Becoming a Computeri Illustrator
It's sometimes– okay, almost always – hard for a person to answer the question "What do you want
to be when you grow up?" Being asked this simple–sounding question so often by our friends, we
begin to wonder and worry to the point where we're terrified to even think about it anymore. Of
course, as long as we're working hard to achieve our goals, there's nothing to fear. The key to
staying calm while making such a decision that will decide our future is to break down the process
of choosing into a few steps. Step one is to discover what our interests and hobbies are. No one
wants to be stuck doing a job they hate. The next step is to look at what jobs include your interests
(e.g., if you like animals and the care of them, you might consider becoming a veterinarian). After
that, you'll search for more details such as annual salary, employment rate, and the education you'll
need to know how to do the job right. This is exactly how I have discovered what I want to do when
I grow up. My interests include drawing, painting, and basically everything under the category of
art, so I find the illustrator's career to be a dream come true. With a bit of thorough research, I've
found the career that is right for me. An illustrator draws or paints pictures to connect ideas,
feelings, or factual information ("Illustrator" para. 3). They work to make commercial pieces that
persuade or entertain an audience with a certain style of art ("Illustrator" para. 3). These are the
people that drew

1950s Women's Magazines
Right of the bat, the 1950s saw magazine and publishing companies facing an exponential growth in
popularity. Due in part to the public's fear of both the "Cold War" and the "Korean War", family
oriented magazines like The Saturday Evening Post and Look continued to post articles highlighting
current events, fictional stories, family life and illustration. As they grew to the top of the consumer
market, women became the primary demographic for these magazines. The most prolific magazines
in the women's market where Ladies Home Journal, Woman's Day, Woman's Home Companion,
Good Housekeeping, Redbook, McCall's and Cosmopolitan. (www.illustrationhistory.org)
However, men's magazines Playboy and Esquire, were also able to share a piece of the fame. As a
result, illustrators such as Al Parker, Austin Briggs, John Whitcomb, Joe De Mers, Bernie D'Andrea
and his wife Lorraine Fox were able to maintain a steady workflow. The competition soon enough
was fierce, as advertising agencies gained notoriety, living magazine companies no other choice but
to give their illustrators strict guidelines to follow. Instead of the freedom they once had, illustrators
were forced to draw what the magazine companies wanted them to draw.

In other words, blonde hair, dark–penciled eyebrows, red lipstick, and a "peaches & cream"
complexion for the females; and a tan complexion with their face half–hidden for the males. Rather
than reel illustrators in, these rules and regulations turned them away (www.illustrationhistory.org).
As the latter half of the decade kicked, a plethora of new art movements made their way into the
spotlight: Neo–Dada, Kinetic and Op Art, Gutai, Pop Art, Happenings and Fluxus

Illustrators In The 1800s
At the beginning of the 1800s illustrators like Felix Octavius Carr Darley were typically on staff at
printing companies, or in the newspaper offices. On average they would create their works with on–
the–block engravers or lithographic stone plates. If they weren't appointed to draw, coloring was
their alternative means of collecting a paycheck. However, such opportunities went to a very meager
amount of illustrators because at the time art training was scarce in America, so most illustrators had
to teach themselves. However, overseas in Europe the illustration profession fared much better.
(www.illustrationhistory,org) In England and France, illustrators were tasked with composing
satirical prints, books, journals and posters; as long as they had some formal education or prior
workshop experience. When illustrating these forms of media, especially books, it was their job to
devise artwork that would entice the reader to pick up the novel,or provide inspiration for the writers
themselves. Overall, the early 1800s saw illustration still in its general stages of development.
However, eventually that all changed (www.illustrationhistory.org) ... Show more content on

As a result, the distribution of magazines, books, and newspaper became more efficient. Which in
turn made it much easier for the populace to get a hold of current events. In regards to illustrators,
they were tasked to render on the site sketches, political/allegorical cartoons and illustrations for
stories. Although if they wanted their work published, illustrators had to hand over their artwork to
wood engravers, who would then transfer the artwork onto presses.

