History of Clothing
The History of Clothes
Egypt
Men
All men wore a wrap–round skirt that was tied at the waist with a belt. Sometimes the material was wrapped
around the legs as well. The length of the skirt varied depending on the fashion of the time – in the time of
the Old Kingdom they were short while in the Middle Kingdom they were calf length. During the New
Kingdom period it was fashionable to wear a pleated garment.
Rich Egyptian men were able to afford the best quality linen which was very fine and almost see–through.
Rich Egyptian men also wore as much jewelry as they could afford and decorated their clothes. They also
wore headdresses for special occasions.

Women
Women also wore different kinds of clothes depending on who they were. All women wore at least one
tunic down to their ankles. Many women, if they could afford it, wore a linen under–tunic and a woolen
over–tunic, and often a wool cloak over that if they were going outside. On their legs women sometimes
wore woven tights or socks, but women never wore pants. Nuns wore tunics like other women, but
generally in black or white rather than colors. Noblewomen often wore fancy tall hats, sometimes with
streamers coming off them. They sometimes plucked the hair from their foreheads to give themselves very
high foreheads which people thought were beautiful.
17th Century
At the beginning of the 17th century men wore starched collars called ruffs. Women wore frames made of
wood or whalebone under their dresses. However the farthingale was soon discarded and the ruff evolved
into a large lace collar (for those who could afford it!).
Men
In the 17th century men wore knee length, trouser like garments called breeches. They also wore stockings
and boots. On the upper body men wore linen shirts. In the early 17th century they wore a kind of jacket
called a doublet with a cape on top. Men wore their hair long. They also wore beards.
In the late 17th century a man's doublet became a waistcoat and men wore a frock coat over it. With
breeches it was rather like a three–piece suit. Men were now clean shaven and they wore wigs.

Mummies In Ancient Egypt
What is wrapped in lined and put in a coffin forever? Ghastly faces, dried in salt– why would Ancient
Egyptians go to all that trouble for a corpse that no one will ever see again? Mummies are fascinating, and
they have been around for over 5000 years. Ancient Egypt is an ancient civilization in the deserts of Africa.
Ancient Mummies are fascinating due to why Egyptians mummify, how they mummify, and the burial
process.
Ancient Egyptians mummified their dead for special reasons. Egyptians had a wish, the wish to live forever.
They believed that after they died a new life began. Egyptians believed that everyone had a ba, and a ka. A
ba is a soul, and a ka is a invisible twin of the person. Egyptians believed that when a person died, his/her ...

Going into further detail, first small bunches of natron encased in linen were stuffed in the body. The
corpse's brain was removed and most likely thrown away. The Ancient Egyptians believed that the brain
was the least important organ in the body. After 40 days passed by, the natron packs were removed. The
dried, withered body was then swabbed clean and caressed with oils, spices, and resin. They eye sockets
were corked with linen and closed. The nostrils were packed with beeswax. Then the arms were crossed,
and the fingernails and toenails were hidden in caps of gold. The embalming cut, (the cut where the inner
organs were taken out) was then stitched together. The mummy was decorated with jewels, gold, and
precious stones like the Eye of Horus. Then the body was deliberately bound with long, narrow bands of
linen. The fingers, toes, and legs were all wrapped individually. Linen shrouds were arranged between the
layers of binding. Every few layers of linen were glued together with resin. After twenty layers of binding
and linen shrouds, the mummy's body returned it it's normal size. Magic amulets were then inserted in
between the mummy's wrappings, along with small, mummy–shaped figures called shabtis, which held
farm tools. The wrapped head was shrouded with a portrait mask, that way if anything happened to the
mummy the ba and the ka could still recognize it. Then the mask, too, was bound. Lastly, the whole
package was wrapped in a shroud and accustomed a last coat of

The Process Of Ancient Egyptian Embalming
Ancient Egyptian embalming was a very sacred process performed by experienced embalmers. Ancient
Egyptians used to bury the deceased underground, but because of that they decayed faster in a coffin when
they aren't exposed to the hot sand of the desert. That is how they developed the process of embalming to
preserve the bodies. The process begins where the body is taken into an "ibu", a tent also known as the
"place of purification". That is where the embalmers wash the body in palm wine and rinse it off with water
from the Nile. The next step is when one of the men makes a small cut in the left side of the body and
removes the liver, lungs, stomach and also intestines. It is important to remove these internal organs
because they are one of the fastest to decompose. These internal organs are then washed and packed in
natron, a mineral salt that contains hydrated sodium carbonate. The natron will dry out the organs. The heart
is not taken out because Egyptians believed that the heart was the center of intelligence and feeling and the
body will need it in the afterlife. Then, a long hook is inserted into the nose to smash the brain and pull it
out the same way. The body will now be covered and stuffed with natron to dry it out. All of the rags and
fluids that were used in the process are buried with the body. After forty more days, the body is then washed
again and covered in oils to keep the skin elastic. The organs that are dehydrated are wrapped in linen then

How Did Egypt Wear Makeup
Egyptian Fashion/Hair/Makeup During ancient Egypt, the men and women of the civilization has several
unique fashion, hair, and makeup styles. Cosmetics were made of different material that were found around
the community. The fashion, hair, and makeup styles were associated with both hygiene and status in these
ancient times. Aside from having distinctive styles, the Egyptians used their fashion, hair, and makeup
variety for many purposes such as for medical and religious reasons. Both men and women, wore
distinctive makeup and facial products such as eye makeup, face makeup, and certain oils for their hair and
face They also wore perfumed oils that cared for the skin and prevented burning in the sun and damage
from the sandy winds. Egyptians used the makeup for hygiene to take care of their skin and they also
believed that the makeup would resemble the gods and goddesses. According to Egyptian Make Up, "The
higher the status of the person the more clothes and make–up they wore." Men and women were the most

unique, they were also unique with the way they were created. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Women wore mascara made of malachite, or copper ore, for religious and fashion statement. They were
particularly concerned with mascara because it used to recreate the sacred Eye of Re symbol on their own

rarefied fats and alcohol or oils. Eye makeup was not just used as cosmetics, but also medical purposes.
Physicians prescribed the use of kohl for eye diseases and kohl also acted as a deterrent to flies. It was

Final Paper – The Shroud of Turin
Deep inside the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Turin, Italy rests a 14.5 x 3.7 inch long linen cloth. This
shroud is stored in a custom built, temperature and humidity controlled, lighttight case made of bulletproof,
laminated glass, which weighs about 2,200 pounds. On the shroud bears the faint image of a man who has
been crucified. Many believe it to be the actual burial shroud Jesus of Nazareth was wrapped in when he
was buried after crucifixion. This is the Turin Shroud. The image of the man on the shroud bears a striking
resemblance to the historical descriptions of Jesus. Not only that, but all the wounds align precisely with the

In 1532, the shroud was greatly burned in a fire in Savory, whereafter nuns repaired the damage. In 1578,
the shroud was transferred to Turin, Italy where it has remained in the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist ever
since. Further repairs were made to the shroud in 1694 and 1868. The whole rest of world did not learn
about the shroud until 1898 when Italian amateur photographer Secondo Pia took the first photographs of it.
The image on the shroud itself is extremely faint, but Pia's photographic negatives brought out the image in
striking detail. Pia was shocked at what he had discovered. "I was looking into the face of the Lord," he
later said. And just like that, the Turin Shroud spread like wildfire across the globe.
In 1977, science decided to put the shroud under the microscope. Three American scientists, John Jackson,
Eric Jumper, and William Mottern along with over thirty others, formed the Shroud of Turin Research
Project (STURP). Its goal: figure out how the was image formed. In 1978, despite the resistance of many in
the Vatican, the Turin church agreed to let STURP physically examine the shroud. The church gave them
only 120 hours to let them do their thing, and STURP immediately got to it. They worked literally around
the clock to find out how the haunting image got on the linen cloth.
"There were spectral analysis done," Barrie Schwortz, the photojournalist who recorded the event recalls.

