And Hellfire Is Their Name By Stan Lee
The second page of Stan Lee's "And Hellfire Is Their Name", is set outside Angel's secret hideout,
taking place near a remote mountainous region of New Mexico. All of the X–Men traveled there due
to something urgent that needed to be discussed with Angel (reason not specified). The first
sequence of panels started off with the introduction of the hideout, but rapidly changed pace when
Angel and Jean started kissing each other. This was quickly broken up by Angel's current girlfriend.
Embarrassed, Angel changed topics and picked up Cyclops, flying away to a more secure spot to
discuss the problem at hand. After reading these panels multiple times, it was clear that they
displayed some defining characteristics. In the first and last scenes the

History of Comic Books
The distribution, audience, narrative style, and dramatic content, of comic books were the direct
descendants of the pulp magazine. They were called pulp magazine because they were printed on
the cheapest paper for non–costly mass distribution, these publications were as old as newspaper
comic strips. Pulp magazines can be traced to their Civil War–era ancestors, called dime novels.
Unlike the funnies, pulp magazines styles were outside of the mainstream and featured adventure,
fantasy, and suspense. In 1933, Harry Wildenberg and Max Gaines took the traditional comic and
folded it in half and then created the first four–color newsprint comic. It would became the new
format which is still seen in modern comic books still today.
The biggest rise in comic books was World War II, because the comic had two underling messages
at the time that kept the industry alive: social reform and patriotism. The DC superhero comics
implicitly stressed a common interest in public welfare and strong federal government all based its
comics around the Social status of America at the time. While Marvel comics took up the cause of
WWII patriotism in the early creation of Captain America, by showing Captain America punching
Hitler. The biggest underling message of comics during the Golden Age is the defense of normal
people and good citizens. After WWII, the energy driving the Golden Age died off, but that didn't
mean that the comic book industry was done creating new heroes or done expanding it

Superhero Be Real Essay
How Can a Superhero be Real? In the book ''MORE THAN NORMAL, BUT BELIEVABLE'' Stan
Lee cites specific characteristics and skills that a Superhero should have in other to be considered
one. ''So in order to be a superhero, you need a power that is more exceptional than any power a
normal human being could possess, and you need to use that power to accomplish good deeds. ''
(115). Some of those skills cited by him appears on the character of Jetboy Wild Cards. One of the
first time we see a connection with Stan Lee description of superheroes is on the ''THIRTY
MINUTES OVER BROADWAY'' history about Jetboy. First, it mentions the colorful clothes ''A boy
dressed in red pants, white shirt and blue helmet and googles steppe out of the cockpit and onto the

He is a very genuine guy who is now trying to help his family after his dad died because of the
virus, and his mother is going insane due his father death. He uses his power mostly to bring money
and food to his family, but he also has friends. Bentley is one very close friend of him, they met on
the street and he was also affected by the virus but got cured by Doctor Tachyon. Even though
Bentley got cured, he still helps Croyd a lot when he is going through all those crazy changes on his
body.
For enclose, I believe Wild Cards can make a hero been seen as a real when based on Stan Lee
words. Jetboy was a perfect example of that, mostly on THE SLEEPR history in my option, where
he has super powers and have also friends, family and a normal life. On the first history he was a
hero for sure, but he had an ability that maybe any human being if trained would also acquire,
different on THE SLEEPER, where he was affected and was lucky enough to be alive and have

