2. Age
From my primary research and secondary research I have gathered
that indie pop is aimed at young adults around the ages of 16-25.
This is because most of the music narratives and lyrics are a lot
more relatable to people of these ages and can be quite mature so
younger teens may not understand the music as much. Indie pop
also isn’t a widely popular genre at this current time and therefore
they se social media more than perhaps a more poplar genre use
other forms of advertising such as television. This age group are
the mot active social media members so therefore are more likely
to find out about a new artist and their music.
3. Gender
Looking at my primary research and looking at fans of Birdy and other indie pop
music fans I can see that no specific gender is more likely to listen to indie pop
than the other. It is mixed sex, I also looked at fan pictures birdy had taken whilst
ton tour and at concerts and there was a wide range of men and women which
supports that indie pop does not have a gender specific target audience.
4. Occupation
Considering the target audiences age the majority
will still be in some sort of education whether this be
secondary or higher education.
Those who may be in work are more likely to be in a
self employed job and are highly independent.
5. Hobbies
From my research I would say that the target
audience would have hobbies which involve artistic
and creative things. They enjoy being around friends
of similar interests and may have hobbies that aren’t
stereotypical for their age group.
