Price Gouging In The United States
The idea of price gouging can have many different perspectives on it, and is very controversial. Price gouging is when a seller spikes their prices of
goods, services, or other purchase products to a level higher than reasonable. Ethically, I do agree with the fact that merchants shouldn't sky rocket their
product prices during a state of emergency–price gouging.
Illegally, price gouging is continuing to affect our labor market and offset the cost of living in many states. Price gouging is continuing to affect the
health of many people due to pharmaceutical companies and their major increases in price. Lastly, price gouging just is unjust, immoral, and against
the law in states. While there are no federal regulations to price gouging and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Price gouging occurs when a merchant drastically raises their prices on daily necessities. When setting cities living wage and cost of living, the cost
of daily necessities plays a role. Cost of living is the amount of money needed to sustain a certain level of living, including basic expenses such as
housing, food, taxes and health care.
A book called The fundamentals of minimum wage fixing by Francois Eyraud and Catherine Saget talks brief about cost of living and how it is
incorporated into minimum wage. The authors gave different ways on how the cost of living is determined. According to the two, they shared that the
cost of living is determined by the price of goods (standard necessities to live), and wage statistics submitted by the United States Department of Labor
(Eyraud, Saget, 2005). Both living wage and cost of living differentiates by state and cities. Cost of living effects how the government set the nations
minimum wage. When merchants continuously raise prices of daily necessities and they are unreasonable, it can affect the cost of living. To prevent
this trickle down effect, the United States government should create federal regulations on price gouging to prevent an increase in cost of living which
then leads to an increase in minimum wage, which then leads to possible jobs

The Effect Of Boiling Water Changed My Life
Essay Prompt: Describe a teacher or course assignment that has had the most impact on you and why.
Taking the temperature of boiling water changed my life. It wasn't until eight years after participating in a simple, yet elegant, marine science lab
experiment that I realized its full impact on me. It had infiltrated my life so quietly that the effect had gone completely unnoticed. At least consciously.
Unconsciously, as I look back, there were loads of little signs that something was different after that lab class: my thinking became more focused, I
was able to anticipate questions and challenges to what I read and wrote, I entertained a variety of perspectives on issues I thought about and discussed
without having to be prompted to do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Did the other groups? Did we all have the same equipment? Had it been calibrated so that everyone started with the same baseline? What about the
water itself? Did it all come from the same source? What else could possibly influence the outcome of this experiment? Another hour passed quickly
as we discussed hundreds of possibilities for the variations in our recorded results. At the end of our lab session, we were assigned our first 10–page
lab report for the term. Ten pages on taking the temperature of boiling water!? How would we manage to get ten pages out of this simple assignment? It
turns out that ten pages was conservative. Our lab reports would follow the scientific method: We'd state our hypothesis and the assumptions we had
before conducting the experiment; we'd list and describe the procedures followed, step–by–step, including a list of the equipment and other materials
used; we'd discuss the collection of data and provide detailed notes of the recordings; and finally, draw some conclusions about the findings. When all
was said and done, each of us turned in a ten or more page report that had opened our eyes to the importance of replication of experiments, and to
standardization in procedures and equipment to minimize experimental error. Eight years later, as I was waxing nostalgic to a prospective honors
student sitting in my office, I recalled that boiling water experiment and

INTRODUCTION:
Today it is important for all food diagnostic laboratories and research facilities to implement and make accurate quality of analysis as per the reach,
volume and kind of the work performed. The essential go for any expository food testing or analytical laboratory ought to be to guarantee that their
scientific results are of accurate quality concerning their accuracy and trueness. This relies on upon whether lab is mean to apply for technical
competence. The lab 's support in proficiency testing activities is the prerequisite of appropriate accreditation. The reason for this necessity is to
delivered diagnostic result exact and repeatable by laboratories. Proper capability testing information can be utilized to uncover a laboratory facility 's
ability to potential clients, customers, accreditation bodies and other outer substances. Contribution in the proficiency testing additionally gives
exceptionally valuable feedback in the inner checking of a lab 's quality framework. This proficiency testing activities helps a lab to confirm its
competence to perform particular tests and calibration. All labs which are included in the authority control of foods are accredited on account of
national or territorial regulations.(1,2). In specific nations there is no particular quality frameworks, laboratories in this nations additionally need to

ISOPOD BEHAVIOR LAB REPORT
Background Information:
In our lab we were working with isopods, also known as pill bugs or rollie pollies. The isopods that we worked with were land isopods. They like
to live in moist places under untouched objects such as boards, bricks, rotting logs and or rocks. Basically, they will live anywhere! If you are lucky
enough, you can even find them next to buildings where it is moist and if there is food. All living organisms like certain things and don't like certain
things, for example; most animals will try to eat something sugary or sweet, like a piece of candy. While the same animal my not wanting to eat
something that is not sugary or sweet like peas.

