Measures of Central Tendency: Mean, Median and Mode
How did you use media technologies in the
1.
2. PHOTOSHOP
• Over the course of media my group and I used a
range of media technologies to help with the
production of our short film. We used Photoshop
to create the magazine article for our short film
review. Having used Photoshop in my
photography A level course as well as AS media, I
found it easy to begin this task and also used the
internet to search things I didn’t know how to do.
3. INTERNET
• When looking at short film examples, we started to get ideas of
what the outline of our film was going to be, and we decided what
kind of moods we wanted to create for different parts of the film, we
thought that we could do this with background music and that this
could be a key way to show the story without a constant need for
dialogue, this is something that the drama genre uses a lot too, and
we took inspiration from this. We looked up what kind of music we
wanted using the internet and found tracks that we thought were
most appropriate to get across the emotion we wanted to. When we
had our clips we matched the background music up quite easily. We
also got a comment during feedback that the tracks were very
effective and appropriate for the different parts of our film, and so in
evaluation we decided to keep the background tracks as they were.
The internet also helped when we were watching other short films
to get ideas for our own.
4. SOCIAL MEDIA FOR GROUP CHATS
• So that our group could stay in touch outside of school
and plan our next filming sessions, we used both
Facebook and snapchat, creating group chats that we
could all be a part of and send each other ideas for filming.
Thus also helped if anyone from the group couldn’t make
the trip to film last minute and we could come up with
other ideas together.
5. EDIUS EDITING SOFTWARE
• we used the software Edius and began planning the editing by
picking out the clips we were definitely going to use, the ones we
could make use of in areas, and what we wouldn't use. We filmed
clips so that we would have some options of how to present the
film depending on what editing we thought was appropriate for the
overall best outcome. This editing software was the easiest to use
as we weren't as skilled and experienced with editing so this
software along with the internet to find information helped with the
editing of our short film.
6. CAMERA, LIGHTS, TRIPOD
• To create our short film we used equipment from school which
consisted of a tripod, filming camera, and lights. We also used a
boom mic for the outdoor scenes. The film would not be
possible to make without this equipment and the lights and
boom mic helped with the lighting and sound in the film. The
camera was also easy to get used to after some practice filming
sessions and the tripod helped balance some of the scenes.