Importance Of Page Layout
Perfecting a Layout with InDesign The layout of created components is key to finalizing a document
and InDesign is the principal tool in building a professional quality layout for print and digital
publishing. Specialized artists, designers and publishers all rely on this software to manage images,
text, and all created assets into their preferred format. Working with the Creative Cloud Programs
Illustrator and Photoshop, allow you to create and alter assets with precision and control. However,
there are many advantages in utilizing InDesign over these programs, for both manufacturing design

was created to lay out print quality work which is ideal for experienced users who are looking for
perfection. Professionals take advantage of this software to refine their work so that it is publication

utensils as an Illustrator or Photoshop, but it does offer many advantages. InDesign does offer great
tools when it comes to enhancing a photo's properties and even some filter options. Although you
have the capability to design layouts with Photoshop or Illustrator, InDesign links all creative assets
outside of the work, creating a much more manageable size of document. This makes InDesign the
most efficient software for commercial printers as well, combining all media so that the layout is in
the precise style you choose. InDesign recognizes your color selection much better than other
software, once again giving you more control with your final product. InDesign surpasses the other
Adobe programs when it comes to creations that are on a layout of more than one page. It also has

Using Adobe Photo Shop Cs2
Do you own Adobe Photo shop? Have you ever seen pictures of hearts or stars and ever wandered
how people created them? Have no worries, it 's not difficult at all. It 's actually quite easy, and I will
explain how to do so. During this tutorial we will be using Adobe Photo shop CS2. Adobe is the best
Graphics Program to design in. I highly recommend it to anyone who does not have it. First, you
will need to open up a new blank document. You can make the size any size that you want. I am
using a 200 x 200 pixels white document. Once you have the new document opened you will want
to select a color you want to use. For this tutorial I will be using the color red. After you select the
perfect color that fits your needs, go to the Custom Shapes tool (Picture 1). After you click it, a tool
bar will appear at the top. You will need to click the drop down arrow and search for your heart or
any other shape you 'd like to use (Picture 2). After you have selected the shape that you 'd like to
use, go to your blank document and click it and the shape will start to appear once you move it on
the document. Stretch out the shape until it fits your taste (Picture 3). Now you have your heart.
Looks pretty cool, huh? Well we will now make it look even prettier by adding special effects to the
heart. Go to your Layers Palette and right click and select Blending Options. A box will pop up on
your screen. Now you want to click Stroke, and change the color to the same color as the heart,

Personal Marketing Plan Essay
I want to use my personal marketing plan as a chance to get to know myself better, and be able to
tell future employers what I do best at. While I have made resumes in the past, this is a first very in
depth eight page one I have created.
One of the three most significant events in my life that have shaped me in the way that I am is the
memory of doing art with my family. Ever since I was little I remember playing with clay at my
grandmother's house. My aunts would also help shape my creative side by tracing Disney characters
and showing me how to draw them. As long as I can remember I always had art with me. From the
early days of preschool to now I have always gone the route of creating things. The second event
that influenced me was taking many art courses in high school. This allowed me to improve my
skills and create new pieces. I was able to explore new techniques on my own time and made my
own personal work schedule. The last event that influenced me was my first attempt at doing the
BFA portfolio review. The BFA is the Bachelor of Fine arts review that you have two attempts to
take the review. You have to have a score of 100 out of 150 to pass and if you do not pass you can
not continue with the graphic design degree program at FHSU. When I first took the portfolio
review I thought I did well. I had spent all night working on my projects and setting things up to be
reviewed. When I got back my envelope a week later stating whether I had passed or failed, I read

Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop: How Are They...
I have been working with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator since October of last year and
noticed that there were some things that I could do with one program and not with the other. I was a
bit curious about it and the thought that rose in my mind was what is the difference and similarity of
the two Programs. I often use them hand and hand, knowing that they really compliment the work of
each other. So with that question in mind, I decided to do a little research on the Adobe Illustrator
and Adobe Photoshop and what I discovered was that they had more differences than they have
similarities. I was thinking that they would have more in common. But according to the information
found online, they are not.
Illustrator, which allows me ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It creates bitmapped images. Bitmap Images is one of many types of file formats for images stored
in a programmed form. It carries the extension .BMP. Computers use bits of 1 and 0 to store data. A
bitmap is literally a map of bits that form a particular picture when rendered to a display like a
computer monitor. Adobe Photoshop is a well known program used by digital photographers around
the world. The great quantity of Photoshop tips and tutorials make this a very easy program to learn
and to use. Photoshop can be used to take any existing image and give it a professional, polished
looked. Borders can be added and pictures tweaked to look better than any digital camera could
make possible. Almost anything I can think of doing to a picture is accomplished when using adobe
Photoshop. Bitmaps are much larger than vector file size and can lose quality when enlarged or
reduced.
Even though I have listed a great deal of differences between the two programs, there is still a small
array of similarity. Photoshop does acquire some vector art tools, and both Photoshop and Illustrator
both have a huge amount of tutorials and huge uses for digital photographer and graphic designer
and both are equally useful when it comes to creating the best and most stylish images. Both
programs are mentioned a lot over the internet through forums, chat rooms, and discussion groups.