Spider Man As A Hero
According to Joel D. Chaston, an English professor at Missouri State University, Spider–Man is one
of the Marvel Comics most popular superhero, which was created by writer–editor Stan Lee.
Chaston claims that "Stan Lee is the best–known costumed superhero of the Marvel Comics
universe and the star of several comic books and television series." Andy Hunsaker, a comics editor
who has work with "Yahoo! Movies, Fancast, Xfinity Television and UGO, among others, covering
movies and television" says that Spider–Man was first appeared in the Amazing Fantasy number 15
back in 1962. The character has gained popularity among American society, and has remained
popular until today. The history of Spider–Man first started off with an idea of a writer named Stan
Lee; then there is a present day version of the hero; Peter Parker, and how he fights with his dark
side, Venom. First and Foremost, the hero Spider–Man started with a creative ideas that Stan Lee
developed in 1962. Nolan Feeney, a journalist, and a staff editor at Entertainment Weekly states that
one day, Lee's publisher told him that he must come up with a new superhero idea. That day, Lee
went home and started thinking about what would a new hero be like. He saw a fly was climbing on
the wall, so he came up with an idea that a new hero should be able to climb walls. He started to
randomly call out the new hero's name, Fly–Man, Insect –Man, and Mosquito Man;

Economist's theory
Schumpeter
From Schumpeter's theory, Goodman didn't seem to match any of the entrepreneur's traits. Early in
1939, rather than being creative destruction, he took a proven path of following popular trends in
movies and television. It was proven to be a success by hitting tremendous sale for his first
publishes. Rather than destroy establish market, Goodman's company worked their way up to the
top, together with their rival, DC comic. However, Goodman and his team have the ability to create
and exploit new ideas. For instance, they created newly naturalistic comics, in which superheroes

In addition, Goodman and his team believed they are responsible for their own destiny and having a

characterization profoundly than most superhero comics before them. Goodman made these
publications happened. His business approach comprised of having numerous comic books and
magazines published by a number of corporations. He then analyzed the market demand, paying his
artists to create relevant content in order to stay focus on market's need.

Sociologists described entrepreneurs as practitioners seeking in navigate the environment they are

from Timely Comics, Atlas to Marvel Entertainment. He never stayed still from the time he owned

Stan lee was born in NYC on December 28,1922. In stan lee's early work he created the fantastic
four, spider–man, and the x–men with the help of Jack Kirby. Jack Kirby was a person who
sketched, colored and design what the character was going to look like.
Together they made great comics.
Stan lee's work was great so his boss ( Martin Goodman also known as the creator of marvel )
promoted him to editorial director. Stan Lee later was involved in multimedia projects and was an
ambassador of the marvel industry. After this Stan Lee's creations came to life by directors wanting

"With great power comes great responsibility." It's a quote everyone has heard in their life time, and
this man is the mastermind behind the phrase. In Stan Lee's case he may have created the catchy line
as a one off for a character, but never would he of expected to have it end up in dozens of movies
and tv shows spanning decades. Stanley Martin Lieber, later legally changed to his pseudonym
name Stan Lee, is the creator of some of the worlds most recognizable and profitable characters and

Jack Kirby and Joe Simon briefly decide to leave the company. This gives Stan Lee free range to
create characters and story lines as he pleases. After a long gray period of watered down comics that
people were not enjoying reading or creating Lee makes a bold move based on the opinion of his
wife, Joan Lee, who sees how much they are struggling. He pushes his higher ups to allow him to
start producing comics outside the CCA. They hesitantly allow him to try this risky business move.
This turns out to be just the step Timely needed as it saved them from bankruptcy. Fantastic Four is
published pushing them out in front of their only leading competitor DC for the first time in history.
The success of Fantastic Four brings upon the X–Men, Hulk, Iron Man, and the rise of multi
cultural/ethnic characters to the comic world. Timely promptly rebrands to Marvel Comics, and the
Silver Age of Comics comes to a close and the Bronze Age begins. The Bronze Age (1970's/1985')
restored the comic culture to America and slowly began spreading around the globe as well. As they
evolved Stan Lee pushed boundaries right along with it. Lee is largely credited for being the person
who re–envisioned the very structure of how heroes are portrayed and wrote. He strongly believed
the character under the mask is just as or more important than the hero itself. This shift in direction
changed the entire way visual story telling was perceived at the time. Now characters weren't just
super, they were human too. Relatable people with struggles, relationships, and even everyday jobs.
He also strived to set the majority of Marvels stories in the real world and not in fictional settings.
This allowed for relatable fathomable individuals and the creation of Marvels biggest triumph
character to date;