At the beginning of our lab we had placed the pill bugs in the petri dish with dry filter paper and we observed their behavior. The pill bugs were going
around the inside rim of petri in circles following each other, almost as if it were a game of tag. The pill bugs never seemed to stop moving, flipping
over and were constantly climbing. Some of the pill bugs even tried to escape from the petri dish, but our group was quick to make that didn't happen.
As our lab went on, we placed the 4 different pieces of filter paper with solutions on them and then added 4 pill bugs to it. We collected lots of
information during this procedure.
This table represents how many pill bugs were on each slice of filter paper, that had a different solution on each of them, over 30 second intervals
lasting 5 minutes. This is what were recorded our data on for this part of the lab.
Conclusions:
The purpose of our experiment was to observe the behavior of the pill bugs. We were trying to find exactly whether the pill bugs would be attracted or
repelled by the chemicals. The chemicals used were vinegar, water, salt solution and a sugar

A Large Computer Forensics Laboratory
A Coordination Plan is critical to the success of a large computer forensics laboratory. It is necessary for not only members of the forensics team, but
for synchronizing with organizational leads and legal entities. Most labs are operated under best practices and are structured within a hierarchy from
the investigation assistant, the lab assistant, the lead investigator as well as the project lead. These positions can be changed based on the case and
expertise required. Best practices state that personnel assignments should be made prior to starting the investigation. The coordination plan should be
discussed at all levels of an organization since the lab needs to comply with the overall rules and regulations of the organization, but it is also likely that
the lab's functions will impact the organization at some point. Competencies Coordination is critical at the senior leadership level in order to facilitate
continuity of operations plan (COOP) planning. Most facilities that are Information technology centric focuses primarily on IT contingency plan. The
IT contingency plan is a function of the COOP and must be orchestrated with great care. In order to create a comprehensive COOP, many departments
within the organization must be involved. Finance, managers, network engineers, facilities personnel, system administrators, and security professionals
are key stakeholders during COOP development process. Coordination with outside organizations is required in order to

Copper Cycle Lab Report
Purpose
The ultimate purpose of this experiment is to go through the copper cycle through various steps that include dissolution, precipitation, conversion,
and reduction of copper. Throughout the processes the qualitative observations were recorded to see what effect each type of acid and decanting has
on copper. All of these steps were successfully completed by using different acidic solutions and zinc to take copper through the cycle from copper
solid to copper nitrate to copper hydroxide, to copper oxide, to copper II sulfate, and back to copper solid.

Nitric Acid was then added to the copper wire in order to make the copper wire dissolve. As soon as the acid was added, the beaker turned an orange
color and the solution became green releasing gas into the air. This is defined as the dissolution of copper. This observation was expected to occur and
happened as well.
Cu(s)+HNO3(aq)в†’ CuHNO3(aq)
Then there was the precipitation of the cupric hydroxide. For this step Sodium Hydroxide and water were added to the beaker with the solution until
the precipitate settled down. When water and Sodium Hydroxide were added, the solution went from a green color to a dark sky blue color. The
observations that were observed were also expected.
CuHNO3(aq)+NaOH(aq)в†’ CuOH(s)+NaHNO3(aq)
The next step involved the conversion to cupric oxide. In order to do this the solution was heated until it was a dark black color. This took
approximately 30 minutes. After the solution was black, it was allowed to settle. Once it was settled, black particles were apparent in the beaker with the

Using The New Ideas And Strategies I Have Gained Essay
The Digital Student
In order to understand the ways in which I plan to use the new ideas and strategies I have gained in the "Digital Student" course, you must first
understand my teaching placements. Each school day I teach in two vastly different settings. In the morning I teach at an urban high school. We have
roughly twelve hundred and fifty students. At my high school, we face all of the challenges you find in an urban setting. Sixty–one percent of our
students are economically challenged. Many of my students work in the evening to help out at home or to have spending money. Attendance is a
concern. Attending school regularly is an issue with many of my students. We also have a large population of special needs students. Twenty
–two
percent of our students have disabilities. The subject I teach at the high school is junior/senior level Earth and Space Science. I teach three sections and
have a total of sixty–four students in my classes. My course fulfills the third year of the science graduation requirement for many of my students.
Accessing technology in my school can be challenging. We do not have one to one computer access for our students. We have one computer lab, one
library computer lab and Chromecarts. The Chromecarts are frequently out of circulation because of their use in testing and in our credit recovery
classes. This year I have been experimenting with the flipped classroom model. Therefore, I surveyed my students for computer access at the

Medical is having right now is not only a device problem nor a cultural problem, but it is a management problem and their inability to properly handle
possible recalls in the industry. Recalls are not uncommon, but it is how companies handle these recalls. Are they ahead of the game? Do they
understand their products, and know what actions need to implement when things go wrong?
Abbott Labs may have to take control of the management of St. Jude Medical. Abbott Labs has 211 executives and St. Jude Medical has many
additional executives themselves (Unknown, 2015, para.2). There is a high probability that St. Jude Medical's executive team will be reduced as
Abbott Labs becomes more involved in the day–to–day business of their new acquisition. The question is how far does Abbott Labs go down in the
chain of command. Will they go as far as down as lower management, for example: Field Directors, or will they stand back and let St. Jude Medical
manage their entire business? I believe Abbott Labs needs to change how St. Jude Medical runs their management style. There are too many signs that
there is a lack of leadership within the organization.