Photoshop : The Best Program For Your Individual Or...
For those that know about Photoshop, they may also know that it is one of the best programs in the
world to help out with all of your photo needs, than Photoshop is the way to go. However, in order
to get the basics, you will also want to know some of the steps to take in order to get the exact photo
prepared for your individual or business needs.
One of the major reasons why some will use Photoshop is to enhance the digital pictures that they
have. Photoshop has several elements that allow you to make small or large changes to your
pictures, so that you can keep the memory exactly like you saw it when the flash to your camera
went off.
The first thing you will want to adjust with any photo is the color and tone that the picture has. If it
is a little too dark or too light, you can always use Photoshop in order to fix the problem. The first
place to go is to layer up at the toolbar area. You can then push 'new adjustment layer ' in order to
get the right contrast up. From here, you can change the brightness and contrast as you want so that
your picture is clearer. You can also push preview in order to see where you want the photo to stop.
Sometime, this alone won 't make your picture quite right. You can go back to the 'Layer ' in the
toolbar and back to 'new adjustment layer. ' You can then click on 'levels ' in order to make extra
changes with your picture. This will allow you to control exactly how much brightness and contrast
is in the picture, and will also give

emotion the illustrator plays on is by using the emotions of Anxiety, worry and concern. He is trying

after the rise and increase of powerful opposition it was too vulnerable to be the German's tank of

saw many technological advances over the duration of the conflict. Many of these came in the form

Why? This is because the Allies were more powerful in combination. Germany's Axis was not as
powerful as you might think, the main powers at the time being England, America and Russia. Hitler
could not essentially find powerful allies to assist him in his "quest". On June 22, 1941, Adolf Hitler
launched his armies eastward in a massive invasion of the Soviet Union, which started the
downward spiral of his power. That and also the fact that he fought on multiple fronts, which after
they were being defeated could only get pushed back into Germany. The Panzer IV, although
powerful could not single–handedly win Germany the war, it would have to be a combined effort of
all technology and overall strategical advantages to help Germany win the war, not just a single (but
powerful)

technicalities of writing and illustrating children's books like being aware of the children's market,

illustration. One artist is a contemporary icon known for his success within the movie industry with
his creations used in the 1980s Oscar winning movie, Alien (HR Giger). H.R. Giger was born in
Chur, Switzerland in 1940. Though he studied architecture and industrial design, he became one of
the most famous surrealist artists concentrating on works of fantastic realism (HR Giger). The other
artist used her illustrations to bring children's literature to mainstream society in the early 1900s:

Uses And Two Types Of Computer Image Adapting Software
Introduction
For facsimile production, Computer image adapting software can practically be divided into two
types. The first type (which includes programs such as Adobe Photoshop and the open–source
Gimp) involves editing the images themselves, e.g., brightness and contrast manipulations, colour
corrections and noise removal. These programs support experienced tools for
foreground/background dissolution. For example, in the case of an inscription's image, ink traces
can be isolated from the background element in order to create a facsimile. In Figs. 1a–b, a
foreground/background selection of a character can be observed developing a facsimile of the

1.1 Illustrator
Adobe Illustrator is an advanced vector–based program. So, unlike Photoshop's pixel–based layout,
it applies mathematical compositions to create vector graphics. In Illustrator, a line consists of two
dots linked by a computer algorithm, rather than just a line of pixels. As a result of this, Illustrator is
used generally to design logos or anything that may need to be printed or exhibited at various sizes
(Wood, 2016). A vector graphic will never drop its quality if it's scaled up or down. Illustrator will
also give you an improved print output since it's not resolution dependent. A disadvantage of
Illustrator is that it can't be used easily to alter images that are earlier created since there are definite
filters and image editing tools available to you (Wood, 2016).

