The 1985 Bears
The 1985 bears have always been known for their defense and people have gave the defense the
credits to why they won the championship. But their offense which had some of the best players
football has produced, from the trenches to the back field. I'm going to compare this team with other
teams such as the 72 dolphins and the 2007 patriots. The 1984 Bears had a rough season going 10–6
and not making it to the playoffs. The head coach NFL football HOF Mike Ditka was set to make a
change on the upcoming season. With a new starting QB Jim McMahon and arguable one of the best
RB in the NFL, Walter Payton, who would later go on to the HOF and die in 1999 to liver disease.
The 1985 Bears didn't have any major receivers so the offense relied on the OB and the RB. the
1985 Bears had 11 all pro players and 9 pro bowl players. And produced 4 HOF players in the same
class, the most players from one team to be inducted to the ... Show more content on

They are who the 85 bears are mostly compared to. In 1972 the Dolphins completed a 14–0 season
then going on to win the super bowl. They are the only team in NFL history to ever do this. The
only other teams that came close to this were the 85 bears and the 07 Patriots. Something all three of
these teams have in common are a great quarterback. The dolphins had Earal Morrall, the 85 Bears
had Jim McMahon, and the patriots had who is considered the best quarterback in NFL history Tom
Brady.
In my opinion the 1985 Bears are the best team in the NFL. they overcame the doubt of all people
because of a previous season and not only did they almost have an undefeated season the won the
SuperBowl, and had very successful players in further years. Even though the dolphins went
undefeated, they played in a different time a 13 year gap, the game was completely different. So in
my opinion the 1985 Chicago Bears are the best team in NFL

Descriptive Essay About My Hometown
My hometown. A small, southern speck on a map with population: not enough. If you came to my
hometown you may say: You people sound different, I'm just not use to the way you speak. Yet, if I
came to your hometown I may say: Y'all sound funny, I ain't use to all this. Yes, I grew up talking a
little bit, or should I say tad bit different than most but hey, I am the one giving the speech here. So,
you are going to have to listen to my country accent talk for a while. Even though, I do not feel less
educated in any way. So my small town in Alabama is just any small town. There is not much to it
really, not enough to talk about for a good 10 minutes but if I don't talk about it for 10 minutes I
don't pass my class so, who is ready to hear me ramble for a while? I know I am. In my small town
the most classiest restaurant is a McDonald's and the store that keeps up with the latest fashion is
Walmart. Now you may have an idea of what kind of environment I grew up in. To be honest, my
hometown has only a few stoplights, we have a lot of dirt roads, and a lot of wildlife. You can't go
anywhere without seeing a tree. Just to let you have a mindset of what the town I grew up in is like,
I have a little story to tell you. One day, I guess some people that I do not know who live in my
town decided that they were going to rob the only bank we actually have in town. So, they actually
stole money from the bank and got away on bicycles. Yep, bicycles. No, this was no high speed
chase you see in the movies but these guys got away on their bikes they had at home. So maybe you
can see just how small my small town is but I honestly love it. It has taught me to keep a simple eye,
it has taught me to appreciate the little things. I will never take for granted the stars that shine at
night and how beautiful they are. I will never take for granted the song a bird sings early in the
morning to wake you up. I will never take for granted the love that I get from a close family, from a
family that has to be close because they pretty much make up the hometown I live in. If we ever
decided to move, I think there might be no one left in the town. Still, really there are so many things
that I learned from where I grew up. When I do get

Cyber-Terrorism Essay
Cyber–Terrorism Cyber–Terrorism is a reality in the modern age of rapid technological
advancement. As fast as new technology is established, people find ways to hack and corrupt it.
Many times there is malicious intent behind such actions. These acts can include everything from
computer viruses to contraband network servers to pirated IP addresses and credit account fraud. All
of the stories we hear and those annoying emails that warn of a multitude of viruses can lull us into
complacency when none of them come to fruition. In all honesty if you have a top–level virus–
scanning program such as Norton, or McAfee your machine will be safe from most of the little
viruses that you will come across. There is a propensity to copy ... Show more content on

Such a virus could go undetected for hours, days or months as it worked its way throughout a
particular system and then strike at a pre–selected time. For the entire computer operated portions of
American society this is a threat, this extends from mass transit to police and bank records and
correctional facilities. Massive destruction both physical and theoretic could easily occur and quite
frankly September 11th could be seen as precursor to the uniform and grave situation systematic
mainframe crashes would cause. This would be a case of international espionage and would be a
drastic move from the normal programs the tech security groups deal with on a daily basis. This
type of attack could slide under existing defense and not be identified until it was too late thus
rendering the attempts to defend helpless. A comparison would be the 9/11 attacks and how they
were almost indefensible because of the suicide bomber mentality of the attackers. Similarly, the
new age Cyber–Terrorists would not want the viruses to be detected and have no desire to impress
their peers as is the case with their traditional counterparts. Since this is a new type of cyber
warfare, there is no consensus on how to deal with theses issues. In a story reported by PC Mag, the
FBI has contacted many of the individuals who they have identified as suspected hackers across
America as well as a handful of those

Parent And Adolescent Relationships: 1985-2016
The purpose of this report is to identify and analyse the parent and adolescent relationships from
1985 to 2016. These results were conducted in a survey which will be interpreted and noted to
gather information to see which generation had the same ideas, themes and issues to get an overall
concluding result to determine the consequences and aspects of relationships. 2.0 Explanation of
survey A total of 30 students from Northside Christian college were surveyed in 2016 separated into
female and male. All of the students were categorised into ages; 12–13, 14–15, 16–17 to allow an

Tennessee v. Garner 1985 Essay
Name: Tennessee v. Garner
Citation: No. 83–1035, 83–1070 (1985)
Facts: On October 3, 1974, Memphis Police Officers Hymon and Wright were dispatched to answer
a "prowler inside call." When the police arrived at the scene, a neighbor gestured to the house where
she had heard glass breaking and that someone was breaking into the house. While one of the officer
radioed that they were on the scene, the other officer went to the rear of the house hearing a door
slam and saw someone run across the backyard. The suspect, Edward Garner stopped at a 6–feet–
high fence at the edge of the yard and proceeded to climb the fence as the police officer called out
"police, halt." The police officer figured that if Garner made it over ... Show more content on

Procedure: Garner's father brought the action the police officer took in the Federal District Court for
the Western District of Tennessee, looking for violations that were made of Garner's constitutional
rights. The complaint was alleged that the shooting of Garner violated the Fourth, Fifth, Sixth,
Eighth, and Fourteenth Amendments of the United States Constitution. After a three day trial, the
District Court entered judgement for all defendants. It dismissed the claims against the defendants
as being the mayor and Officer Hymon and the Police Department as being the director for lack of
evidence. Hymon's actions were then concluded to being constitutional by being under the
Tennessee statute. The Court of Appeals affirmed with regard to Hymon, finding that he had acted
accordingly to the Tennessee statute. The Court of Appeals then reversed and remanded. It reasoned
that the killing of a fleeing suspect is "seizure" under the Fourth Amendment, and is therefore
constitutional only if actions are reasonable. In this case the actions were found not to be reasonable.
Officers cannot use deadly force unless they have probable cause that the suspect poses a serious
threat to the officer or has committed a felony.
Issue: Garner, the suspect's father brought forth that his unarmed son was wrongfully shot by a
police officer as his son was fleeing from the burglary of an unoccupied house. He proposed a

Descriptive Essay About Disneyland
" Would you like to come to a place where dream come true, a place where you can live in your very
own fairytale, a place called...Disneyland!" My Papa said with a grin that reached all the way to his
ears on both sides.
I was silent I had no words, all I could ever dream about at this age was going to Disneyland, and
then I finally had the chance of going!
Since I hadn't given an answer my Papa said, " Well if you don't want to go we could always still go
to Build a Bear Workshop, it's your choice..."
It was the easiest choice I ever had to make, and without even thinking I blurted out, "
OBVIOUSLY DISNEYLAND ARE YOU CRAZY!?!"
Driving to Disneyland felt like it took a lifetime, and after waiting ALL those hours we stopped but
get this, we weren't even at Disneyland.
While arriving, the first thing that I saw was Cinderella's castle. It was the most magical building I
could've ever dreamed I would walk through. It was breathtaking, all of it from the gleaming golden
castle tops to the royal blue roofs. So many thoughts were running through my head: "Is this true?"
"Am I really here?!" And the answer was YES, I was actually at Disneyland, where dreams came
true, where I met my favorite princesses, where I could be a princess.
But it was night time so we had to spend the night at a hotel. But this wasn't just any ordinary hotel.
THIS WAS THE DISNEY HOTEL! The beds were so comfy and soft they could've had me sleeping

