2. An audience is one of the most important concepts throughout
all aspects of media and all pieces of media are created with a
specific audience in mind.
An audience are a group of people that a piece of media would
target as they would enjoy that specific media piece more than
other groups of people. An audience can be classified through
five main factors:
1. Income Bracket/Status
2. Age
3. Gender
4. Race
5. Location
WHAT IS AN AUDIENCE?
3. We feel that our audience would range from the ages of 16 – 30
with a younger sibling or child of their own. We also thought
that we should target up to the ages of 45 due to those ages
being the age that views the most thriller films.
After the media showcase I feel that another group of people
that we should target are people in a family as they grow a
strong emotional attachment to the younger brother much
quicker.
The demographics we have chosen to target are B, E and C1. We
chose these because these demographics would be the best at
relating and building an emotional connection due to them
being the most likely to have a family and also have expendable
income (B & C1). We also target students as they are more
likely to have a sibling and will be able to create an emotional
connection with the main characters (E).
AUDIENCE PROFILING
4. We came to the agreement that our film would have the film
classification of 15. We think this as it opens up the film to our
target audiences and provides a basic knowledge of how the
film will be when people see the classification, this allows each
person to make their own judgments of the film before they go
into view the it.