Research on the Microbiological Hazard of Linens
Executive summary Linen that has been used is a source of healthcare associated infection and is
considered to be contaminated and contain microbes that continue to survive or even multiply if not
laundered according to required standard . The transfer of micro organisms can take place through contact
from linen to patients, clients, staff so all stages of linen management must be considered. It includes
storage, handling, bagging, transportation and laundering .To reduce the microbiological hazard for those
who handle soiled and infected linen control measures are necessary. The aim of this study is to ascertain
whether linens are correctly categorized, segregated and laundered to prevent the risk of infection to
patients and healthcare staff . Introduction The term 'hospital linen' includes all linen used in the hospital. It
includes mattress, pillow covers, blankets, bed sheets, towels, curtains, doctors coats. All linen used by
patient that have been soiled with blood, body fluids, secretions, and excretions should be handled using
appropriate precautions. The risk of cross infection can be eliminated if appropriate precautions are
followed by care givers for the handling, collecting, transporting .The hospital receives all these materials
from different areas like Operation Theatre, wards, Icu etc. The OT linen need special care as it has to be
washed & sterilized carefully. Microbialcounts is reduced in soiled linen during the laundering process.

Medieval Women's Clothing In Medieval Society
Medieval women's clothing was an important part of their social standings and showed the wearers rank
and position in society; it was also not just affected by wealth as social statuses changed what you were and
were not allowed to wear. The feudal system defined what they wore with the king and queens leading the
fashion. There were also laws as to how a person could be dressed and the cost of the item/s for example:
Only royalty could wear ermine trimming, only nobles, upper class and higher classes were allowed to wear
velvet, silk, fur, lace, cotton, taffeta and coloured or dyed materials, lesser nobles were allowed to wear fox
an otter trimming, lower classes could only wear wool, linen and sheepskin and the lowest classed, labours

and were also not allowed to wear furs that where not lamb, rabbit, cat or fox. Many of these rules where

Through the medieval time period the fashion was constantly changing and people at the time were
expected to keep up with it, however the general fashion was, for poor peasant women, a dress made of
linen or rough wool reaching below the wearer's knees and was fastened with a belt, often made of linen
along with a pair of boots and, for a noble woman, many layers of clothing starting with the underclothes,
consisting of breeches, chemise and hose, followed by an underskirt, made of pale linen or silk, a long
gown with wide sleeves, made out of expensive and embroidered martials. Over the gown a long tunic was
worn which was then covered with a floor length mantle, trimmed with fur. A noble woman would also
wear soft cloth shoes that could be covered with outdoor leather or wooden ones. Headdresses were also
worn and changed with the fashion becoming larger, taller and more prominent as time

Upholstery is also knows as cotton blends.
Advantages: Upholstery has many advantages, it is very easy to clean, it is very reasonable abd it is very
eas to locate, it can also be ordered from any fabric decorator. It is also hypoallergenic (unlikely to cause
any kind of an allergic reaction)
Unlike other fabrics there are many choices of upholstery fabrics to choose from such as cotton, linen and a
wide range of synthetic fibres and microfibers.
Disadvantages: Upholstery tends to fade when it comes into direct contact with sunlight. Some microfibers
are flammable and releases a poisonous gas while burning.
Uses: Upholstery is widely used in interior spaces. It is used for pillow covers, cushion covers, sofas,
curtains, chairs, beds, etc. As there are so many varieties of upholstery it is one of the most used fabrics in
an interior space.
Price: Upholstery used for sofas ranges from ₹450–1500 per meter with a width of 54 inches. However, the
price of upholstery widely ranges due to the different finishes of and qualities of Upholstery. Upholstery

The Between Baboons And The Sun
There are many points of view concerning the classifications of hypocephali. According to Uranic,
hypocephali are classified into two types such as Theban type in which the hypocephalus contains three
horizontal registers with very few inscriptions beside the scenes and DbA ty type referring to the title of god
Osiriswith which the text begins. On the other hand, Gee classified them into six styles. In fact, there are
many other types of hypocephali which are the same except for very few differences.
This research contains forty one hypocephali exhibited in different museums all over the world. The aim of
the study is to focus on the baboons ' scenes specially their forms, positions, locations, their total number
and their number flanking the seated four – headed god.
In the Old Kingdom the sacredbaboon or ape was associated with the patron of writing and wisdom god
DHwty. Moreover, it was a manifestation of the moon god DHwty and it was a very strong relation between
the baboons and the sun in Ancient Egypt because of their curious habit of warming themselves by the sun
rays at the beginning of the day with raised paws after a very cold night to the extent that it was believed
that these animals adored the solar sphere.
The association between the sun god Ra and the baboons can be presented in various ways such as the
representation of baboons raising their paws at the obelisks ' pedestals in the worshiping attitude as well as
on the facades of some of the temples that

Ancient Egyptian Women Research Paper
Have you ever heard the saying "don't judge a book by its cover"? In this case it's all we can do. We don't
have a for sure answer of what ancient Egyptian Women wore. All we can do is judge the hieroglyphics and
paintings written on tombs and caves to give us a glimpse into what women wore during this time period.
Based on the images and some material findings we can assume women of Egypt wore clothing that was
practical for the type of daily life. It's also fascinating how much is revealed about someone's environment,
social status, and artifacts by simply studying their clothing.
Because Egyptian women lived in an environment that was very hot and dry, they had to wear clothing that
kept them cool. The material they used to keep themselves

Importance Of Cultural Differences At Canadian Linen
In the summer of 2017, I worked at a place called, Canadian Linen & Uniform Service. This job gave me
the biggest experience I've ever had with people of other races/ethnicities, religion, and socioeconomic
class. During my short employment at Canadian Linen I got to work alongside some amazing women from
all around the globe. Many of the women were from India, Kenya, Mexico and Iran. I learned so many
things about different cultures. One lady named Simran explained to me the difference in marriage between
Indian culture and Canadian culture. She described that her and her husband were together through an
arranged marriages. This meant that her parents chose the man she would marry. I asked her if she was
happy with the man her parents chose and she said yes. However, she told me that she will not chose who
her children marry. Instead she will allow her children to chose and then herself and her husband will make
the final decision if her child can marry that person. This cultural difference allowed me to understand how
much the Indian cultural places importance on family. They respect their families decision so much that
they will live the rest of their life with someone based on what their parents want rather then what they
themselves want. Another difference I experience at Canadian Linen, was how there's, not only a big
language barrier when communicating with people from different countries, but there's also a difference in
the way they communicate. When I was