The Importance Of Hometowns
Growing up in a large city can provide children with important lessons on diversity and allow them
to explore incessantly. Growing up on a coast or near a mountain range supplies opportunities such
as hiking, swimming, and other great outdoor activities you may not find elsewhere. Unlike both of
these, I was raised in a small midwestern town with seemingly very little to do; however, this small
town has helped shape who I am today. Hometowns can provide many meaningful experiences
important to one's' development and that is what Smithton, Illinois has done for me. I believe that
my hometown of Smithton, Illinois played a vital role in helping me develop my sense of creativity.
Living in a neighborhood outside of town I often ran out of things to do, but luckily my best friend
lived up the street. We were young, creative, and a little reckless which led to a lot of fun. Directly
behind my house were the woods, a ceaseless amount of trees, brush, and bugs. After walking and
exploring for a few minutes, the trees eventually diverge and there is a humongous downhill path.
My bestfriend and I saw this hill has a great opportunity; soon, we had a mission to build ramps so
we could jump over a monstrous brush pile at the bottom of the hill. We spent plenty of time
seeking action and trouble as the adrenaline–junkie kids we were. Nevertheless, living in a small
town means you have plenty of boundaries and a finite number of opportunities. For this reason we
soon grew bored of

The Indian Act Of 1876 And The Amendment Of 1985
Since the beginning of colonization, indigenous people of Canada have been repressed in many
ways by the Westerners. Aboriginal women have been having a really hard time, being not only
aboriginal, but also women in a male–dominated society where women are seen as secondary and
don't have all the rights and privileges that men have. We will focus here on the legal discrimination
against indigenous women in Canada that came with the Indian Act of 1876 and the amendment of
1985, how those two events influenced women. We will first study why indigenous women have
been more discriminated than indigenous men, then how the Indian Act reinforced this inequity.
Then we will see how the 1985 amendment came to be, a century later and what are the
consequences of legal discrimination for indigenous women in Canada. We will conclude that, in a
context of discrimination against natives with colonization, the Indian Act made legal injustices in
detriment of indigenous women, and that after years of favouritism against them they finally gained
a bit of justice through the amendment of 1985.
First of all, it's important to understand the context in which the Indian Act is taking place in terms
of equity for aboriginal women. With the colonization from the British and the French in Canada
came rapes, violence against indigenous population, especially women that were seen as weaker and
easier prey . After the colonizing period, violence against aboriginal women came not only from the

Paul Cronan was hired by New England Telephone (NET) in 1973 as a file clerk. In 1983 he was
promoted to service technician. He worked in Needham, Massachusetts for 18 months before
transferring to South Boston, Massachusetts. In 1985, Cronan suffered from medical symptoms due
to AIDS–related complex (ARC), and missed work sporadically for 6 months. In June, 1985 Cronan
requested a third leave of absence from work for a doctor's appointment. Cronan's supervisor,
Charles O'Brian, demanded to know the nature of the illness, and assured him that the information
would be kept confidential. Cronan informed O'Brian that the illness was ... Show more content on

These policies stated that AIDS was to be treated as any other illness and an employee diagnosed
with AIDS may return to work if he is not disabled. The policies were unanimously approved by
management and added to the corporate policy handbooks. No formal dissemination of these
policies to the rank and file workers was made.
In June 1986, Cronan was informed that his illness benefits had ceased and he was now only entitled
to long term disability payments, having effectively been terminated from NET. Due to financial
hardships, Cronan and NET came to a settlement agreement in October 1986. Cronan was reinstated
in his job and transferred to the Needham, Massachusetts facility. The financial details remained
sealed.
Immediately upon his return to work at Needham, Cronan was subjected to harassment and hostility
from the coworkers. The workers filed a union grievance stating that the reinstatement of Cronan
violated their safety and health agreement in their labor contract. The next day the coworkers
refused to be in contact with Cronan and 29 workers staged a walk–out.
B. Critical Legal Issues
1. Privacy – Cronan's privacy may have been violated when the news of his medical condition was
revealed to the line management and subsequently to the coworkers.
2. Discrimination – Cronan's diagnosis of AIDS could conceivably fall under the category of a
disability, therefore the treatment he received from NET and the coworkers could

Toxic Mold Research Paper
Whom to Sue When It Comes to Toxic Mold Exposure Toxic mold is one thing that you should
never take lightly. Even though there are thousands of mold breeds, and though most of them are
harmless, the few that are toxic are seriously dangerous. Not only can toxic mold hurt you, your
family and cause heavy expenses in medical bills, but the cost to remove mold from your house is
extensive as well. Since mold in a building is not your fault, you should not have to pay the removal
cost, or possibly even that of the medical expenses. So whom you have to sue to get it covered? To
find out, you need to ask yourself some questions: Where Were You When the Mold Affected You?
First of all, you have to determine where the mold occurred, so that you can deduce where the blame
lies. You have to consider your regular routine, and the conditions in said places that may have
facilitated exposure to harmful breeds of mold. Here are a few examples of places where mold may
have occurred, along with some of the probable guilty parties: ⦁ ... Show more content on

Alabama V. Jaffree ( 1985 )
Wallace, Governor of Alabama v. Jaffree (1985): Central Question: Does the Alabama statute 16–1–
20.1, allowing a period of silence for meditation or voluntary prayer violate the First Amendment
Establishment Clause that is applied to the states by the Fourteenth Amendment? Facts of the Case:
The case of Wallace v. Jaffree calls into question the constitutionality of an Alabama statute that
authorized teachers to lead a one–minute period of silence for "meditation or voluntary" prayer in all
public schools. Ishmael Jaffree, the parent of three students in the Mobile County Public School
system filed a complaint that two of his three children had been "subjected to various acts of
religious indoctrination," as a result of Alabama statute 16–1–20.1 and asked for an injunction
prohibiting Mobile County schools from "maintaining or allowing the maintenance of regular
religious prayer services." The purpose of Jaffree's complaint was to prohibit the devotional services
occurring in his children's school and the consequent mockery of his children that occurred when
they refused to recite the prayers to "Almighty God" (Stevens, 40). This type of law in Alabama
public schools was not the first of its kind. Prior to statute 6–11–20.1, Alabama passed law 16–1–20
authorizing one minute of silence in public schools for meditation. After the authorization of statute
16–1–20.1 came 16–1–20.2, which allowed teachers to lead "willing students" in a prayer (Stevens,
40). Opinion of the

Deadly force is the last one (General, 1985). Deadly force is force which in an obvious statement

force (General, 1985). A threat to cause death or serious bodily harm, by withdrawing of a weapon,
does not constitute deadly force (General, 1985). The use of force is as old as law enforcement

Affordable Care Act and the Effect on the Economy Essay
Affordable Care Act and the effect on the economy The Affordable Care Act, also called Obama
Care, was signed into law by president Barrack Obama, on March 23, 2010 (Erickson, Scott 1).
What exactly is the Affordable Care Act? It was a legislation that addressed the idea that all
Americans should have access to affordable health care. The act was passed only after intense
political battles in Congress, and as the legislation lingers through installment enhancements there is
a great deal of doubt developing.
Many were faulted into believing that the health care reform would "create 4 million jobs and nearly
480,000 jobs immediately" (Democratic Policy & Communications Center). However, multiple
economists have viewed these statistics as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, many businesses will be forced to hire part–time or seasonal employees instead of
fulltime.
According to many economists, this bill raises many questions as to why jobs will be eliminated
along with reduced wages and hours. According to the Congressional Budget office, this law will
reduce the amount of labor used in the economy by nearly half (The Budget). This is because many
businesses would prefer to hire part time employees or seasonal in order to bypass benefiting the
worker. If a company hires full time employers they will qualify for health benefits, which will
result in higher expenses for the owner, cutting wages and forgoing new hires. An example of this
expenditure lies within the fast food giant stating, "The mandate eat up roughly 55 percent of its
yearly net income after 2014"(Eaton, Sabrina). As a result of the Congressional Budget Law, White
Castle will struggle to keep their business established.
Critics analyze the Affordable Care Mandate gives businesses an incentive to cut hours and wages.
A report released questioning business owners about the mandate. David Bridal, a business owner
ordered his 2500 full–time employees to be converted to unemployed working under 25 hours a
week. He insists the mandate will tax his business more than before.

