1. 2nd Formative Task
Connection Between Drama and Bullying
One of the elements of drama is
conflict. Usually the conflict in the
drama refers to an issue and it also
shows the solution of the problem.
One example of an issue is bullying.
When the audiences watch the
drama and they are aware of the
problem which is happening in the
characters’ lives, then they can take
action andknow how to solve the problem.
2. Through drama people can recognizeissues happening around
us.Drama needs to be interesting so people are interested in
watching it. Without conflict in a drama, it probably won’t be
interesting then people will get bored. The actors should act and
perform well to show the issue or conflict, so the audience can
understand the topic. The benefits of using drama are that it can
be used to explain the issue to
the audience. This raises
awareness of the problem. The
performance can be used to
send a message to the
audience, so the audience can
take actions to reduce the
issue or solve problems.
3. Different Types of Drama
5 types of drama
Comedy: Comedy is one of the main types of drama. It is used to entertain the
audience with laughter and it commonly has a happy ending. In comedy if the
humor, or the funny scene, is copied from real-life situations it can become a
shockingly funny performance.
Tragedy: Tragedy is another of the main types of drama. It is one of the oldest
types of drama. In past times tragedy featured the collapse of a great person. But
in more modern times it involves a serious subject and often includes the death of
one of the main characters. It is rarely ends with a happy ending.
Farce: Farce is a sub-category of comedy. This means it is small category of
comedy. It described unrealistic characters and situations. Farce commonly
involves wrong identities, lots of physical comedy and a shocking plot mix.
Melodrama: Melodrama is also another type of unrealistic drama. The average
storyline of the classic melodrama commonly involves a villain, a heroine and a
hero who must rescue the heroine from the villain.

acting and also through music and dance. Musicals are often comedic, although
many do involve serious subject matter. Most involve a large cast and gorgeous
sets and costumes.
4. On February 6th
, 2014, we interviewed Mr.
Hari, SekolahCiputra counselor, and Ms.
Natalie, grade 5 English teacher. They
experienced a bullying program with the
students. In our interview, we asked Mr.
Hari and Ms. Natalie several questions
regarding bullying. The questions that we
asked were:
1. Do you think bullying happens in our
school?
2. Why does bullying happen?
3. What are the kinds of bullying that
usually happen in our school??
4. How will you help fix the bullying problem at school?
5. How do you help the victim of the bullying?
6. What is the most effective way to reduce bullying?
We make a summary from the interview result.
Bullying happens everywhere and anytime even in public places, schools and at work. Bullying
happens because the bullies want to seek attention and prove that they are more powerful and that
they are the best. Some kinds of bullying are making fun of someone’s name andstealing the
belongings of others. When bullying happens, we have to find ways out how to solve it.
5. Mr. Hari’s shared the ways, which in his experience, help the bullying problem in
SekolahCiputra. First find the evidence, then find the bullies and gather information.
Second, deal the problem with the class teacher and if necessarycall the parents. The
process is complicated and many people, including the teachers, students and parents,
are involved. The way to help the victim of bullying is to make them think about their
personality and what makes people bully them. It is helpful if a friend of the victim can
help them build more self-confidence.
The case can be helped by the school’s
environment. When we see bullying happen in
front of us, don’t just stand and watch, we
have to help to solve the problem. If we
cannot help or find the ways out, we can ask
help from other people or adults such as the
duty teachers. We have to have confident, so
people won’t bully us. Studying about cause
and impact of bullying will help us to
understand other people’s feeling.