The X-Files By Christopher Carroll: Plot Summary
Lab 257 is a comprehensively written book of conspiracy and not science in my humble opinion. This work examines a lab in the Plum Island area in
New York that is operating under the government for allegedly the betterment of farmer and farm animal research. However, Michael Christopher
Carroll, the author, using his research quickly points out that is not the case. Rather, the main agenda of the lab is to produce viruses and other
microbes that could decimate populations of livestock of the United State's enemies in times of war while also developing vaccines to prevent other
nations from doing the same to it. This concept is horrifying and sounds like something one may find in the latest science fiction movie or The X–Files,
but Carroll believes this to be true and rightfully so. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

played at in the book, but rather the work is all in all a hypothetical conspiracy theory with shocking coincidences. Lab 257 does focus largely on
different strains of bacteria and viruses namely, West Nile Virus, African Swine Fever, Lyme Disease and many more. The book does not focus much
on the mechanisms of diseases per se, but it does cover the symptoms and/or effects of the diseases. Vaccination and microbiological warfare are also
major themes Carroll enjoys delving into. The histories of outbreaks are also

Edwin A. Abbott's A Square
Edwin A. Abbott was an English Schoolmaster and Theologian. Abbott was born in Marylebone, Middlesex, England on December 20, 1838 to

When observing, assisting, or leading a high school or undergraduate chemistry lab, the statement that is frequently said and heard is the reminder to
put on safety goggles. Often times students will forget about wearing their goggles or they will place their goggles on their foreheads, instead of
covering their eyes. The have been personal experiences where students will argue with the instructor about not wearing their goggles during an
experiment. The distaste of the safety goggles typically comes from the comfortability of the goggles (1), and students will remove their goggles as
soon as possible. Once an instructor notices the improper placement of the goggles, the whole lab hears the loud statement of "PUT ON YOUR

species of paramecium in the laboratory. Allelopathy is a way organisms inhibit or affect other organisms when developing in nature. This insures the
survival of one organism against another organism. For instance in plants, some can release a chemical that enters the environment and inhibits the
growth and development of surrounding plants. Another example in nature is plants developing defenses to prevent herbivores from eating them. This
kind of competition happens in nature when the need for resources is limited and survival is necessary. Competition is displayed throughout nature all
the time. A man named Georgy Gause previously conducted this experiment between P. aurelia and P. caudatum. He determined that different factors
influence how the two species compete and coexist. Ever since then not many scientist have attempted to experiment on paramecium. Only until
recently have more experiments been attempted. The issue with the experiment was that it was conducted in 1935 and nowadays there are more
advance ways to conduct and interpret the experiment and results. As previously stated, knowledge on this particular subject has been limited. Ever
since Gause's experiment, not many other scientists have attempted it until recently. As a class, the experiment was a way to observe competition and
better interpret the results gathered

Sky View High School Clock Analysis
The clock is ticking. My heart is beating so hard that I can feel it clear down in my toes. Kahoots light, bubbly, and overly obnoxious music

Each chromebook lab can hold up to forty different machines at one time, while other labs – such as the iPads – vary dependant upon the individual
classes needs. The Dell Optiplex 790 PC computer was released on the market in 2011 and brought to Sky View in 2015. The Sky View PC lab run
by Marsha Larson contains 70 of them while the career center, managed by Heather Berentzen, holds approximately 50. So if you were to add up all
of the technology available for student use – excluding the iPads because they are for special use only – that leaves students and faculty with 400 PCs
and Chromebooks to support the 1,709 students that attend Sky View High School. If you were to break it down even further, to schedule the
career lab it is preferred that you have a career based activity prepared upon use. So that can take another 50 PC units away from the shortage of
technology already at hand. According to Marsha Larson, a common occurring problem is when a teacher gets denied from her lab due to
overbooking. The teachers next step would be to then book a chromebook lab. But if there are no current chromebook labs accessible at that point, they
can then attempt to schedule time in the career center which is the least likely available

Lab Safety Code At Biosafety Labs
Chemistry laboratories pose a threat to the consumer; however, they also affect the researcher. A young Singaporean researcher contracted Severe
Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) through an experiment that had gone wrong. At first many people thought he was sickened with this disease
because there was a SARS crisis all around Asia; however, that was not the case. In the article, SARS Experts want Labs to Improve Safety Practices,
the researcher claimed that he "didn't have the background to understand how to handle dangerous agents." Due to the chemistry lab, the researcher was
injured. This then formulated an international problem in which the national legislation instructed a very detailed safety code at biosafety labs.
Many amateur experimenters do not know lab safety by heart so they tend to perform dangerous actions that may lead to injuries or death
depending on how potentially dangerous the experiment is. In my personal experiences, I have seen many improper lab practices in which I helped
teach people how to correctly perform these actions. This includes adding acids to water and not the reverse way because acids may bubble and
splash everywhere, pouring liquids from small containers to big containers unless a valve is available is favored because it is easier to spill the
content from a big container into the small container, and to wear close–toed shoes in order to prevent falling dangerous materials from making contact
with skin. As one may see, there are very