Black Panther Introduction
Culture has many different definitions. Culture could mean someone likes literature, music, food, or
art. Culture is a human tool, but the tool can be very fragile. Culture can change and it can be lost
like it is found. Examinations of cultural objects do not tell us much about the culture of the large
society, but it does show us cultural patterns within a certain culture. These objects can show us a
certain piece of someone 's culture and what it means about that particular culture. A cultural object
is something that is made by human beings; it just does not come out of nowhere. I ... Show more

This paradigm also takes into account how an audience responds to the cultural object. "The final
part of the diamond is the social world, which is the point in the diamond sees if the object fits in the
social world in which it is found" (Griswald 1994). Black Panther was written in 1966. This is when
we were dealing with racism all over the country. Black Panther was the first black superhero ever
created. The lines that link these four points say something very specifically. It states that if you
have a cultural object it will always be linked to a creator, receiver, and a social world. You cannot
have one without the other.
Cultural Object
Black Panther has special abilities just like any superhero. "Black Panther's knowledge is one of
those powers that let the Panther draw the knowledge, strength, and experiences from every
previous Black Panther" (CBS Interactive Inc. 2015, para 50). Black Panther also has superhuman
agility, senses, strength, endurance, and durability. "All of these superhuman abilities come from a
heart shaped herb" (CBS Interactive Inc. 2015). The herb also gives the Black Panther a healing
factor that is naturally healing at its peak. Black Panther also has superhuman speed. The Panther
can run and move faster than any normal human. Black Panther has a genius level intellect.

Interactive Inc. 2015). T'Challa was taught by his father in

Wonder Woman Hero
Spider–Man and Wonder Woman are not similar to the stereotypical heroes at the time, but they still
had the attributes of a true hero. In the past, Stan Lee had thought of a superhero that would be
similar to teenagers. Stan Lee wanted to construct a hero that people could relate to, and in the end
he created Spider–Man. Spider–Man simply had the same abilities as a spider. Then in 1941,
Wonder Woman made her first appearance from the mind of William Moulton Marston. William
supported women's rights since his college days, and he wanted to have equality for each gender in
all human activities. In addition, people believed that comics were bad for kids, but William
believed not. Wonder Woman's set of skills is that she could fly, had immense speed, strength, and
smarts. Additionally, Wonder Woman also wielded a lasso that could make anyone tell the truth if
caught by it, and this lasso is inspired from William's polygraph, which was able to detect lies. Three
ways that Wonder Woman and Spiderman were different from other superheroes of the time is that

When Stan Lee proposed the idea of a hero with spider–like characteristics to Martin Goodman,
Martin turned it down because many people do not enjoy spiders. "He said that Spider–Man seemed
more like a comedy character than a powerful superhero. Since most people don't like spiders,
Goodman thought that the name "Spider–Man" was a terrible choice," (1 Patel). At the time, Wonder
Woman had powers similar to the male superheroes of the time because most female heroes were
minor characters with limited powers. "Then, as now, most comic book characters were male. The
few female characters were minor players with limited powers," (2 Wilmore). Wonder Woman and

The comic book is a way in which so many have taken to reading and observing art, and it has
changed throughout the years. In the 1930's and 40's a child of color or even a girl would be able to
find someone who looked like them in the comic books they purchased. They were to read
Superman and Batman, with whom both were well–off and white. They had to read these characters
in order to get their entertainment before televisions became popular. In the 50's the comic books
were still white dominated, however, a female hero was introduced as Wonder Woman. That was the
status quo until 1966 when Black Panther was introduced. The mainstream comic scene was
changed and he was followed by Falcon, Storm, and Luke Cage. That was a changing point and yet
many argue that there is still not enough representation of minorities in comic books. The support
for more diverse characters is noticeable in an article by Matthew J. Smith Ph.D. written for The
Washington Post. The article titled A Brief History of Racial and Gender Diversity in Comic Books
Movies is where he makes his point that the need for more diverse characters in entertainment such

