Reflection On Community Language Learning
Ms. Chilankis instructs group work during the second half of the class period. Five out of six
observations show that Bonu is grouped with the same three students with one exceptions. In the
regular group, two of the students share the same L1 as Bonu while one doesn't. During
collaborative work, the use of their L1 is allowed. But when the class is back together as one group,
English is enforced as they need to explain what they did throughout the group session. This is
rather interesting to me, seeing how this is what I consider Community Language Learning as
explained in the Celce–Murcia article which gives students the free reign to say what they want with
the teacher being the facilitator (2014). During all collaborative sessions, Bonu has displayed her
BISC quite a bit. She is able to communicate well through her L1, and through her L2 in all group
sessions. Example of this included: Laughing at jokes, regular conversation in L2, and following
instructions from the teacher. This was best shown through my second observation, where she was
grouped with three students who all had a different L1 than Bonu. Her group was working on past
and present tense. Another student had trouble with the difference between was and were, and Bonu
explained to the student in English that it's based off point of view and whether it's singular or
plural. This shows a great example of This shows a good case of Discrete Language Skills that has
been explained by Cummins (2005) seeing how she was able to show off her knowledge of
grammar. In the interview, it shows that Bonu doesn't have any concerns about the demographics of
the classroom. When asked about her feelings regarding group work and solo works, she explained
that she prefers group work. I followed up by asking why, and she said that she likes learning from
her peers. She also brought up that she speaks English at home with her two siblings, which explains
why she well advanced with her BISC. Throughout this interview, I recognized that all her answers
were clear enough for me to understand the scope of how she feels. This is a good showing of
Conversational Fluency that was described by Cummins (2005, pg. 7).

Theory Xyz
Theory Z
Theory Z is an approach to management that advocates matching the organization's culture to that of
the larger society and assumes that involved workers are the key to increased productivity.
In other words, the values of certain cultures affect the way the employees work, and therefore,
those values should be taken into concideration when managing employees of a certain business.
Another part of the theory is that, theory Z workers can be trusted to do their jobs to their utmost
ability so long as the management can be trusted to support them.
Interpreter of theory Z
Theory Z was created by Dr. William Ouchi Professor Ouchi spent years researching Japanese
companies and examining American companies using the Theory Z ... Show more content on

The desire, under this theory, is to develop a work force, which has more of a loyalty towards
staying with the company for an entire career, and be more permanent than in other types of settings.
It is expected that once an employee does rise to a position of high level management, they will
know a great deal more about the company and how it operates, and will be able to use Theory Z
management theories effectively on the newer employees (Luthans, 1989, p. 36).
Theory X and Theory Y are theories of human motivation created and developed by Douglas
McGregor at the MIT Sloan School of Management in the 1960s that have been used in human
resource management, organizational behavior, organizational communication and organizational
development. They describe two contrasting models of workforce motivation.
Theory X and Theory Y have to do with the perceptions managers hold on their employees, not the
way they generally behave. It is attitude not attributes.

Theory X
In this theory, which has been proven counter effective in most modern practice, management
assumes employees are inherently lazy and will avoid work if they can and that they inherently
dislike work. As a result of this, management believes that workers need to be closely

The Non Technical Aspects Of Search Engines And Their Uses
To be sure, the non–technical aspects of search engines and their uses is not uncharted territory.
Depending on how widely one casts the net, one can find considerable relevant work in past
literature across fields. For example, researchers in the areas of library and information science have
been interested for a long time in how people find material using various interfaces and databases,
and these projects are not unrelated to the questions addressed by the articles in this collection (for a
review of some of this work, see Bar–Ilan, 2003; Hsieh–Yee, 2001). However, work in this domain
often only focuses on very small and non–representative samples and rarely considers the social
context of searching (for a more elaborate discussion of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We also have evidence suggesting that search engine users are not particularly savvy about the
behind–the–scenes of search engines. For example, when asked in one study whether they were
aware of the distinction between paid and unpaid results, the majority (62%) indicated that they
were not (Fallows, 2005). These findings were mirrored by another report asking similar questions
in which 56% did not know the difference between the two types of results (iCrossing, 2005).
Moreover, the latter findings suggested that this know–how is not randomly distributed among
users, but rather that men and younger adults claimed to be more informed about this aspect of
search engines than women and older users. Regarding the role of search engines in channeling user
attention, although researchers started considering the possible gatekeeping implications of these
services years ago (Hargittai, 2000; Introna & Nissenbaum, 2000), little empirical work has
followed to examine the extent to which search engines may or may not discriminate against certain
types of content while (perhaps unduly) favoring others. Some case studies have examined the
censorship of certain types of material by some search engines in particular national contexts (e.g.
Finkelstein, 2004; Zittrain & Edelman, 2002), but there is little systematic work considering less