Argumentative Essay On Sesame Street And Medusa
Furthermore, in June 2017, Sesame Street introduced a new female character named Redusa. Redusa is passionate about keeping the Earth clean,
and she uses her magic wand to recycle ("The Recycling Fairy"). I find Redusa's name ironic because it rhymes with Medusa. However, I believe,
Sesame Street, provided a twist to Redusa's name because her sole purpose is to heal the Earth, contrary to Medusa who became a monster by
insulting Athena, the Greek God of War. In other words, unlike Medusa, Redusa is in control of her destiny. Redusa's independence teaches girls the
importance of preserving Mother Earth, while simultaneously emphasizing women's freedom. Sesame Workshop has also worked to be more
inclusive of the LGBT+ community in recent years. The screenwriters' decision to incorporate a transgender Muppet on the show mirrors the gradual
changes that have progressively taken place within the framework of feminism. Chip Day writes, "Sesame Street for the 2017 season will include a
transgender character whose project name is "Brunny." He will be a rabbit–like animal who spent many years homeless, but through the help of others,
he manages to get back on track" (Nevada County Scooper,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, Sesame Workshop's CEO's have all been white men, and such inequality translates to Sesame Street because they owned the show.
Sesame Workshop also includes biases in Sesame Street by limiting the number of racially diverse Muppets and humans in the show. For example,
Osvaldo, the first male bilingual monster in the program, and Segi barely made appearances. As an Afro–Latina mother, it was infuriating to find out
that Segi was nameless for two years. Sesame Workshop's decision to leave Segi without a name, painfully reminded me of what happened during
slavery when European colonialists forced Africans to lose their identity and reclaim a new one, for Africans to conform to their

The Day Of The Great Gatsby By F. Scott Fitzgerald
She was just an average 18 year old girl, when she thought her life was over. It all had happened three months ago. It was just another sunny fall day,
in the Malibu, California. She had gone through four years of high school just to get to this point. She thought it would one of the best days of her
life, until it all fell apart. Finally after three months she thought it was all over. Then Becky Newman realized she was in for a very long ride, that
would change everything.

"Hello?" Becky said groggily.
"Hello, is this Becky Newman?" An emotionless voice said.

Chemical Reaction Lab
Type of Reactions We did a lab on many reactions to find the products of the reactions. We conducted four group experiments and three class
experiments, following very strict safety procedures given to us by our instructor. We used goggles and aprons which were required at all times. We
could not sniff any gasses or walk into clouds of smoke unless we were instructed to. We had to describe the reactants and products and what is taking
place during the reaction.
Procedures
We had to follow seven separate instructions for each of the separate reactions.
1.We had to obtain a small piece of Magnesium. Holding it with forceps, we placed it in the flame of a lit Bunsen burner until there was no more
reaction in the Mg. We were instructed to not look in the bright light. We observed what was produced.

We had to add a chunk of Sodium to a water bucket outside. We gently dropped it in, got away from it and observed the reaction.
3.We had to add 5 ml of Hydrochloric acid to a small beaker and swirl it. Then we added sodium hydroxide and had to check for heat and color change.
4.We had to add a small strip of copper to a beaker that held 3 ml of silver nitrate. We had to observe the reaction.
5.We had to add pennies to nitric acid in an Erlenmeyer flask under the fume hood. We had to be cautious because the nitric acid was highly corrosive
and there was laughing gas and noxious fumes produced.
6.We heated sodium chlorate strongly. We added gummy bears to the hot liquid and the sucrose in the gummy bears ignited and burned.
7.We added 5 ml of lead(II) nitrate to 5 ml of potassium iodide in a small beaker. We had to observe the precipitate formed.

The perfect example of this situation is when we had to change labs for our advanced lab testing portion related to the Partner for Health program.
Originally we used HDL labatory however due to some recent bad press we no longer felt this lab was a reliable option. We had to re–assure both the
patients and the client that they would recieve the same quality of testing that they were use to with previous lab draws. As part of choosing a
labatory, I reseached labs that offered similar advanced lab testing. I then sent the top three labs a proposal along with a list of questions. The
questions were based on level of service, customer satisfation, flexibilty, and a request for data supporting population health research. Based on these

change in the lab, I had the first labs drawn at a board retreat where only 20 members were impacted instead of the 1200 enrollees. This allowed me
to gather facts on a smaller spectrum and to make corrections before we have all of the participants present for the lab draws. Some of the
information received from this test group was not positive but it was easily corrected. The things that needed to be addressed were based on
knowlegde deficit and a lack of communication between the client and our company on some miscellanous issues. Once these concerns were

Case Report On Methotrexate
Adverse drug reaction : Case reports on methotrexate toxicity varied presentation.
Introduction :
In 1949, Sidney Farber, M.D., a pathologist and a clinician formed a theory that folic acid is required for the growth of cancer cells and methotrexate
being a folate antagonist can be used to counter it. Since then it has been used in dermatology, gynaecology, rheumatology and cancers.
Methotrexate formerly known as amethopterin is an antimetaboliteand dermatologically it is FDA approved mainly for psoriasis and sezary syndrome.
Structurally it is 4–amino–N methyl pteroylglutamic acid which is very much similar to folic acid. It is competitive antagonist of dihydrofoltate
reductase.