Persuasive Essay About Mental Health
I was in the video group, in my group we have difference ideas when it comes to planning. Since we
never took the time to plan or come up with an idea that everyone agrees with. Therefore, since we
never come up with an idea that everyone agrees with I just went with my idea. Which was to

student organization that I have interview was Mosaic center, NAMI student organization, Women
center, and veteran's services. I interview these individual with my iPhone not with GoPro or Canon

I record them in a week in a half. The most useful for me as a student would have to be the

stigma that is surround mental health. The reason why I found this useful since as a Black American
in my community we didn't talk about mental health. Therefore, for me to record the interviews I
have been expose to a topic that I never known nothing about. From these interviews I learned that
mental health education in schools needs to be a priority. Since Mental illness, particularly

My first attempt with Adobe Creative Suite was during my practicum. Ms. Castillo showed me a
few tasks in Photoshop, but entering the intern, I was introduced to more such as InDesign and
Illustrator. Mrs. Atkins ordered me to use only Adobe because it was a great technical skill to have
and most businesses use it today.
Before using it on my own, she had me examining her tool with the program to get better knowledge
of it. One day after an event, we went to edit photos in Photoshop to post them on Facebook. During
editing, she explained when printing an image, you must save it in CMYK to make the image's
colors stay true. CMYK refers to the four inks used in some color printing: cyan, magenta, yellow,
and key (black). However, if you are posting it for social media purpose, it is best to save in RGB.
The RGB color model is an additive color model in which red, green and blue light are added
together in various ways to reproduce a broad array of colors.

Comparing Forms of Illustration
There are several areas we can explore in regards to specialization in illustration. These areas
include fashion, advertising, technical, editorial, and medical forms.
Although each of these forms has their own unique characteristics and attributes, the two forms that
I am most interested in are advertising and editorial. For some time in my life I used to believe that
these two forms of illustration generally meant the same thing. I was wrong because there are many
dissimilar characteristics between the two. One of the main differences between advertising and
editorial illustration is that advertising illustration uses all kinds of visual images and has a vast
array of mediums available for usage. This includes photographs and sometimes including
illustrations in the design in order to show something that the photograph cannot. According toThe
Art
Institute, "They can emphasize, idealize, and show things that do not exist in reality. In some cases,
an illustration may grab a viewer's attention because they know that the picture is not a photograph
and they admire how well it is drawn" (The Art Institute). In my opinion, the possibilities and
creativity is endless in advertising illustration because there are fewer limitations in contrast to
editorial advertising. Editorial illustration is a form of illustration that primarily uses newspapers
and magazines to cling to. These illustrations are used frequently to convey a message or opinion
about the topic

Mainstream Illustrations Of The 1960's
At the start of the 1960s the first generation of children born after the "baby boom" generation, was
so large in size that socially and culturally their desires became hard to keep up with. The growing
teenagers instituted a rebellion, by ignoring their parent's old–fashioned customs in favor of the rock
& roll and rhythm & blues lifestyle. British rock band the Beatles was a particular favorite of theirs.
Inspiring changes in clothing, new color palettes and a "mod" approach to the landscape of art,
which affected the designs of magazines, posters and advertising. As posters that associated with the
psychological drug experience made their way into various music outlets.

How Does Rockwell Portray Women In The 1940s
Another War (1940s)
The 1940s saw illustrators change the way in which they depicted men and women within their
illustrations. Women were painted to look fair, pretty and porcelain (like a typical housewife); and
men were painted to look rough, hairy, and dark skinned. There was also the debut of film noir, a
style of cinema that used stronger lighting and darker shadows. It inspired illustrators (Edwin
Georgi) to create pieces that gave off a sense of mystery, intrigue, deceit and murder
(www.illustrationhistory.org). Other art styles that were introduced in the decade included Abstract
Expressionism and Color Field Painting (www.theartstory.org).
Unfortunately, the decade also brought in yet another war. This time it was the European war against
Nazi Germany and defense against the Japanese siege into the pacific. In order to obtain a better
understanding of the transpiring events the public turned to various media outlets such as cinemas
and magazines. Propaganda posters and action sequences painted by illustrators Stevan Dohanos,
Dean Cornwell and Saul Tepper helped reap in support for the war. While other illustrators were
physically called onto the field of battle so that they could illustrate the actual events as they
occurred. (www.illustrationhistory.org)

They would often display the everyday person lifestyle and the relationships between the young and
the elderly. His most famous works "Four Freedoms" were reproduced in four consecutive issues of
The Saturday Evening Post collecting a total of $130 million for the war effort. Alas, with great
success comes failure because in 1943 Rockwell lost his Arlington Studio and many of his historical
collections to a fire. In spite of that Rockwell continued his work into the better part of the next
decade thus showcasing his worthiness as a successful artist.

