This study represents the first attempt to characterize Colletotrichum species associated with
anthracnose of mango leaves in Guangxi Province, China using morphological identification and
phylogenetic analysis. In the present study, morphological characteristics of the isolates agreed with
the description of C. gloeosporioides, but cultural characteristics, which may be diverse due to
cultural conditions, and conidial morphology cannot distinguish between species in the C.

2016), however, this is the first description of C. fructicola infecting mango in China. Since, C.

American female developing in a working class Chicago neighborhood. The writer is similar to the

ABSTRACT
Shelf–life of fruit was significantly enhanced with minimum ripening percentage, higher number of
healthy fruit percentage in Kesar mango having sp. gr. < 1.00 (M3) fallowed by sp. gr. 1.00–1.02
(M2). Wax coating 6 per cent (R3) was effective to increasing the shelf–life of fruit, ripening days,
healthy fruit per cent and minimum ripening per cent. Soft–rot diseases incidence was does not
found in hot water (R1) and bavistin (R2) treatments. A comparative study on the effect of low
temperature storage of fresh harvested mango stored at 150C (T1) and 200C (T2) was made with
respect to physiological changes. Not only delay the ripening percentage with ripening day, but also
increase the healthy fruit per cent in lower temperature at 150C of storage temperature with 85% RH
up to 42nd days of shelf–life.

In Sandra Cisneros's The House on Mango Street, Cisneros uses metaphors to characterize the
people and conditions on Mango Street. In Mango Street, poverty and gender inequality frequently
hinder women from escaping Mango Street and the abusiveness of their households. Furthermore,
Mango Street's women often find themselves trapped in the expectations of marriage and
subservience because society reduces their value to the basis of their beauty. Esperanza realizes the

these events are extremely devastating, heartbreaking, and life changing, Mariatu learns to seek the
positives in her situations to make her life more joyful. The first traumatic event that Mariatu
experienced was her little brother Santigie dying when Mariatu was 6 years old. Over the past years,
Mariatu has formed a strong bond with him through playing and talking. When he died, in order to
cope with her loss, she imagined that Santigie could be a spirit watching over her. "I was walking
one day, I thought I could hear his voice calling me. I turned to look, but there was no one there.
This happened several times over the next year." (Kamara 19), mariatu proclaims. These
occurrences made Mariatu think that Santigie was truly a spirit looking over her. Mariatu
contemplating this assumably helped her cope with her issues by thinking that Santigie is in a better
place now, looking over her shoulder. An additional traumatic event occured when Mariatu gets
attacked by the rebels in her home village. She experiences many people she knows getting not only
murdered, but also tortured mentally and physically. In order to get through what is happening to
her, she relies on god; "Please let me die quickly. Let it be over quickly, too. Don't let the rebels cut
my body piece by piece." (Kamara 35). Although Mariatu wasn't trying to live, she tried to deal with
her fear by praying to god

The third is Sally, who shows Esperanza all the dangers and scary things of adulthood. Esperanza
can share almost all her feelings with Sally. "Sally, do you sometimes wish you didn't have to go
home? Do you wish your feet would one day keep walking and take you far away from Mango
Street, far away and maybe your feet would stop in front of a house, a nice one with flowers and big
windows and steps for you to climb up two by two upstairs to where a room is waiting for you."
(Cisneros 82). This is something Esperanza never even told her family, and shows that she had a big
desire to leave Mango Street, but cannot yet. Sally introduced Esperanza to situations in life that

Minerva already has two kids and a husband who has left her, causing Minerva to regret her life on

written by Ishmael Beah, a boy soldier that lost everything. They both were casualties to one of the
most brutal civil wars; however, their experiences were different due to gender.
Kamara originated from Sierra Leone and lived in small villages until the age of 12. She heard talk
of rebels coming to her villages and she and her family prepared for it every time until the day her

A future can never be certain, but there are things that may help it to become more clear. The House
on Mango Street, by Sandra Cisneros, is a simplistic yet emotionally moving piece of writing. The
narrator is a young Latina girl who has found herself living in a house on Mango Street. Not
following a chronological order, the short vignettes give a sense of incomplete endings and a never
ending story. Although the book does follow Esperanza's viewpoint, the book's title fully embodies
the experiences from Esperanza Cordero and the community around her. In the beginning of the
novel, the house on Mango Street was immediately shown to have a special place in Esperanza's
course of life. Although the house wasn't in agreement to what she was expecting, it was finally a
secure residency. "The house on Mango Street is ours, and we don't have to pay rent to anybody, or
share a yard with the people downstairs, or be careful not to make too much noise, and there isn't a

young girl by the name of Esperanza Cordero, who occupies her childhood in an indigent Latino
neighborhood in Chicago, Illinois. The books expresses her dire need to have a place where she can
call home, and escape the harsh reality of her expected life. Though, her life on Mango Street is
bearable with help of her little sister Nenny, her two best friends Rachel and Lucy, and her other
friend Sally. On her journey to adulthood, Sandra Cisneros will show how Esperanza assimilates
into a mature young lady, who truly find her identity, and develops emotionally as well as
