013–15 (Stake,J.,2013), the museum promote lots of digital
strategies. Firstly, Tate has published over 50,000 digitised archive items since 2014. Tate also paid
attention to offer visitors with good experience in all galleries, the Wi–Fi, mobile website and tablet

Modern considered their digital editorial content (in the form of short videos or blog posts) as the
"keystone" of their digital communications. They also used their own media to tell stories
effectively. Tate Modern built digital communities, for example, Tate Kid, Tate Collectives online.

Origin And Themes Of Popular Soccer Chants
Devin Reddy USSO290Z: Soccer: The Global Game 20 November 2016 Origin and Themes of
Popular Soccer Chants The lyrics "Walk on, Walk on, With hope in your hearts" are belted out by a
sea of red as a Liverpool match is about to start. Even though the intonation of the singing might
make a choral director cringe, there is no doubt that everyone wearing Liverpool's red jersey knows
every word to the song. Sung in unison, the undeniable passion of Liverpool's fans is overwhelming,
when they wear their club's crest and colors on their chest and recite their anthem with their voice.
This sort of chanting and singing is mainstay in European football, almost as central to the sport as
the ball itself. Here, I will define chanting as the reciting or singing a tune or song, often with
changed lyrics with respect to the original version of the song, in order to evoke or convey
emotions. The term 'chanting' will encompass not only explicitly chanting, but singing and warbling
as well, specifically pertaining to European football. Showcasing the power and unity of that club's
fans, chanting can be used for a variety of purposes, such as supporting their own club, celebrating
after a goal, or even intimidating the opposing club. Some chants, such as Liverpool FC's You'll
Never Walk Alone, may be passed down through generations of fans, engrained in that club's
identity. However, there are many others which are based off of popular music of the time, which
come and go, just as popular

In other words, love keeps you go back to your lover again and again. Even when the two lovers are
physically separated from each other, they can feel the presence of love in their lives (line 19). The
feeling of love is so great that it doesn't know any bounds. It transcends all boundaries of physical

would also use LSD to slowly gain control over his followers. Manson would call for daily rituals of
everyone to take LSD; Charles wouldn't always take it so that he could stay in control while he

Liverpool's Steven Gerrard versus AS Roma's Francesco Totti
Drawing comparisons between the career trajectories of Liverpool's talismanic captain Steven
Gerrard and AS Roma's patriarch Francesco Totti is an inevitable prospect. Both were passionate
childhood fans of their "native" football clubs. Both were recruited into their club academies at a
very tender age. Both have risen through the ranks and established themselves as the heart and soul
of their club. And both have consistently led from the front and guided their clubs to football glory.
However, the strongest bond that exists between the two is their relentless, unmitigated devotion to
their beloved club. The common thread that binds Totti and Gerrard together is their unique ability
to stand by their clubs through thick and thin.
But the past few years have been particularly painful for the aficionados of Roma and Liverpool.
Totti and Gerrard have seen their club slip down their respective domestic league tables in recent
years owing to the dominance of their cross country rivals. Both Roma and Liverpool have failed to
qualify for the UEFA Champions League since the 2010–2011 and 2009–2010 seasons respectively.
Their continued absence from Europe's premier football cup competition has severely tarnished their
image and dented their aspirations of attracting the big name players to their clubs which their
domestic rivals have been successfully able to do so.

It was in February of 1970 that the motive of these murders was discovered (Bugliosi, 1974, 283).
Through police investigation, it was discovered that the murders were cult related. Charles Manson
and members of his cult, known as "The Family," were to blame. Manson and family lived on a
ranch in California. Manson was an avid fan of The Beatles and believed that this rock band spoke
to him though their lyrics. He particularly liked The Beatles' White Album which included the song
"Helter Skelter." Manson interpreted this song's lyrics as a prophecy of a race war that would take
place between the blacks and the whites. In this war, he believed the black man would rise up and
slaughter all of the whites. So Manson's plan was to take his family out into the desert and hide in a
bottomless pit until the war was over. After the war, he believed the blacks would realize all they
ever knew was taught to them by the white man, and if they wanted to survive, they would need a
white person to tell them what to do. That is when Manson and his Family would surface from the
bottomless pit, and be the rulers of the world as the master race (Bugliosi, 1974, 284–290).
The only problem with Manson's prophecy was that Helter Skelter never came. So he sent Family
members out to kill Sharon Tate and friends and instructed them to make it appear as if the blacks

The Purpose Of The Hippie Movement
The Hippie Movement began in the 1960's and is viewed as a resistance towards mainstream
America as a whole. The movement was a response to the United States involvement in the Vietnam
War. The Hippie Movement initially blossomed on college campuses in the United States and
continued spreading abroad to parts of Europe and Canada ("Hippie Subculture"). Throughout the
decades, the purpose of the Hippie Movement has changed, and its prominence has decreased. This
movement began in the 1960's with the intention of bringing social change. Today, the Hippie
Movement is practiced to find a sense of identity. The Hippie Movement's exact purpose has
changed throughout several years, and today the meaning of the movement is rapidly fading.
In the 1960's, the Hippie Movement was lead by Allen Ginsberg and Jack Kerouac, and during this
time one of the primary purposes was to separate hippies who were, followers of the Hippie
Movement, from the mainstream materialistic society in the United States to establish social change.
("Hippie Subculture"). The followers of the Hippie Movement otherwise known as hippies have,
"Evolved from the beats of the 1950's and the bohemians of the decades before that, but it would be
hard to see them as coalescing into anything that amounted to a distinct social movement before
about 1966" ("Families and Communes" 87). Hippies preached love and were against violence.

