The student learned about various technologies through constructing their product including:
- Blogger, which they used to record information and planning but initially found difficult to use until watching tutorials.
- A PC and Mac computer which they used for tasks but encountered WiFi and crashing issues that were solved by restarts or patience.
- Microsoft Office programs like Word, PowerPoint and Excel which they recommend as easy to use and professional.
- YouTube which they uploaded to but encountered slow uploading until converting their video file format.
- Camera equipment like the camera, SD card and tripod which helped capture footage but low battery was an issue.

used?
Problems? Solutions? Lessons
learnt?
Blogger Allows people to
regularly post or
update posts online
usually based upon
one specific topic or
subject eg. Lifestyle,
fashion or travel.
I recorded all of
the information
I found out
during the
research
process of the
course.
Moreover, I
also recorded
all of the
planning that I
conducted for
the main task.
It was hard
at first to
get the hang
of how to
use the
software so
it took a
while to do
the first
updates.
I watched
some
tutorials on
how to
properly set
the
software up
and then I
found it
easy
afterwards.
Get some
information
on software
before
trying it out
so that it is
easy and
quick to pick
up.
PC It’s a personal
computer that allows
people to access
their own files and
resources easily.
I used a PC to
regularly
update my blog
and carry out
some research
and planning
tasks.
Problems
with the Wi-
Fi slowed
some tasks
down.
I restarted
the
computer
and
reconnect
the Wi-Fi to
enable
quick tasks.
Check that
the Wi-Fi is
connected
to the
computer
before
logging on
and starting
a task.
IMac At our school it is
used for editing
footage.
I used the mac
to edit the main
task using the
software Final
cut pro X
Some
problems
when the
IMac
randomly
crashed in
the middle
of editing.
I restarted
the IMac all
together
which
allowed it to
run
smoothly
again.
Don’t rush
actions on
the mac to
try and
avoid
crashing.

the research
process, to find
a soundtrack
for our final
piece of work
and also to
upload our
opening.
The
uploading
time for our
thriller
opening was
only
increasing
very slowly.
I had to
convert our
video from
an mov file
to an mp4
and as soon
as this was
complete
the opening
uploaded
quickly and
smoothly.
Next time I
upload a
video to
YouTube
from an
IMac I
would
convert it to
an mp4 file
first.
Camera A device for
recording visual
images in the form of
photographs, film, or
video.
I used a camera
to record our
thriller opening
footage.
We ran out
of battery
whilst
recording
one of the
lasts shots.
We had to
delay
recording
for several
minutes
until the
camera had
more
charge.
Next time I
would make
sure the
camera has
100% full
battery/
carry round
spare
batteries
with me.

I used Emaze to
write one of my
original
research essays
on Kill Bill.
The
software
could
sometimes
be quite
slow to use.

my time
with it and
didn’t rush
any actions.
I would
know to be
patient with
the
software if I
decided to
use it again.
Powtoons It’s a software used
for creating animated
presentations/videos.
I used
Powtoons to
write an essay
on the opening
of Casino

software
was
extremely
slow to

I probably
wouldn’t
use the
software
again unless
I had a lot of
time to
create the
project.

several
openings. I also
used it to
create a
timeline for our
own thriller
opening.

definitely
recommend
this
software as
it is simple
and creates
a
professional
looking
timeline
that is easy
to read.
iPhone It’s a smartphone
made by apple.
I used it to take
pictures for our
storyboard.

quality and I
would
possibly use
it again in
future
projects.

the research
stage.

to talk
about
specific
moments in
the Face Off
opening.
Windows
moviemaker
It’s a video editing
software by
Microsoft.
I used it to
create a sort

files onto
my blog.

application published
by Apple
I used this to
edit my thriller
opening.
It frequently
crashed and
randomly
shut down.
I had to be
really
patient with
the
software
because I
knew in the
end it would
create really
good
results.
I’ve learnt
to stay
patient with
this
software as
rushing
actions on it
can increase
the
likelihood of
it shutting
down.
Google It’s a worldwide
search engine.
I used it for
finding out vital
information in
the research,
planning and
creating of the
main task.

both
relevant and
key.

it provides a
quick and
easy email
service.

convert our
final draft of
our thriller

could upload it
onto YouTube.

this website
again as it is
a quick and
easy way to
convert files
into another
format
stress-free.