The Field Of Veterinary Medicine
What are different careers in the field of Veterinary medicine? How do these jobs use chemistry?
Why is chemistry so important to veterinarians? What arguments are there about veterinary
medicine?
Different careers in the field of Veterinary medicine There are several different career paths that you
can take with a veterinary degree, but there are six main areas of veterinary medicine that include:
Private practice, Teaching and research, Industry, etc.
First off is Private practice, which is the most common and what most people will think of when
talking about veterinary medicine. These are the veterinarians that would regularly perform check–
ups on small and large animals, test them for infectious diseases, diagnose them and perform any
medical or surgical treatments needed. This also includes veterinary technicians (vet techs) who
work alongside the veterinarians, perform certain procedures and tests, and sometimes specialize in
surgery or anesthesia.
Secondly there's Teaching and research. This field allows for continuous advancement in medicine
allowing both humans and animals to live longer and (hopefully) healthier lives. It has also come up
with some important findings like isolating viruses and other pathogens such as Salmonella, and
learning to control different diseases such as Malaria and Yellow fever.
Lastly is Industry. This includes veterinarians that work in pharmaceutical and biomedical research
to test, develop and supervise the

Engineering Ethic of the Challenger Space Suttle
When it comes to engineering, building, and designing something that will be used by humans,
safety is the most important step in the entire process. It should be taken very seriously by all who
are involved in a project, but the engineers should be the ones who double, triple or even quadruple
check safety issues. Mainly the engineers because it is in their code and law of ethics and safety is
the first Canon on the list, "Hold paramount the safety, health, and welfare of the public." (NSPE,
2012). There are very bad consequences that happen when someone decides not to fallow the Code
of Ethics for Engineers, for example the Space shuttle Challenger disaster that happened in January
of 1986. There were issues with parts and conflicts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Personal Narrative : A Personal Life In My Life
Who would have thought that a night out with a group of friends would have led to a terrifying
tragedy? It was a Sunday after–noon and I had just woken up from a nap. I heard my text tone sound
go off. It was Vianna, one of my best friends asking me to go over to a friend's house. Her and my
other friend Stephanie was hanging out there, and they had plans on going to sports grill later on to
watch the NBA finals. I really did not want to get out of bed, but I hadn't done anything all day so I
decided to get dressed, get in my car, and head over to where they were. I showed up to the house
and we hung out there for an hour or so, everyone is talking and joking around, having a good time.
Then we came to realize how late it was getting and if we wanted to catch the game at sports grill
we had to leave immediately. I offered to drive the girls in my car, but everyone wanted to go in one
car. So Bryan Stephanie's boyfriend, offered to drive all of us there in his new Lexus. For some
reason my gut was telling me not to get in the car and just there in drive my car. I didn't listen; I
ended up leaving my car at Bryan's house and got into his car. Bryan was driving, Stephanie was in
the passenger seat, Vianna was behind the passenger seat, and I was behind the driver seat. Off we
went to sports grills, or at least we thought. Bryan was being a show off by speeding despite all of us
telling him to slow down and that there was no need to rush. Bryan was approaching an

Holodomor: The Eight stages of Genocide
Genocide is a term that was created in 1944 to describe violence against a specific ethnical, racial,
national, or religious group with the intent to destroy or wipe out that entire group. This is an
unfortunate event that has caused millions of casualties and left even more in grief. The famine–
genocide of Ukraine took place over the span of 16 long years, killing over 7 million farmers and
families, over one third of the lives lost were children. Joseph Stalin is to blame for the horrors
caused in Ukraine, his communist ways and power hungry drive allowed him to force millions of
farmers out of their land and into poverty. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When extremists attempt to intensify divisions between groups, the government usually begins
attacks, violent actions, and takes drastic measures. In the situation of Holodomor, a large amount of
Ukraine's religious, political, and intellectual leaders were arrested, tortured, and often murdered in
order to remove any dangerous opposition. By taking these actions, Stalin polarized the Ukrainian
population, separating the Ukrainian working class from the peasants. Stalin also began removing a
large amount of the population out of Ukraine, and into harsh survivable lands such as Siberia and
labor camps, these settings were referred to as a "Dump site" where the main purpose was to
eliminate the farmers and keep rotting bodies out of

Essay on Nature vs Nurture: Genetics vs Environment
Do you know how much your personality is the result of your genetic makeup, and how much is the
result of the environment? The "nature–nurture" question is one of the oldest issues in psychology.
This question is applicable to identical twins. They are the same age, same–sex, have the same
genes, live in the same house, share same stuff, given identical presents, so in other words, they
share the same environment from birth. The researcher tends to know if identical twins really share
the same personality.
In Individual Psychology of Alfred Adler, each person is an integrated whole, striving to future
goals, and attempting to find meaning in life while working harmoniously with others. There are
four areas of individual psychology, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are levels or structure of the psyche (mind) and one of it is the Archetype, the primeval
content of racial unconscious consisting of inherited ideas and predispositions, and the universal
images, thoughts, ideas, or symbols that contain a large element of emotion. There are five main
archetypes, and one of them is the persona. It the mask adopted by the person in response to the
demands of social convention and tradition and it is the role that a person acted. Carl Jung
considered many psychological types that emerge from the union of two (2) basic attitudes, the
introversion and extraversion. Introversion is the orientation of the psychic energy inward while the
extraversion is the tendency to direct the personality outward.
The research is also associated with the theory of Albert Bandura, the Social Cognitive Theory, in
which postulates that the portion of an individual's knowledge acquisition can be directly related to
observing others within the context of social interactions, experiences, and outside media influences.
Based in this theory, behavior is the product of continuous interaction of an individual to his
environment. People respond to environmental events, and certainly they often learn characteristic
behaviors as the result of rewards and punishments.