My Desire to Work in Game Development
As a child all I wanted to do was rule the world, I noticed early on in my childhood that all aspects
of computer games development especially programming and games design could help me
accomplish this. I have been playing computer games since before even the PlayStation 2 was
released when my brother got a PlayStation from a another family member. For as much as I have
enjoyed, experienced a wide range of platforms, games and retain my love for this form of
entertainment. One of my favourite games of all time is Kingdom Hearts, on the PlayStation 2 and
developed by Square (later Square Enix); it played brilliantly, was graphically superb and had a
perfect soundtrack.
My resolve of wanting to develop games in the future using the variety of platforms that would be
available, in empowering new technology, I can see that computer games programme gives solid
groundwork within computer science to determine ideal. It would give the necessary skills,
knowledge to learn and evolve with and within growing industry.
Most of time spent reading books similarly comic books/manga etc. such as e.g. Charlie Higson's
The Fear, Darren Shan's The Saga of Darren Shan, Online game magazines, such as PCGamer,
Gamasutra, where I keep up–to–date with the latest news in the games industry, reading game
reviews, learn about different aspects of a career in game development and much more. During June
2013, I attended The Rezzed Expo, a fair for current Game Developers and prospective students

Dr. Chris Van Allburg: The Career Of Illustration
The career of illustration is a unique and fascinating career. where you take ideas and transfer them

image. Chris Van Allsburg had this to say about his creative process "At first, I see pictures of a
story in my mind. Then creating the story comes from asking questions of myself. I guess you might
call it the 'what if – what then' approach to writing and illustration." (Chris Van Allsburg). Many
people ignore illustration and brush it off to the side, but it is incredibly useful for society. One
reason why illustrations are beneficial is because illustrations are fundamental parts of children's

Anne Frank Research Paper
Anne Frank served as an inspiration to many people. She had to live through World War II as a Jew
and eventually go to a concentration camp where she died. She is still an inspiration to many today.
Anne Frank wrote a diary about Jewish life during World War II, innovated a way to raise awareness
for Jewish people, and because of her diary she impacted historians' perspectives of the war.
Anne Frank created a diary that has helped many people fully understand what happened in World
War II. Anne Frank started to write in her diary when her family moved to the Netherlands before
the war started in 1933 because the Natzis started to publicly announce their hatred of Jews. Then

Block City Book Analysis
I chose two books that are about people, but have very different illustrations. The stories are
different. The first book, Stuck is similar to There Once was an Old Lady who Swallowed a Fly
where the boy has to put lots of objects up into the tree to get his kite unstuck. The second book,
Block City is about a boy who builds a city of blocks using his imagination. The illustrations in the
books are vastly different since you are looking at two different pictures of boys. The drawing types
are different as the illustrator put their unique touch on the artwork in each book. The first book is
called Stuck about a boy who got his kite stuck in a tree. This book's illustrations are very simplistic.
The boy, Floyd, has a dot for eyes and a line for his mouth. He has stringy hair and very thin,
disproportionate body compared to his large head. The trees in the pictures are different colors such
as blue, brown, and red. The boy himself changes colors throughout the book, and his colors do not
have much relation to the story. For example on the words on one of the pages is "Then he had an
idea, and went to find a saw." The entire page is blue along with the boy and the light bulb. I would
consider these illustrations to be naïve because they are realistic, but they don't ... Show more

imagination and his city by the sea. An example for Stuck is when a firefighter comes to help,

The illustrator's image using Bang's principles, I see that in this image little red riding hood is the
focal point here because all the eyes and the wolf–like creatures put her right on the spot and instead
the wolves feel surprised that she is there. The rules the illustrator used was the technique of
roundness when making the eyes of the wolves and the hidden eyes, to make the image less
daunting and more secure. The illustrator also used the rule of vertical shapes when creating the
wolf ears making them appear more exciting. Unlike their mouth, the illustrator uses the sharpness
rule which is seen to indicate that these wolves are not supposed to be nice. Another rule the
illustrator used was using symbolism of color for the background by creating a lighter background,
indicating that the reader will feel safe. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Next rule, they used was, the rule of smooth shape, curves, and diagonals to show little red riding
hood. She has a smooth and curvaceous shape to her, implying that she might feel secure and calm,
but also is shaped diagonally, which makes her look like she is looking downward creating some
form of tensity as to assume she is afraid. The illustrator also uses the rules of spatial presence by
using the larger an object is, the stronger it feels by making the wolves bigger than little red riding
hood, while red riding hood is small making her seem like the vulnerable one. The overall effect on
the reader is that when looking at this image, they will feel sorry and scared for little red riding hood
because she seems very small and weak walking alone in the woods while the wolves are surprised