Their 2016–17 campaign was successful to a degree. They finally finished above arch rival Arsenal

revolutionary football stadium. Best of all they finished second and are going to play Champions
League football yet again. But they did crash out of the Champions League in a very winable group
and have no silverware to show for their brilliant effort this past season.
Three questions to ask:
–Can Tottenham hold on to their best players–especially from their defense and midfield?
–How much cash are they willing to spend and for who–needs in the attack?
–Are they ready to take the leap to becoming European Elites–doing better in the Champions
League?
As uncertainity swirls around the club going forward, they are a great position to be more than noisy

British Sculptor Phyllida Barlow
untitled: dock, the latest work from British sculptor Phyllida Barlow, is also colossal and
monumental in scale. The sculpture was commissioned by Tate Britain for its Duveen Gallery. The
annual commission, sponsored by Sotheby's, invites artists to make work in response to Tate's
collection of British art – bridging the gap between its historic and contemporary works. The
commission is displayed every year from March to October. Tate Britain, part of England's five
gallery network of Tate spaces, has been on a mission to redefine itself since the creation of Tate

heavily on events, like this commission, to maintain its resonance with modern audiences.
Therefore, untitled: dock is monumentally important to the museum's calendar. The Duveen Gallery

Analysis Of The Hillsborough Tragedy
The Hillsborough tragedy is the worst tragedy in a stadium in the history of United Kingdom that
resulted in the death of ninety six people. Disasters such as the Hillsborough tragedy do not just

When these factors come together, the end result is a disaster that involves loss of lives and life

structural capacity, design or even security and management aspects that could result in human

The 96 Short Story
The 96
It was an average spring afternoon on April 15, 1989, my Brother John and I had plans to make our
way up to Sheffield for the Liverpool match but had a dilemma as to whether to take the tube or