Youth Delinquency
I searched for articles and recent publications on the topic of youth delinquency in the United States
on both Google, which is the search engine I use the most, as well as on EBSCO. Reading through
the results on both search engines was very informative and I believe I was able to form a solid
understanding of the topic and current discussions through the information I gathered.
Google
While searching through Google I received a lot of relevant information. However, when I started to
assess my results based on accuracy, authority, objectivity, and currency, I discovered that
researched based solely on the results from Google may not be the most beneficial. In terms of the
search engines accuracy, the first page of results included ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The problem with that is that youth face a lot more pressures especially with technology and social
media that those articles did not take into account.
EBSCO
I also searched on EBSCO for information about youth delinquency and this time was able to
compare my results on this research platform to the results I received on Google. The results I
received on EBSCO were heavily academic with the majority being from academic journals, other
research–based databases, libraries, established corporations, and open source information. The
results were quite accurate in that they were heavily technical with industry jargon and references to
other works and sources of information. From page to page, the results yielded a high level of
relevance to the topic with little that did not relate to what I was trying to learn. I could discern the
authority of the authors and originators because they had their titles and connection to the topic
clearly stated within the article. I had concrete evidence that these were field experts who had some
level of authority and therefore reliable knowledge to be publishing information regarding youth
delinquency. The objectivity in the article was also clear because the publications had structure and
included the methods that were used to produce the research. Those results often included
components such as an abstract, thesis, graphs, data, and

Paid Time Off
To change the Caveman–like policy on paid time off ("PTO") to the new unlimited PTO means to
eliminate "vacation days" and "sick days" or a specific number of days given to employees to take
off each year. Instead, company would allow employees to take as much as they need without being
docked any pay. Before moving on to choosing the more suitable PTO policy, we do a research and
analysis to have a better understanding about the new unlimited PTO policy.
On one hand, the new unlimited PTO policy has some advantages. First of all, this new PTO policy
would let employees recharge. The unlimited PTO policy allows employees to schedule in week or
two–week–long trips that might not be possible under traditional PTO policy that now is being ...

The typical U.S. employee with paid vacation time took just a little more than half of his or her
allowed time off in the previous 12 months, according to an April 2014 Harris survey conducted for
Glass door. Just a quarter reported taking all the time off given to them, while 2 in 5 said they had
taken 25 percent or less of their available time off (Milligan, 2015). For these employees, they may
have the perception that when say "unlimited vacation", it really means that there is "no vacation".
Finally, the most serious and important thing is that using the unlimited PTO policy would have
potential for employee abused. If an employee chooses to abuse the unlimited PTO policy, it can be
difficult to terminate the employee for absence because he or she is technically allowed to take that
time off. The possibility of employee abuse exists, but there are ways to curb it. For example, we
can limit how much time off employees can take at once, implement companywide systems
requiring preapproval of vacation time, and ensure fair and equal treatment across the board.
Establishing and reviewing performance goals can also help mitigate this challenge (Unlimited,
n.d.).
According to the analysis, I would suggest our company try the unlimited PTO policy. It seems that
implementing the unlimited PTO would get more benefits than the traditional Caveman–like PTO
policy.

Growing Up Of A Latino Household Essay
Growing up in a Latino household is hard. My parents only spoke Spanish therefore my first
language was Spanish. For the first few years of my life this was not really a problem, I enjoyed life
as any normal little girl would. I got to talk to all of my cousins and all of the neighbor's children. It
wasn't until I got to school that it became real that I was going to learn English. Don't get me wrong
I always knew I had to learn English my parents always talked to me about school and helped me as
much as they could. It was also around this same time where I started to understand that it was not
only hard for me it was hard for them as well. My parents had to live in this country not knowing the
main language spoken. For my parent's, language was and still is a constant struggle doing things
that seem easy to most people can be difficult for them. Things like ordering food at a fast food
restaurant and asking for help at the grocery store seem may easy for most people but can
sometimes be challenging for my parents. My brother and I try to help as much as we can by
translating. I found it extremely helpful since it helped me stay connected to both languages. Now it
is not as hard for my parents since they have picked up a lot of the language and there are different
recourses. There are still times when language barrios get in the way last year I was awoken in the
middle of the night by excruciating pain in my stomach and abdomen. My parents insisted to take

Jamaica has a serious problem with crime and violence. For years there have been numerous

According to Samms–Vaughn (2013), "Exposure to violence in childhood has been associated with
aggressive and antisocial behaviour in childhood and with offending in adulthood." For example: If
a child has experienced child abuse, sexual abuse, physical abuse and domestic violence in their
household or community, this exposure leads to aggressive behaviour in the future. It was some
years ago there was a documentary on the television show, Dr. Phil, where a father kept his family
isolated from society. He had only girls and he sexually abused the mother to her death. After which
he started abusing the oldest of the four. She was then trained in his way to take care of her siblings

follow through with the rules would be punished. She was aiding and abetting, which is a crime, but
to her, she was just obeying her father's wishes. Years after, this story was highlighted and her
younger siblings blamed her for the punishment she handed down in an uncivilized manner. She
wept bitterly as she said she knew nothing else to do because that's how she was raised.

for the right of the employees of Hong Kong Disneyland. Since the opening of the Hong Kong

during their working period.
On the other hand, there is a ethical dilemma in the China 's market. The wage paid for local
Chinese employees and US employees who work in the Chinese Walt Parks are different. The
reason of the difference is that it is expensive for US employees to live in China. It is not justice for

The Cultural Perspective On My Life
According to Ask.com, "Cultural perspective refers to the way that individuals are shaped by their
environments, plus social and cultural factors. Such factors include a person 's nationality, race and

numerous theories. Such as conformity, internalize commitment, post conventional, individuative–
reflective and democratic.
Conformity
Conforming is when you "identify closely with dominant society" (Daniels, 2015). Starting fifth
grade year, I began attempting to conform to the dominant society, since that was the majority of my
school's population. I began to listen to an epitome of rock music and do my hair a certain way.

