4. • Tarantino based the story on the two
lovers Charles Starkweather (18) and
Caril Fugate (14) who went on a
murders killing spree. Killing 11
people, mainly using a shotgun on the
men but Starkweather was more violent
with the woman but he also seemed to
have a pure hatred for dogs seeing as
through the 2 month killing spree he
killed two of the dogs that victims had
had.
• The movie was banned in Ireland from
the release and denied distribution in the
USA.
• Stone later cut around 4 minutes of
footage from the filming allowing the
MPAA (Motion Picture Association of
America) allowing its distribution.
5. Why the film was thought to be too controversial...
• It glorifies the acts of murder by treating murders as some sort
of celebrities by having them on magazine covers and T-shits in
some of the scenes.
• After its release there were also confirmed copycat reports
• The most famous case being the Columbine High
School massacre. Where two teenagers Eric Harris
and Dylan Klebold murdered 13 people in a rampage
at the school. Injuring another 24.
• During the massacre Harris and Klebold were
wearing cloths similar to those that Mickey Know
wore in the opening scene of the movie but they
were also reported shouting quotes form the movie
as they went on the massacre.
• The massacre only stopped when the two boys
killed them selves in the school library where they
had murdered the last 10 victims'.
