The purpose of this questionnaire is to inform me on what the public prefer to see in a music 
magazine. I will be using a primary source of date which consists of quantitate and qualitative results 
as few people stated there reasons. 
When collecting my results from my 
survey 90% of the answers from my 
survey for age were mostly 15-25, while 
only 10% is 36-45. This has helped me 
decide my target audience’s age. For my 
magazine my main focus will be a young 
target audience as many people at that 
age read magazines. 
70% of the answered from the survey 
were answered by females while, 30% 
were answered by male, which will help 
me decide on the focus on the target 
audience for the magazine will be female 
but still attracting the male gender. 
When calculating my results for genre, 
the most popular option was indie rock, 
rock, pop and other. Due to these results 
my magazine will consists for these genres 
that are the most popular in my results as 
they will the will attract my target 
audience, and also will have variety of 
genres to people to read about. Quite a 
few answers were qualitative as few 
people stated wheat genre they preferred 
in the other box such as soul and jazz.

The next question that was asked on the survey 
was which magazines do they read, and 80% 
picked other, suggesting they could before heavy 
mental magazines and pop magazines. As 10% 
picked NME which an alterative magazine and 
10% because Q which is a rock magazine. 
For my magazine the content will be fill with a 
variety of different genres such as alterative, rock, 
pop and possible heavy mental.

when collecting these results from my survey, I was impressed by the 
results as 50% of the public selected for the survey ticked the slightly 
often for reading magazines suggesting they only read them when 
something eye catching to them or their favourite artist is on the 
cover. 
30% people said that they don’t read them at all suggesting they are 
not interested in reading magazines. 
And 20% read the extremely often suggesting that they are fan of 
magazines and like to be keep up to date with the music world. 
These results tell me that my magazine has to attract those who are 
extremely often and slightly often and the magazine has to interesting 
to them to make them buy the magazine.

This question in the survey is quite important for me to understand what 
attracts my chosen target audience to my magazine. 
50% of the public said they like the free item form the magazine. This option 
was the most chosen suggesting that most of my target audience and the 
public prefer having free items such as posters, CDs. 
40% chose images, this percentage is important as I have interesting artists 
on the cover of the magazine that will attract my target audience to the 
magazines. 
10% chose colour and 10% chose font this shows these are the least 
important to the public and that the font and the colour don’t interest them, 
as the most picked boxes were free items and images from a magazine. 
From the results the most important to me will be the free items and the 
images as it key to attract my target audience with various different ima ges 
and free items for each new edition. I will be considering font as and quite 
important aspect to the magazine as I have to choose a font that represents 
the genre of the magazine.

their own copy, suggesting people like having the 
magazine for a keep sake, to having a magazine 
that’s remember able.

free and easy to access. Suggesting a small amount 
off people like to read online as new technology

With these results it’s important to target those 
who listen to music quite frequently not to ones 
who only listen to music 1-2 hours a day. 
To my main aim is to target those who listen to 
music 3-4 hours day, who are music lovers. 
This question is quite important for my magazine as 
I need interesting artist that will attract my chosen 
target audience that are interested. A few people 
who did the survey picked more than one box 
which has helped me decide, what my magazine 
will contain and who will be on the front covers of

Overall my survey has been very successful with the results collected, as peoples answers have been 
very helpful with what my magazine will look like, what artist will be on the cover, genre of the 
magazine, target audience and what the magazine has to offer to the public. The chosen genre that 
I’ve selected for my magazine will be indie, rock, and other genre magazine to capture a wide range 
of people to buy my magazine as I’ve got interesting genre that many people will like. My target 
audience will be 15-25 year olds as 90% ticked that answer.