Essay: American Illustration
Essay: American Illustration American illustration went through many changes during the 20th
century. There were major trends seen, including Coles Phillips and his "fadeaway" technique. For
me, that was the artist and technique that stood out the most. It piqued my interest, and made me
realize that I had held a very skewed view of what "art" actually was in the past. History, art, and
illustration have all been changed in my mind by taking this class and by learning so much about
illustration. Coles Phillips' technique was so fascinating to me because of his use of negative space
and the way he used beautiful drawings of stylish women on so many popular magazine covers
during his lifetime. His fadeaway technique let the reader see the complete image of the woman's
skirt, but it also allowed some of it to blend into the background. That created a wonderful illusion
but yet provided the reader with a clear picture of the illustration Coles was offering to the world at
that time. It was surprising to me that someone could do that so well, because I had not seen that
technique used before. In the past, I mostly separated art and illustration. In my mind, they were two
completely different things. Art was something painted on canvas by Monet or Rembrandt, and
illustrations were just drawings done by someone whose name I did not know. I thought illustration
was just pictures in magazines, or cartoons created for the Sunday paper. That is not to say that
illustrations were

as PhotoKey 6 Pro make it possible to render the images seemlessly. Being a CGI technician
requires computer knowledge and takes hours to edit and add in the actors into the computer
generated world. An example of a seemless CGI movie is Avatar which cost $425,000,000 to make
but grossed $2.7 Billion worldwide (www.the–numbers.com/movie/budgets/). For every 1/24 of a
second or one frame of film it took 47 hours of rendering (www.imdb.com/title/tt0499549/trivia).
There are specialized training school for Special Effects Technicians, such as the Art institute with

Technician does, what kind of monetary compensation do they earn. A person can specialize in one
or more areas of expertise.