Men's Clothing In Ancient Greek Myth
Men's clothing in Ancient Egypt was very simple: it was white and always linen. In this time period and
region, men wore kilts, but also had additional items of clothing. Priests had a very strict dress code, and the
Pharaoh had a very special ensemble. The Egyptians also took care of their hair,, and had a strenuous
process of doing laundry.
Surprisingly, the Egyptians wore kilts. Depending on the class and time period, the design of the kilt
fluctuated. Typically, the wealthy had a shorter kilt with pleats. Status rank was often displayed in clothing,
specifically the kilt. The upper class normally had better linen and a more ornate design. The wealthy
people had pleated kilts. During the Old Kingdom, the kilts were short, but by the time of the New
Kingdom, the kilts reached mid–calf (Garments). Also at the time of the Middle Kingdom, things became
slightly more ornate. Around this time the "double kilt" was introduced. The fashion consisted of a
triangular loin cloth worn under a kilt. Just as the kilt became more intricate, so did the belts. Different
pendants started appearing on the belts of men (Hill).
Although Egyptian men wore kilts, there were additional items that they would also wear. One of the
common garments was a large rectangular piece of linen. The cloth was wrapped around the wearer ...

As a substitute they used lye, which is composed of castor oil and saltpetre. The process of doing laundry
consisted of beating the clothes, rinsing them and wringing them out. The upper class had access to the
resources to wash their clothes, however the less fortunate did not. The lower class would normally wash
their clothes on the banks of rivers and canals. As with everything, there were the pros and cons of this
situation. The upside was that they did not have to struggle to carry the water somewhere, but the downside
was the potential encounter with a crocodile

Marx's Commodity Analysis
In chapter one, Marx says that a commodity is a use value and exchange value. The commodity as a use
value is something that humans want or need, the use value of the commodity is determined by how useful
the commodity is, but Marx says it is immeasurable and explains that it can only be determined when
consumed. After he explains, use–value Marx explains commodities as an exchange value. He explains that
commodities' value as the quantity of other commodities that it will exchange for. Later in this chapter,
Marx says that the exchange value of a commodity is merely a measurement of its value, he says that value
connects all commodities so that they can be exchanged with each other. In the text, he says this value is
determined by "the labor time socially necessary that is required ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

For example, the 20 linen is the relative form, and the coat is the equivalent form. In this section He also
says that comparing 20 yards of linen to 20 yards of linen is meaningless; linen cannot be compared to itself
because there is no expression of value. In chapter 2 Marx speaks of exchange and the social and private
characteristics of the process of exchange. He says that owners must acknowledge each other's ownership of
commodities to realize its exchange value because the exchange is not only the exchange of items it's also a
contract between the owners. Marx then explains that the use of value cannot be realized by the person
who's selling the item, only the one who purchases the commodity can realize the value because the one
selling the commodity finds no utility in the commodity other than its exchange value. In chapter 3 Marx
speaks about money and the circulation of commodities; he examines the main functions of

Babysitting. A quick way for any young teen under the age to actually get a real job. It seems easy, watch
some kids for a few hours and you have yourself $20, but after my experience, you'll see it's not that easy. I
was 14 and babysitting at a house bigger than the White House. Inside there were multiple high–class fish
tanks, furniture that cost more than a car, and everything from the floors to the ceilings was brand new. It
was just me, a _____ dog, and three little boys, two of them were ten and one was six. I was babysitting
overnight. I love being an over–the–top babysitter so I usually bring fun crafts and games to entrain the
kids. This night was no exception and I had brought a make your own lava lamp kit for them to create. It
was simple, mix oil, water, and food coloring into a cup and Tadaa! An amazing lava lamp appeared.
Unfortunately, the younger boy named Austin got blue food coloring all in his small hands. I told him to
scrub it off I the sink and then to dry his hands. Then went back to mixing their creations when the first ten–
year–old boy, Justin, shrieked " Julia! Julia! Look!!!" Whipping my head around, I saw something no one
would ever want to see. Something an enemy wouldn't wish on a person. Something that would send a

organize a vertical analysis for a Profit and Loss Statement. A vertical analysis is a financial method for a
system in which is divided into three categories(assets, liabilities and owner's equity) in order to estimate
the financial status of the business(Investopedia, 2015). While conducting a vertical analysis of the Profit
and Loss Statement, the Sanctuary Hotel's General Manager identified several valuable under performances.
The three areas which were affected the most are linens, repairs and maintenance, and uniforms. In this
document several suggestions will be addressed for each of the under performance acknowledge in the
Sanctuary Profit and Loss Statement.
The linen are the cloths used to organize and decorate a bedroom. Linen expenses might include material
stuff such as facecloths, pillows, blankets, sheets or towels. According to the Sanctuary Hotel benchmark,
the expected expense for the linen was $6754. Nonetheless, the actual expense increased by a variance
percentage of 128.35%. In other words, the variance incremented by the significant amount of $8,669. From

When A Patient Is Admitted To The Hospital, The Nurse Needs
When a patient is admitted to the hospital, the nurse needs to be aware of the frequent hospital acquired
problems such as the development of pressure injuries and moisture acquired dermatitis which could cause
poorer patient outcomes and an increase to expenses for the hospital. There are a wide variety of assessment
tools nurses can use to group patients based on their risks for skin breakdown or the development of
pressure injuries such as the Braden Scale, which includes but is not limited to how frequent the patient is
wet which would potentiate skin breakdown. What that scale does not take into account is the number of
layers of linens on the average hospital bed. Many nurses may never have considered that folding a regular
top sheet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By decreasing layers of linen, the nurse is allowing the patient to become immersed in the bed which allows
for better pressure redistribution and envelopment as the bed moves air around to help rotate the site
enduring the most pressure at a given time. (Williamson 2009). The first part of the study conducted by Hill
Rom, measured sacral pressures in mmHg with varying different linen configurations on a low air loss
surface with the data averaged to include head of the bed elevations for zero, thirty, and forty five degrees.
With just a fitted sheet, the average pressure measured was 35 mmHg. With the addition of just one quilted
chux pad, the pressure measured increased to 41.7 mmHg. As more layers were added, the bed was up to
six layers which produced a shocking increase in sacral pressure up to 52.2 mmHg. (Williamson 2009).
This drastic increase in just sacral pressure alone puts patients at a significantly higher risk for developing a

Washing-Day Barbauld Analysis
Don't let the title "Washing–Day" fool you into believing that a 1797 poem by Barbauld is playfully poking
fun at the mundane chore of washing linens. Admittedly, falling into this trap is a snap when the speaker
talks about a day of hovering bubbles, forbidden butter and desire feeding pudding. Nonetheless, the poems
sense of satire cannot overshadow the speaker's testimony about the hopeless dynamics of the world she
lives in: "Come, Muse; and sing the dreaded Washing–Day" (Line 8).
Specifically targeting a female audience or "Muse," the speaker's anxiety about washing linens appears to
originate from a patriarchal workplace. Here, the privilege of the phallic is most evident at mealtime. The
male head of household's family and friends