A standard hero "embodies what we believe is best in ourselves. A hero is a standard to aspire to as
well as an individual to be admired" (Miczo 4). The displays of these superheroes emerged as the
characters underwent certain transformations, experiences of growth in empathy, and turned towards
the good. They uphold and maintain the public sphere as they operate in complete freedom and for
the benefit of others. In later parts of the Spider–Man series, Peter readiness to forgive and not be
bound by his past mistakes but be conditioned by it are what the Fantastic Four also did in their first
issue. They ensure a connection between their identities and facilitate the development in the
community, often adding to it and learning from it. They provide memorable messages and have a
significant influence on behavior (Miczo 91–92, 94). It is also good to note that Spider–Man's origin
differs from the Fantastic Four as it was only through the death of someone Peter cared for that
becomes the catalyst needed for his transformation to set himself on the right path of a hero. His
origin and trauma towards the guilt of the death of his uncle by the hands of a criminal he could
have stopped (seen and revealed on also page 8 and 11 of "Amazing Fantasy") at the time later
conditioned him to be a responsible person (Miczo100–101). Therefore, these character traits

Superheros Influence On American Culture
Superheros have been in the American culture since the 1900's. They were first showcased in comics
and over the years have made it to the big screen. Comic books and superheros have made a huge
impact on American life relating to real life events. Since the early 1900's comic books have
influenced the American society during harsh times leaving the people with a sense of hope, comic
book superheros also relate to epic heroes and Thor is a great example due to the strength and
courage he demonstrates. The Golden age of comic books could be one of the most important. This
was the age of the first superhero ever. In The History of funnies in America, it says. "Action comics

people, so they sent a hero named Enkidu to guide Gilgamesh and help him become a better leader."
This can also relate to Thor because he was not yet experienced enough to take after his father, so he
sent him to earth without his powers to teach him a lesson and help him grow to be a greater and
stronger leader. Thor was the son of the ruler of asgard and sometimes referred to as god. In

Time To Take Charge: My Definition Of A Leader
Time to Take Charge Keep going! I know you can do it! That is what a person that has the trait or
characteristic for leadership can do, push people to do what they want. Leadership is a thing or
activity people do to show what they like to do. An example of leadership is when a student sees a
couple people struggling in class and helps them or tells the teacher that a couple people need help.
Another example is a person does something in a story or in real life to give someone leadership.
People like firefighters or policemen also use leadership in their everyday lives. We use this term in
everyday life to describe what someone does to impress people in a crowd and we kind of use it
correctly. A definition of leadership is "Position or function of a leader, a person that guides or
directs a group"(Leadership). My definition of leadership is a person that takes charge and does
there best at what they are doing to help people. What leadership is not is something that is like
loyalty. Loyalty is something you get when people trust you and what you are doing. Leadership is
not to be confused with loyalty because Leadership takes charge and loyalty shows a person you can
trust. A second word that can be closely related with leadership is dictatorship. Dictatorship is a
person who thinks they can take ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Lee was in the lowest point of his comic book career and was about to change careers. He decided to
give it one last go by writing two different superhero stories: The Fantastic Four and The Amazing
Spider–Man. These two stories defied the superhero graphic at the time with the Fantastic Four
being a family turned superhero team and Spider–Man being the first teen superhero that was not a
sidekick. Spider–Man put a grand effect on people as it put a realistic high school student struggling
with the loss of his parental figure. The origin of Spider–Man is shown in Amazing Fantasy #15.
Peter Parker was a "hard working honor student" constantly rejected being seen as a nerd. One day,
however, Peter is bitten by a radioactive spider that somehow grants Peter the "proportionate speed,
strength and agility of a spider" (Marvel Masterworks: The Amazing Spider–Man). After finding
these powers, Peter later exploits them for himself as a wrestler winning money nightly. One night, a
thief is running from a cop with Peter in front of him. Instead of stopping the thief, Peter arrogantly
lets the thief go and tells the cop, "Sorry, pal! That's your job!... From now on I just look out for
number one –– that means –– me!" (Marvel Masterworks: The Amazing Spider–Man). Peter would
later find out that the same thief he had let escape would kill his Uncle Ben. After he hands the thief
to the police as Spider–Man, he tells himself, "If only I had stopped when I could have! But I didn't
–– and now –– Uncle Ben –– is dead" (Marvel Masterworks: The Amazing Spider–Man). In the
story, Parker is an intelligent, socially awkward, and often bullied young teenager who has parental
figures in his life. This allowed him to be more relatable and more interesting to readers who were
accustomed with characters like Superman who is an alien on Earth, Wonder Woman who is a
goddess, and Batman who is a