Becoming A Computeri Illustrator

  • 1. Becoming a Computeri Illustrator It's sometimes– okay, almost always – hard for a person to answer the question "What do you want to be when you grow up?" Being asked this simple–sounding question so often by our friends, we begin to wonder and worry to the point where we're terrified to even think about it anymore. Of course, as long as we're working hard to achieve our goals, there's nothing to fear. The key to staying calm while making such a decision that will decide our future is to break down the process of choosing into a few steps. Step one is to discover what our interests and hobbies are. No one wants to be stuck doing a job they hate. The next step is to look at what jobs include your interests (e.g., if you like animals and the care of them, you might consider becoming a veterinarian). After that, you'll search for more details such as annual salary, employment rate, and the education you'll need to know how to do the job right. This is exactly how I have discovered what I want to do when I grow up. My interests include drawing, painting, and basically everything under the category of art, so I find the illustrator's career to be a dream come true. With a bit of thorough research, I've found the career that is right for me. An illustrator draws or paints pictures to connect ideas, feelings, or factual information ("Illustrator" para. 3). They work to make commercial pieces that persuade or entertain an audience with a certain style of art ("Illustrator" para. 3). These are the people that drew ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. 1950s Women's Magazines Right of the bat, the 1950s saw magazine and publishing companies facing an exponential growth in popularity. Due in part to the public's fear of both the "Cold War" and the "Korean War", family oriented magazines like The Saturday Evening Post and Look continued to post articles highlighting current events, fictional stories, family life and illustration. As they grew to the top of the consumer market, women became the primary demographic for these magazines. The most prolific magazines in the women's market where Ladies Home Journal, Woman's Day, Woman's Home Companion, Good Housekeeping, Redbook, McCall's and Cosmopolitan. (www.illustrationhistory.org) However, men's magazines Playboy and Esquire, were also able to share a piece of the fame. As a result, illustrators such as Al Parker, Austin Briggs, John Whitcomb, Joe De Mers, Bernie D'Andrea and his wife Lorraine Fox were able to maintain a steady workflow. The competition soon enough was fierce, as advertising agencies gained notoriety, living magazine companies no other choice but to give their illustrators strict guidelines to follow. Instead of the freedom they once had, illustrators were forced to draw what the magazine companies wanted them to draw. (www.illustrationhistory.org) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Rather than reel illustrators in, these rules and regulations turned them away (www.illustrationhistory.org). As the latter half of the decade kicked, a plethora of new art movements made their way into the spotlight: Neo–Dada, Kinetic and Op Art, Gutai, Pop Art, Happenings and Fluxus (www.theartstory.org). • 5. Illustrators In The 1800s At the beginning of the 1800s illustrators like Felix Octavius Carr Darley were typically on staff at printing companies, or in the newspaper offices. On average they would create their works with on– the–block engravers or lithographic stone plates. If they weren't appointed to draw, coloring was their alternative means of collecting a paycheck. However, such opportunities went to a very meager amount of illustrators because at the time art training was scarce in America, so most illustrators had to teach themselves. However, overseas in Europe the illustration profession fared much better. (www.illustrationhistory,org) In England and France, illustrators were tasked with composing satirical prints, books, journals and posters; as long as they had some formal education or prior workshop experience. When illustrating these forms of media, especially books, it was their job to devise artwork that would entice the reader to pick up the novel,or provide inspiration for the writers themselves. Overall, the early 1800s saw illustration still in its general stages of development. However, eventually that all changed (www.illustrationhistory.org) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a result, the distribution of magazines, books, and newspaper became more efficient. Which in turn made it much easier for the populace to get a hold of current events. Although if they wanted their work published, illustrators had to hand over their artwork to wood engravers, who would then transfer the artwork onto presses. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Personal Marketing Plan Essay I want to use my personal marketing plan as a chance to get to know myself better, and be able to tell future employers what I do best at. While I have made resumes in the past, this is a first very in depth eight page one I have created. One of the three most significant events in my life that have shaped me in the way that I am is the memory of doing art with my family. Ever since I was little I remember playing with clay at my grandmother's house. My aunts would also help shape my creative side by tracing Disney characters and showing me how to draw them. As long as I can remember I always had art with me. From the early days of preschool to now I have always gone the route of creating things. The second event that influenced me was taking many art courses in high school. This allowed me to improve my skills and create new pieces. I was able to explore new techniques on my own time and made my own personal work schedule. The last event that influenced me was my first attempt at doing the BFA portfolio review. The BFA is the Bachelor of Fine arts review that you have two attempts to take the review. You have to have a score of 100 out of 150 to pass and if you do not pass you can not continue with the graphic design degree program at FHSU. When I first took the portfolio review I thought I did well. I had spent all night working on my projects and setting things up to be reviewed. Along with my quick and easy imagination others have always been surprised with how fast I can illustrate something. That seems to impress others as much as my natural ability to draw. • 17. Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop: How Are They... I have been working with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator since October of last year and noticed that there were some things that I could do with one program and not with the other. I was a bit curious about it and the thought that rose in my mind was what is the difference and similarity of the two Programs. I often use them hand and hand, knowing that they really compliment the work of each other. So with that question in mind, I decided to do a little research on the Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop and what I discovered was that they had more differences than they have similarities. I was thinking that they would have more in common. But according to the information found online, they are not. Illustrator, which allows me ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It creates bitmapped images. Bitmap Images is one of many types of file formats for images stored in a programmed form. It carries the extension .BMP. Computers use bits of 1 and 0 to store data. A bitmap is literally a map of bits that form a particular picture when rendered to a display like a computer monitor. Adobe Photoshop is a well known program used by digital photographers around the world. The great quantity of Photoshop tips and tutorials make this a very easy program to learn and to use. Photoshop can be used to take any existing image and give it a professional, polished looked. Borders can be added and pictures tweaked to look better than any digital camera could