A Short Story : A Story?
I looked up at the house. It was glorious. I had finally escaped the excruciating labor of my mother. The
torturous, agonizing pain day in and day out. The mental and physical pain. It was over. The suffering was
over. Finally, it was over. When she died, I had no one else so I inherited everything. My mother was a
notorious alcoholic and could never keep a job, so the little I did inherit wasn't much. The house was the
best of it. I walked in and was greeted by a little old woman in a soiled, grimy, illfitting "dress". It was
hardly that though. It was more of a bed sheet with sleeves and buttons. She extended her bony hand out for
me to shake. "Ms. Wells, I've been expecting you." she said in a raspy voice. I extended my hand in return
but said nothing. Her eyes were the most striking thing I had ever seen. They were the most catlike,
sapphirey, icy eyes I have ever laid my eyes upon. I noticed she wasn't looking directly at me though, over
me rather than at me. "I'm Mrs. Clemence. Agnes Elizibeth Clemence. I'll be working for you. Fresh linens,
something to eat, or a mess wiped up, I'll be there in a hurry. Your happines here is my main priority." Her
eyes wandered as she spoke. As if they weren't focused on not one thing but many. I noticed a cloudy
covering over her eyeballs. As if she were blind. I looked around my new house. It was just so beautiful. I
noticed a smell in the house. In some rooms it was an overwhelming stench of bleach and

Introduction
Just like other ancient civilisations, Ancient Egypt posed a pyramid of hierarchy. The hierarchical pyramid
(or the Social Pyramid) divided the people among 6 social classes. Where they sat within the pyramid was
dependent on their occupation, and this social structure ruled their entire lives. At the top of the pyramid of
hierarchy was the Pharaoh and at the bottom were the slaves and farmers. The diagram above (figure 1.1)
shows the basic structure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These people lived with few comforts and in the simplest mud brick houses. They had a simple diet
consisting of bread and meat and at times were forced to eat papyrus because of famine.
The farmers were responsible for providing food and tending the crops of Ancient Egypt. The people knew
that without the farmers they couldn't survive. The life of a farmer revolved around the Nile River and its
flooding seasons. When the river was full and no land could be farmed the farmers built construction
projects for the Pharaoh's and other important people. While the river wasn't full farmers farmed and raised
livestock.
A slave in Ancient Egyptian times was sold to important and rich people in return for food and housing. A
slave was generally treated poorly and not given much food or water.

How To Mummification Process Essay
How To Mummify a Body To start the mummification process the body of the deceased would first be
taken to the place of purification to be cleansed. The body is initially washed with palm wine, and then
rinsed with water of the Nile river. One of the embalmers would then make an incision into the deceased's
left side and remove most of the internal organs to prevent them from decomposing. These organs are then
packed in natron salt in order to dry them out and keep them preserved. At the time the brain wasn't known
to be of any importance or have any function, so a long metal hook was stuck through the deceased's nose,
the brain was crushed and mashed, pulled it out back through the nose and disposed of. On the contrary, the
heart was left in the body because it was believed to be "the center of intelligence and feeling"
("Mummification") and was needed in the afterlife. Before the organs were wrapped and returned to the
body, they were each stored in special canopic jars with different gods for the corresponding organs. The
liver was protected by Imsety, the human looking god; the baboon–headed god Hapy protects the lungs; the
jackal–headed god Duamutef looks after ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The dried out organs are then taken and wrapped in linen, then returned to the body. Meanwhile, the body is
filled with sawdust, and oiled one last time before being completely wrapped in linen. When the wrapping
of the body begins, the embalmers start by wrapping the head, neck fingers, and toes, all individually. Then
the arms and legs are wrapped and between those layers of linen, protective amulets are placed to protect
the deceased's soul in the afterlife, including such amulets as the "Isis Knot", and the "plummet". While all
this is happening, a priest would say prayers to ward off evil spirits in the

The Environmental And Environmental Impacts Of The Fast...
The fashion industry has changed a lot since ancient times and the 1800s. The way fabric was traded and
made is different now. The fabrics in past decades were more natural and handmade. More recently fabrics
have changed to a manmade or synthetic fabric. These fabrics pollute the environment and make it harder
for people to live.
Many people buy cheap clothes from chain clothing stores, like forever 21, H&M, and Zara. Although these
clothes are cheap, these clothes have a big backstory before they get to the stores. They have lots of reasons
why these clothes are so cheap. There is a term for clothes that are made from overseas, by workers who are
paid less. It called Fast Fashion, fast fashion are clothes are cheaper and are usually low quality (Ojiala).
Fast fashion has been developing over the past two decades(Pagotto). Many of the brands that support the
fast fashion trend release 18 collections a year ("Cris in Our Closets"). The Fast fashion industry provides
marketplaces with inexpensive clothes for most young women (Luz).
Fast fashion has a big impact on the environment and on the employees of the fashion industry. The
environment is deteriorating because of the fabric and clothes in the industry. The fast fashion industry
creates 10% of the world's pollution (Bedat). With each part of making the clothes, from the fabric, to the
shipping creates an environmental and occupational hazard (Luz). Not only is the environment impacted,
but so are the employees. Many of

Shatnez In The Hebrew Bible
Shatnez
Some of the Hebrew laws that God bestowed on the people have the misconception of being irrational,
unnecessary, and over excessive. One specific law that has this connotation is "you shall not wear Shatnez,
wool and linen together" (Deuteronomy 22: 9–11). Why wool and linen together? Why only these to
fabrics? These questions are left unanswered in the Hebrew Bible because God or the writers offered no
explanation, thus, leaving the reader to ponder these thoughts. If we delve deep into these questions, there
are underlying explanations for this mysterious law throughout the Hebrew Bible, especially in Genesis, as
most of these laws were based off human social error that occurred in this time period of the Bible.
Although God's law of Shatnez seems like a strange request to order on the people, it could have two
possible interpretations. Its purpose could be one of protectionary intent in order to further the ... Show

In addition, both the priestly garments and the tabernacle weavings were a combination of wool and linen.
The priest's undergarment was linen, and the vestment was made of wool. In this religious context, this law
seemed to be used more for a sense of separation. The law assists in portraying the division between just
regular people and the people who decide to devote their lives to God and become priests. Wearing garment
that contains wool and linen together, like in the priest's girdle, might show a sense of holiness and
closeness to God. The girdle itself "is used, to protect against any evil effect" (Bacher 213). The law of
Shatnez in situations of protection can also be broken. As long as wool and linen are used "for the
protection or benefit of the body , or for its warmth" (Bacher 213) and not worn as an ordinary garment, it is
acceptable to wear in