By comparing two UK streets in differing localities, one can assess differences and inequalities in the social, economic and cultural spheres. This essay will focus on the differences and inequalities that exist between Renshaw St, Liverpool, and City Rd, Wales, by examining road traffic, homelessness and street–level economic activity Renshaw street is perpendicular to the side of Liverpool City Centre, and Liverpool Lime street is one street away as is the Adelphi Hotel. The road has a collection of pubs, bars, taxi ranks, clothes shops, music shops, restaurants and also take away. One can also find guitar, and music shops on the street, as students generally enjoy playing the guitar when they aren't studying. These serve the local student community, as well as other members of the public and the clubs, bars, take aways, are usually exceptionally busy on most days of the week. This is generally because "consumption has never been a necessity", and of course take aways are a direct example of this, as one could by goods from a store and cook them, it generally isn't imperative to buy pre cooked food, however due to the culture of students it is somewhat useful at the end of a night out. In order to increase consumption the local bars(such as Starbuck's), and some modern pubs offer free wireless internet in order to attract more of the business and student population and thus, ideally from a business point of view, increase revenue. Also "consumption is a form of socialisation and most people feel they belong and are a part of something when they consume"(Making Social Lives) which is businesses such as Starbuck's thrive in student areas/in the inner city where white collar workers work as generally white collar workers earn a high amount of revenue, and spend it predominantly on services (Making social lives, page 24) The roads on Renshaw Street are exceptionally busy; there are several pedestrian crossings ... • 9. Stephanie Bennett Regional Theatre Analysis What is the Role and Function of Theatre in a Regional City? To me, regional theatre means home, something that is part of me and brings culture to where I live. I have lived in 3 different cities in England, each of them being completely different. Personally, I believe that theatre emphasises culture and difference in a regional city. Stephanie Bennett explains 'The beauty of regional theatre is that the local performances are often raw and visceral in their authenticity' (2016), this stood out to me because I believe it states what regional theatre is about. What does it mean to be a regional city? Lyn Gardner Explains in her article 'In theatre is "regional" a dirty word?' Lyn Gardner talks on an experience in York when a cast of 180 people from the community marched around York in honour of the soldiers in World War One. She goes on to explain 'Angels stopped the traffic; people got up from their seats on buses so they could see what was going on; children played around the edges as if it were the most natural thing in the world. People hurrying by suddenly slowed, stopped and smiled.' (2013) this is the real and true definition of regional theatre and the power it has to make a whole community watch and feel the performance. The word 'theatre' has so much meaning behind it and its obvious to see that by just simply going to two different theatres and comparing the two, each theatre has a different role and function. This shows that there is so many different roles and functions with one regional city. There would be no point in regional theatre if it just had one purpose throughout. That's what makes regional theatre so unique and different to the rest. Is there theatre that can only be performed in its regional ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. The Role Of Local Schools And Volunteer Groups Launched in 1994, The Mersey Forest is the UK's largest community forest covering over 800 square miles of woodlands, green spaces, parks and street trees across Cheshire and Merseyside. With the work of several local authorities including The Forestry Commission, Natural England and the Environment Agency – along with help from landowners, business owners, local communities and a team of dedicated forest workers – the vision of transforming derelict land into high quality natural environments for recreational and cultural activities within 30 years became not only achievable but a reality (The Mersey forest, 2014a). Mersey Forest has several projects across the North West each with the aim of improving and protecting habitat biodiversity and enhancing landscapes, promoting healthy living, supporting education and aiding social development by encouraging active community involvement (Ridgers & Sayers, 2010). The involvement of local schools and volunteer groups offers a sense of ownership over the projects, allowing them to feel more connected with the projects and with each other as a community. Liverpool Football Club, or Liverpool FC in its heyday was considered to be the best football team in England and some might argue even Europe. In recent years however, the trophies have mostly dried up with the club winning only 13 trophies since they last won the English Premier League title in the 1989/90 season. • 27. Origin And Themes Of Popular Soccer Chants Devin Reddy USSO290Z: Soccer: The Global Game 20 November 2016 Origin and Themes of Popular Soccer Chants The lyrics "Walk on, Walk on, With hope in your hearts" are belted out by a sea of red as a Liverpool match is about to start. Even though the intonation of the singing might make a choral director cringe, there is no doubt that everyone wearing Liverpool's red jersey knows every word to the song. Sung in unison, the undeniable passion of Liverpool's fans is overwhelming, when they wear their club's crest and colors on their chest and recite their anthem with their voice. This sort of chanting and singing is mainstay in European football, almost as central to the sport as the ball itself. Here, I will define chanting as the reciting or singing a tune or song, often with changed lyrics with respect to the original version of the song, in order to evoke or convey emotions. The term 'chanting' will encompass not only explicitly chanting, but singing and warbling as well, specifically pertaining to European football. Showcasing the power and unity of that club's fans, chanting can be used for a variety of purposes, such as supporting their own club, celebrating after a goal, or even intimidating the opposing club. Some chants, such as Liverpool FC's You'll Never Walk Alone, may be passed down through generations of fans, engrained in that club's identity. However, there are many others which are based off of popular music of the time, which come and go, just as popular ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Liverpool's Steven Gerrard versus AS Roma's Francesco Totti Drawing comparisons between the career trajectories of Liverpool's talismanic captain Steven Gerrard and AS Roma's patriarch Francesco Totti is an inevitable prospect. Both were passionate childhood fans of their "native" football clubs. Both were recruited into their club academies at a very tender age. Both have risen through the ranks and established themselves as the heart and soul of their club. And both have consistently led from the front and guided their clubs to football glory. However, the strongest bond that exists between the two is their relentless, unmitigated devotion to their beloved club. The common thread that binds Totti and Gerrard together is their unique ability to stand by their clubs through thick and thin. But the past few years have been particularly painful for the aficionados of Roma and Liverpool. Totti and Gerrard have seen their club slip down their respective domestic league tables in recent years owing to the dominance of their cross country rivals. Both Roma and Liverpool have failed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League since the 2010–2011 and 2009–2010 seasons respectively. Their continued absence from Europe's premier football cup competition has severely tarnished their image and dented their aspirations of attracting the big name players to their clubs which their domestic rivals have been successfully able to do so. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was in February of 1970 that the motive of these murders was discovered (Bugliosi, 1974, 283). Through police investigation, it was discovered that the murders were cult related. Charles Manson and members of his cult, known as "The Family," were to blame. Manson and family lived on a ranch in California. Manson was an avid fan of The Beatles and believed that this rock band spoke to him though their lyrics. He particularly liked The Beatles' White Album which included the song "Helter Skelter." Manson interpreted this song's lyrics as a prophecy of a race war that would take place between the blacks and the whites. In this war, he believed the black man would rise up and slaughter all of the whites. So Manson's plan was to take his family out into the desert and hide in a bottomless pit until the war was over. After the war, he believed the blacks would realize all they ever knew was taught to them by the white man, and if they wanted to survive, they would need a white person to tell them what to do. That is when Manson and his Family would surface from the bottomless pit, and be the rulers of the world as the master race (Bugliosi, 1974, 284–290). The only problem with Manson's prophecy was that Helter Skelter never came. So he sent Family members out to kill Sharon Tate and friends and instructed them to make it appear as if the blacks ... The sculpture was commissioned by Tate Britain for its Duveen Gallery. The annual commission, sponsored by Sotheby's, invites artists to make work in response to Tate's collection of British art – bridging the gap between its historic and contemporary works. The commission is displayed every year from March to October.
