6. Quick Biography
Stephen Allan Spielberg is an American film director, producer and
screenwriter. Beginning his career in the 'New Hollywood era' becoming now
one of the most commercially successful directors and producers in
cinematic history. Spielberg is also one of the co-founders of Amblin
Entertainment and DreamWorks Studios.
As a child, Spielberg would sneak onto the Universal Studios and during a
tour he befriended an editor who showed him a few things on filmmaking.
Spielberg grew the interest in becoming a filmmaker when he was only a
child, so during his teens he published a 40-minute war movie for a film
festival in 1962. "Escape to Nowhere." Winning first prize starting off his
soon-to-be career.
7. Styles and Techniques
Spielberg's filming style includes using zoom and fluid camera
movement when it comes to shifting shots, only using a single camera
setup working without cutting.
"The Spielberg face" is a (not widespread) cinematic term used for
expression which would be used at least three times throughout every
of the director's films. Eyes and mouth open but not too wide, in shock
at something off-screen.
Inspired by Stanley Kubrick, Steven works like a chameleon in the film
industry as he likes to take different techniques and styles found from a
range of other directors and put them all together for film-making.