Different Museums All Over The World
This research contains forty one hypocephali exhibited in different museums all over the world. The aim of
the study is to focus on the baboons ' scenes specially their forms, positions, locations, their total number
and their number flanking the seated four – headed god.
The association between the sun god Ra and the baboons can be presented in various ways such as the
representation of baboons raising their paws at the obelisks ' pedestals in the worshiping attitude as well as
on the facades of some of the temples that were connected with the sun like the great temple of Abu Simbel,
offering the wDjAt eye as a symbol of god Ra. In some other cases, baboons were depicted in the solar
boats sitting with god Ra.
Baboons were depicted in various forms such as standing on their four feet, sitting on their hips as well as
standing with raised paws on their hind legs. Baboons were connected with the underworld as represented
in chapter 155 of the Dead in which baboons were depicted in a sitting position around the four

The Uniform and Linen Company: SWOT Analysis and...
Uniform & Linen is not especially well differentiated from its competition. There are a few different points
on which U&L can differentiate price, types of services offered, and geographic scope. In this case, the
company has a North American scope, which is as good as its best competitor. The range of services offered
is fairly comprehensive, and again this matches other top competitors. In terms of price, there is no
indication that U&L competes on the basis of price. Therefore, the company appears to have a differentiated
strategy. It appears to be positioned as a premium provider, focused on the range of services and the ability
to work with customers who operation across North America. There are doubtless other competitors who
also offer a similar range of services and have a similar scope of service delivery, but there are few that are
superior. Some, however, are likely to have an inferior offering, and would therefore be forced to either
compete on price or as highly differentiated service providers.
A SWOT analysis is a useful tool to help managers of a company understand how its internal strengths and
weaknesses match up with the opportunities and threats in the market (MindTools.com, 2012). The
company's strengths, therefore, are in its geographic scope, its service scope and its established brand name.
We can see U&L's competitors as being a firm similar, and a firm that is a specialist in one aspect of the
company's business. Compared to the specialist, U&L is

Mummification throughout the World
Mummies of humans and animals have been found throughout the world. The most well known culture for
preserving the dead with mummification were the ancient Egyptians. Although mummification existed
before the Egyptians with mummies from northern Chile, the Egyptians were focused on the prospect of
eternal life, which meant preserving the body for life. The earliest process of mummification took place as
early as 3000 BC. Special priests worked as embalmers, caring for and wrapping the body. Beyond
knowing the correct rituals and prayers to be performed at various stages, the priests also needed a detailed
knowledge of human anatomy. The first step in the process was to remove all internal parts that might decay
quickly. The brain was removed by carefully inserting special hooked instruments up through the nostrils in
order to pull out bits of brain tissue. It was a hard job, one which a wrong move could easily disfigure the
face. The priest then removed the organs of the gut and chest through a cut usually made on the left side of
the abdomen, (except the heart) and stored in canopic jars. The skulls of the dead would then be filled with
a thick plant–paste. It wasn't until the Middle Kingdom(2050 BC and 1652 BC) that the process began to
take on a more advanced form. After removing organs and the brain ,the caretakers would use natural salts
to remove moisture from the bodies of the dead, drying out flesh and bone. The emptied bodies were then
covered in salt to

Research Paper On Mummification
Mummification Process Egyptians buried the dead in the ground and where there are little air and lots of
heat and sand which dehydrated the bodies, resulting in the mummified body. During this process of natural
decaying, the odor of this would smell and attract animals who would then eat the already decaying body.
To prevent this, they created coffins, or boxes, to put the bodies in. Not only did they create coffins, but
they also created tombs which they filled with items for the person to use when they reach the afterlife.
However, they realized that these bodies were decaying as well. To preserve the bodies for the afterlife, the
Egyptians created a process which included embalming, and wrapping the body in linens. This is known
today as mummification. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

In regards to this case study where a hotel manager orders 1,000 dollars' worth of sheets from a sales

dispute didn't happen before ten days then the linen company is bound to the contract. Statute of frauds
states that it is a binding contract if the buyer or purchaser of the goods signs the memo and gives it to the

To me, there was no alternative but to go back into business," said Kalkin.
Kalkin did just that. In 1975, from the Daylin bankruptcy court, he bought seven of the leased departments
and specialty stores he had started for that company. This seven–unit retail chain with annual sales of $2
million was the beginning of Linens 'n Things, Inc., one of the country's first specialty retail stores
dedicated to home furnishings and decorative accessories. Having experienced the unpredictable
consequences related to dependency on landlords, Kalkin turned away from the operation of leased
departments and applied a novel set of merchandising techniques to the development of Linens 'n Things as
a chain of specialty retail stores.
Eugene Kalkin had learned about the European hypermarchés, stores in which storage cubes filled with
food or general merchandise were piled up to the ceiling, thereby saving space and reducing expenses. This
merchandising concept later became popular in the United States in discount chain stores, such as those of
Sam's Club, BJ's Wholesale Club, and Home Depot. Influenced by the concept of the hypermarché no–frills
warehouse environment, Kalkin used his retailing experience to create the retail industry's off–price
prototype. He opted for stores with high ceilings in order to save space by installing ten–foot high,
warehouse–type shelving for piling up storage cubes. He could then display in 7,000 square feet the

A Interview On Florida Hospital
Florida Hospital was founded in Orlando by the Seventh Day Adventist church in 1908. It is part of a 46–
hospital network, with 20 nursing homes and 25 health care agencies extending across 12 states that make
up Adventist Health System (AHS). AHS is one of the nation's largest hospital systems, and is a not–for–
profit healthcare organization.
The Florida Hospital name consists of nine campuses within Central Florida. AHS has an additional
twenty–eight total campuses throughout Florida that also bear the Florida Hospital name. The nine
campuses within central Florida total 2,247 beds and make it the largest single provider of Medicare
services in the United States.
Linen utilization is a backstage service that is critical for hospital functioning. There is an awareness
deficiency of how much linen loss has an effect on the hospital's bottom line might make a significant
contribution to the improper use of linen. Clinical and significant healthcare support service staffs are in the
front–line of linen utilization and would therefore be the appropriate representative to disclose how they see
the linen leaving the hospital, how the current process may be improved, and what additional training would
be effective. However, there has been limited attention or resources invested for its proper functioning
which heightened the team's interest to tap possible improvement opportunities.
Florida Hospital has a central laundry system for the processing of their linens.

Marriott Bedding Program Stakeholder endorsement of the Marriott Bedding Program was essential for
implementation since owners and franchisees would bear primary responsibility for the necessary financial
investment. Owners and franchisees are required to comply with Marriott standards and the introduction of
new operational measures, but if they are not supportive of a change, the implementation process can be
significantly delayed. In addition, at the time of the Bedding Program, some properties had just opened and
the new bedding standards required them to dispose of relatively new linens, which posed a financial
burden for some. With more than 143,000 employees worldwide and over 200 direct project associates,
implementation of the bedding program required significant changes in hotel management processes.
Thousands of people including housekeepers and laundry associates had to learn how to switch the new
bedding out and also maintain the new standard form for each room and each linen change. Training had to
be specific to the bedding packages designed for different brands. Additionally, property management teams
needed to be educated about the rationale for the bedding change and the linen ordering process. Other
training complications centered on a language barrier between property managers and housekeeping and