After a horrible experience, I began to love myself and truly identify with the beauty within me. In
high school, I tended to love my culture, although I wished that I could find a way to express it,
further. Besides learning a considerable amount with reference to my heritage, in college, I found a
way to honestly internalize my culture. I had finally reached the internalized–commitment stage
where:
Healthy racial identity development is achieved when Blacks progress through a series of linear
stages commencing with degrading thoughts and feelings about themselves and other Blacks
accompanied by idealized beliefs about Whites, and ends with internalized positive feelings about
themselves, other Blacks, and other racial groups. (p. 96) (Ritchey, 2015)
Becoming naturally haired truly jumpstarted my thirst for knowledge pertaining to my culture. I
began to truly understand and internalize the pain and achievements of my ancestors. During this
process though, I learned to have an enhanced respect and recognize the positives in other cultures,
to boot. This modified my ontogeny, because turning natural lent a hand to me, too truly, for the first
time in my life, genuinely and completely love myself. Thus, granting me the poise and dignity to be
the noblest person I can. To summarize, though it took various stages to become internalization
commitment, along the journey I found an appreciation for who I am.

Google's search engine allows users to input and submit data online. In return, the user would

War the draft helped to maintain the numbers of the U.S. armed forces. The Selective Service
System drafted 1.5 million men during the Korean War. During the Vietnam War, draftees were a
minority of the United States armed forces. However they accounted for over half of Army battle
deaths. At the time of the Vietnam War many people were against the draft and the war itself. This
meant that there were many protests against the draft. Eventually President Nixon reduced the
number of draftees and gradually recalled troops from Vietnam. The draft officially ended in1973.

Essay about The Impact of the Internet in America
The Impact of the Internet in America
The prevalence of the internet has had a tremendous impact on American society in terms of
physical health and emotional well–being. In the following pages, I will attempt to briefly highlight
some of the positive and negative impacts I feel today's internet technology has had on people living
in The United States of America.
Public internet access can be found in most libraries or internet cafes. Internet Service Providers
offer access to individuals in their homes as well as schools and businesses. To begin with, I utilized
a popular website, Ask Jeeves http://ask.com, to help locate a definition of what exactly is the
internet. "The Internet, sometimes called simply 'The Net,' is a ... Show more content on

This type of information may be found on websites such as Web MD http://webmd.com, Medline

information found on the previous pages to help determine if they should seek further care from
their physician. It is important to note that health information found on these pages is no substitute

information page disclaimer: "Do not rely upon any of the information provided on this site for

In another example of the positive impact of the internet is how health information access can affect
family life. For example, a parent of a child diagnosed with a learning disability can obtain special
education information from the internet. This type of information can be a valuable tool for parents,
other family members, and educators to help a child with a learning

the names of the gladiators, their classes and who they are. We will also discuss how the gladiators
obtained their freedom. What is the gladiator? The gladiator is a person who was often a slave or
captive of war. (Gladiator). They often fought to the death. Most of the time they fought in an open

There were four main groups, or classes, of gladiators. There was the heavily armored, the elites, the
lightly armored, and the unusual ones. The heavily armored class is pretty self–explanatory. They
wore thick, or heavy armor, and were usually paired against one of the lightly armored gladiators.
Here is a brief description about the heavily armored gladiators and a little about them. The
Cataphractarius was a heavily armored gladiator that was heavily protected. They originated from
the cavalry from the Persian Empire, Germany, the Samaritans in Russia and Central Asia. They
were covered from head to toe with armor, as well as their horse (types). The Murmillones were
Roman based gladiator that was developed to fight the Retiarii, the net fighter. The main focus of the
armor of this gladiator is the helmet. The helmet had a fish on the crest and supported the name of
the fighter (murmillones). Another type of gladiator is the Scissores. Little is known about the
gladiator besides the weapons. They had two swords and their nick name was "slashers" or
"carvers". These nick names leave brutal images in the brain for the imagination to conjure up
(scissors). The Hoplomachi, or Samnite, was a heavily armored gladiator who displayed a griffin
styled on their helmets. They also had wool quilted leg rapping on their legs as well as a set of shin
guards. They also sported a round shield that was small. To go along with the shield

Case 5 Analysis – Google’s Country Experience: France,...
Background Summary Founded on September 4, 1998 Google quickly revolutionized the search
engine and the Internet alike. Within two years of starting operations Google had become the largest
single search engine in the world and began to dominate the market. As the World Wide Web (web)
grew in popularity and became more and more a part of everyone's daily life, Google too grew in
popularity "because it could provide simple, fast, and relevant search results" (Deresky, 2011). The
differentiating factor was Google's "PageRank technology which displays results...by looking for
keywords inside web pages, but also gauging the importance of a search result based on the number

