BACKGROUND
• On May 10, 2018, the City Manager executed a contract
with Freese and Nichols Engineering in the amount of
$55,325 with a contingency of $17,966 in the event
Special Services are needed.
• Special Service contingent covers a possible need for further
design in the event a retaining brace is needed along the south
retaining wall located next to McDonald’s parking lot.
• The general contract covers survey, design while
providing construction services for the Harrigan court
sewer rehab.

BACKGROUND
A number of logistic obstacles were discovered at the conclusion of
the survey.
• Existing sewer main is eight (8) feet deep or more depending on
topography while the alley is only twelve (12) foot wide.
• There is an existing gas main which lays within the sewer trench.
• F&N updated estimate cost of construction has increase
substantially from under $400,000 to $600,000
• CPS Energy will need to relocate gas main out from immediate
proximity of the sewer work.
• Timeline for CPS Energy to begin construction is February of 2019
under their Civic Improvement Program. There is no cost to the City
for this work.
