Question 5
How did you attract/address your
audience?
Reader Profile
Age : 15 – 19
Gender : female (however not by
a major amount)
Personal income per year : £0 -
£24,999
Preferred device : mobile phone
Preferred free gift : music
vouchers
Typically wear vans/converse/doc
martens with casual clothes such
as flannels, t shirts and likely to
layer clothing.
Reader profile (age)
• To address the age of the audience I added current things to
my magazine, like current bands and modern technology, as i
need to be attracting a younger generation.
Also if someone sees their
favourite artist(s) here they
are more likely to pick up the
magazine and read it.
Using the recognisable
iTunes will attract the right
audience to read the
magazine.
Reader profile (income)
• As my audience age is quite young their personal income is
low (£0 - £24,000 per year) therefore it gave me an indication
as to what price to sell my magazine for and I chose £2.99.
This means people will be more likely to buy it as it isn't too
expensive. Also with the subscriptions the reader will be
saving money per year.
Reader profile (Device)
The most preferred device that was chosen in my survey
was a mobile phone. Therefore it would be a good idea to
not only make a physical version or my magazine but also
digital downloadable version for phones/tablets/laptops
so then it is more accessible and people in my target
audience are more likely to read it.
Reader profile (gift)
• The highest rated free gift was music vouchers. Therefore I
took action with this and added a competition for £100 worth
of iTunes vouchers as a plug. This will appeal and attract my
audience because it will be something they are interested in
and so buy and read my magazine.
This is what my plug
looks like.
Colour Scheme
• I have kept a clear colour scheme of red, yellow, black and
white. I’ve chosen these colours accordingly to what had
match on the Adobe colour wheel. This was the one I
eventually made a decision on.
As you can see the
reoccurring colours:
Content (as shown on cover)
• I tried to use conventional magazine words that are intriguing,
enticing and attract the target audience in to buy and read it.
Here are a few examples of my headlines.
This is my main story headline and I
used to question to directly address it at
the audience and make them feel
engaged.
The pull quote adds mystery meaning that the
audience will want to read the rest of the story
and magazine.
This is direct and tells you what the story’s
about but not anything else so will attract
the target audience.