Issues Facing Google Issue 1 – Google did not exercise due diligence before entering the global
market and did not partner with a local entity. The lack of research and development caused a major
failure for Google's entrance to France, Germany and Japan. Not partnering with a local entity led to
unsuccessful bridging to cultural barriers which led to many mistakes. Starting with France, Google
began growing rapidly by facilitating a direct point of contact to the French businesses. Google
started targeting by language, by country and by keyword in its advertising programs. Soon, Google
became the dominant search engine in France and offered services in regional French dialects. One
of the biggest mistakes Google made was doing research about its competitors and not preparing
itself for any downfalls. As the case explains,"Europe's patchwork of language and cultures was
seen as an advantage by companies, seeking to break into the search market to complete with
Google, by entering demand for locally focused search". The French and German governments
reacted with plans to developing their country–specific search engines. The French and German
Governments put for the Quaero plan, which was endorsed by President Chirac and the German
chancellor Gerhard Schroder, and "would be superior to existing search engine technology"
(Deresky, 2011). The lack of research before

Personal Narrative: The 42A30 Incident
My first disturbing encounter with SFC Wilson was in November 2016, we were housed in lodging
across from one another and he made the remark that I should make sure my door is secure and
rattled off my key door lock number. After that incident, I shoved the sofa that was in my room up
against the door every night until I moved to permanent housing. I was very relieved that I would be
away from him so that I could sleep better at night. The second incident was during the first course

Pedagogy
Pedagogy focuses on educating children. In pedagogy, teachers decide what will be learned, how it
will be learned, and why it is important that it be learned. Teachers are in charge of the learning
process. This is a more controlled learning environment, making it more effective in children than in
adults. A controlled learning environment can cause resentment and cause the learner to not want to
learn because they can't learn on a level that is comfortable and effective for them. Andragogy was
first only focused on helping adult learners. One belief listed in the adragogic model is that learners
won't learn until they are ready and motivated by overcoming restrictions such as behaviors, beliefs,

Fulfillment "Money has never made man happy, nor will it, there is nothing in its nature to produce
happiness. The more of it one has, the more one wants." (Benjamin Franklin). We are never satisfied
when we are focused on objects as opposed to fulfillment in life. People are constantly striving for
fulfillment, we always want the next big thing, the latest and greatest, life has become a competition
for who "seems" the most fulfilled. True fulfillment comes from within. It's not always material
things or luxurious lifestyles that money can buy, it's more deep than that its pure happiness and
satisfaction for attaining your own personal goals and achievements. You may be the most rich and
successful person in the world but still feel as though you aren't fulfilled with your life. We often get
consumed by the shallow, unrealistic false reality of life. Money and things can only be so fulfilling,
some of the wealthiest people don't ever obtain true fulfillment. A long lasting fulfillment is what we
should be searching for, the type of fulfillment that creates the happiness we deserve. No matter
what your status is in life everyone has the ability to feel the same level of fulfillment; race, age,
gender, and wealthiness doesn't differentiate or determine the fulfillment you feel. "We buy things

Google's Country Experiences: France, Germany, Japan A search engine is designed to help people
find information stored on the World Wide Web. There are differences in the way various search
engines work, but they all perform the same basic functions. They search the internet–or selected
pieces of the internet based on certain keywords. A search engine analyzes the contents of each page
to determine how it should be indexed. The search engine keeps an index of the words they find and
where they find them and allows users to look for words or a combination of words found in that

Its business model of AdWords allowed companies to purchase keywords for advertising purposes.
Advertisers paid on a Cost–Per–Click basis–only when a user clicked on one of its ads. An internet
user searching on that keyword would get organic (unsponsored) results as well as the
advertisements (sponsored links). In 2002, Google released its AdSense service that distributed
relevant ads from advertisers, for display with search results on the Google Network members' sites,
which are a large group of websites and other products such as e–mail programs and blogs, who had
partnered with Google to display AdWords ads. Apart from search, Google expanded its portfolio by
introducing an array of new software and added services. It sought ways to import offline media,
such as books and television shows, into its search engine. Through 2001 to 2007 the company
made about 44 acquisitions, including the video sharing service YouTube. Google continues to
expand in emerging economies specifically in the Asia–Pacific. Google's strategy was to expand its
reach into new international markets. In 2000, Google's new search index that included a large
collection of international websites was released, which acknowledged Google's plan to expand into
new international markets. Google's revenue was increasing more because of its international
income. Because of Google's rapid rise and its dominance, there were concerns in several

America is traditionally known as a Capitalistic Economy, although we have Socialistic undertones.
To be Capitalistic means to have an, "economic system in which industry is privately owned."
("Dictionary.com"). To put it even more simply, we support small businesses. Of course, during
times of economic hardships we tend to be more socialistic, which translate to when we are facing
hardships the government will come in and divide individual property (or income) as necessary.
There are countries out there with a very different view on how to manage their economic system,
like Cuba. Cuba is governed by Communism, which is an economic system that "a system of social
organization in which all economic and social activity is controlled by a totalitarian state dominated
by a single and self–perpetuating political party." ("Dictionary.com"). Our economy affects the