Enzyme Lab

Finding the Greatest Amount of Product with a Spectrophotometer
Introduction For the enzyme experiment, I hypothesized that test tube number one would have the greatest amount of product. My lab partners and I
believed that number one would have the most significant amount of product because it had the highest mL amount of the potato extract. The potato
extract is the enzyme of the investigation being used which is catecholase (Picture 4). The substrate in the investigation is catechol (Picture 6), and the
reddish–brown product is called benzoquinone (Figure 2). Enzymes are proteins that help the speeding up of chemical reactions. Enzymes will never
destroy unless pH, salt, and temperature negatively affect it. When the enzyme is finished with one substrate, it moves on to another one directly after.
According to the lab manual by Pearson (2011), substrates are the reactant molecules that are being changed by the enzyme. It is known that when the
substance is an enzyme, it ends in letters "ase." Substrates and enzymes have a lock and key relationship with one another. The key in the relationship
is the substrate, and the lock in the relationship is the enzyme (Cap, 2016). An example of an enzyme and substrate relationship is sucrase and sucrose.
The enzyme sucrase positions the sucrose, which is table salt, in a way that it can be broken down into the parts of glucose and fructose (Figure 1). The
purpose of this

Quaternary Ammonium Compounds Research Paper
Quaternary ammonium compounds (QACs), also known as quats, are usually positively charged molecules with a nitrogen atom that has four other
bonds (Sabapathy, 1994). Because of the positive charge on the nitrogen atom, quaternary ammonium compounds are formulated as a salt and are
usually paired with a negatively charged compound or ion (Sabapathy, 1994). In terms of practical use, QACs are commonly used as a broad spectrum
antimicrobial. In other words, it affects the two major types of bacteria, Gram–positive bacteria and Gram–negative (Lu, Wu, & Fu, 2007). QACs can
be found in a variety of products, ranging from household products such as Lysol disinfecting wipes to sanitizing agents commonly used in food
service. As with any chemical, toxicity is based on dosage . It is known that QACs can be toxic, if not... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For quaternary ammonium compounds, despite the structural motif of the positively charged nitrogen atom, it can be classified within different
categories based off the specific compound. However, it appears that affecting cell membrane is the more common mechanism. The chemicals, diquat
and paraquat, which are actually used as an herbicide, are examples of quaternary ammonium compounds that do not really fall within one specific
category of mechanism. Through a redox reaction, both of these chemicals form superoxide (O2–) Superoxide is a free radical, which typically is a
type of molecule with an unpaired electron and is consequently extremely reactive. Therefore, superoxide proceeds to remove electrons from other
compounds within the vicinity, which could be as vital as DNA. Thus, the mode of action for diquat and paraquat is not specific to bacteria or
unwanted plant species, but rather it is similar in plants, bacteria, and

The doors of the cupboard/ room where the chemicals are stored need to be fireproof. This is because if there is a fire and there is no fireproof

increase the chances of someone getting hurt as well as increasing the probability of damage being done to the buildings surrounding.
The chemicals are stored in order of risk and state of matter to reduce the risk of danger. Acids are kept away from alkalis and are kept on the floor,

Reflection Paper For Teachers
During the month of November, I became our school's acting testing coordinator. Our testing coordinator was in an accident and went out on medical
leave. She was suddenly out for an undetermined amount of time and with a severe concussion was unable to remember what she completed and what
she did not. During her absence, there were two assessments and a survey that needed to me completed. These assessments included SAT 10, FFT
(Teacher Survey) and MAP–R. This was a very demanding experience. The first thing that needed to be completed was the FFT Teacher Survey. This
is important to all teachers on–cycle using the Framework for Teaching. The Survey is a vital component to a teachers overall effectiveness. If left
incomplete, the teacher receives a score of zero for that portion. When I became the acting testing coordinator, only two weeks were left in the
window and no surveys were completed. Within two weeks, I needed to complete 167 surveys for 7 teachers. Unfortunately, the teachers could not
assist in this endeavor. I tried to create a schedule were I was able to conduct all 167 surveys. This was impossible if I was still going to meet with my
intervention students. Therefore, I rounded up a team of individuals that had opportunity and the willingness to assist. This team consisted of the
ESOL teacher and the Guidance Counselor. The team and I then created a plan that incorporated the surveys into the Guidance Counselor's schedule.

