2. HOW WOULD I CHOSE TO MARKET
AND DISTRIBUTE MY PRODUCTION?
There are many different marketing techniques which can be used to distribute music,
we needed a way to market and distribute an upcoming artist like Savannah. Our aim
was to get our production as widely known as possible, to create a mass target
audience, and get Savannah more well known in order to create more business for both
her and us as a company.
4. NEWSPAPER/MAGAZINE
ARTICLE
An article is a periodic publication containing pictures, stories and articles of
interest based around a specific topic, in this case it would be around Savannah
and her new music. Newspapers in particular are trusted, so people value their
advertisements, they as well as magazines are immediate and timely. This means
they are always up to date with the latest information. Savannah would benefit
from this form of marketing as it means the possible audience are always kept up
to date with the process of the production.
5. OFFICIAL WEBSITE/FAN SITES
A fan site is a website created and maintained by a fan or devotee interested in a
celebrity, thing, or a particular cultural phenomenon. A website site is exactly
what it states, a website dedicated to the artist. Both of these methods are
similar and are positive ways to market media productions. The sites are good
for potential audiences to visit and gather information, which may help enhance
their interest in the artist. They often have key bits of information on the sites,
such as key dates and appearences to help give the audience a glimpse of what to
expect.
6. LOCAL MUSIC FESTIVAL
A music festival is an organized festival which the public attend, where a variety
of new upcoming or more well known acts perform. The artists perform to a
wide audience range, including reporters, which increases the promotion of
them and their music. And at this point we would receive feedback and gain the
reactions of viewers. This could widen the audience range as more people may
enjoy the music through there own eyes and a reporters eyes, which in tern
could prove to be a better and more true to life marketing technique than
websites for example.
7. SOCIAL MEDIA
Social media is vastly growing worldwide, meaning marketing on the internet
using sites such as Facebook and Twitter are perfect ways to reach and address
potential audiences. Social networking sites are also beneficial as they’re free to
use, making it perfect for upcoming artists to plant the seed about their arrival
into the industry, but also means more people have access to them so gain an
insight into the type of music they produce.
8. WORD OF MOUTH
Word of mouth is when consumers who’ve had a positive (or negative)
experience with your product, service, or business in general tell other
consumers about it, and those consumers tell even more, and so on. It’s
essentially a chain reaction of good (or bad) vibes for your company.
Word of mouth involves 3 elements: engage, equip and empower. These are all
important aspects of marketing. In order for producers to benefit from word of
mouth they have to ensure they have met the customers needs and expectations.
Two of the biggest factors in effective marketing are awareness and consumer
trust, which word of mouth marketing provides.
9. RADIO INTERVIEWS
A radio interview is an opportunity to showcase your organization, a pet project
or your own expertise. A radio interview an effective way of marketing as it
reaches a wide audience in a surrounding area, and enables a specific actor or
producer to fully give a detailed explanation, without giving away too much, in
order to gain the interest of a variety of people. Radio interviews can also help
clear up any fictional stories that people have developed about the artist.
10. MERCHANDISE
Merchandise are branded products used to promote an already existing product,
such as Savannah’s music. For a business to make sales, its products and services
should be visible and displayed in an appealing manner, a process referred to as
merchandising. Merchandising includes product display and packaging, as well
as all the advertising techniques used to promote and sell goods to consumers.
Merchandise increases traffic, which increases sales, which increases the loyalty
for the company which consequently improves space management for the
company.
11. DISTRIBUTING THE MUSIC
We are going to distribute our music on a variety of platforms, firstly starting with
YouTube, YouTube has billions of users which means it is going to be recognised, and by
paying to be recognised by Vevo this will increase the number of views Savannahs
YouTube channel gains, which will increase her popularity. More people use YouTube as
it is a free was of viewing and distributing content, and by being recognised by Vevo we
don’t run the risk of blending in with every other upcoming artists.
We are also going to distribute the music on ITunes, which allows users to purchase the
music and have it on their phone, laptop, tablets and any other devices which are
compatible.
Finally we are going to distribute Savannah on Spotify, this allows a huge audience to
listen to Savannah’s whole album for free and although it doesn’t necessarily benefit
Savannah in terms of money, this will benefit her popularity and increased recognition
of her name.