Evidence has shown that Stalin was not a savior to Russia...
Evidence has shown that Stalin was not a savior to Russia by creating economic policies to help
with the agriculture and also modernized Russia. Stalin's plan was to make Russia an industrial
giant, so Stalin created the five–year plan to work on the farms and factories of Russia. Stalin's five–
year plans were a series of nation wide centralized economic plans in the Soviet Union (Wikipedia).
What that meant was that peasants who didn't have jobs were required to work on a specific goal
that Stalin had to increase what was considered as an economy booster. The first Five Year Plan
introduced in 1928, concentrated on the development of iron and steel, machine–tools, electric

Oftentimes, factories inflated their production figures, and the products created were too low in
quality to be used (Trueman). What this meant is that some of the goals were not made and the
products made were useless to sell or trade with. The Third Five Year Plan lasted for only three
years, as it was interrupted by Germany's declaration of war on the Soviet Union during World War
II. As war seemed imminent, this plan focused on the production of weapons and other wartime
materials (Trueman). The Soviet Union mainly contributed resources to the development of
weapons, and constructed additional military factories as needed. Stalin continued to use additional

This is why there are several different types of behaviours used to describe these specialized

would be food, sound and light etc. "Different taxes (plural of taxis) result in response to different
types of stimuli. Each of these forms of taxis can be described by simply adding a prefix to the word

Two neuroscientists Ogi Ogas and Sai Gaddam gathered online data that revealed peoples' sexual

have not been able to get good raw data or insight into peoples' true sexual tastes and sexual
behaviors because people keep theirs private. The usual way sex researchers try to figure this out is
through surveys or just by asking people what they are interested in or what arouses them or what

threat of substitution would also be made hard by the fact that Google constantly is updating and

Threat of New Entry * The threat of a new entry into the markets that Google has established itself

In a point of fact, internet, together with all of these current inventions can be very useful especially
to students. Homework, projects and research activities are simply done with the renowned search
engine called Google; but there are actually a lot of search engines like Yahoo, Bing, Ask.com, and
many more. However, Google is the most prominent. Google has been every student's best study
buddy. According to Sundar Pichai– Google CEO, "The core of what Google is about bringing
information to people".
Education is every people's learning process in a way of teaching, training ,or discussing between a
teacher to student relationship and a parent to child relationship. With education, obtaining ideas,
values ,and knowledge is possible. Without education, life can be really tough, professionals
wouldn't exist and understanding would be difficult. However, students ... Show more content on

The Middle Of An Empty Hallway Of Thomas Jefferson High,...
In the middle of an empty hallway of Thomas Jefferson High, myself and three of my good friends:
Mike, Shaun and Chris. We all stood around thinking of who we were going to ask out at the school.
Mike, the shortest of us all chose first.
Mike, said "I'm asking Sherry Wilson."
"Who?" Shaun asked.
"Sherry Wilson!" Mike said
Shaun replied sarcastically "Oh, that'll be easy!"
Everyone laughed.
"Who are you asking?" Asked Mike, "Mariah Lopez!" Shaun replied. Everybody nodded their head
in agreement. "That's right, Mariah Lopez." Shaun carried on bragging about her special features.
"You know she has a sister right," looking at me. "Nope, I'm good." I replied. "Well who are you
asking then?" asked Mike. "I don't know yet!" I answered. I'm taking Stacy Porter, announced Chris.
I looked shocked, because I just told him last night I was going to ask her. Stacy Porter was 5"4',
light skinned, hazel eyes, white teeth and arched eyebrows. She was simply gorgeous. "So, Mell
(short for Germell) who are you going to ask?" They all asked sounding like a local band hitting the
same note at once. "Oh, I'm going to ask (it was dead silence for about five seconds), suddenly the
bell rang for class. I walked away leaving them puzzled. As I was walking away, I heard Chris say in
a conniving tone "alright we'll meet right back here after class." During second period all I could
think about was Chris picking Stacy ahead of me.
"Mr. Allmond!" "Mr. Allmond!" The teacher was

The Bible Research Paper
The Bible is undoubtedly the most unique book from antiquity to present–day. It is disputed as the
oldest book in the world by some, and only one of the oldest books in the world by others. Yet,
regardless of the dispute as to its age, the Bible is without doubt the world's most popular tome.
"The familiar observation that the Bible is the best–selling book of all time obscures a more startling
fact: the Bible is the best–selling book of the year, every year" (Radosh). "It is the most quoted, the
most published, the most translated, and the most influential book in the history of humankind"
(Geisler and Nix 11). It contains history, poetry, songs, biographies, autobiographies, narratives,
topics on creation, relationships, love, war, money, property, music, parties, weddings, romance,
didactic treatise, personal correspondence, memoirs, satire, law, prophecy, parables, and allegory. ...

But what constitutes this unique and unusual character of the Bible? Is it "divinely" inspired or
purely a spurious and specious fabrication to control, regulate and manipulate the masses? Although
The Bible is the most highly revered, extensively followed, most printed, best–seller of all time, the
question yet arises, among believers and non–believers, all sects of Christians, Hindus, Buddhists,
Muslims, Jews, people from all walks of life and religious beliefs, is The Bible the God–Inspired,
The Written, The Revealed Word of God, or is it a formulation of writings, teachings and tenets of
men to suit their own beliefs and dogma to perpetuate their own selfish desires for control and