Electron Distribution Using Peas Lab
The labs I chose were Electron Distribution using Peas, Mendeleev for a Day, and Flame Tests. I chose these labs because they helped me realize
how electrons work and why the periodic table is set up the way it is. It also helped me see how electrons work in the atoms of the periodic table.
The Electron Distribution using Peas lab helped me understand how the electrons are placed in levels based on their energy. For this lab, we had to
make a target and put peas into a funnel. After that, we let the peas go and saw what happened. The peas represented the electrons and the parts of the
target were the different energy levels of an atom. The levels allow the electrons to keep moving up once they are full. After this is known, then we can
put that information into an electron configuration. There is not an exact path as to where the electrons are supposed to go, so where the peas landed
showed us the different regions of high and low density. Also in this lab, the quantum mechanical model shows that there is not a set spot as to how the
electrons are going to go. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mendeleev knew that there would be elements that would fill the entire table, but they were not yet discovered, so he left their spots blank. He
organized the table by their increasing atomic mass. In this lab, our job was to mix unknown solutions with known solutions and record what
happened once they were mixed. Once we completed our objectives for the lab, we were to group the solutions with similar characteristics like
Mendeleev did when he was organizing his table. Unlike Mendeleev, we did not group ours with atomic mass. The periodic table tells us what the
atomic mass of an atom is. The periodic table is shaped the way it is because of its properties of the elements. Mendeleev predicted what the
properties were, whereas, we saw the changes and grouped by that. (What is the Periodic

Price Gouging In The United States

  • 1. Price Gouging In The United States The idea of price gouging can have many different perspectives on it, and is very controversial. Price gouging is when a seller spikes their prices of goods, services, or other purchase products to a level higher than reasonable. Ethically, I do agree with the fact that merchants shouldn't sky rocket their product prices during a state of emergency–price gouging. Illegally, price gouging is continuing to affect our labor market and offset the cost of living in many states. Price gouging is continuing to affect the health of many people due to pharmaceutical companies and their major increases in price. Lastly, price gouging just is unjust, immoral, and against the law in states. While there are no federal regulations to price gouging and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Price gouging occurs when a merchant drastically raises their prices on daily necessities. When setting cities living wage and cost of living, the cost of daily necessities plays a role. Cost of living is the amount of money needed to sustain a certain level of living, including basic expenses such as housing, food, taxes and health care. A book called The fundamentals of minimum wage fixing by Francois Eyraud and Catherine Saget talks brief about cost of living and how it is incorporated into minimum wage. The authors gave different ways on how the cost of living is determined. According to the two, they shared that the cost of living is determined by the price of goods (standard necessities to live), and wage statistics submitted by the United States Department of Labor (Eyraud, Saget, 2005). Both living wage and cost of living differentiates by state and cities. Cost of living effects how the government set the nations minimum wage. When merchants continuously raise prices of daily necessities and they are unreasonable, it can affect the cost of living. To prevent this trickle down effect, the United States government should create federal regulations on price gouging to prevent an increase in cost of living which then leads to an increase in minimum wage, which then leads to possible jobs ... • 2. The Effect Of Boiling Water Changed My Life Essay Prompt: Describe a teacher or course assignment that has had the most impact on you and why. Taking the temperature of boiling water changed my life. It wasn't until eight years after participating in a simple, yet elegant, marine science lab experiment that I realized its full impact on me. It had infiltrated my life so quietly that the effect had gone completely unnoticed. At least consciously. Unconsciously, as I look back, there were loads of little signs that something was different after that lab class: my thinking became more focused, I was able to anticipate questions and challenges to what I read and wrote, I entertained a variety of perspectives on issues I thought about and discussed without having to be prompted to do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Did the other groups? Did we all have the same equipment? Had it been calibrated so that everyone started with the same baseline? What about the water itself? Did it all come from the same source? What else could possibly influence the outcome of this experiment? Another hour passed quickly as we discussed hundreds of possibilities for the variations in our recorded results. At the end of our lab session, we were assigned our first 10–page lab report for the term. Ten pages on taking the temperature of boiling water!? How would we manage to get ten pages out of this simple assignment? It turns out that ten pages was conservative. Our lab reports would follow the scientific method: We'd state our hypothesis and the assumptions we had before conducting the experiment; we'd list and describe the procedures