Purpose/Aim
 To discuss some different models of reflection and
supervision that I can use throughout my student
teaching experience.
 To show some of my own beliefs and things that I think
will work well when student teaching comes around.

Different Types of Reflection
 Some different types of reflection that I would enjoy
doing
 Video Analysis Reflection
 Corrective feed back from my supervisor or co-op
 Jotting down stuff that went well and not so well daily
(almost like a blog)
 Post-Teaching Reflective Analysis
Why Reflect?
 Reflection is one of the most important aspects of
teaching
 Not only does it help yourself, but it also helps your
students
 Gain more knowledge about the content through this
 Bad teachers are usually the ones who skip this element
in teaching
Situated Learning
Model of Supervision
• Learning is active
• People learn
through doing the
task rather than
being lectured
about the task.
• Move through the
model as you
teach.
Developing as a Teacher
 Ways to gain new knowledge as a teacher
 Actually go out in the field and teach
 Communication with others
 Reflection

Reflection presentation

  • 1. Models of Supervision and Reflection Brendan McQuillan
  • 2. Purpose/Aim  To discuss some different models of reflection and supervision that I can use throughout my student teaching experience.  To show some of my own beliefs and things that I think will work well when student teaching comes around.
  • 3. Communication Dr. Harvey Cooperating Teaching Student Teacher • This is one of the most important things when student teaching comes around. • Make sure you are in constant contact with you co-op teacher.
  • 4. Different Types of Reflection  Some different types of reflection that I would enjoy doing  Video Analysis Reflection  Corrective feed back from my supervisor or co-op  Jotting down stuff that went well and not so well daily (almost like a blog)  Post-Teaching Reflective Analysis
  • 5. Why Reflect?  Reflection is one of the most important aspects of teaching  Not only does it help yourself, but it also helps your students  Gain more knowledge about the content through this  Bad teachers are usually the ones who skip this element in teaching
  • 6. Situated Learning Model of Supervision • Learning is active • People learn through doing the task rather than being lectured about the task. • Move through the model as you teach.
  • 7. Developing as a Teacher  Ways to gain new knowledge as a teacher  Actually go out in the field and teach  Communication with others  Reflection
