1. What have you learned from your
audience feedback?
Evaluation 3
2. For my focus group I got a group together of about 30
16 – 18 year olds (my target audience) to see how they
reacted to my trailer an movie poster. I gave out a
question sheet for them to fill in and this is the result's
from their answers.
3. Do you understand the plot of the story?
The focus group helped me to
understand that the storyline for my
movie trailer was a little too confusing
for the audience to understand and
for some of the people who
understood the main idea of the
storyline but at times they felt it was
more became a little bit unclear.
I could have improved this by having a
better clearer voiceover and possible
some text on screen to help direct
the storyline more.
Yes
No
A little
4. What did you like most about the trailer?
I listed down all the things that my
audience said worked best in my
trailer and I was happy to see wide
verity of things that they liked. Out of
my focused audience each person
seemed to like a different aspect of
the trailer which shows a persons
personal opinion.
I am very happy that Make-Up came up
because it is something small but
shows that people pay attention to it
still.
Close ups
The river scene
The subject of bullying
Fights
Voiceover
The music
Make up
Effects
Characters
Costumes
Tone (Mysterious)
5. What do you think could be improved?
I looked through my audience feedback and found that a few appeared frequently
through the questionnaire.
Fight scenes – People thought that they could have been more realistic
Storyline – Need to be clearer through the whole trailer
Voiceover – Needed to be louder and clearer but it could also have been better
worded.
Editing – The editing was too chopping at times and could have flowed much better.
I know that I should have re-shot my voiceover so that it was louder and came across
clearer but also to re-write it so that it helped to show the storyline more and let
it come across better to the audience.
6. Dose the trailer give away too much of the
movie?
No
Yes
A little but
not much
Its always good that the trailer
doesn't show too much of the
storyline but I think that the main
reason that people felt that it
didn't was because the storyline
was more confusing and most of
the audience didn't get the main
plot of my trailer.
7. Dose the music work with the trailer?
No one in my focus group thought
the music didn't fit my trailer
which i am happy about but I think
to make my trailer much stronger
I could have timed some of the
lines of the songs with certain
scenes of my trailer or even added
different songs with different
moods to other parts of the
trailer to help get the audience
into the right mood for each cut in
the trailer.
Yes
No
Sometimes
At times
8. Could you connect with the characters? Why?
Two main comment came from this section of my questionnaire
No because the storyline was also unclear so that characters couldn't come across
well enough.
Yes because both of the main characters showed a emotional development with
them through different ways. Juliet with her sitting next to her mothers grave and
Connor through the idea of him being bullied.
However some people did find it hard to connect with the characters because they
were vampires and werewolf's which works well in some way because it helps to
keep a Mysterious tone to the whole trailer. But it is also no good if the audience
finds no middle group with a character so they will not like to see a film with them
in it.
9. What genre do you think the movie is?
Genre is very important to come across
in a movie trailer because it is a key
aspect so that can get a audience to
watch your trailer. More people will
watch a trailer that is a genre of movie
that they like and enjoy watching.
I like that the supernatural element came
though most of all but I also
understand why Horror was so high
and that because the difference
between Horror andThriller is very
slim so its normal for people to get
confused by them.
10. What did you think of the movie poster?
Overall I got good comments about
my movie poster my focus
audience thought that it worked
well with the genre of movie that I
was trying to get across. But also
that the colours of the red and
black which showed in both the
trailer and poster, were a big part
of the theme and worked well and
helped to get the audiences
attention.
11. What would you rate the trailer?
8 7 6 5
I got between 5 – 8 when my
audience rated my movie. I can see
why however because I know that
my storyline could have been
better show so that more people
understood it.
Even though I know I had a few
points that needed improvement I
am happy with a rating of 5 -8
because it shows that the good
points of my trailer outweighed the
negatives.