make possible. Almost anything I can think of doing to a picture is accomplished when using adobe Photoshop. Bitmaps are much larger than vector file size and can lose quality when enlarged or reduced. Even though I have listed a great deal of differences between the two programs, there is still a small array of similarity. Photoshop does acquire some vector art tools, and both Photoshop and Illustrator both have a huge amount of tutorials and huge uses for digital photographer and graphic designer and both are equally useful when it comes to creating the best and most stylish images. For those that know about Photoshop, they may also know that it is one of the best programs in the world to help out with all of your photo needs, than Photoshop is the way to go. However, in order to get the basics, you will also want to know some of the steps to take in order to get the exact photo prepared for your individual or business needs. One of the major reasons why some will use Photoshop is to enhance the digital pictures that they have. Photoshop has several elements that allow you to make small or large changes to your pictures, so that you can keep the memory exactly like you saw it when the flash to your camera went off. The first thing you will want to adjust with any photo is the color and tone that the picture has. If it is a little too dark or too light, you can always use Photoshop in order to fix the problem. The first place to go is to layer up at the toolbar area. You can then push 'new adjustment layer ' in order to get the right contrast up. From here, you can change the brightness and contrast as you want so that your picture is clearer. You can also push preview in order to see where you want the photo to stop. Sometime, this alone won 't make your picture quite right. You can go back to the 'Layer ' in the toolbar and back to 'new adjustment layer. ' You can then click on 'levels ' in order to make extra changes with your picture. This will allow you to control exactly how much brightness and contrast is in the picture, and will also give ... On June 22, 1941, Adolf Hitler launched his armies eastward in a massive invasion of the Soviet Union, which started the downward spiral of his power. That and also the fact that he fought on multiple fronts, which after they were being defeated could only get pushed back into Germany. Aside from the technicalities of writing and illustrating children's books like being aware of the children's market, getting seen, submitting work to the publishing companies, and succeeding overall, the fulfillment the job brings is of no measurement. Indeed, artists find themselves able to freely express themselves through messages, stories, and illustrations while influencing future generations with their work. One artist is a contemporary icon known for his success within the movie industry with his creations used in the 1980s Oscar winning movie, Alien (HR Giger). H.R. Giger was born in Chur, Switzerland in 1940. Though he studied architecture and industrial design, he became one of the most famous surrealist artists concentrating on works of fantastic realism (HR Giger). The other artist used her illustrations to bring children's literature to mainstream society in the early 1900s: Helen Beatrix Potter. The first type (which includes programs such as Adobe Photoshop and the open–source Gimp) involves editing the images themselves, e.g., brightness and contrast manipulations, colour corrections and noise removal. These programs support experienced tools for foreground/background dissolution. For example, in the case of an inscription's image, ink traces can be isolated from the background element in order to create a facsimile. So, unlike Photoshop's pixel–based layout, it applies mathematical compositions to create vector graphics. In Illustrator, a line consists of two dots linked by a computer algorithm, rather than just a line of pixels. As a result of this, Illustrator is used generally to design logos or anything that may need to be printed or exhibited at various sizes (Wood, 2016). A vector graphic will never drop its quality if it's scaled up or down. Illustrator will also give you an improved print output since it's not resolution dependent. In addition, when it comes to the interview I record them in a week in a half. The reason why I found this useful since as a Black American in my community we didn't talk about mental health. • 44. Comparing Forms of Illustration There are several areas we can explore in regards to specialization in illustration. These areas include fashion, advertising, technical, editorial, and medical forms. Although each of these forms has their own unique characteristics and attributes, the two forms that I am most interested in are advertising and editorial. For some time in my life I used to believe that these two forms of illustration generally meant the same thing. I was wrong because there are many dissimilar characteristics between the two. One of the main differences between advertising and editorial illustration is that advertising illustration uses all kinds of visual images and has a vast array of mediums available for usage. This includes photographs and sometimes including illustrations in the design in order to show something that the photograph cannot. According toThe Art Institute, "They can emphasize, idealize, and show things that do not exist in reality. In some cases, an illustration may grab a viewer's attention because they know that the picture is not a photograph and they admire how well it is drawn" (The Art Institute). In my opinion, the possibilities and creativity is endless in advertising illustration because there are fewer limitations in contrast to editorial advertising. Women were painted to look fair, pretty and porcelain (like a typical housewife); and men were painted to look rough, hairy, and dark skinned. There was also the debut of film noir, a style of cinema that used stronger lighting and darker shadows. It inspired illustrators (Edwin Georgi) to create pieces that gave off a sense of mystery, intrigue, deceit and murder (www.illustrationhistory.org). Other art styles that were introduced in the decade included Abstract Expressionism and Color Field Painting (www.theartstory.org). Unfortunately, the decade also brought in yet another war. This time it was the European war against Nazi Germany and defense against the Japanese siege into the pacific. In order to obtain a better understanding of the transpiring events the public turned to various media outlets such as cinemas and magazines. Propaganda posters and action sequences painted by illustrators Stevan Dohanos, Dean Cornwell and Saul Tepper helped reap in support for the war. The second book, Block City is about a boy who builds a city of blocks using his imagination. There were major trends seen, including Coles Phillips and his "fadeaway" technique. For me, that was the artist and technique that stood out the most. It piqued my interest, and made me realize that I had held a very skewed view of what "art" actually was in the past. History, art, and illustration have all been changed in my mind by taking this class and by learning so much about illustration. Coles Phillips' technique was so fascinating to me because of his use of negative space and the way he used beautiful drawings of stylish women on so many popular magazine covers during his lifetime. His fadeaway technique let the reader see the complete image of the woman's skirt, but it also allowed some of it to blend into the background. That created a wonderful illusion but yet provided the reader with a clear picture of the illustration Coles was offering to the world at that time. It was surprising to me that someone could do that so well, because I had not seen that technique used before. In the past, I mostly separated art and illustration. In my mind, they were two completely different things. Art was something painted on canvas by Monet or Rembrandt, and illustrations were just drawings done by someone whose name I did not know.