Should Starwood maintain a cooperative orientation or a competitive orientation with its suppliers for the
kind of items described here?
Since Starwood engages in sourcing they can't avoid doing business with other organizations concerning
themselves with of their merchandise by suppliers. An organization that dals with other organizations while
it is sourcing its products is deemed to have a status of business partners. So due to this reason Starwood
should maintain a cooperative orientation with suppliers so they are not seen as a business entity.
The manner of which Starwood operations are done is influenced by the suppliers they deal with regularly.
To ensure that there is a smooth running of operations Starwood needs to create a cooperative orientation
with its suppliers to avoid any issues. While in the process of conducting business with suppliers,
cooperation is highly important as it ensures that companies that are involved in this case are Starwood and
its suppliers they both need to ensure they both have a win–win situation where no party can be
undermined.
Cooperation also ensures that terms and conditions are agreed upon and are fair to participating parties. This

History Of Clothing

  • 1. History of Clothing The History of Clothes Egypt Men All men wore a wrap–round skirt that was tied at the waist with a belt. Sometimes the material was wrapped around the legs as well. The length of the skirt varied depending on the fashion of the time – in the time of the Old Kingdom they were short while in the Middle Kingdom they were calf length. During the New Kingdom period it was fashionable to wear a pleated garment. Rich Egyptian men were able to afford the best quality linen which was very fine and almost see–through. Rich Egyptian men also wore as much jewelry as they could afford and decorated their clothes. They also wore headdresses for special occasions. Women Egyptian women wore full length straight dresses with one or two shoulder ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Women Women also wore different kinds of clothes depending on who they were. All women wore at least one tunic down to their ankles. Many women, if they could afford it, wore a linen under–tunic and a woolen over–tunic, and often a wool cloak over that if they were going outside. On their legs women sometimes wore woven tights or socks, but women never wore pants. Nuns wore tunics like other women, but generally in black or white rather than colors. Noblewomen often wore fancy tall hats, sometimes with streamers coming off them. They sometimes plucked the hair from their foreheads to give themselves very high foreheads which people thought were beautiful. 17th Century At the beginning of the 17th century men wore starched collars called ruffs. Women wore frames made of wood or whalebone under their dresses. However the farthingale was soon discarded and the ruff evolved into a large lace collar (for those who could afford it!). Men In the 17th century men wore knee length, trouser like garments called breeches. They also wore stockings and boots. On the upper body men wore linen shirts. In the early 17th century they wore a kind of jacket called a doublet with a cape on top. Men wore their hair long. They also wore beards. In the late 17th century a man's doublet became a waistcoat and men wore a frock coat over it. With breeches it was rather like a three–piece suit. Men were now clean shaven and they wore wigs. • 5. Mummies In Ancient Egypt What is wrapped in lined and put in a coffin forever? Ghastly faces, dried in salt– why would Ancient Egyptians go to all that trouble for a corpse that no one will ever see again? Mummies are fascinating, and they have been around for over 5000 years. Ancient Egypt is an ancient civilization in the deserts of Africa. Ancient Mummies are fascinating due to why Egyptians mummify, how they mummify, and the burial process. Ancient Egyptians mummified their dead for special reasons. Egyptians had a wish, the wish to live forever. They believed that after they died a new life began. Egyptians believed that everyone had a ba, and a ka. A ba is a soul, and a ka is a invisible twin of the person. Egyptians believed that when a person died, his/her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Going into further detail, first small bunches of natron encased in linen were stuffed in the body. The corpse's brain was removed and most likely thrown away. The Ancient Egyptians believed that the brain was the least important organ in the body. After 40 days passed by, the natron packs were removed. The dried, withered body was then swabbed clean and caressed with oils, spices, and resin. They eye sockets were corked with linen and closed. The nostrils were packed with beeswax. Then the arms were crossed, and the fingernails and toenails were hidden in caps of gold. The embalming cut, (the cut where the inner organs were taken out) was then stitched together. The mummy was decorated with jewels, gold, and precious stones like the Eye of Horus. Then the body was deliberately bound with long, narrow bands of linen. The fingers, toes, and legs were all wrapped individually. Linen shrouds were arranged between the layers of binding. Every few layers of linen were glued together with resin. After twenty layers of binding and linen shrouds, the mummy's body returned it it's normal size. Magic amulets were then inserted in between the mummy's wrappings, along with small, mummy–shaped figures called shabtis, which held farm tools. The wrapped head was shrouded with a portrait mask, that way if anything happened to the mummy the ba and the ka could still recognize it. Then the mask, too, was bound. • 7. The Process Of Ancient Egyptian Embalming Ancient Egyptian embalming was a very sacred process performed by experienced embalmers. Ancient Egyptians used to bury the deceased underground, but because of that they decayed faster in a coffin when they aren't exposed to the hot sand of the desert. That is how they developed the process of embalming to preserve the bodies. The process begins where the body is taken into an "ibu", a tent also known as the "place of purification". That is where the embalmers wash the body in palm wine and rinse it off with water from the Nile. The next step is when one of the men makes a small cut in the left side of the body and removes the liver, lungs, stomach and also intestines. It is important to remove these internal organs because they are one of the fastest to decompose. These internal organs are then washed and packed in natron, a mineral salt that contains hydrated sodium carbonate. The natron will dry out the organs. The heart is not taken out because Egyptians believed that the heart was the center of intelligence and feeling and the body will need it in the afterlife. Then, a long hook is inserted into the nose to smash the brain and pull it out the same way. The body will now be covered and stuffed with natron to dry it out. All of the rags and fluids that were used in the process are buried with the body. After forty more days, the body is then washed again and covered in oils to keep the skin elastic. The organs that are dehydrated are wrapped in linen then returned to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Matthew Douthit Professor Sullivan ANTH 2302 28 April 2017 Final Paper – The Shroud of Turin Deep inside the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Turin, Italy rests a 14.5 x 3.7 inch long linen cloth. This shroud is stored in a custom built, temperature and humidity controlled, lighttight case made of bulletproof, laminated glass, which weighs about 2,200 pounds. On the shroud bears the faint image of a man who has been crucified. Many believe it to be the actual burial shroud Jesus of Nazareth was wrapped in when he was buried after crucifixion. This is the Turin Shroud. The image of the man on the shroud bears a striking resemblance to the historical descriptions of Jesus. Not only that, but all the wounds align precisely with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1532, the shroud was greatly burned in a fire in Savory, whereafter nuns repaired the damage. In 1578, the shroud was transferred to Turin, Italy where it has remained in the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist ever since. Further repairs were made to the shroud in 1694 and 1868. The whole rest of world did not learn about the shroud until 1898 when Italian amateur photographer Secondo Pia took the first photographs of it. The image on the shroud itself is extremely faint, but Pia's photographic negatives brought out the image in striking detail. Pia was shocked at what he had discovered. "I was looking into the face of the Lord," he later said. And just like that, the Turin Shroud spread like wildfire across the globe. In 1977, science decided to put the shroud under the microscope. Three American scientists, John Jackson, Eric Jumper, and William Mottern along with over thirty others, formed the Shroud of Turin Research Project (STURP). Its goal: figure out how the was image formed. In 1978, despite the resistance of many in the Vatican, the Turin church agreed to let STURP physically examine the shroud. The church gave them only 120 hours to let them do their thing, and STURP immediately got to it. They worked literally around the clock to find out how the haunting image