Reservoir Dogs
His first gangster film was ‘Reservoir Dogs’, created in 1992. It was about six criminals
who are strangers to each other and hired by a crime boss Joe Cabot to carry out a
diamond robbery. They get given false names and they think that the robbery is sure to be
a success. But when the police show up right at the time and the site of the robbery, there
is panic within the group members and one of them is killed in the shootout along with a
few policemen and civilians. When the remaining members of the group assemble at the
rendezvous warehouse they begin to think that one of them is an undercover cop.
Although it was not promoted much when it was released, the film became a success in
the United States after grossing $2,832,029, making its $1.2 million budget back. The
film was more successful in the United Kingdom, grossing nearly £6.5 million, and it
became even more popular after the success of Tarantino's next film Pulp Fiction.
Pulp Fiction
Tarantino’s next gangster film was ‘Pulp Fiction’, created in 1994. The film, in brief, is
about two mob hit men, a boxer, a gangster's wife, and a pair of diner bandits who
intertwine in four tales of violence and redemption.
The budget of the film was around $8m. On its release in the uk on the 11th November
1994 it made approximately £4,243,233 and a gross profit of £10,734,32. It was a very
popular film that a lot of people watched, some would sya that it was on of the best films
in the 90’s and even one of the best films of all time.