Analysis Of The Us-China Trade Essay
Analysis of the US–China Trade The U.S. trade deficit has risen more or less steadily since 1992. In
the second quarter of 2004, the trade deficit relative to GDP surpassed the 5 percent mark for the
first time. Many economists already considered trade deficits above 4 percent of GDP dangerously
high. The fear is that continued growth in this external imbalance of the U.S. economy will
ultimately spook overseas investors. http://www.americanprogress.org/issues/2004/09/b193700.html

deeper into debt with the rest of the world as Americans continue to rely on the strong flow of
foreign money, particularly from central banks in Asia, to finance the trade gap. China, Japan and
other foreign governments are some of the biggest holders of government securities, lending money
to cover the substantial federal budget deficit and helping to keep interest rates and home mortgage

Tennessee V. Garner 1985
Tennessee v. Garner 1985 was a case that was the deciding factor that made it no longer acceptable
for a police officer to use deadly force to inhibit a criminal from fleeing the scene. The only way
that an officer would be able to do this is if the criminal was showing that they were going to be a
greater threat if they were not dealt with immediately than they would be if they were just to
continue pursuit of the person. This was a change to the old common law that if a criminal was
trying to escape or flee from a scene a police officer was able to shoot and kill the suspect or they
were also able to shoot warning shots to try to get the person to stop.
When looking at the case the judges were trying to see if there was an issue since the officer had
reason to believe that the suspect was unarmed and not dangerous. One of the big factors that made
the case an issue was that while the officer shot the young man he was only acting under the rules
that he was allowed to follow. If the criminal was trying to evade arrest they could use deadly force
in order to finish the arrest. The officer had a thought that if the young man had made it over the
fence that he would have evaded the arrest totally. Another detail of the court was that they said the
boy was under seizure of the police since the police had tried to detain him of his freedom to leave
which had been decided in another court case back in 1975. The outcome of the case was 6–3 in
favor of yes, that deadly force could

"From 1781 to 1789 the Articles of Confederation provided the United States with an effective
government." This statement is quite bold considering that the Articles lasted only eight years. In
some ways this form of government was effective and in some ways it was not. It did provide the
newly formed American colonies with the means to govern themselves in the manner that they
wished to be governed and set the rules for operations of the United States government. On the other
hand, it was ineffective because there was no president or executive agencies or judiciary, nor was

He did not need to be fearful in this case though because the state and local actions stopped the
rebellion and it did not cause the chaos he thought something like this would. Parts of the Articles of
Confederation were effective and they did provide the government what was needed at the time. The
Articles of Confederation could also be determined ineffective. They did not provide a president,
any kind of executive agency, or judiciary and they did not have any kind of tax base or way to pay
off state and national debts. Document A shows how ineffective the government was because it was
unable to impose taxation due to a very small minority. Rhode Island rejected the tax so the
government decided not to put it into effect. If taxes had been put in place, some of the state and
national debts may have been able to be paid off. Without a strong leader, basic things like taxes
cannot be imposed, which is why the Articles were so ineffective. They did not provide a way for
the states to be controlled. The Articles were ineffective also because they had a very limited scope
and Congress lacked the ability to enforce any of the decisions that it made. Document C shows
Congress' inability to pay their demands. Congress would demand that the army comply with their
requests, but they lacked the ability to pay the soldiers bonuses and back pay, unless furnished with
the means by several states. There was no control of commerce and trade, which is why

Early in April 1986, Tom Winter, vice president and loan officer of the Western National Bank of

of Advanced Medical Technology Corporation. Advanced Medical Technology Corporation (AMT)

Haskins brought to the bank. Mr. Haskins was thoroughly dissatisfied with the company's current
loan arrangement with the Sunnyvale Bank, from which it had a credit line of $6 million with
accounts receivable and inventory pledged as security. He thought that Mr. Flint, the loan officer at
Sunnyvale, made no effort to understand the company, and was constantly making suggestions that
seemed inappropriate. He routinely visited AMT once every six months. While the visits were
cordial, they were of very little value to Mr. Haskins. Furthermore, Mr. Haskins felt that the bank
had been quite arbitrary in selecting the receivables that it would accept as collateral and in setting
the percentage of inventory that it would advance as a loan. The restrictive attitude on the bank's
part was limiting the company's ability to expand at exactly the time that increased volume seemed
to be the key to profitability. Mr. Haskins was perfectly willing to pledge the company's accounts
receivable, inventory or anything else that the bank thought would be desirable security as long as
the arrangement was fair to the company and specific enough so that he could count on having the
funds available when he needed them. Mr. Winter explained that the bank was always interested in
sound loan proposals from companies that showed the promise of developing into good accounts.
He promised to study the request and said that he hoped to visit the company in the near future.

Legt2751 Essay
PART A
Joan and Darby ("the taxpayers") have not filed tax returns in five years since 2005. The taxpayers
sold their home in 2005 and their concerns are whether the sale has had any tax consequences for
them.
CGT Event The first issue is whether the sale of the taxpayers Hunter's Hill home on 15th May 2005
has triggered a Capital Gains Tax ("CGT") event. The applicable statute relevant to this issue is
s104–10[1] of the ITAA97[2]. Since the taxpayers' home was disposed of with a change of
ownership it has therefore triggered an A1 CGT event. s104–10 also states that the event occurs
when the contract was entered into; in the taxpayers' case that is 15th May 2005 and not the 30th
June 2005.
CGT Asset Another issue is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore the ITAA97 has specified two main ways of adjusting the calculation. The first method is
called the discount method and it outlined in s115. It can be used only on assets where the CGT
event occurred after 21 September 1999 and by individuals. The taxpayers satisfy both of these
conditions and can therefore use this method. s115–100 states that individuals are to discount their
capital gain by 50%. The second method is called the indexation method and is set out in s110–36.
Indexation adjusts the cost base (except the third element) and can only be used if the CGT event
occurred after 21st September 1999. Furthermore, the section states that the taxpayer needs to
choose to use the indexation method; if no choice is made the discount method will be automatically
applied. Therefore, the taxpayers may be limited to using the discount method as it can be assumed
they did not specially choose the indexation method at the time of the CGT event in 2005. However,
s103–25 states that the choice needs to be made on the day the taxpayer lodges their tax return.
Since the taxpayers are yet to lodge theirs, they are still eligible to use this method. s960–275 sets
out how to calculate the index factor:
[pic]
Using this formula the taxpayers should use an index factor of 1.730715.[9]
Separating the assets As previously mentioned, the contract in which the taxpayers entered into

Demographic Profile for France, 1985 and 2012
Population Structure and Implications
Introduction
The population structure of France has remained stable over the past 27 years. Fertility has remained
around replacement level. Mortality has remained relatively constant as far as crude death rates go,
but there has been an extention in the overall lifespan of an individual during this time. Like most
countries that have completed the demographic transition France is engaged in a balancing act
between mortality and fertility, and is in danger of experiencing a population decline. If life
expectancies continue to increase or fertility rates decrease France could have some hard economic
decisions to make in the future.
Population Structure by Age While most of the population in 1985 was between the ages of 15 and
64, the population was beginning to grow older as a whole. The median age was in the 30–34 age
range and 12.81% of the population was over the age of 65. The number of dependent adults was
well below the number of dependent children, with 19.45 dependent adults for every one hundred
independent adults and 32.39 dependent children for every one hundred independent adults. This
means about 34% of the population were unable to fend for themselves and were forced to rely on
the 65% of the population who were able to work and be independent. In 1985 fertility levels were
hovering around replacement level, with the