The Worstall Article: Strategy To End Censorship Of The...
Ethical Issue – Google The Worstall article discusses the strategy to end censorship of the internet in
two ways. The first is to switch the Chinese search engine and then redirect users to a mirrored
version (Worstall, 2015). Google's settings are precise and competitive with numerous search
engines such as Ask.com, Bing, Yahoo, to name a few. To bring down the China firewalls, Google
has the capability to do so without interference from Chinese authorities, however, this is a big
gamble for Google. Services such as Gmail have been difficult to access in the past, nevertheless,
Google is used globally and "blocking the company entirely would have immediate and disastrous
economic consequences" (Smith, 2013).
The problem with this ethical

Reflection On Community Language Learning.pdfReflection On Community Language Learning

  • 1. Reflection On Community Language Learning Ms. Chilankis instructs group work during the second half of the class period. Five out of six observations show that Bonu is grouped with the same three students with one exceptions. In the regular group, two of the students share the same L1 as Bonu while one doesn't. During collaborative work, the use of their L1 is allowed. But when the class is back together as one group, English is enforced as they need to explain what they did throughout the group session. This is rather interesting to me, seeing how this is what I consider Community Language Learning as explained in the Celce–Murcia article which gives students the free reign to say what they want with the teacher being the facilitator (2014). During all collaborative sessions, Bonu has displayed her BISC quite a bit. She is able to communicate well through her L1, and through her L2 in all group sessions. Example of this included: Laughing at jokes, regular conversation in L2, and following instructions from the teacher. This was best shown through my second observation, where she was grouped with three students who all had a different L1 than Bonu. Her group was working on past and present tense. Another student had trouble with the difference between was and were, and Bonu explained to the student in English that it's based off point of view and whether it's singular or plural. This shows a great example of This shows a good case of Discrete Language Skills that has been explained by Cummins (2005) seeing how she was able to show off her knowledge of grammar. In the interview, it shows that Bonu doesn't have any concerns about the demographics of the classroom. When asked about her feelings regarding group work and solo works, she explained that she prefers group work. I followed up by asking why, and she said that she likes learning from her peers. She also brought up that she speaks English at home with her two siblings, which explains why she well advanced with her BISC. Throughout this interview, I recognized that all her answers were clear enough for me to understand the scope of how she feels. This is a good showing of Conversational Fluency that was described by Cummins (2005, pg. 7). Vocabulary When thinking of her CALP, one recognizable ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Theory Xyz Theory Z Theory Z is an approach to management that advocates matching the organization's culture to that of the larger society and assumes that involved workers are the key to increased productivity. In other words, the values of certain cultures affect the way the employees work, and therefore, those values should be taken into concideration when managing employees of a certain business. Another part of the theory is that, theory Z workers can be trusted to do their jobs to their utmost ability so long as the management can be trusted to support them. Interpreter of theory Z Theory Z was created by Dr. William Ouchi Professor Ouchi spent years researching Japanese companies and examining American companies using the Theory Z ... The desire, under this theory, is to develop a work force, which has more of a loyalty towards staying with the company for an entire career, and be more permanent than in other types of settings. It is expected that once an employee does rise to a position of high level management, they will know a great deal more about the company and how it operates, and will be able to use Theory Z management theories effectively on the newer employees (Luthans, 1989, p. 36). Theory X and Theory Y are theories of human motivation created and developed by Douglas McGregor at the MIT Sloan School of Management in the 1960s that have been used in human resource management, organizational behavior, organizational communication and organizational development. They describe two contrasting models of workforce motivation. Theory X and Theory Y have to do with the perceptions managers hold on their employees, not the way they generally behave. It is attitude not attributes. ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– Theory X In this theory, which has been proven counter effective in most modern practice, management assumes employees are inherently lazy and will avoid work if they can and that they inherently dislike work. • 5. The Non Technical Aspects Of Search Engines And Their Uses To be sure, the non–technical aspects of search engines and their uses is not uncharted territory. Depending on how widely one casts the net, one can find considerable relevant work in past literature across fields. For example, researchers in the areas of library and information science have been interested for a long time in how people find material using various interfaces and databases, and these projects are not unrelated to the questions addressed by the articles in this collection (for a review of some of this work, see Bar–Ilan, 2003; Hsieh–Yee, 2001). However, work in this domain often only focuses on very small and non–representative samples and rarely considers the social context of searching (for a more elaborate discussion of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We also have evidence suggesting that search engine users are not particularly savvy about the behind–the–scenes of search engines. For example, when asked in one study whether they were aware of the distinction between paid and unpaid results, the majority (62%) indicated that they were not (Fallows, 2005). These findings were mirrored by another report asking similar questions in which 56% did not know the difference between the two types of results (iCrossing, 2005). Moreover, the latter findings suggested that this know–how is not randomly distributed among users, but rather that men and younger adults claimed to be more informed about this aspect of search engines than women and older users. Regarding the role of search engines in channeling user attention, although researchers started considering the possible gatekeeping implications of these services years ago (Hargittai, 2000; Introna & Nissenbaum, 2000), little empirical work has followed to examine the extent to which search engines may or may not discriminate against certain types of content while (perhaps unduly) favoring others. Some case studies have examined the censorship of certain types of material by some search engines in particular national contexts (e.g. Finkelstein, 2004; Zittrain & Edelman, 2002), but there is little systematic work considering less controversial ... What arguments are there about veterinary medicine? Different careers in the field of Veterinary medicine There are several different career paths that you can take with a veterinary degree, but there are six main areas of veterinary medicine that include: Private practice, Teaching and research, Industry, etc. First off is Private practice, which is the most common and what most people will think of when talking about veterinary medicine. These are the veterinarians that would regularly perform check– ups on small and large animals, test them for infectious diseases, diagnose them and perform any medical or surgical treatments needed. This also includes veterinary technicians (vet techs) who work alongside the veterinarians, perform certain procedures and tests, and sometimes specialize in surgery or anesthesia. Secondly there's Teaching and research. This field allows for continuous advancement in medicine allowing both humans and animals to live longer and (hopefully) healthier lives. It has also come up with some important findings like isolating viruses and other pathogens such as Salmonella, and learning to control different diseases such as Malaria and Yellow fever. Lastly is Industry. This includes veterinarians that work in pharmaceutical and biomedical research to test, develop and supervise the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Engineering Ethic of the Challenger Space Suttle When it comes to engineering, building, and designing something that will be used by humans, safety is the most important step in the entire process. It should be taken very seriously by all who are involved in a project, but the engineers should be the ones who double, triple or even quadruple check safety issues. Mainly the engineers because it is in their code and law of ethics and safety is the first Canon on the list, "Hold paramount the safety, health, and welfare of the public." (NSPE, 2012). • 11. Personal Narrative : A Personal Life In My Life Who would have thought that a night out with a group of friends would have led to a terrifying tragedy? It was a Sunday after–noon and I had just woken up from a nap. I heard my text tone sound go off. It was Vianna, one of my best friends asking me to go over to a friend's house. Her and my other friend Stephanie was hanging out there, and they had plans on going to sports grill later on to watch the NBA finals. I really did not want to get out of bed, but I hadn't done anything all day so I decided to get dressed, get in my car, and head over to where they were. I showed up to the house and we hung out there for an hour or so, everyone is talking and joking around, having a good time. Then we came to realize how late it was getting and if we wanted to catch the game at sports grill we had to leave immediately. I offered to drive the girls in my car, but everyone wanted to go in one car. So Bryan Stephanie's boyfriend, offered to drive all of us there in his new Lexus. For some reason my gut was telling me not to get in the car and just there in drive my car. I didn't listen; I ended up leaving my car at Bryan's house and got into his car. Bryan was driving, Stephanie was in the passenger seat, Vianna was behind the passenger seat, and I was behind the driver seat. Off we went to sports grills, or at least we thought. The "nature–nurture" question is one of the oldest issues in psychology. This question is applicable to identical twins. They are the same age, same–sex, have the same genes, live in the same house, share same stuff, given identical presents, so in other words, they share the same environment from birth. The researcher tends to know if identical twins really share the same personality. Before moving on to choosing the more suitable PTO policy, we do a research and analysis to have a better understanding about the new unlimited PTO policy. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The typical U.S. employee with paid vacation time took just a little more than half of his or her allowed time off in the previous 12 months, according to an April 2014 Harris survey conducted for Glass door. Just a quarter reported taking all the time off given to them, while 2 in 5 said they had taken 25 percent or less of their available time off (Milligan, 2015). For these employees, they may have the perception that when say "unlimited vacation", it really means that there is "no vacation". Finally, the most serious and important thing is that using the unlimited PTO policy would have potential for employee abused. If an employee chooses to abuse the unlimited PTO policy, it can be difficult to terminate the employee for absence because he or she is technically allowed to take that time off. The possibility of employee abuse exists, but there are ways to curb it. For example, we can limit how much time off employees can take at once, implement companywide systems requiring preapproval of vacation time, and ensure fair and equal treatment across the board. Establishing and reviewing performance goals can also help mitigate this challenge (Unlimited, n.d.). According to the analysis, I would suggest our company try the unlimited PTO policy. The more of it one has, the more one wants." (Benjamin Franklin). We are never satisfied when we are focused on objects as opposed to fulfillment in life. People are constantly striving for fulfillment, we always want the next big thing, the latest and greatest, life has become a competition for who "seems" the most fulfilled. True fulfillment comes from within. It's not always material things or luxurious lifestyles that money can buy, it's more deep than that its pure happiness and satisfaction for attaining your own personal goals and achievements. You may be the most rich and successful person in the world but still feel as though you aren't fulfilled with your life. We often get consumed by the shallow, unrealistic false reality of life. Money and things can only be so fulfilling, some of the wealthiest people don't ever obtain true fulfillment. A long lasting fulfillment is what we should be searching for, the type of fulfillment that creates the happiness we deserve. No matter what your status is in life everyone has the ability to feel the same level of fulfillment; race, age, gender, and wealthiness doesn't differentiate or determine the fulfillment you feel. "We buy things we don 't need with money we don 't have to impress people we don 't like."(David Ramsey). Possessions don't create fulfillment, we are the only ones who can create fulfillment ... There are differences in the way various search engines work, but they all perform the same basic functions. They search the internet–or selected pieces of the internet based on certain keywords. A search engine analyzes the contents of each page to determine how it should be indexed. In 2002, Google released its AdSense service that distributed relevant ads from advertisers, for display with search results on the Google Network members' sites, which are a large group of websites and other products such as e–mail programs and blogs, who had partnered with Google to display AdWords ads. Evidence has shown that Stalin was not a savior to Russia by creating economic policies to help with the agriculture and also modernized Russia. Stalin's plan was to make Russia an industrial giant, so Stalin created the five–year plan to work on the farms and factories of Russia.