a lot of fans think that Tobey Maguire is the best actor to play as Spider Man but some say Andrew

Censorship Of The Innocent By Dr Frederick Wertham
In the 1950's, censorship was a major part of media coming out of World War II, and into the Cold
War era , America was scared of communism. Everything was censored from radio and television to
books and comics. Comic books had the biggest attack by Dr Frederick Wertham, a German–
American psychiatrist in his book "Seduction of The Innocent" published in 1954. He used fear to
convince the public that comics increased teen delinquency. He argued so well that congress stepped
in and had a subcommittee investigate the effects of comic books on delinquency. His actions lead
the industry to becoming nearly extinct. Being pressed in a difficult situation the comic industry
evolved, self regulated, regained popularity, and even created social movements for positive reform.
His research was fabricated to make it more appealing to the fear of American society, and gain
government trust using the terms communism and delinquency in his reports, books, lectures, and
testimonies.
Dr Wertham's word was respected in the psychological community. Unlike Senator McCarthy whose
communist crusade was taking place at the same time, Wertham had research and experience
backing his statements. His career in the U.S. started in 1922 when he was offered a position at the
psychiatric clinic at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He accepted the offer and became a US citizen five
years later. Being in the field for 10 years, he was offered another position in New York to be the

The atmosphere of World War II helped enhance Lee's writing because it led to the debut of Captain
America Issue #3 in 1941 with the help of Joe Simon and Jack Kirby. Lee used elements of the war
and incorporated it into his work. The controversy and calamity of the war made Lee's Captain
America a prominent figure during the war period because he epitomized anti–Nazism in an
unexpressed interventionist tone (Wright 474). Lee constructed a tone towards Captain America,
which pledged to wage war against the enemies who were a threat to justice not only home in

time, but Lee found reverence from young readers who idolized patriotism. At the time, Marvel

Quote: With great power comes great responsibility. That quote came from the Spider–Man comic
books but is most famous for the movie Spider–Man in 2002. But it has quite a bit of meaning. It is
telling you that if you have power over something you need responsibility to control that power.
When Stan Lee made Spider–Man he knew he would have to have a special quote that would run
through the whole series. When Stan Lee first started making the comics into what he wanted to see,
and people loved it! Stan Lee completely changed the way comics were made, I guess you could say
that Stan Lee could have changed the world too. When Stan Lee made the comics and then the
movies about his heroes, it gave people inspiration to be able to do things they were to scared or
they thought were not possible before. Just about everywhere you look you see something from
marvel something about his heroes. I believe that Stan Lee changed the way people saw the world.
And maybe how people saw each other. Stan Lee changed the world with his heroes, and he can
change you too.