Graduation Speech Essay
I. Achievement Goals/Hard Work
Here we are high school graduates. For many of you, tonight is a dream come true. Yet I think
graduation is the attainment of a goal. A goal requires hard work. It drives people to better
themselves on a daily basis. A dream, however, demands no work, no dedication, and no discipline.
It is simply a faint hope. It is when a person turns their dream into a reality that things really start to
happen.
Goals have to be defined. You need to find something you want and be willing to work for it. Goals
should be both short term and long term. Short–term goals can be easily attainable steps on the path
to larger goals. It can be something as simple as making it to class the next day or as difficult as not

Enjoy each new opportunity, cherish every moment, and appreciate every day you have. Often
time's life throws curveballs that you don't anticipate. It is how you handle these obstacles that
defines who you become. All of us have dealt with difficulties that change the course of our lives.
Last summer, many people, including myself, lost a best friend. Mark Hilde didn't know that it
would be his time, but he made the most out of his time here. In every situation he found a way to
smile. From this, I learned that we cannot control the end – the "ultimate" end, but we can choose
the path and the way that we get there.
III. Appreciate the People
Along this path there are a number of people that we encounter. They are there to share in both the
good times and the bad. It is amazing how we can go through our daily routine – every day of our
lives – and not notice those around us. Every single one of us have had our parents get on us about
coming home late, a teacher on our back about getting an assignment in on time, or our best friend
telling us to do the right thing. At the time we don't always realize the importance of these people.
But these are the people who really care–the ones who are there when the times are rough. On
behalf of the other graduates and myself I want to thank the teachers for pushing us, even though it
didn't always seem to be the right things in our eyes. Look around at each other, notice who's here,

Integrity of the Game: Life Lessons through Sports
When I was four I started playing softball; when I was nine I started playing tennis: and when I was
fourteen I started playing volleyball. Up until now I thought these were just ways of my parents
getting rid of me for a couple hours a day. Up until now I did not realize that I learned anything
more from playing these sports than hitting a homerun, serving a kick serve, or being able to set a
ball 20 feet away. Now, I realize that all these sports have taught me some key life lessons. These
sports have taught me that mistakes are great, to handle stress, and how to increase positive energy
even when things are not going well. They have given me a lifetime of friends, leadership skills and
more confidence in what I do. In short, playing a sport has endless benefits.
One of the more obvious benefits is better health. This would not be temporary health benefits but
life long. It is sad to hear that in the United States alone there has been a growth in childhood
obesity. 33% of children and adolescents are obese. By participating in a sport, it helps regulates the
calories that are being burned, and it helps one maintain a healthy weight. The Report from the
United Nations Inter–Agency Task Force on Sport for Development and Peace states that children
and teens, upon playing a sport, increase the development of healthy bones, efficient heart and lung
function, and improved motor skills and cognitive function. All skills that are utilized in everyday
life. With that, this leads

The Atomic Energy Of Canada Limited
Brief History (MICHAEL TABB)
Merriam–Webster has defined reliability as: "the extent to which an experiment, test, or measuring
procedure yields the same results on repeated trials".[1] As technology advances, so does the use of
computing and software in health services. With the onset of cancer, Atomic Energy of Canada
Limited (AECL) created a medical linear accelerator known as the Therac–25. The machines
responsibility is to accelerate and increase the energy of electrically charge atomic particles by the
introduction of an electric field focused by magnets. These accelerators are used to treat cancer
patients with radiation to remove malignant cancerous cells and tissue. The use of the machines
caused radiation overdoses between 1985 and 1987 causing loss of life and limb for patients in six
accidents.[2]
These six accidents began 3 June 1985 with a sixty–one year old woman receiving her twelfth
treatment at Kennestone Regional Oncology Center in Marietta, Georgia. She had her breast
removed and lost the use of a shoulder and arm after feeling a "tremendous rush of heat and red–hot
sensation", while receiving follow–up treatment for a malignant tumor removed from her breast in
that facility (Porrelo, A.). The second accident occurred at the Ontario Cancer Foundation clinic in
Canada on 26 July 1985 where a forty–year–old patient was in receipt of her twenty–fourth Therac–
25 treatment. During the treatment, the machine issued an "H–tilt" error message. This prompted the

Movie Analysis : The Geek, Society And Breaks Stereotypes
I often associate the word "intellectual" with a very positive and benevolent connotation, but Real
Genius has proven to me that being an intellectual does not automatically preclude someone from
moral scrutiny. This 1985 movie captures an alternative view of the "geek" society and breaks
stereotypes with the development of very three dimensional characters. But Real Genius is much
more than just a movie that redefines academics, it is also a film that heavily stresses the importance
of morality while promoting a revamped field of the sciences. Although at times very science–
centered, the movie sneakily weaves traces of philosophy into the plot as well. With that said, it
seems to me that Real Genius and the lecture on the Two Cultures have much more in common than
meets the eye. The underlying theme of morality drives the plot of Real Genius. Throughout the
film, there are numerous scenes that address the morality of the different characters. Not too long
into the film, we are shown that Professor Hathaway has enlisted the help of Chris Knight and Mitch
Taylor to create a 5–megawatt laser. But what we were not told at the time is that the laser is secretly
a government funded project by the Defense Department, and that there was a research grant given
to Pacific Tech to aid the project financially. As the plot progresses, we learn that Jerry Hathaway
has embezzled the grant to remodel his house, while leaving the students with a seemingly
impossible task. In order to

Demographic Profile for France, 1985 and 2012
Fertility Section
Introduction
France's low fertility is in line with its status as a developed country. Its citizens are well aware of
the value of family planning and contraceptives. France's fertility rates have remained relatively
stable between 1985 and 2012 and have also stayed close to replacement levels. The most noticeable
changes have been the extending of the peak fertility years from the 25–29 age range to the 25–35
age range. The main factors that affect fertility in France are the high availability of contraceptives
and the social norms governing family planning.
Fertility Structure In 1985 there are relatively few births to women below the age of 15, with only
66 live births recorded. The age specific fertility rate for women below the age of 15 is .03 live
births per 1000 women. For ages 15–19 the age specific fertility rate is much higher at 11.55 live
births per 1000 women. The age specific fertility rate continues to rise in the 20–24 age range, with
97.18 live births per 1000 women. As shown in Figure 1, fertility peaks in the 25–29 age range with
142.51 live births per 1000 women. In the 30–34 age range we begin to see a rapid decline in
fertility, with only 78.67 live births per 1000 women. It drops further with 29.75 live births per 1000
women aged 35–39 and 6.15 live births per 1000 women aged 40–44. For the age ranges 45–49 and
50–54 the combined age

Let America Be America Again Poem Analysis
Analysis of "Let America Be America Again" Langston Hughes wrote the poem "Let America Be
America Again", where he touches on the failure of America to live up to the American dream that it
was meant to be. There is a message full of disappointment and desperation to change the
oppression in America. These are feelings that Hughes knows all too well. He knows the stab in the
back feeling of working hard for a country that does not work hard for the worker and in this poem,
he uses figurative language techniques to express them. The main idea of this poem is that America
promised its people that they would be free, however many American residents were still enslaved.
The author expressed how he has physically lived in America, but he has not lived in an America
that holds up to the values and dreams it was founded on. He expresses this in lines 1–4 when he
says, "Let it be the dream it used to be. Let it be the pioneer on the plain, seeking a home where he
himself is free. (America never was America to me)". America was supposed to be a dream come
true where all men were free and able to have equal opportunity. Hughes uses alliteration and
repetition to emphasize this point. However, the black, the poor, and the oppressed never
experienced this promised America. Langston Hughes recognizes in the poem that it is not right for
the people who live and work in and love America to be enslaved by social injustice. During
Hughes' time during the early 20th century, the country

