 Scientific name: Triticum
 Origin: southwestern Asia
Wheat is a cereal grain, now cultivated worldwide.
Wheat varieties in Pakistan include Mexipak-65, NARC-
2011, AARI-2011, Wafaq-01.

4.  Wheat is a Rabi crop that is grown in the winter
season.
 Sowing takes place in October to December.
 Harvesting done during the months of February and
May.

5.  Wheat grain is highly palatable.
 A major staple food that provides about 20%
of food energy and protein worldwide.
 Mainly grown for use in human food
production.
 Also used in poultry diets.