followed, step–by–step, including a list of the equipment and other materials used; we'd discuss the collection of data and provide detailed notes of the recordings; and finally, draw some conclusions about the findings. When all was said and done, each of us turned in a ten or more page report that had opened our eyes to the importance of replication of experiments, and to standardization in procedures and equipment to minimize experimental error. Eight years later, as I was waxing nostalgic to a prospective honors student sitting in my office, I recalled that boiling water experiment and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. A Large Computer Forensics Laboratory A Coordination Plan is critical to the success of a large computer forensics laboratory. It is necessary for not only members of the forensics team, but for synchronizing with organizational leads and legal entities. Most labs are operated under best practices and are structured within a hierarchy from the investigation assistant, the lab assistant, the lead investigator as well as the project lead. These positions can be changed based on the case and expertise required. Best practices state that personnel assignments should be made prior to starting the investigation. The coordination plan should be discussed at all levels of an organization since the lab needs to comply with the overall rules and regulations of the organization, but it is also likely that the lab's functions will impact the organization at some point. Competencies Coordination is critical at the senior leadership level in order to facilitate continuity of operations plan (COOP) planning. Most facilities that are Information technology centric focuses primarily on IT contingency plan. The IT contingency plan is a function of the COOP and must be orchestrated with great care. In order to create a comprehensive COOP, many departments within the organization must be involved. Finance, managers, network engineers, facilities personnel, system administrators, and security professionals are key stakeholders during COOP development process. However, Michael Christopher Carroll, the author, using his research quickly points out that is not the case. Rather, the main agenda of the lab is to produce viruses and other microbes that could decimate populations of livestock of the United State's enemies in times of war while also developing vaccines to prevent other nations from doing the same to it. • 23. A Experiment On Paramecium Experiment Essay Paramecium Experiment Introduction The purpose of the paramecium experiment was to observe competition or allelopathy between two different species of paramecium in the laboratory. Allelopathy is a way organisms inhibit or affect other organisms when developing in nature. This insures the survival of one organism against another organism. For instance in plants, some can release a chemical that enters the environment and inhibits the growth and development of surrounding plants. Another example in nature is plants developing defenses to prevent herbivores from eating them. This kind of competition happens in nature when the need for resources is limited and survival is necessary. Competition is displayed throughout nature all the time. A man named Georgy Gause previously conducted this experiment between P. aurelia and P. caudatum. He determined that different factors influence how the two species compete and coexist. Ever since then not many scientist have attempted to experiment on paramecium. Only until recently have more experiments been attempted. The issue with the experiment was that it was conducted in 1935 and nowadays there are more advance ways to conduct and interpret the experiment and results. As previously stated, knowledge on this particular subject has been limited. Ever since Gause's experiment, not many other scientists have attempted it until recently. A young Singaporean researcher contracted Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) through an experiment that had gone wrong. At first many people thought he was sickened with this disease because there was a SARS crisis all around Asia; however, that was not the case. In the article, SARS Experts want Labs to Improve Safety Practices, the researcher claimed that he "didn't have the background to understand how to handle dangerous agents." Due to the chemistry lab, the researcher was injured. This then formulated an international problem in which the national legislation instructed a very detailed safety code at biosafety labs. Many amateur experimenters do not know lab safety by heart so they tend to perform dangerous actions that may lead to injuries or death depending on how potentially dangerous the experiment is. In my personal experiences, I have seen many improper lab practices in which I helped teach people how to correctly perform these actions. This includes adding acids to water and not the reverse way because acids may bubble and splash everywhere, pouring liquids from small containers to big containers unless a valve is available is favored because it is easier to spill the content from a big container into the small container, and to wear close–toed shoes in order to prevent falling dangerous materials from making contact with skin. Jessica said "You too," Fabio replied. So Jessica, Becky, and Fabio ended up spending the rest of the day together. They had dinner and then realized it was getting late, so Fabio went back to his dorm and Jessica and Becky went back to theirs. As Becky was in the verge of sleep, her phone started ringing. It was an unknown number so she ignored it at first. The same number then called back immediately. This time she answered. "Hello?" Becky said groggily. "Hello, is this Becky Newman?" An emotionless voice said.