got on the linen cloth. According to Uranic, hypocephali are classified into two types such as Theban type in which the hypocephalus contains three horizontal registers with very few inscriptions beside the scenes and DbA ty type referring to the title of god Osiriswith which the text begins. On the other hand, Gee classified them into six styles. In fact, there are many other types of hypocephali which are the same except for very few differences. This research contains forty one hypocephali exhibited in different museums all over the world. In the Old Kingdom the sacredbaboon or ape was associated with the patron of writing and wisdom god DHwty. Moreover, it was a manifestation of the moon god DHwty and it was a very strong relation between the baboons and the sun in Ancient Egypt because of their curious habit of warming themselves by the sun rays at the beginning of the day with raised paws after a very cold night to the extent that it was believed that these animals adored the solar sphere. This job gave me the biggest experience I've ever had with people of other races/ethnicities, religion, and socioeconomic class. During my short employment at Canadian Linen I got to work alongside some amazing women from all around the globe. Many of the women were from India, Kenya, Mexico and Iran. I learned so many things about different cultures. One lady named Simran explained to me the difference in marriage between Indian culture and Canadian culture. She described that her and her husband were together through an arranged marriages. This meant that her parents chose the man she would marry. I asked her if she was happy with the man her parents chose and she said yes. However, she told me that she will not chose who her children marry. Instead she will allow her children to chose and then herself and her husband will make the final decision if her child can marry that person. This cultural difference allowed me to understand how much the Indian cultural places importance on family. They respect their families decision so much that they will live the rest of their life with someone based on what their parents want rather then what they themselves want. Another difference I experience at Canadian Linen, was how there's, not only a big language barrier when communicating with people from different countries, but there's also a difference in the way they communicate. • 26. Men's Clothing In Ancient Greek Myth Men's clothing in Ancient Egypt was very simple: it was white and always linen. In this time period and region, men wore kilts, but also had additional items of clothing. Priests had a very strict dress code, and the Pharaoh had a very special ensemble. The Egyptians also took care of their hair,, and had a strenuous process of doing laundry. Surprisingly, the Egyptians wore kilts. Depending on the class and time period, the design of the kilt fluctuated. Typically, the wealthy had a shorter kilt with pleats. Status rank was often displayed in clothing, specifically the kilt. The upper class normally had better linen and a more ornate design. The wealthy people had pleated kilts. During the Old Kingdom, the kilts were short, but by the time of the New Kingdom, the kilts reached mid–calf (Garments). Also at the time of the Middle Kingdom, things became slightly more ornate. Around this time the "double kilt" was introduced. The fashion consisted of a triangular loin cloth worn under a kilt. Just as the kilt became more intricate, so did the belts. Different pendants started appearing on the belts of men (Hill). Although Egyptian men wore kilts, there were additional items that they would also wear. The commodity as a use value is something that humans want or need, the use value of the commodity is determined by how useful the commodity is, but Marx says it is immeasurable and explains that it can only be determined when consumed. After he explains, use–value Marx explains commodities as an exchange value. He explains that commodities' value as the quantity of other commodities that it will exchange for. Later in this chapter, Marx says that the exchange value of a commodity is merely a measurement of its value, he says that value connects all commodities so that they can be exchanged with each other. In chapter 2 Marx speaks of exchange and the social and private characteristics of the process of exchange. He says that owners must acknowledge each other's ownership of commodities to realize its exchange value because the exchange is not only the exchange of items it's also a contract between the owners. Marx then explains that the use of value cannot be realized by the person who's selling the item, only the one who purchases the commodity can realize the value because the one selling the commodity finds no utility in the commodity other than its exchange value. When A Patient Is Admitted To The Hospital, The Nurse Needs When a patient is admitted to the hospital, the nurse needs to be aware of the frequent hospital acquired problems such as the development of pressure injuries and moisture acquired dermatitis which could cause poorer patient outcomes and an increase to expenses for the hospital. There are a wide variety of assessment tools nurses can use to group patients based on their risks for skin breakdown or the development of pressure injuries such as the Braden Scale, which includes but is not limited to how frequent the patient is wet which would potentiate skin breakdown. By decreasing layers of linen, the nurse is allowing the patient to become immersed in the bed which allows for better pressure redistribution and envelopment as the bed moves air around to help rotate the site enduring the most pressure at a given time. (Williamson 2009). The first part of the study conducted by Hill Rom, measured sacral pressures in mmHg with varying different linen configurations on a low air loss surface with the data averaged to include head of the bed elevations for zero, thirty, and forty five degrees. With just a fitted sheet, the average pressure measured was 35 mmHg. With the addition of just one quilted chux pad, the pressure measured increased to 41.7 mmHg. As more layers were added, the bed was up to six layers which produced a shocking increase in sacral pressure up to 52.2 mmHg. (Williamson 2009). This drastic increase in just sacral pressure alone puts patients at a significantly higher risk for developing a pressure injury so less layers of linen on the bed has been proven to show a better outcome for the patient. The study also gathered data for the pressures exerted on the sacrum on a standard foam surface bed with similar results. The fitted sheet showed an average pressure 42.1 mmHg and as the linen layers increased up to six, pressures reached 56.3 mmHg, again putting the patient at risk for pressure injuries (Williamson 2009). Admittedly, falling into this trap is a snap when the speaker talks about a day of hovering bubbles, forbidden butter and desire feeding pudding. Nonetheless, the poems sense of satire cannot overshadow the speaker's testimony about the hopeless dynamics of the world she lives in: "Come, Muse; and sing the dreaded Washing–Day" (Line 8). • 52. How To Mummification Process Essay How To Mummify a Body To start the mummification process the body of the deceased would first be taken to the place of purification to be cleansed. The body is initially washed with palm wine, and then rinsed with water of the Nile river. One of the embalmers would then make an incision into the deceased's left side and remove most of the internal organs to prevent them from decomposing. These organs are then packed in natron salt in order to dry them out and keep them preserved. At the time the brain wasn't known to be of any importance or have any function, so a long metal hook was stuck through the deceased's nose, the brain was crushed and mashed, pulled it out back through the nose and disposed of. On the contrary, the heart was left in the body because it was believed to be "the center of intelligence and feeling" ("Mummification") and was needed in the afterlife. Before the organs were wrapped and returned to the body, they were each stored in special canopic jars with different gods for the corresponding organs. The fabrics in past decades were more natural and handmade. More recently fabrics have changed to a manmade or synthetic fabric. These fabrics pollute the environment and make it harder for people to live. Many people buy cheap clothes from chain clothing stores, like forever 21, H&M, and Zara. Although these clothes are cheap, these clothes have a big backstory before they get to the stores. They have lots of reasons why these clothes are so cheap. There is a term for clothes that are made from overseas, by workers who are paid less. It called Fast Fashion, fast fashion are clothes are cheaper and are usually low quality (Ojiala). Fast fashion has been developing over the past two decades(Pagotto). Many of the brands that support the fast fashion trend release 18 collections a year ("Cris in Our Closets"). The Fast fashion industry provides marketplaces with inexpensive clothes for most young women (Luz). Fast fashion has a big impact on the environment and on the employees of the fashion industry. The environment is deteriorating because of the fabric and clothes in the industry. The fast fashion industry creates 10% of the world's