1. Double Page Spread Analysis
Here Lilly Allen devotes the half of the double page spread to her
posing as well as the main text at the top and the rest is the
interview with her. Lilly Allen is standing in what is meant to be an
intimidating pose, by leaning her shoulders and head forward and
keeping her hands on her hips this shows the audience, that she has
attitude, which matches perfectly with the head line. Her facial
expression has a cheeky touch to it; she’s looking directly into the
camera on a side glance, with her lips parted, which adds a slightly
seductive look to her persona. The rest of her is rough and rugged
which is what the whole article is about; her being blunt and honest
and an up front type of girl, this is shown through her hair being
messy and the black eyeliner doesn’t make her look girly, but
rougher.
Her outfit matches the article colour wise, black red and white,
which is what the writing on the article is, her red top links to her
name which is also in red, red has an important theme to it which
shows the importance of Lilly Allen this allows the reader to know
2. that NME is loyal to the celebrities that appear on their magazine.
The title is original and different and bold so it stands out on the
page due to the black on the white colouring. It’s been presented in
quite a wacky and emo ish style, with the entire letters look like they
have been taken out of specific magazines or newspapers, which
could be a representation that Lilly is highly and commonly spoken of
on these magazines and newspapers. The title grabs the attention of
the audience which contradicts what it is saying, “People think I’m an
attention seeker, I’m just honest.” Here she is trying to defend
herself but by doing the exact opposite and attracting the attention
from the audience, which she does so successfully. Also, by wearing
Bright colours in her costume choice has also done the opposite
effect as it brings in the audience more and so does her choice of
hair styling and make up, as its all dark colours based on a white
background. The white background could be a representation of
purity, and having Lilly Allen on there and her continuation of dark
colours and blunt outbursts shows her bad personality traits mixed in
with the angelic side of her personality.
In the main headline, it says “I’m JUST being honest,” it sounds as if
she is justifying herself for anything that has been perhaps said about
her in previous newspaper or magazine articles that have made her
come out with this comment. She could be using this article in NME
to help raise her popularity with her audience, and perhaps change
their perspective of her, or even respect her for being so “blunt” and
“out there.”.
