International tourism refers to
tourism that crosses national
borders. Globalization has
made tourism a popular global
leisure activity. The World
Tourism Organization defines
tourists as people "traveling to
and staying in places outside
their usual environment for not
more than one consecutive
year for leisure, business and
other purposes".

3. Inbound Tourism
Visitors from overseas
coming into the country.
Generally, when we use the
term inbound tourism in the
India we are referring to the
people from different
countries travelling to India.
E.g. a tourist coming from
the USA, France, Germany
etc. to the India.

Travelling to a different
country for a visit or a
holiday. Generally, when we
use the term outbound
tourism in the India we are
referring to the India
residents travelling out of
the India . For example, you
are an outbound tourist
from the India if you go to
Spain on holiday.

6. Inter-Regional Tourism
Inter-Regional Tourism may be considered
as traveling within a regional bubble
where regional word is a reflection of
similar cultural and climatic dimensions of
small distance within a political boundary
of a country.
Therefore an inter-Regional Tourism is an
act of tourism considered as within same
political boundaries for the purpose of
leisure, pleasure, fun, recreation, visiting
friends within small local surroundings for

Hence an Intra-Regional Tourism can be
defined as :-

8. Domestic /Internal/ National
Tourism
the two aspects of tourism coined
on geographical and other bases like
citizenship, travel documents and
currency involved – certainly have
much in common and so may be
considered essentially the same
activity having the same sphere.
It is also known as internal as well as
national tourism. However, in
ancient India, it as known as
‘Deshatan‘. As in earlier period of
human civilization the people were
free to move any place without prior
information, restrictions and other
formalities.

Budget Travelers
With set ups like hostels for travelers, various low budget
options have come up recently in India. Numerous budget
hotels, bed and breakfast and other such options are there
to cater the travelers, who are financially constrained. The
taxes and other expenses for moving around the country
are comparatively lower from other foreign destinations
therefore it also becomes a good choice for budget
travelers from around the globe.

11. Visa on Arrival Boosting
Tourism
A bureaucratic and fast growing country like
India has a lot dependent on its government
policies. Visa on arrival in India, which applies to
tourists from over 40 countries, was started in
2014, since then a rise of foreign visitors has
been observed. This policy is expected to be
extended to more than 100 nationalities in the
coming years.