Essay on The Mallee Region of Victoria
The Mallee Region of Victoria
Location and Contents:
The Mallee region of Victoria is situated in North–West Victoria and covers an area of around
44,000 square kilometres. The region is known to be associated with the adjacent land of South
Australia and New South Wales and is also recognised to join with the Wimmera and Loddon
regions of Victoria. Also, because of the large area which the region covers and the diversity it
beholds, it is sometimes distinguished into two sub–regions, the north and the south. Whilst 38% of
the land is occupied by the public, only 1% of the remaining 62% is protected from grazing animals
and only 3.04% retains native vegetation. ????????
Biomes:
The Mallee is the home of a variety of biomes: desert, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hydrosol is a very wet kind of soil and is saturated for the majority of the year, often located where
former lake beds occur. Sudosol is more sodic than acidic, it is a Texture Contrast Soil and therefore
there is a strong contrast between the surface and the subsoil. This is the most common type of soil
in the Mallee region. Vertosols are soils which grow and shrink, causing cracking when the soil
dries out. They occur along the creek and river beds as well as the broad plains of the Mallee. Along
the coastlines of the Mallee are Calcarosol soils, they, unlike Sudosols and Vertosols, do not have a
strong texture contrast throughout its layers. Lastly, two sandy soils have been identified in the
Mallee region: Rudosol and Tenosol. Rudosols are very young and undeveloped soils and are
widespread in the Big Desert and Sunset Country. Tenosols are also rather undeveloped and occur in
the same areas as Rudosols. Tenosols generally have a 'low water holding capacity and fertility'.
Having a vast selection of soils can only mean that a vast selection of produce comes from the area.
Product information:
A large array of products are grown in the north–west of Victoria. Some common fruits and
vegetables which come from the Mallee are grapes (74% of Victoria's table grapes and 98% of its
dried grapes), almonds and carrots, to name a few. Insterestingly, 20% of the almonds grown in the
Mallee are transported to Asia and Europe. HOW IS THE PRODUCE GROWN IN THE

Adam Baxter Company/Local 190 Debrief and Endnotes
Harvard Business School 9–396–326 Rev. February 18, 1998 Adam Baxter Company/Local 190
Debrief and Endnotes These negotiation exercises are based on management–labor relations at
Hormel Foods Corporation's main plant in Austin, Minnesota. The local union was Local P–9 of the
United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Union. The simulations are intended to portray
events that occurred at Hormel, rather than to reflect precise details in Hormel's history. The
company and union were intentionally disguised, with the aim of preventing possible bias in role–
playing the exercises. The 1978 negotiation role–play presents a fairly accurate portrayal of
management/labor relations at Hormel in 1978. The building of the new plant and the ... Show more

The harmonious relationship between management and the workers at Hormel was exemplified in
the "Working Agreement," an ongoing contract securing jobs, profit sharing, wage increases, and
worker autonomy. The company was nationally reputed to be a great place to work. The only
previous strike had ended peacefully in 1933. Changes at Hormel In the 1970s, inflation
skyrocketed and wage increases became harder to justify. To keep up with the competition from
non–labor meatpackers, Hormel had decided to build a new facility and was considering building
outside of Austin. As a concession for building the new plant in Austin, after the 1978 negotiations
labor allowed the plant to operate at higher levels of production and allowed management to
determine work methods. Then, in 1979, Local P–9 and other AFL/CIO member unions were
engulfed by the UFCW Union of more than a million members. Thus, Local P–9 and its 1,700
members lost voice and influence in their parent union. By 1984, Hormel's competitors had cut base
rate wages to close to $8.00/hour, while Hormel continued paying base rate wages of $10.69/hour.
Management argued that the "escalator clause," which had been implemented in the 1978 contract to
keep Hormel's wages in line with inflation, meant that wages also could be lowered. They asserted
that the "escalator" clause allowed Hormel to set these

1985 Dbq
DBQ 1985 The colonists were living in a brand new country that had no track record. Considering
that the articles of confederation had no precedent to follow, and no other government to imitate; the
articles were fairly good. However, the Articles of Confederation could have been more effective
than they were. Effective does not necessarily mean that the government was strong. It does mean
that the government was able to provide the people with the kind of government they wanted and
needed. Also, ineffective does not necessarily mean weak. The Articles were deliberately written for
a weak central government, the colonists set it up they way they wanted to. Despite the fact that they
one the revolutionary war, and they now ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They were not immediately ratified because there were land disputes and there had to be a
unanimous decision. Everybody hat wanted and claimed more land than they had. New Jersey,
Maryland and Delaware all had no claims. These states were the ones who initially refused to ratify
the Articles; they were not prepared to ratify a constitution which gave them no say in any matters.
The larger states on the other hand felt that they were underrepresented. They were hoping for more
equality in size (document E). Eventually, Maryland changed their minds about ratifying the
constitution because they ceded the land. Since the government could not tax, they were in major
financial trouble. They began to print continentals which were not backed by any commodities so
they were worthless. The rest of the world meanwhile was waiting to see how Britain would react;
so they were afraid to get too friendly with the colonists. The colonists though, knew that it was
time to build up trade and trust with other countries. Eventually, their financial plans fell through, so
France and the Netherlands made loans and were able to help keep the United States afloat. The
Articles of Confederation confirmed the weak decentralized system which was already in operation.
The Articles did not make it clear that the Congress was to be a real government. It was therefore,
an uncertain central government. Many people felt that the colonists should just try to set up a new
confederation

