1. Evaluation Question 1 - In
what ways does my media
product challenge, use or
develop forms and
conventions of real media
products?
2. Before creating my music video
• In order for me to create my music video, I firstly much watch various
of different music videos, so I am able to identify conventions of a
music video. My song ‘Heartland’ falls into the acoustic category and
is of a slow tempo, I found songs that were similar to mine to get
ideas. A popular artist who creates music that is similar to my song
writer is Taylor Swift, so we analysed her videos closely. Camera Shots
are important when creating a certain mood for a music video.
4. Conventions
• For a slow tempo song like mine, the camera shots tend to be close
ups to show the emotion on the singer and the actor's face. This is a
convention that I used in my video as there are frequent close ups of
the actress' face, and also the singer.
5. Speed/ editing
• All music videos should have some degree of editing to keep the
audience engaged (Sinead O'Connor's 'Nothing Compares' is a rare
exception of a successful music video with little editing), but the
editing must not be too fast as to seem out of sync with the message
that the video is trying to convey.

6. My speed/editing
• The speed of editing has to be taken in good consideration when
making my music video. Seen as my song choice is a sad song, and
pretty low pitch however it has a kind of fast pace , so my editing is
not too slow I have a lot of jump cuts. This is so my audience do not
get bored of watching the same scene for a long period of time,
having medium speed editing will keep them entertained, even
though it is an emotional song they will still be wanting to watch
more to see what will happen in the video, since it is not dragging.
7. Props
• The costumes and props that Iused in my video fit in nicely with the
genre of the music I have chosen . As in most sad and slow music, I
wanted to make my video tell a story of sad heartbreak and loneliness
. By using specific props, I believe that I have successfully achieved in
conveying a tale of sadness.
One really effective prop, that I thought was very
effective was when I filmed in my room, being all
lonely and crying. This worked very well because
I was I dull home clothes, with my teddies, crying
over my partner that had pasted away.