Stan Lee was born on December 22, 1922, in Manhattan. His family included his parents, Jack
Lieber and Celia Lieber, and Stan Lee had a younger brother named Larry Lieber.
Stan Lee loved to read and some of his favorite authors were Stephen King , H.G Wells, Mark
Twain, Arthur Conan Doyle, William Shakespeare, Charles Dickens, Harlan Ellison and many more.
Stan Lee was the older brother of Larry Lieber. When his mom died later on during the great
depression, Stan Lee had a lot of responsibility when he was in charge of his brother. Stan Lee never
really played outside either because the weather was often bad. He mostly just stayed in his house
and read books that he really liked. Maybe the early reading influenced his career in making comic
books later in life.

For Instance, Quid pro quo harassment is when a supervisor asks for sexual favors, promising the
employee a raise, or telling them that if they don't agree to the sexual favors, they have a chance to
get terminated. Moreover, Hostile environment, doesn't promise the employee anything, but just
makes the employee uncomfortable, and make his working environment hostile. This case
mentioned above is a case of Hostile environment regarding sexual harassment making the
employee feel harassed as well this violation should be labeled as abuse of power if Mr. Stan Lee is
found guilty. I recommend that is essential to know how to proceed when this sort of sexual
harassment happens. Just telling a manger or supervisor is not enough, going to Human Resources
representative is important but it is also imperative to make the EEOC aware of the

And Hellfire Is Their Name By Stan Lee The second page of Stan Lee's "And Hellfire Is Their Name", is set outside Angel's secret hideout, taking place near a remote mountainous region of New Mexico. All of the X–Men traveled there due to something urgent that needed to be discussed with Angel (reason not specified). The first sequence of panels started off with the introduction of the hideout, but rapidly changed pace when Angel and Jean started kissing each other. This was quickly broken up by Angel's current girlfriend. Embarrassed, Angel changed topics and picked up Cyclops, flying away to a more secure spot to discuss the problem at hand. • 2. History of Comic Books The distribution, audience, narrative style, and dramatic content, of comic books were the direct descendants of the pulp magazine. They were called pulp magazine because they were printed on the cheapest paper for non–costly mass distribution, these publications were as old as newspaper comic strips. Pulp magazines can be traced to their Civil War–era ancestors, called dime novels. Unlike the funnies, pulp magazines styles were outside of the mainstream and featured adventure, fantasy, and suspense. In 1933, Harry Wildenberg and Max Gaines took the traditional comic and folded it in half and then created the first four–color newsprint comic. It would became the new format which is still seen in modern comic books still today. The biggest rise in comic books was World War II, because the comic had two underling messages at the time that kept the industry alive: social reform and patriotism. The DC superhero comics implicitly stressed a common interest in public welfare and strong federal government all based its comics around the Social status of America at the time. While Marvel comics took up the cause of WWII patriotism in the early creation of Captain America, by showing Captain America punching Hitler. The biggest underling message of comics during the Golden Age is the defense of normal people and good citizens. After WWII, the energy driving the Golden Age died off, but that didn't mean that the comic book industry was done creating new heroes or done expanding it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. Time To Take Charge: My Definition Of A Leader Time to Take Charge Keep going! I know you can do it! That is what a person that has the trait or characteristic for leadership can do, push people to do what they want. Leadership is a thing or activity people do to show what they like to do. An example of leadership is when a student sees a couple people struggling in class and helps them or tells the teacher that a couple people need help. Another example is a person does something in a story or in real life to give someone leadership. People like firefighters or policemen also use leadership in their everyday lives. We use this term in everyday life to describe what someone does to impress people in a crowd and we kind of use it correctly. A definition of leadership is "Position or function of a leader, a person that guides or directs a group"(Leadership). My definition of leadership is a person that takes charge and does there best at what they are doing to help people. What leadership is not is something that is like loyalty. Dr Wertham's word was respected in the psychological community. Unlike Senator McCarthy whose communist crusade was taking place at the same time, Wertham had research and experience backing his statements. His career in the U.S. started in 1922 when he was offered a position at the psychiatric clinic at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He accepted the offer and became a US citizen five years later.