The 1985 Bears

  • 1. The 1985 Bears The 1985 bears have always been known for their defense and people have gave the defense the credits to why they won the championship. But their offense which had some of the best players football has produced, from the trenches to the back field. I'm going to compare this team with other teams such as the 72 dolphins and the 2007 patriots. The 1984 Bears had a rough season going 10–6 and not making it to the playoffs. The head coach NFL football HOF Mike Ditka was set to make a change on the upcoming season. With a new starting QB Jim McMahon and arguable one of the best RB in the NFL, Walter Payton, who would later go on to the HOF and die in 1999 to liver disease. The 1985 Bears didn't have any major receivers so the offense relied on the OB and the RB. the 1985 Bears had 11 all pro players and 9 pro bowl players. And produced 4 HOF players in the same class, the most players from one team to be inducted to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They are who the 85 bears are mostly compared to. In 1972 the Dolphins completed a 14–0 season then going on to win the super bowl. They are the only team in NFL history to ever do this. The only other teams that came close to this were the 85 bears and the 07 Patriots. Something all three of these teams have in common are a great quarterback. The dolphins had Earal Morrall, the 85 Bears had Jim McMahon, and the patriots had who is considered the best quarterback in NFL history Tom Brady. In my opinion the 1985 Bears are the best team in the NFL. they overcame the doubt of all people because of a previous season and not only did they almost have an undefeated season the won the SuperBowl, and had very successful players in further years. Even though the dolphins went undefeated, they played in a different time a 13 year gap, the game was completely different. So in my opinion the 1985 Chicago Bears are the best team in NFL ... • 2. Descriptive Essay About My Hometown My hometown. A small, southern speck on a map with population: not enough. If you came to my hometown you may say: You people sound different, I'm just not use to the way you speak. Yet, if I came to your hometown I may say: Y'all sound funny, I ain't use to all this. Yes, I grew up talking a little bit, or should I say tad bit different than most but hey, I am the one giving the speech here. So, you are going to have to listen to my country accent talk for a while. Even though, I do not feel less educated in any way. So my small town in Alabama is just any small town. There is not much to it really, not enough to talk about for a good 10 minutes but if I don't talk about it for 10 minutes I don't pass my class so, who is ready to hear me ramble for a while? I know I am. In my small town the most classiest restaurant is a McDonald's and the store that keeps up with the latest fashion is Walmart. Now you may have an idea of what kind of environment I grew up in. To be honest, my hometown has only a few stoplights, we have a lot of dirt roads, and a lot of wildlife. You can't go anywhere without seeing a tree. Just to let you have a mindset of what the town I grew up in is like, I have a little story to tell you. One day, I guess some people that I do not know who live in my town decided that they were going to rob the only bank we actually have in town. So, they actually stole money from the bank and got away on bicycles. Yep, bicycles. No, this was no high speed chase you see in the movies but these guys got away on their bikes they had at home. So maybe you can see just how small my small town is but I honestly love it. It has taught me to keep a simple eye, it has taught me to appreciate the little things. I will never take for granted the stars that shine at night and how beautiful they are. I will never take for granted the song a bird sings early in the morning to wake you up. I will never take for granted the love that I get from a close family, from a family that has to be close because they pretty much make up the hometown I live in. If we ever decided to move, I think there might be no one left in the town. Still, really there are so many things that I learned from where I grew up. When I do get ... • 4. Cyber-Terrorism Essay Cyber–Terrorism Cyber–Terrorism is a reality in the modern age of rapid technological advancement. As fast as new technology is established, people find ways to hack and corrupt it. Many times there is malicious intent behind such actions. These acts can include everything from computer viruses to contraband network servers to pirated IP addresses and credit account fraud. All of the stories we hear and those annoying emails that warn of a multitude of viruses can lull us into complacency when none of them come to fruition. In all honesty if you have a top–level virus– scanning program such as Norton, or McAfee your machine will be safe from most of the little viruses that you will come across. There is a propensity to copy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Such a virus could go undetected for hours, days or months as it worked its way throughout a particular system and then strike at a pre–selected time. For the entire computer operated portions of American society this is a threat, this extends from mass transit to police and bank records and correctional facilities. Massive destruction both physical and theoretic could easily occur and quite frankly September 11th could be seen as precursor to the uniform and grave situation systematic mainframe crashes would cause. This would be a case of international espionage and would be a drastic move from the normal programs the tech security groups deal with on a daily basis. This type of attack could slide under existing defense and not be identified until it was too late thus rendering the attempts to defend helpless. A comparison would be the 9/11 attacks and how they were almost indefensible because of the suicide bomber mentality of the attackers. Similarly, the new age Cyber–Terrorists would not want the viruses to be detected and have no desire to impress their peers as is the case with their traditional counterparts. Since this is a new type of cyber warfare, there is no consensus on how to deal with theses issues. In a story reported by PC Mag, the FBI has contacted many of the individuals who they have identified as suspected hackers across America as well as a handful of those ... • 6. Tennessee v. Garner 1985 Essay Name: Tennessee v. Garner Citation: No. 83–1035, 83–1070 (1985) Facts: On October 3, 1974, Memphis Police Officers Hymon and Wright were dispatched to answer a "prowler inside call." When the police arrived at the scene, a neighbor gestured to the house where she had heard glass breaking and that someone was breaking into the house. While one of the officer radioed that they were on the scene, the other officer went to the rear of the house hearing a door slam and saw someone run across the backyard. The suspect, Edward Garner stopped at a 6–feet– high fence at the edge of the yard and proceeded to climb the fence as the police officer called out "police, halt." The police officer figured that if Garner made it over ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Procedure: Garner's father brought the action the police officer took in the Federal District Court for the Western District of Tennessee, looking for violations that were made of Garner's constitutional rights. The complaint was alleged that the shooting of Garner violated the Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Eighth, and Fourteenth Amendments of the United States Constitution. After a three day trial, the District Court entered judgement for all defendants. It dismissed the claims against the defendants as being the mayor and Officer Hymon and the Police Department as being the director for lack of evidence. Hymon's actions were then concluded to being constitutional by being under the Tennessee statute. The Court of Appeals affirmed with regard to Hymon, finding that he had acted accordingly to the Tennessee statute. The Court of Appeals then reversed and remanded. It reasoned that the killing of a fleeing suspect is "seizure" under the Fourth Amendment, and is therefore constitutional only if actions are reasonable. In this case the actions were found not to be reasonable. Officers cannot use deadly force unless they have probable cause that the suspect poses a serious threat to the officer or has committed a felony. Issue: Garner, the suspect's father brought forth that his unarmed son was wrongfully shot by a police officer as his son was fleeing from the burglary of an unoccupied house. He proposed a ... My Papa said with a grin that reached all the way to his ears on both sides. I was silent I had no words, all I could ever dream about at this age was going to Disneyland, and then I finally had the chance of going! Since I hadn't given an answer my Papa said, " Well if you don't want to go we could always still go to Build a Bear Workshop, it's your choice..." It was the easiest choice I ever had to make, and without even thinking I blurted out, " OBVIOUSLY DISNEYLAND ARE YOU CRAZY!?!" Driving to Disneyland felt like it took a lifetime, and after waiting ALL those hours we stopped but get this, we weren't even at Disneyland. While arriving, the first thing that I saw was Cinderella's castle. It was the most magical building I could've ever dreamed I would walk through. It was breathtaking, all of it from the gleaming golden castle tops to the royal blue roofs. So many thoughts were running through my head: "Is this true?" "Am I really here?!" And the answer was YES, I was actually at Disneyland, where dreams came true, where I met my favorite princesses, where I could be a princess. But it was night time so we had to spend the night at a hotel. But this wasn't just any ordinary hotel. THIS WAS THE DISNEY HOTEL! • 9. The Importance Of Hometowns Growing up in a large city can provide children with important lessons on diversity and allow them to explore incessantly. Growing up on a coast or near a mountain range supplies opportunities such as hiking, swimming, and other great outdoor activities you may not find elsewhere. Unlike both of these, I was raised in a small midwestern town with seemingly very little to do; however, this small town has helped shape who I am today. Hometowns can provide many meaningful experiences important to one's' development and that is what Smithton, Illinois has done for me. I believe that my hometown of Smithton, Illinois played a vital role in helping me develop my sense of creativity. Living in a neighborhood outside of town I often ran out of things to do, but luckily my best friend lived up the street. We were young, creative, and a little reckless which led to a lot of fun. Directly behind my house were the woods, a ceaseless amount of trees, brush, and bugs. After walking and exploring for a few minutes, the trees eventually diverge and there is a humongous downhill path. My bestfriend and I saw this hill has a great opportunity; soon, we had a mission to build ramps so we could jump over a monstrous brush pile at the bottom of the hill. We spent plenty of time seeking action and trouble as the adrenaline–junkie kids we were. Nevertheless, living in a small town means you have plenty of boundaries and a finite number of opportunities. For this reason we soon grew bored of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The Indian Act Of 1876 And The Amendment Of 1985 Since the beginning of colonization, indigenous people of Canada have been repressed in many ways by the Westerners. Aboriginal women have been having a really hard time, being not only aboriginal, but also women in a male–dominated society where women are seen as secondary and don't have all the rights and privileges that men have. We will focus here on the legal discrimination against indigenous women in Canada that came with the Indian Act of 1876 and the amendment of 1985, how those two events influenced women. We will first study why indigenous women have been more discriminated than indigenous men, then how the Indian Act reinforced this inequity. Then we will see how the 1985 amendment came to be, a century later and what are the consequences of legal discrimination for indigenous women in Canada. We will conclude that, in a context of discrimination against natives with colonization, the Indian Act made legal injustices in detriment of indigenous women, and that after years of favouritism against them they finally gained a bit of justice through the amendment of 1985. First of all, it's important to understand the context in which the Indian Act is taking place in terms of equity for aboriginal women. With the colonization from the British and the French in Canada came rapes, violence against indigenous population, especially women that were seen as weaker and easier prey . After the colonizing period, violence against aboriginal women came not only from the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. Toxic Mold Research Paper Whom to Sue When It Comes to Toxic Mold Exposure Toxic mold is one thing that you should never take lightly. Even though there are thousands of mold breeds, and though most of them are harmless, the few that are toxic are seriously dangerous. Not only can toxic mold hurt you, your family and cause heavy expenses in medical bills, but the cost to remove mold from your house is extensive as well. Since mold in a building is not your fault, you should not have to pay the removal cost, or possibly even that of the medical expenses. So whom you have to sue to get it covered? To find out, you need to ask yourself some questions: Where Were You When the Mold Affected You? First of all, you have to determine where the mold occurred, so that you can deduce where the blame lies. You have to consider your regular routine, and the conditions in said places that may have facilitated exposure to harmful breeds of mold. • 15. Alabama V. Jaffree ( 1985 ) Wallace, Governor of Alabama v. Jaffree (1985): Central Question: Does the Alabama statute 16–1– 20.1, allowing a period of silence for meditation or voluntary prayer violate the First Amendment Establishment Clause that is applied to the states by the Fourteenth Amendment? Facts of the Case: The case of Wallace v. Jaffree calls into question the constitutionality of an Alabama statute that authorized teachers to lead a one–minute period of silence for "meditation or voluntary" prayer in all public schools. Ishmael Jaffree, the parent of three students in the Mobile County Public School system filed a complaint that two of his three children had been "subjected to various acts of religious indoctrination," as a result of Alabama statute 16–1–20.1 and asked for an injunction prohibiting Mobile County schools from "maintaining or allowing the maintenance of regular religious prayer services." The purpose of Jaffree's complaint was to prohibit the devotional services occurring in his children's school and the consequent mockery of his children that occurred when they refused to recite the prayers to "Almighty God" (Stevens, 40). This type of law in Alabama public schools was not the first of its kind. Prior to statute 6–11–20.1, Alabama passed law 16–1–20 authorizing one minute of silence in public schools