  • 31. Chemical Reaction Lab Type of Reactions We did a lab on many reactions to find the products of the reactions. We conducted four group experiments and three class experiments, following very strict safety procedures given to us by our instructor. We used goggles and aprons which were required at all times. We could not sniff any gasses or walk into clouds of smoke unless we were instructed to. We had to describe the reactants and products and what is taking place during the reaction. Procedures We had to follow seven separate instructions for each of the separate reactions. 1.We had to obtain a small piece of Magnesium. Holding it with forceps, we placed it in the flame of a lit Bunsen burner until there was no more reaction in the Mg. We were instructed to not look in the bright light. We observed what was produced. 2. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We had to be cautious because the nitric acid was highly corrosive and there was laughing gas and noxious fumes produced. All of our data is shown in figure 1. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Collaboration Reflection Paper The perfect example of this situation is when we had to change labs for our advanced lab testing portion related to the Partner for Health program. Originally we used HDL labatory however due to some recent bad press we no longer felt this lab was a reliable option. We had to re–assure both the patients and the client that they would recieve the same quality of testing that they were use to with previous lab draws. As part of choosing a labatory, I reseached labs that offered similar advanced lab testing. I then sent the top three labs a proposal along with a list of questions. The questions were based on level of service, customer satisfation, flexibilty, and a request for data supporting population health research. Based on these responses... I also met with their lipid specialists to ensure that their test panel would closely mirror the test previously performed by HDL. For those test that appeared differently, I had the specialists put together explainations to supply to our staff, clients, and patients. To test the overall response to the change in the lab, I had the first labs drawn at a board retreat where only 20 members were impacted instead of the 1200 enrollees. This allowed me to gather facts on a smaller spectrum and to make corrections before we have all of the participants present for the lab draws. Some of the information received from this test group was not positive but it was easily corrected. The things that needed to be addressed were based on knowlegde deficit and a lack of communication between the client and our company on some miscellanous issues. Introduction : In 1949, Sidney Farber, M.D., a pathologist and a clinician formed a theory that folic acid is required for the growth of cancer cells and methotrexate being a folate antagonist can be used to counter it. It is competitive antagonist of dihydrofoltate reductase. • 35. Lab Report On Enzyme Enzyme Lab Majesty Collins September 26, 2017 Finding the Greatest Amount of Product with a Spectrophotometer Introduction For the enzyme experiment, I hypothesized that test tube number one would have the greatest amount of product. My lab partners and I believed that number one would have the most significant amount of product because it had the highest mL amount of the potato extract. The potato extract is the enzyme of the investigation being used which is catecholase (Picture 4). The substrate in the investigation is catechol (Picture 6), and the reddish–brown product is called benzoquinone (Figure 2). Enzymes are proteins that help the speeding up of chemical reactions. Enzymes will never destroy unless pH, salt, and temperature negatively affect it. When the enzyme is finished with one substrate, it moves on to another one directly after. According to the lab manual by Pearson (2011), substrates are the reactant molecules that are being changed by the enzyme. It is known that when the substance is an enzyme, it ends in letters "ase." Substrates and enzymes have a lock and key relationship with one another. The key in the relationship is the substrate, and the lock in the relationship is the enzyme (Cap, 2016). An example of an enzyme and substrate relationship is sucrase and sucrose. The enzyme sucrase positions the sucrose, which is table salt, in a way that it can be broken down into the parts of glucose and fructose (Figure 1). The purpose of this ... • 36. Quaternary Ammonium Compounds Research Paper Quaternary ammonium compounds (QACs), also known as quats, are usually positively charged molecules with a nitrogen atom that has four other bonds (Sabapathy, 1994). Because of the positive charge on the nitrogen atom, quaternary ammonium compounds are formulated as a salt and are usually paired with a negatively charged compound or ion (Sabapathy, 1994). In terms of practical use, QACs are commonly used as a broad spectrum antimicrobial. In other words, it affects the two major types of bacteria, Gram–positive bacteria and Gram–negative (Lu, Wu, & Fu, 2007). QACs can be found in a variety of products, ranging from household products such as Lysol disinfecting wipes to sanitizing agents commonly used in food service. As with any chemical, toxicity is based on dosage . It is known that QACs can be toxic, if not... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For quaternary ammonium compounds, despite the structural motif of the positively charged nitrogen atom, it can be classified within different categories based off the specific compound. However, it appears that affecting cell membrane is the more common mechanism. The chemicals, diquat and paraquat, which are actually used as an herbicide, are examples of quaternary ammonium compounds that do not really fall within one specific category of mechanism. Through a redox reaction, both of these chemicals form superoxide (O2–) Superoxide is a free radical, which typically is a type of molecule with an unpaired electron and is consequently extremely reactive. Therefore, superoxide proceeds to remove electrons from other compounds within the vicinity, which could be as vital as DNA. Thus, the mode of action for diquat and paraquat is not specific to bacteria or unwanted plant species, but rather it is similar in plants, bacteria, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 39. Reflection Paper For Teachers During the month of November, I became our school's acting testing coordinator. Our testing coordinator was in an accident and went out on medical leave. She was suddenly out for an undetermined amount of time and with a severe concussion was unable to remember what she completed and what she did not. During her absence, there were two assessments and a survey that needed to me completed. These assessments included SAT 10, FFT (Teacher Survey) and MAP–R. This was a very demanding experience. The first thing that needed to be completed was the FFT Teacher Survey. This is important to all teachers on–cycle using the Framework for Teaching. The Survey is a vital component to a teachers overall effectiveness. If left incomplete, the teacher receives a score of zero for that portion. When I became the acting testing coordinator, only two weeks were left in the window and no surveys were completed. Within two weeks, I needed to complete 167 surveys for 7 teachers. Unfortunately, the teachers could not assist in this endeavor. I tried to create a schedule were I was able to conduct all 167 surveys. This was impossible if I was still going to meet with my intervention students. Therefore, I rounded up a team of individuals that had opportunity and the willingness to assist. This team consisted of the ESOL teacher and the Guidance Counselor. The team and I then created a plan that incorporated the surveys into the Guidance Counselor's schedule. While the ESOL ... • 40. Electron Distribution Using Peas Lab The labs I chose were Electron Distribution using Peas, Mendeleev for a Day, and Flame Tests. I chose these labs because they helped me realize how electrons work and why the periodic table is set up the way it is. It also helped me see how electrons work in the atoms of the periodic table. The Electron Distribution using Peas lab helped me understand how the electrons are placed in levels based on their energy. For this lab, we had to make a target and put peas into a funnel. After that, we let the peas go and saw what happened. The peas represented the electrons and the parts of the target were the different energy levels of an atom. The levels allow the electrons to keep moving up once they are full. After this is known, then we can put that information into an electron configuration. There is not an exact path as to where the electrons are supposed to go, so where the peas landed showed us the different regions of high and low density. Also in this lab, the quantum mechanical model shows that there is not a set spot as to how the electrons are going to go. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once we completed our objectives for the lab, we were to group the solutions with similar characteristics like Mendeleev did when he was organizing his table. Unlike Mendeleev, we did not group ours with atomic mass. The periodic table tells us what the atomic mass of an atom is. (15 points) The main evidence of chemical change in this lab is the change in color, production of gas, and the production of precipitate. These reactions can be seen from just a little bit of reaction all the way up to a complete change of the entire sample tested. Some samples of those tested in this experiment which showed the chemical reaction were the baking soda/ammonia mixture, the Epson salt and baking soda mixture as well as the food coloring mixed with the baking soda and bleach. 2.Which reactions, if any, do you believe showed no evidence of chemical change?
