2.  Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Una conducted five
Front Line Demonstration on turmeric (Var.
Palam Pitamber) for quality post harvest
management.
 During lockdown, farmers telephonically
contacted for post harvest management of
turmeric at domestic level.
 Due to corona pandemic, farmers preferred to
store/process their harvest at domestic level
instead of selling it in the local market. More
over post harvest management helps in
improving the curcuminoid extractability
which increases its economic value.
 Thus keeping the present situation and need
of the farmers in mind, the Kendra decided to
disseminate the simple method of turmeric
processing through WhatsApp messages.

3.  All farmers were advised on WhatsApp to
follow the simple method for processing at
domestic level - (Washing > Boiling /Blanching
in 0.1% soda solution for 45-60 mins until the
forth start appears with typical aroma >
Drying > Coloring > Grinding > Sieving >
Packaging) .
 Besides, dissemination of method of
processing of turmeric, farm women &
anganwadi workers were suggested to learn
the simple method of preparing Turmeric-
Ginger - Lemon drink to boost their immunity
against corona pandemic on video calls.
 Anganwadi workers were also motivated to
popularize Turmeric- Ginger - Lemon healthy
drink among the rural women for boosting
their immunity against corona.