for meditation. After the authorization of statute 16–1–20.1 came 16–1–20.2, which allowed teachers to lead "willing students" in a prayer (Stevens, 40). Opinion of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Affordable Care Act and the Effect on the Economy Essay Affordable Care Act and the effect on the economy The Affordable Care Act, also called Obama Care, was signed into law by president Barrack Obama, on March 23, 2010 (Erickson, Scott 1). What exactly is the Affordable Care Act? It was a legislation that addressed the idea that all Americans should have access to affordable health care. The act was passed only after intense political battles in Congress, and as the legislation lingers through installment enhancements there is a great deal of doubt developing. Many were faulted into believing that the health care reform would "create 4 million jobs and nearly 480,000 jobs immediately" (Democratic Policy & Communications Center). However, multiple economists have viewed these statistics as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, many businesses will be forced to hire part–time or seasonal employees instead of fulltime. According to many economists, this bill raises many questions as to why jobs will be eliminated along with reduced wages and hours. According to the Congressional Budget office, this law will reduce the amount of labor used in the economy by nearly half (The Budget). This is because many businesses would prefer to hire part time employees or seasonal in order to bypass benefiting the worker. If a company hires full time employers they will qualify for health benefits, which will result in higher expenses for the owner, cutting wages and forgoing new hires. An example of this expenditure lies within the fast food giant stating, "The mandate eat up roughly 55 percent of its yearly net income after 2014"(Eaton, Sabrina). As a result of the Congressional Budget Law, White Castle will struggle to keep their business established. Critics analyze the Affordable Care Mandate gives businesses an incentive to cut hours and wages. A report released questioning business owners about the mandate. In the second quarter of 2004, the trade deficit relative to GDP surpassed the 5 percent mark for the first time. Many economists already considered trade deficits above 4 percent of GDP dangerously high. • 23. Tennessee V. Garner 1985 Tennessee v. Garner 1985 was a case that was the deciding factor that made it no longer acceptable for a police officer to use deadly force to inhibit a criminal from fleeing the scene. The only way that an officer would be able to do this is if the criminal was showing that they were going to be a greater threat if they were not dealt with immediately than they would be if they were just to continue pursuit of the person. This was a change to the old common law that if a criminal was trying to escape or flee from a scene a police officer was able to shoot and kill the suspect or they were also able to shoot warning shots to try to get the person to stop. When looking at the case the judges were trying to see if there was an issue since the officer had reason to believe that the suspect was unarmed and not dangerous. One of the big factors that made the case an issue was that while the officer shot the young man he was only acting under the rules that he was allowed to follow. If the criminal was trying to evade arrest they could use deadly force in order to finish the arrest. The officer had a thought that if the young man had made it over the fence that he would have evaded the arrest totally. Another detail of the court was that they said the boy was under seizure of the police since the police had tried to detain him of his freedom to leave which had been decided in another court case back in 1975. The outcome of the case was 6–3 in favor of yes, that deadly force could ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They did not provide a president, any kind of executive agency, or judiciary and they did not have any kind of tax base or way to pay off state and national debts. Document A shows how ineffective the government was because it was unable to impose taxation due to a very small minority. Rhode Island rejected the tax so the government decided not to put it into effect. If taxes had been put in place, some of the state and national debts may have been able to be paid off. Without a strong leader, basic things like taxes cannot be imposed, which is why the Articles were so ineffective. They did not provide a way for the states to be controlled. The Articles were ineffective also because they had a very limited scope and Congress lacked the ability to enforce any of the decisions that it made. • 26. Legt2751 Essay PART A Joan and Darby ("the taxpayers") have not filed tax returns in five years since 2005. The taxpayers sold their home in 2005 and their concerns are whether the sale has had any tax consequences for them. CGT Event The first issue is whether the sale of the taxpayers Hunter's Hill home on 15th May 2005 has triggered a Capital Gains Tax ("CGT") event. The applicable statute relevant to this issue is s104–10[1] of the ITAA97[2]. Since the taxpayers' home was disposed of with a change of ownership it has therefore triggered an A1 CGT event. s104–10 also states that the event occurs when the contract was entered into; in the taxpayers' case that is 15th May 2005 and not the 30th June 2005. The first method is called the discount method and it outlined in s115. It can be used only on assets where the CGT event occurred after 21 September 1999 and by individuals. The taxpayers satisfy both of these conditions and can therefore use this method. s115–100 states that individuals are to discount their capital gain by 50%. The second method is called the indexation method and is set out in s110–36. Indexation adjusts the cost base (except the third element) and can only be used if the CGT event occurred after 21st September 1999. Furthermore, the section states that the taxpayer needs to choose to use the indexation method; if no choice is made the discount method will be automatically applied. Therefore, the taxpayers may be limited to using the discount method as it can be assumed they did not specially choose the indexation method at the time of the CGT event in 2005. However, s103–25 states that the choice needs to be made on the day the taxpayer lodges their tax return. Since the taxpayers are yet to lodge theirs, they are still eligible to use this method. s960–275 sets out how to calculate the index factor: [pic] Using this formula the taxpayers should use an index factor of 1.730715.[9] Separating the assets As previously mentioned, the contract in which the taxpayers entered into changed in 1985. Fertility has remained around replacement level. Mortality has remained relatively constant as far as crude death rates go, but there has been an extention in the overall lifespan of an individual during this time. Like most countries that have completed the demographic transition France is engaged in a balancing act between mortality and fertility, and is in danger of experiencing a population decline. If life expectancies continue to increase or fertility rates decrease France could have some hard economic decisions to make in the future. Population Structure by Age While most of the population in 1985 was between the ages of 15 and 64, the population was beginning to grow older as a whole. The Atomic Energy Of Canada Limited Brief History (MICHAEL TABB) Merriam–Webster has defined reliability as: "the extent to which an experiment, test, or measuring procedure yields the same results on repeated trials".[1] As technology advances, so does the use of computing and software in health services. With the onset of cancer, Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL) created a medical linear accelerator known as the Therac–25. The machines responsibility is to accelerate and increase the energy of electrically charge atomic particles by the introduction of an electric field focused by magnets. These accelerators are used to treat cancer patients with radiation to remove malignant cancerous cells and tissue. The use of the machines caused radiation overdoses between 1985 and 1987 causing loss of life and limb for patients in six accidents.[2] These six accidents began 3 June 1985 with a sixty–one year old woman receiving her twelfth treatment at Kennestone Regional Oncology Center in Marietta, Georgia. She had her breast removed and lost the use of a shoulder and arm after feeling a "tremendous rush of heat and red–hot sensation", while receiving follow–up treatment for a malignant tumor removed from her breast in that facility (Porrelo, A.). • 33. Movie Analysis : The Geek, Society And Breaks Stereotypes I often associate the word "intellectual" with a very positive and benevolent connotation, but Real Genius has proven to me that being an intellectual does not automatically preclude someone from moral scrutiny. This 1985 movie captures an alternative view of the "geek" society and breaks stereotypes with the development of very three dimensional characters. But Real Genius is much more than just a movie that redefines academics, it is also a film that heavily stresses the importance of morality while promoting a revamped field of the sciences. Although at times very science– centered, the movie sneakily weaves traces of philosophy into the plot as well. With that said, it seems to me that Real Genius and the lecture on the Two Cultures have much more in common than meets the eye. The underlying theme of morality drives the plot of Real Genius. Throughout the film, there are numerous scenes that address the morality of the different characters. Not too long into the film, we are shown that Professor Hathaway has enlisted the help of Chris Knight and Mitch Taylor to create a 5–megawatt laser. But what we were not told at the time is that the laser is secretly a government funded project by the Defense Department, and that there was a research grant given to Pacific Tech to aid the project financially. Its citizens are well aware of the value of family planning and contraceptives. France's fertility rates have remained relatively stable between 1985 and 2012 and have also stayed close to replacement levels. The most noticeable changes have been the extending of the peak fertility years from the 25–29 age range to the 25–35 age range. The main factors that affect fertility in France are the high availability of contraceptives and the social norms governing family planning. Fertility Structure In 1985 there are relatively few births to women below the age of 15, with only 66 live births recorded. The age specific fertility rate for women below the age of 15 is .03 live births per 1000 women. For ages 15–19 the age specific fertility rate is much higher at 11.55 live births per 1000 women. The age specific fertility rate continues to rise in the 20–24 age range, with 97.18 live births per 1000 women. As shown in Figure 1, fertility peaks in the 25–29 age range with 142.51 live births per 1000 women. In the 30–34 age range we begin to see a rapid decline in fertility, with only 78.67 live births per 1000 women. It drops further with 29.75 live births per 1000 women aged 35–39 and 6.15 live births per 1000 women aged 40–44. For the age ranges 45–49 and 50–54 the combined age ... • 37. Let America Be America Again Poem Analysis Analysis of "Let America Be America Again" Langston Hughes wrote the poem "Let America Be America Again", where he touches on the failure of America to live up to the American dream that it was meant to be. There is a message full of disappointment and desperation to change the oppression in America. These are feelings that Hughes knows all too well. He knows the stab in the back feeling of working hard for a country that does not work hard for the worker and in this poem, he uses figurative language techniques to express them. The main idea of this poem is that America promised its people that they would be free, however many American residents were still enslaved. The author expressed how he has physically lived in America, but he has not lived in an America that holds up to the values and dreams it was founded on. He expresses this in lines 1–4 when he says, "Let it be the dream it used to be. Let it be the pioneer on the plain, seeking a home where he himself is free. (America never was America to me)". America was supposed to be a dream come true where all men were free and able to have equal opportunity. Hughes uses alliteration and repetition to emphasize this point. However, the black, the poor, and the oppressed never experienced this promised America. Langston Hughes recognizes in the poem that it is not right for the people who live and work in and love America to be enslaved by social injustice. During Hughes' time during the early 20th century, the country ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Essay on The Mallee Region of Victoria The Mallee Region of Victoria Location and Contents: The Mallee region of Victoria is situated in North–West Victoria and covers an area of around 44,000 square kilometres. The region is known to be associated with the adjacent land of South Australia and New South Wales and is also recognised to join with the Wimmera and Loddon regions of Victoria. Also, because of the large area which the region covers and the diversity it beholds, it is sometimes distinguished into two sub–regions, the north and the south. Whilst 38% of the land is occupied by the public, only 1% of the remaining 62% is protected from grazing animals and only 3.04% retains native vegetation. ???????? Biomes: The Mallee is the home of a variety of biomes: desert, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hydrosol is a very wet kind of soil and is saturated for the majority of the year, often located where former lake beds occur. Sudosol is more sodic than acidic, it is a Texture Contrast Soil and therefore there is a strong contrast between the surface and the subsoil. This is the most common type of soil in the Mallee region. Vertosols are soils which grow and shrink, causing cracking when the soil dries out. They occur along the creek and river beds as well as the broad plains of the Mallee. Along the coastlines of the Mallee are Calcarosol soils, they, unlike Sudosols and Vertosols, do not have a strong texture contrast throughout its layers. Lastly, two sandy soils have been identified in the Mallee region: Rudosol and Tenosol. Rudosols are very young and undeveloped soils and are widespread in the Big Desert and Sunset Country. Tenosols are also rather undeveloped and occur in the same areas as Rudosols. Tenosols generally have a 'low water holding capacity and fertility'. Having a vast selection of soils can only mean that a vast selection of produce comes from the area. Product information: A large array of products are grown in the north–west of Victoria. Some common fruits and vegetables which come from the Mallee are grapes (74% of Victoria's table grapes and 98% of its dried grapes), almonds and carrots, to name a few. Insterestingly, 20% of the almonds grown in the Mallee are transported to Asia and Europe. HOW IS THE PRODUCE GROWN IN THE ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