pollution (Bedat). • 56. Shatnez In The Hebrew Bible Shatnez Some of the Hebrew laws that God bestowed on the people have the misconception of being irrational, unnecessary, and over excessive. One specific law that has this connotation is "you shall not wear Shatnez, wool and linen together" (Deuteronomy 22: 9–11). Why wool and linen together? Why only these to fabrics? These questions are left unanswered in the Hebrew Bible because God or the writers offered no explanation, thus, leaving the reader to ponder these thoughts. If we delve deep into these questions, there are underlying explanations for this mysterious law throughout the Hebrew Bible, especially in Genesis, as most of these laws were based off human social error that occurred in this time period of the Bible. Although God's law of Shatnez seems like a strange request to order on the people, it could have two possible interpretations. Its purpose could be one of protectionary intent in order to further the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition, both the priestly garments and the tabernacle weavings were a combination of wool and linen. The priest's undergarment was linen, and the vestment was made of wool. In this religious context, this law seemed to be used more for a sense of separation. The law assists in portraying the division between just regular people and the people who decide to devote their lives to God and become priests. Wearing garment that contains wool and linen together, like in the priest's girdle, might show a sense of holiness and closeness to God. The girdle itself "is used, to protect against any evil effect" (Bacher 213). The law of Shatnez in situations of protection can also be broken. As long as wool and linen are used "for the protection or benefit of the body , or for its warmth" (Bacher 213) and not worn as an ordinary garment, it is acceptable to wear in ... The aim of the study is to focus on the baboons ' scenes specially their forms, positions, locations, their total number and their number flanking the seated four – headed god. The association between the sun god Ra and the baboons can be presented in various ways such as the representation of baboons raising their paws at the obelisks ' pedestals in the worshiping attitude as well as on the facades of some of the temples that were connected with the sun like the great temple of Abu Simbel, offering the wDjAt eye as a symbol of god Ra. In some other cases, baboons were depicted in the solar boats sitting with god Ra. Baboons were depicted in various forms such as standing on their four feet, sitting on their hips as well as standing with raised paws on their hind legs. • 62. The Uniform and Linen Company: SWOT Analysis and... Uniform & Linen is not especially well differentiated from its competition. There are a few different points on which U&L can differentiate price, types of services offered, and geographic scope. In this case, the company has a North American scope, which is as good as its best competitor. The range of services offered is fairly comprehensive, and again this matches other top competitors. In terms of price, there is no indication that U&L competes on the basis of price. Therefore, the company appears to have a differentiated strategy. It appears to be positioned as a premium provider, focused on the range of services and the ability to work with customers who operation across North America. There are doubtless other competitors who also offer a similar range of services and have a similar scope of service delivery, but there are few that are superior. Some, however, are likely to have an inferior offering, and would therefore be forced to either compete on price or as highly differentiated service providers. A SWOT analysis is a useful tool to help managers of a company understand how its internal strengths and weaknesses match up with the opportunities and threats in the market (MindTools.com, 2012). The company's strengths, therefore, are in its geographic scope, its service scope and its established brand name. We can see U&L's competitors as being a firm similar, and a firm that is a specialist in one aspect of the company's business. Compared to the specialist, U&L is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 64. Mummification throughout the World Mummies of humans and animals have been found throughout the world. The most well known culture for preserving the dead with mummification were the ancient Egyptians. Although mummification existed before the Egyptians with mummies from northern Chile, the Egyptians were focused on the prospect of eternal life, which meant preserving the body for life. The earliest process of mummification took place as early as 3000 BC. Special priests worked as embalmers, caring for and wrapping the body. Beyond knowing the correct rituals and prayers to be performed at various stages, the priests also needed a detailed knowledge of human anatomy. The first step in the process was to remove all internal parts that might decay quickly. The brain was removed by carefully inserting special hooked instruments up through the nostrils in order to pull out bits of brain tissue. It was a hard job, one which a wrong move could easily disfigure the face. The priest then removed the organs of the gut and chest through a cut usually made on the left side of the abdomen, (except the heart) and stored in canopic jars. The skulls of the dead would then be filled with a thick plant–paste. It wasn't until the Middle Kingdom(2050 BC and 1652 BC) that the process began to take on a more advanced form. After removing organs and the brain ,the caretakers would use natural salts to remove moisture from the bodies of the dead, drying out flesh and bone. The emptied bodies were then covered in salt to ... Research Paper On Mummification Mummification Process Egyptians buried the dead in the ground and where there are little air and lots of heat and sand which dehydrated the bodies, resulting in the mummified body. During this process of natural decaying, the odor of this would smell and attract animals who would then eat the already decaying body. To prevent this, they created coffins, or boxes, to put the bodies in. Not only did they create coffins, but they also created tombs which they filled with items for the person to use when they reach the afterlife. However, they realized that these bodies were decaying as well. To preserve the bodies for the afterlife, the Egyptians created a process which included embalming, and wrapping the body in linens. In 1975, from the Daylin bankruptcy court, he bought seven of the leased departments and specialty stores he had started for that company. This seven–unit retail chain with annual sales of $2 million was the beginning of Linens 'n Things, Inc., one of the country's first specialty retail stores dedicated to home furnishings and decorative accessories. Having experienced the unpredictable consequences related to dependency on landlords, Kalkin turned away from the operation of leased departments and applied a novel set of merchandising techniques to the development of Linens 'n Things as a chain of specialty retail stores. Eugene Kalkin had learned about the European hypermarchés, stores in which storage cubes filled with food or general merchandise were piled up to the ceiling, thereby saving space and reducing expenses. This merchandising concept later became popular in the United States in discount chain stores, such as those of Sam's Club, BJ's Wholesale Club, and Home Depot. Influenced by the concept of the hypermarché no–frills warehouse environment, Kalkin used his retailing experience to create the retail industry's off–price prototype. He opted for stores with high ceilings in order to save space by installing ten–foot high, warehouse–type shelving for piling up storage cubes. He could then display in 7,000 square feet the quantity of

There is an awareness deficiency of how much linen loss has an effect on the hospital's bottom line might make a significant contribution to the improper use of linen. Clinical and significant healthcare support service staffs are in the front–line of linen utilization and would therefore be the appropriate representative to disclose how they see the linen leaving the hospital, how the current process may be improved, and what additional training would be effective. Owners and franchisees are required to comply with Marriott standards and the introduction of new operational measures, but if they are not supportive of a change, the implementation process can be significantly delayed. In addition, at the time of the Bedding Program, some properties had just opened and the new bedding standards required them to dispose of relatively new linens, which posed a financial burden for some. With more than 143,000 employees worldwide and over 200 direct project associates, implementation of the bedding program required significant changes in hotel management processes. Thousands of people including housekeepers and laundry associates had to learn how to switch the new bedding out and also maintain the new standard form for each room and each linen change. Training had to be specific to the bedding packages designed for different brands. Additionally, property management teams needed to be educated about the rationale for the bedding change and the linen ordering process.