February 18, 1998 Adam Baxter Company/Local 190 Debrief and Endnotes These negotiation exercises are based on management–labor relations at Hormel Foods Corporation's main plant in Austin, Minnesota. The local union was Local P–9 of the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Union. The simulations are intended to portray events that occurred at Hormel, rather than to reflect precise details in Hormel's history. The company and union were intentionally disguised, with the aim of preventing possible bias in role– playing the exercises. The 1978 negotiation role–play presents a fairly accurate portrayal of management/labor relations at Hormel in 1978. The building of the new plant and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The harmonious relationship between management and the workers at Hormel was exemplified in the "Working Agreement," an ongoing contract securing jobs, profit sharing, wage increases, and worker autonomy. The company was nationally reputed to be a great place to work. The only previous strike had ended peacefully in 1933. Changes at Hormel In the 1970s, inflation skyrocketed and wage increases became harder to justify. To keep up with the competition from non–labor meatpackers, Hormel had decided to build a new facility and was considering building outside of Austin. As a concession for building the new plant in Austin, after the 1978 negotiations labor allowed the plant to operate at higher levels of production and allowed management to determine work methods. Then, in 1979, Local P–9 and other AFL/CIO member unions were engulfed by the UFCW Union of more than a million members. Thus, Local P–9 and its 1,700 members lost voice and influence in their parent union. By 1984, Hormel's competitors had cut base rate wages to close to $8.00/hour, while Hormel continued paying base rate wages of $10.69/hour. Management argued that the "escalator clause," which had been implemented in the 1978 contract to keep Hormel's wages in line with inflation, meant that wages also could be lowered. They asserted that the "escalator" clause allowed Hormel to set these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. 1985 Dbq DBQ 1985 The colonists were living in a brand new country that had no track record. Considering that the articles of confederation had no precedent to follow, and no other government to imitate; the articles were fairly good. However, the Articles of Confederation could have been more effective than they were. Effective does not necessarily mean that the government was strong. It does mean that the government was able to provide the people with the kind of government they wanted and needed. Also, ineffective does not necessarily mean weak. The Articles were deliberately written for a weak central government, the colonists set it up they way they wanted to. Despite the fact that they one the revolutionary war, and they now ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They were not immediately ratified because there were land disputes and there had to be a unanimous decision. Everybody hat wanted and claimed more land than they had. New Jersey, Maryland and Delaware all had no claims. These states were the ones who initially refused to ratify the Articles; they were not prepared to ratify a constitution which gave them no say in any matters. The larger states on the other hand felt that they were underrepresented. They were hoping for more equality in size (document E). Eventually, Maryland changed their minds about ratifying the constitution because they ceded the land. Since the government could not tax, they were in major financial trouble. They began to print continentals which were not backed by any commodities so they were worthless. The rest of the world meanwhile was waiting to see how Britain would react; so they were afraid to get too friendly with the colonists. The colonists though, knew that it was time to build up trade and trust with other countries. Eventually, their financial plans fell through, so France and the Netherlands made loans and were able to help keep the United States afloat. The Articles of Confederation confirmed the weak decentralized system which was already in operation. The Articles did not make it clear that the Congress was to be a real government. It was therefore, an uncertain central government. Many people felt that the colonists should just try to set up a new confederation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
